(Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates) – An Ethiopian maid committed suicide on Tuesday in Al Rams area leaving a note addressed to her mother asking for her prayers.
The 26-year-old Ethiopian maid identified as A.S. hanged herself to death with a rope fixed to the ceiling of a toilet at the house of her Emirati sponsor.
Police have started an investigation into the case. Captain Ahmad Abdullah, Acting Head of Al Rams Police Station said they received a report from the sponsor who was shocked to find her maid hanging.
Police found a letter written by the maid herself. She did not mention a reason for committing suicide.
Captain Abdullah said the investigations clearly showed that the maid did not have any motive to commit suicide.
The suicide of the maid was surprising for the sponsor who testified that her maid never demanded anything and that she led a normal life. The case was referred to the Public Prosecution.

God keep her soul in heaven.
May God rest your soul!
Very sad news indeed. If all Ethiopians focus on what we can do to better our country rather than fight over esoteric notions that have no bearing on our day-to-day lives, may be we will have fewer tragedies such as this one.
I also hope the concerned law enforcement officials investigate such incidents throughly. Every human soul is precious and we all should work to eliminate situations that make one to take his/her own life.
Very sad news. It really hurts deep to read about such stories.
it is sad more and morre of our sister in Arab Emirad comite sucide. and i am sure it is their to wish to die that way. the only reason could be they are unable to tolerate the brutal treatment imposed on them by the people who they work for. the only way we can stop this tragedy is by standing up for our sister and demand that our sisters to be treated like human beings. it also a shame that our own governemnt fail to stand up to their people and protect their God given right. i hope one day history will judge the people in chanrge in our country. May God bless her soul and others.
Let’s find her picture and post it on the web. Same with those who had gone thru the same agony. This issue must be polarized to the world so that people know how the Emirates treat foreign people in their country and how they are still uncivilized.
Where there is no legitimate government, people always suffer in many ways. Shame on those who made Ethiopians reach this level of poverty. God punish those who are self centered and who are humiliating their own citizens. Show us their failure with out delay.
God bless her soul and rest in peace.
Indeed, it truely and deeply hurts to note this kind of inhumane treatment by Emirates and few other nations in that part of the world!
Shame on the hodam woyane morons and their allies.
The cause of of all these tragedy is the Woyane government.
It is also a curse from the Almighty God for what we do to each other.
Let us all pray and come to our senses.
Ethiopia has always been a land of plenty but the last 30 years we have gone from the frying pan to the fire.
May God rest the soul of our sister in peace.
Sisters and brothers please pray strongly so that God may turn its blessings to us.
God Bless Ethiopia and her people!
