Ato Zenawi Asres, the father who brought to this world one of the worst mass murderers in Africa’s history — also known as the Butcher of Addis Ababa and Mogadishu — Meles Zenawi, has died today in Addis Ababa at the age of 82. Ato Zenawi’s body was flown to Adwa for burial.

    I am so sad he died with dignity and respect, in the capital of Ethiopia ,the country which he deal to sell to Itally.He was the one who fought a gainst ethiopian in order to have piece of bread from colonizers.
    Banda died with respect in the country in which he sold for 30 silver coin.

However, in this particular incident I pray that God will comfort Meles and his family as they grieve the loss of Ato Zenawi. I think most of the comments here are against our culture and religion (all religions). Hatred is not the answer

  9. I don’t think it fair to say those unkind words about a father who should not be held responsible for what his wicked son has done.

    Our anger against Meles should not blind as to be gleeful about the death of an old man who happened to his father by accident of birth.
    This kind of gloating over the death of even an enemy is completely alien to our decent and dignified Ethiopian culture!

  16. I agree with Lulataw, lets not mock a person who passed away, we will all pass away one day and the last thing anyone of us wants is desecration of our name in death. I have never read and know Melles’ father and have not heard anyone criticise his actions before, just because he died and is a father of a dictator doesn’t mean people need to say such horrible things about him. The problem with some people is that they let their emotions get the best of them, no need for that. I know many people who intermarried along border, ethnic and racial lines. Lets not mock a person who has nothing to do with the current state of Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa. Let him rest in peace.

  17. The comments may be harsh, hate-mongering and inhuman in general. However, it is very interesting to note the causes of thesese feelings. Meles has created that in the minds of us all. To my knowledge, I know no leader in the Ethiopian history who has been so much hated and reviled. I am afraid we might even scan world history and say “no one like Meles.” The Geramn Nazist and the Italian Facist did litle harm to their own people compared to what they did to outsiders. They were expansists who sought fame for themselves and their nations. Meles’s case indeed is unique! He kills his own people to save outsiders, he reduces his own country to enlarge naighbouring countries. These facts are the causes of all the hate comments.
    Aboy Aseres has left a cluster bomb in the heart of Ethiopia. See you at the judment day, when all hidden actions will be exposed and judged accordingly.

    My fellow Ethiopians, please make sure not to recycle evil. Fight evil with good, and not evil with evil. If we do, there is no end to it.

  23. I wonder how he raised his son? What was Zenawi telling Meles about Ethiopia when he was growing? I don’t think Meles just turned out to be a bad boy. I think they share some thing in common.Hate for Ethiopia.He was a Banda/traitor. Traitors are opportunists who don’t have any consciouse. There is no point of feeling good at Mr Zenawi’s death, I believe Meles, his son is the one who is responsible for the actions he has commited against Ethiopia and her people, as far as I think, Meles’ father got no power of changing the lunatic Meles Zenawi’s ruthless mind and his dedication to lead Ethiopia into extreme tyranny.   31. Every man and woman should be judged on their deeds-not who they are.We should not blame the father for the actions of the son unless he supported those criminal actoins.I doubt that Meles was well raised but it would be injustice if we attack his parents.

  42. It is very sad. Meles has gotten a good exampe of death. Maybe he will learn how death is very disasterous to the family and even the country. But, make sure Ato Zenawi was not killed by his murderer and brutal son, Meles because this guy does’t care about human life at all.

  44. The only thing I can think from his death, which Ethiopian people benefit. Meles and his children devastating by his deaths, it might be they will learn how human fell the emedate family dead and he will stop killing. However we don’t have to forget our culcher.

  45. It’s sad to hear the death of anyone who leaves families to grief on their behalf. In this case we all have to have a little sympthy for the death of this person.   47. Hi mimi, what is wrong with you. No one denies death is big lost, specially father and mother’s death. How ever, do you think he felt my fathe’s lose by his sharp shoot bulet? I don’t think so he felt it. Any way, you got to know what the idea of each comment before you’re critsizing other’s idea. So, when you say ‘mehayim’ to others you need to becare full you have the best idea of all about social,cultural,and religous values. Even though Adolph Hitler and his followers were directly responsible for the World War II crime against humanity and most people of Germany supported the tyrant then, the dark history automatically followed the whole people of that country and continued to follow them up to now. The Meles’ case is a bit different, since him and his few followers and cadres perpetrated atrocities of genocide magnitude, but all most all Ethiopians are against him, the blame and may be the revenge latter will fall on his children, wife and his gung. Even his father’s body couldn’t sleep eternally, due to his son’s direct brutality. Other than that, we should say “let his soul rest in peace” just to remember how our elders taught us to behave.

  50. Death is inevitable;however, sad, sad the dead went first never had a chance to see his son’s fate which is around the conrner.

    The dead didn’t know he would go first, as he came to this world first; well, going down into a shallow grave is bad; worst, going into the grave and hell is worst for Meles Naziawi.
