Al Amoudi’s Woyanne festival update (video)

UPDATE (6 July 2012, 04:00 PM EST): Today was promoted to be the biggest day in the week-long AESAONE festival in Washington DC that is funded by the beggar Woyanne junta in Ethiopia. As the video below shows, the very few people who went to the 45,000-seat RFK Stadium, were hiding themselves in shame as they made their entry. Out of the 300,000 Ethiopians who reside in the Washington DC area, less than 500 showed up.

UPDATE (5 July 2012, 01:34 PM EST): Patriotic Ethiopians in the Washington DC area are organizing another big demonstration against the Al Amoudi Woyanne festival at the RFK Stadium Friday starting at 3 PM. UPDATE (4 July 2012, 06:45 PM EST): As expected, no more than 100 Ethiopians showed up at the Al Amoudi festival on Wednesday in the RFK Stadium that has 45,000 seats. Desperate for attendees, the organizers were handing out free and discounted tickets to Americans in DC to watch famous American rappers. Some of the rappers did not even show up after finding out who is behind the concert. On Friday, they have a concert by several Ethiopian musicians who are flown from Addis Ababa for the occasion. Patriotic Ethiopians in the Washington DC area are mobilizing to confront them outside the RFK Stadium. The protest start at 3 PM. Be there and give voice to the voiceless Ethiopians back home.

Al Amoudi and his thugs will face another disaster today when no body shows up to participate in their Woyanne festival in Washington DC’s RFK Stadium. They spent close to a million dollars to pay well-known American rappers to sing this evening (July 4). We have received information that some of the rappers, such as T.I. canceled their appearance after learning that the money they are being paid was stolen from the people of Ethiopia. Among the Ethiopian singers, Kuri was fired by her Ethiopian employers after they found out that she is planning to sing for Woyanne… stay tuned for more update

  1. Why we need our politics and its garbage to pass through the same narrow tube made by the incompetent experimental design. We sometimes need to see and compare the mirror image of what we are doing with what we oppose it otherwise, we waste time and money for our garbage in, garbage out politics every day.

  2. This is similar to what Ato Gebremedhin Araya said about the 1984 Ethiopian famine and the crime commited by the woyane leadership. That time he was given clothes to make him look like a muslim Sheik businessman so that they could trick for the NGOs. This time also the woyane is wasting 2 million dollars stolen from the Ethiopian people.

  3. Er think when you fight don’t attack individuals attack the system. You need the Individuals to be on your side not run away from you. Insulting words will only make people see you irrational not professional. Politics is winning minds and hearts not throwing insults and accusations and scare people off. be smart the game is the be different than them and infultrate them so you need people to be with you not against you. So stop the insult, stop the unsupported accusations. Base your attracts on facts and policies not wore. You have to be trusted so don’t post everything you hear but everything you proved. You are a good force but you could be very distroying most of the time posting nonsense words and individual attacks. Learn pls.

  4. I heard once someone saying name calling is either a lack of constructive thought or a cognitive deficiency. This man alone has created hundreds of thousands of jobs in his country of which at least the same number of if not more people making its livelihood. If this is not patriotic, then I am at loss to define a real patriotism. Underachievers armed with vitriol hatred, plausible and unconstructive arguments seem for now to control perceptions of the mass that doesn’t care to use its critical thinking. We’re witnessing it here everyday how a few reasonable people being demonized and called all sorts of derogatory names when they try to share their wisdom.

    Whether we agree or not Al Amoudi has brought in to his country immense wealth coupled with outstanding business experience. Our country and many citizens are the beneficiaries of this good Ethiopian. His work throughout the country can speak for itself. No amount of name calling and blasphemy can take away that from him.

    It is interesting though to take notice how some are spreading hate in the name of love. It is like the water trying to help the fire to expand. What we’re all expecting from any opposition (including Diaspora) is alternative political vision coupled with implementing policy and strategy. Instead what we are getting is excessive dose of negativity and blind hate. My friends, hate might win the battle but love will ultimately win the war.

    Despite common sense and a catalogue of contrary evidence, some have continued to drag his name through the mud. Well, good men/women will eventually prevail. Till then, rampant intellectual dishonesty, lack of knowledge on the subject matters on top of endless fabricated conspiracy theories will go on.

    Diaspora in the Starbucks and cozy Ethiopian restaurants will continue to have a poor grasp of the priorities of the average Ethiopian at the towns and villages level. Let us just engage in nonsense-talking, name calling, etc., and hope as if things then would change with the sheer power of our talk. If that is not a delusion, then what would that be? We just know what we are against but hell we don’t know what we are standing for. Our world of political theory and pontification for democracy while being in essence anti-democracy (unrecognizing the other side’s theory) has the luxury of just talking about things. What offends me almost as much as the ethical lapses are the “I’ll-get-back-at-you-for having-a-different opinion-” tantrums that these armchair patriots daily spew.

    Knowing that those few loud who know what they are against but don’t know what they stand for is troubling. Ethiopian politics needs deeper understanding of the complex socio-political fiber of the society than mere keyboard shootouts. If someone is passionate enough and has the inner fire to make a political movement, then the fight needs to be fought where the fight is instead of where the talk is. As encouraging as it might sound, when people expressing themselves with such a passion, we should take note that passion driven by hate is not what our country needs. Thoughtfulness and accountability for our actions must be the forefront of all principles.
    While it is farfetched and expected to make little or no impact, the hoopla of “boycott this, boycott that” mantra, needs a serious review. Why are so many people in favor of economic sabotage of Ethiopia that has only meager resources? Where is the sympathy? Weren’t we hampered enough by wars, natural disasters, etc.? I don’t think being far away can be an excuse for this callousness.

    Whether you celebrate in DC or Dallas, I don’t really care. But, I do care when dividers becoming so influential while uniters becoming quieter and quieter by the day.
    The folks in both places are our own. They do love their country as much as you and I do.
    Stop dividing people, stop denigrating good citizens with unfounded and false allegations, stop your shallow and sinister messages, stop claiming you are fighting for the people! You are not.
    Long Live Ethiopia!

    Respect for Solomon Tebebu replies:

    Dear Solomon,
    I respect u not for ur excellent English proficiency but also for understanding the situation and correctly articulate it. Shining post for the change!!!I wholeheartedly concur with u. I’m sure u r not as worried because as the saying goes empty vessel makes too much noise. God bless Ethiopia.

    Jegnaw replies:

    @Selomon Tebebu
    A wealth of a nation is its people and the well Bing of its entire population. not in slaving the hole nation for the benefit of few or selling its land,its natural resources to benefit other nation.like Sawday,India,and the golf state in the back of poor Ethiopians.so really what are you really talking do you really care about Ethiopia or just one of the HODAM willing to sell any thing and everything including there mother ,sister,son and country in the name of progress….

  5. Dear commentator Solomon Tebebu,

    Let me first say that I appreciate you for making your views and impression very loud and clear on the question of who is patriotic ? Who is muddling in a very dirty and divisive game? Who is suffering from serious lack of common human sense ? Who is suffering from a very evil-driven state of mind ? And so on and so forth. Yes, as a matter of principle of the right to freedom of expression in general, it is an ABC of democratic rights and civil liberties to have your say. And from this very indisputable and common knowledge about the right of self-expression ,your pespective either about Al Moudi or individuals and groups around him who fall in love with him ,or rather with his belief that” money can buy anything including one’s soul and body” is neither uncommon nor unexpected . I want to asure you that genuinely concerned Ethiopians who strongly fight against those individuals and groupings who engage themselves in the very dirty political game under the cover of “general good will” such as sport and culture or charity for that matter are neither surprised nor impressed by your very cynical comment . Why? Because your highly jargonized comment is a typical copy of the very disingenous and deeply mischievous propaganda by the tyrannical ruling circle for the last quarter of a century.

    Dear Solomon, I do not think you need to tell the innocent people of Ethiopia that you badly fall in love with your tycoon( “generous investor ” ) ,Al Moudi with that kind of unncessarily jargonized and terribly redandant comment . Because it is absoluetly a kind of idiocy to justify the very self-evident involvement of Al Moudi in the a very horrrible political game being played by the ruthless ruling elite in our country . It is a very serious insult to the intelligence of the innocent people of Ethiopia to tell them to appreciate the dirty and evil-driven partnership with the brutal ruling circle becase he “invests” a lot and hired thousands of people. In other words, commentator Solomon is telling the people that it is not necessary to be concerned about respect for basic political and civil liberties as well as human dignity as far as thousands of people out of 80+ million people are winning their daily breads. Is this not extremely disturbing idiocy? Dear Solomon, what the innocent people of Ethiopia loudly and clearly are saying is that if they have a system in which their fundamental political and human rights are respected , there is no doubt that they can make a miraclous economic and social progress within a very short period of time.For this great and genuine dream to come true , there is a need to fight against an evil-driven alliance between the dictatorial ruling elite and the so-called investors such as Al Moudi . Dear Solomon, how do you defend a man who has unequivocally sworn that he is determined to pay any sacrifice including his life for the perpetuation of the tyranniacl regime which has no any hesitation to use any means including the killing machine in order to stay in power??

    As far as those “brothers and sisters”who have become victims of the very dirty game by volunteering themselves to dance a very crazy tail-waging dance with deadly parasitic cadres of the TPLF/EPRDF are concerned, there is no any credible reason for your sympathy . They have committed a serious betryal as far as the untold suffering of the innocent people under very miserable political environment is concerned. Well, those victims of the ugly game are couragous and honest enough with themselves, it is not too late first to come back to their real senses of human diginty and regret honestly, and make sincere apology to the innocent people od Ethiopia who are suffering from the behaviors and practices of a very dirty alliance between TPLF/EPRDF and those individuals who are abusing their investment opportunities. Taht is the hard fact we are witnessing in our country. Whatever you may try to paint with your colorful rhetoric and propaganda ,the very nature of something not only remains the same but also it gets much more worse.

    Dear Solomon, it is absolutely and naively arrogant ,if not outragously nonsense to tell Ethiopians in the diaspora to “STOP ” their fight against the tyrannical regime and its deadly parasitic cadres/partners . I am sorry to say but I have to say that it seems that you are in a very dangerously delusional state of mind which desperately requires your serious and genuine effort to get out of it.

    Dear commentator Solomon, I think that is all what I want to say in response to your very unncessarily jargonized and and redandant rhetoric.

    Have a nict time buddy!!

    Solomon Tebebu replies:

    Mr. T. Goshu,
    Thank you for responding to my highly jargonized comment. I thought I gave it enough effort so it can be read and understood without a big problem. I am sorry about that. However, while you tried to dismiss it as a whole, you made also the effort to respond at the same time.

    == Dear Solomon, how do you defend a man who has unequivocally sworn that he is determined to pay any sacrifice including his life for the perpetuation of the tyranniacl regime which has no any hesitation to use any means including the killing machine in order to stay in power??

    Dear T. Goshu, not only was I present at the swearing-in ceremony but also I am not aware whether such event took place. I can say this though; every individual has a right to align herself/himself with any political organization of their wish. This is not different for Al Amoudi.

    == In other words, commentator Solomon is telling the people that it is not necessary to be concerned about respect for basic political and civil liberties as well as human dignity as far as thousands of people out of 80+ million people are winning their daily breads.

    I had to read my own comment to find those lines above and couldn’t find them. Please allow me to use your own favorite word “jargonized” here. You have tried too hard to make your point even with jargonized lines.

    == As far as those “brothers and sisters”who have become victims of the very dirty game by volunteering themselves to dance a very crazy tail-waging dance with deadly parasitic cadres of the TPLF/EPRDF are concerned, there is no any credible reason for your sympathy.

    I did read the above lines two, three times to make a sense out of but I am sorry was not able to decipher what you’re trying to say.

    == Whatever you may try to paint with your colorful rhetoric and propaganda ,the very nature of something not only remains the same but also it gets much more worse.

    Now, all of a sudden my “jargonized comment” is upgraded to “colorful rhetoric and propaganda”. I hate to do this but from your lines, I can judge you are either bitter (for not getting what you wanted) or passionately angry and I hope the later to be the case.
    I took notice though the way you tried to dismiss and belittle me by pretending to be the sole holder of the higher moral ground.
    T. Goshu, You are dangerously mixing up hate, politics, love, patriotism, etc. You are accusing some to be treasonous. That is very troubling, my friend. Some things might need to be presented with evidence. Calling people treasonous so easily and thinking it is ok, says volumes about you. Could it be possible that we all love our country but we differ in some principles? Why do you assume that everybody else has to be dismissed if they don’t agree with you?
    Have a good day!

  6. Dear cementers please let’s go down to ground and see some fact I’m not sure if some of you heard this fact during the transitional period of EPRDF a country was faced a high economical crises even the military junta was borrowed 6 billion dollar from Russia and some other eastern country . government treasury hadn’t 0.01 cents at that time . that was a very clear and universal fact so how can we say now that is public wealth A wealth of a nation etc I don’t know why we always be boast on air we don’t have nothing that is it .this guy is doing very well investment . He giving tremendous job opportunity to his people .look some other country also he has wide range of investment, have you been heard any complain with those opposition groups in Sweden? And other places. Let’s assume one day this man leave everything and go out from that country what will happen. I’m sure nobody can do anything for those unemployed people. Things are not easy as eating burger.

    Jegnaw replies:

    @Tilahun
    Ethiopia has existed before Alamude for 3000 years,and Ethiopia will exist with out Alamude. God willing another 3000 years .but none of us can exist with out Ethiopia.so really Ethiopia dos not need Almudi. what Ethiopia need a government that cares to all Ethiopian.a government that will not sell Ethiopia and loot the land and heir resources..

    Tilahun Lealem replies:

    @jegnaw
    Dear jegnaw this is a cause what we always pulling us to back: 3000 years history, have never colonized, proud people etc .look other within fifty and hundred year where they right now. Even some country which was colonized by western have you seen those how they are moving forward? Please let’s stop talking about our past history let’s put something for the coming generation. I know we have a magnificent and glory shine history but still it doesn’t bring loaf of bread. As long as you are in terrible no one can see your strength and history. I ‘m sure we will have time to talk about history for now we are in terrible so we need State of National Emergency.
    Have a wonder full time

    Jegnaw replies:

    @Tilahun
    A man can not live by bred alone.
    Ato tilahun you fell to understand my point and the people who are fighting for. it is for the very existence and survival of a nation call Ethiopia.
    i was not talking about history it was meant as metaphor.
    but in what expense you want Ethiopia to progress as a nation? by selling your country resources to benefit the few? and internally displaced millions of Ethiopian to satisfy the new Ethiopian Arab master like AlAmoudi and loot Ethiopia boon dray?and it is not helpings Ethiopians at all.but keep advocating for enslavement of Ethiopian in the name of progress.as for me i will fight to free my land from this Evil TPLF and their financier and there hodam supporters.

    and those country that you say are moving and progressing are have a good government for the people by the people not loot there country boon dray.so don’t compare Ethiopia with other country that have a good government and care very much for there people.
    not like TPLF parasite..

  7. Dear Solomon,

    I sincerely thank you for your reply to my remarks on your comment .

    I am not really interseted to stretch our exhange of views out of proportion. But let me say a couple of points just to make myself clear .

    = Believe or not, my remark has nothingto with your personality as such . It is rather against your very idea which praises the behavior and practice of the tyrannical ruling circle . If you feel that I am so harsh on the very dirty game Al Moudi is muddling in the name of the right to support TPLF/EPRDF , I have to tell you that I have to do so. Because we are not talking about politics under noraml circustances or with certain level of mess.We are talking about the unbelievable level of humuliation the innocent people of Ethiopia are experiencing because of the horrible political game you are trying to defend . I know you do not want to admit that being a good partner of bloody or criminal politics has nothing to do with individaul democratic rights at all. If you are trying to convince me that it is your or Al Moudi’s basic rights to dance with a ruling circle that stays in power by torturing and killing my innocent brother or sister, I am sorry to say but I have to say that you are deadly wrong! Because this kind of behavior and practice is not only anti-democracy but sadly enough serious crime!

    = Dear Solomon, you repeatedly qouted my point of views as if it has nothing to do with your reflections and arguements . I want to assure you that the very essence of my points of vjiews are relevant enough to your views and positions well reflected in your comment. Are you complaing that I was supposed not to try to get the very essence of your arguement ? Do you want me not to be deeply critical about your real intention which is clearly reflected in your piece of writing?? I am sorry we are not talking about dealing with dictionary defination of words . We are talking about dealing with poilitical reflections of a person who defends the dirty partnership between the “investor”(Al Moudi and the brutal regime. I have tried to read and reread your comment ,and I have to tell you that there was no any other way to tell about it. Yes,it sounds harsh. But that is the way it is !

    = Are you sure enough that indiviuals such Al Moudi who support the political killing machine are as patriotic as any innocent citizen?? If that is the case, it is not me but it is you who are terribly messing up patriotism ,hatred, politics, love! I do not think I need to respond to you arguement that there is no evidence about the ugly alliance between TPLF and Al Moudi. It ahs to go with out saying that this arguement of yours which typically looks like the a complete denial as usuasl from Arat Kilo itself for the last several years ,and there is no need to tell you again and again.

    = I do not know what else would be terribly betryal or treasonous if the politics of the tyrannical regime which is killing the generation and puting the very surviaval of the country at stake is not relevant . Do not tell me ruling by dehumanzing and hmumuliaitng the people has nothing to do with terrible treason.

    I wish I could be humble and easy going about the your irritation or rage .But I could not and I did not want to be!! Decause I strongly believe it is morally and politically right to call the spade sapde whenever it is necessary and approprite !!

    HAVE A WONDEFUL TIME BUDDDY!!
