Ato Zenawi Asres, the father who brought to this world one of the worst mass murderers in Africa’s history — also known as the Butcher of Addis Ababa and Mogadishu — Meles Zenawi, has died today in Addis Ababa at the age of 82. Ato Zenawi’s body was flown to Adwa for burial.

    ከአባታቸው ደጃዝማች አስረስ ተሰማና ከእናታቸው ወይዘሮ ዘውዲቱ መንገሻ በአድዋ ከተማ ደብርቺ ተብሎ በሚጠራው ቀበሌ የተወለዱት አቶ ዜናዊ አስረስ፤ ዕድሜያቸው ለትምህርት እንደደረሰ በዓድዋ ከተማ እንዳሚሲዮን ተብሎ በሚጠራው ትምህርት ቤት ከ1ኛ – 4ኛ ክፍል ከተማሩ በኋላ በተለያዩ የመንግስት ሥራዎች ተመድበው አገራቸውንና ህዝባቸውን በቅንነት ከማገልገላቸውም በላይ ለአገራቸውና ህዝባቸው ጥልቅ ፍቅር የነበራቸው ጀግና አባት ነበሩ፡፡

    ከ1936 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ የዓድዋ ወረዳንና የአክሱም ፅዮን አስተዳዳሪ በመሆን ለአንድ ዓመት የሰሩት አቶ ዜናዊ አስረስ፤ የብዘት ወረዳ አስተዳዳሪና የትግራይ ጠቅላይ ግዛት በጎ አድራጎት ድርጅት ሃላፊ በመሆን ለበርካታ ዓመታት አገራቸውንና ህዝባቸውን በከፍተኛ ቅንነት አገልግለዋል።

    የአፄ ሀይለስላሴ ስርአት በኢትዮጵያ ህዝቦች ላይ ያደርስ የነበረውን በደልና ጭቆና ፊት ለፊት በመቃወም በፅናት የሚታገሉና የተማሪዎችን ትግል የሚደግፉ ጠንካራ ታጋይ አባት የነበሩት አቶ ዜናዊ አስረስ ፤ ስርአቱን በመቃወማቸው ምክንያትም የመንግስት ስራና ሃላፊነትን ትተው በግል ስራ ይተዳደሩ እንደነበር የህይወት ታሪካቸው ያስረዳል።

    በደርግ ዘመንም የደርግ ስርዓት በኢትዮጵያ ህዝቦች ላይ ሲያደርስ የነበረውን ጭቆና ጠንክረው በመቃወማቸውና ፊት ለፊት በመታገላቸው በደርግ የተለያዩ ተፅዕኖዎች የደረሰባቸው አቶ ዜናዊ አስረስ ፤ የደርግን ስርዓት በመቃወም ወደ በረሀ ወጥተው እስከመታገል የደረሱ አባት ነበሩ ።

    ጥልቅ የአገርና የህዝብ ፍቅር የነበራቸው፣ በህዝብ ላይ የሚደርስን ጭቆናና በደል የማይቀበሉ አርበኛና ሰው አክባሪ የነበሩት አቶ ዜናዊ አስረስ ባደረባቸው ህመም ምክንያት በህክምና ሲረዱ ቆይተው ሰኔ 19/2000 ዓ.ም በተወለዱ በ82 ዓመታቸው ከዚህ ዓለም በሞት ተለይተዋል፡፡

    የ14 ልጆች አባት የነበሩት አቶ ዜናዊ አስረስ የቀብር ስነ ስርዓት ነገ ሰኔ 20/2000 ዓ.ም ልጆቻቸው፣ ቤተሰቦቻቸውና ወዳጆቻቸው በተገኙበት በተወለዱበት ዓድዋ ከተማ እንዳፅዮን ቤተክርስትያን እንደሚፈፀም ዋልታ ኢንፎርሜሽን ማዕከል ዘግቧል።

  4. I am not supporting EPRDF or Meles in particular, but let’t be compassionate and don’t forget the culture we brought up which gives respect for the dead body and the family members. I can guss the subsequent emails coming. But let’s be able to sepaerate politics & personal life. I wounder what kind of personality the editor of this website could possibily show to the world if he had the opportunity to have that position.

  12. Meles’s action are his actions and his parties (TPLF/EPRDF) alone. I mean, the way you look at it, it seems that who ever stands trial for what ever crime, their parents should also stand trial too because they gave birth to them.   15. That is neither good nor bad news for Ethiopians. I am not even sure if it is something worth talking about the guy whose passing was the subject at hand. But, folks, remmeber our enemy is not the guy who, as far as I know, has done nothing to us, but his son who is driving Ethiopia into the abiss, that is who our enemy is.

  20. Zenawi Asres was a famous Anti-Ethiopian Mercenary who gave birth to one of the infamous anti-Ethiopia person legesse zenawi. zenawi asres was so much hated by the people of Adwa and was forced to cross to Eritrea to marry an Eritrean lady.

    Anyways, God Bless His Soul and God relieve Ethiopia from further Mercenaries!

Meles’ strong belief in ethnicity has never become clearer than when he has decided to take his father’s body to Adwa to bury it there rather than to give it a final rest in Addis Ababa, so the doctrine of ethnicity, according to Meles Zenawi, includes not only the living but the dead also. However, how many Amhara and Oromia soldiers have died in Somalia fighting Meles’ enemies, but has Meles allowed these soldiers who died fighting for him to be buried in their hometowns? I doubt it!

    We should not celebrate on the death of Zenawi Asres, because Meles’ murderous actions are not fault of his father, but his and his parties only.

  40. It is very shameful that Meles has decided to take the body of his father to Adowa-you see how narrow he is in everything he does. I will understand if someone from Gondar dies in Addis and his body is sent to Gondar(his most of his relatives may be there,) but to Adowa, how dare they?
    And how dare he bring his father to Minilik’s palace? That is only for true Ethiopians. I was not that much shocked when a military officer by the name Mengstu(who killed my uncle) was in the palace. You see as long as someone is a true Ethiopian it does not matter what he did. How about the bandits woyane, whatever good they do(if they do at all my mistake)I won’t accept them as ethiopians.
    My fellow Ethiopians, let’s all predict the fall of woyane from whereever we are, after all it is by doing that Meles and his gang came to power(with the support of western countries). It is a lie that they fought the Derg for what they belive, they are cowards.

    How low can we go? Our fathers and forfathers have thought us to respect the dead. This guy did not do anything to us. Being a father is not a crime!!!! This kind of mentality if left un challenged will lead us into Hutu style craziness.

    He could side his son in any decission but he has nothing
    to do with his beast son , who remain alive for short .
    He is lucky to be burried in his country.
    But, What about Meles/Legesse Zenawi asres ?

  50. Ato Zenawi (Meles’) father was born to an Eritrean Asres who was born in Adi kuala but migrated to Adwa after killing someone there and maried to a local woman. So Ato Zenawi (half Eritrean) also married to meles’ mum (an Eritrean from Adi kuala) making Meles a quarter ethiopian (only his grand mother is an Ethiopian). This is not however meant to discuss his identity but to let everyone know that his gradfather was also a criminal on hiding.
