  1. Obang Matheo, for his tireless work to bring all Ethiopians together for his tireless work for Human Rights, Freedom, Justice and Dmocracy in Ethiopia. Haile Gebre Selassie
    Kenenesa Bekele

  3. The African pride and conscience, a man of principle and grace, a hero to all of us and a visionary leader, the Eritrean president Isias Afowerki is my ER person of the year choice.

  4. 1. Professor Mesfin W/Mariam
    3. W/t Bertukan Mideksa
    3. Professor Al. Mariam
    4. Engineer Gizachew Shiferaw

For her tireless effort to bring freedom and democracy in Ethiopia, through peaceful means.

    6. Teddy Afro

For his unwavering to promote ‘Ethiopian Unity’ everywhere and at all times.

  5. Meles zenawi. Ethiopian Prime Minister.
where one-third of population go hungry.while three-fourth of total population are swimming in the ocean of abject poverty. about 77 million ethiopians are taken hostage in their own country. where millions are langushing in prisons while others being killed and displaced for the crime they are not guilty of.
I,therefore nominate meles for ER person of the year.

  6. In my opinion the man of the year is not only one person, those who have understood the woyanes situation ^and decided to bring democracy ^and Justice to the ethiopians and have already decided for a serious way of struggle what is so ever I support them and I will fight together with them against the woyane fascist regime…and my choice is Dr Berhanu Nega to be man of the year.
    Geo bless Ethiopia!
    God bless Ginbot7 movement!

  7. the best man of 2008 is Dr. birhanu Nega

In contrast to that the worst man of 2008 is the moron hailu shawel and he might be the worest person of 2009 if he continues to attack genuine oppostions along with his eprp gangester destructive groups

  8. Dr. Berhanu Nega….for his leadership ability, clear articulation of his positions to unseat the criminal gang (woyane,) and last but not least for his innovative approach in creating sizeable followers in short span of time. I like his vigor and passion in presenting issues. He is helping people to take a clear position towards woyane.

  9. The only sane leadership in the killing fields of the Horn and Eastern Africa seems to found in Eritrea. Despite the incompetent Woyannie groupie, Ms. Frasers, obsession with Eritrea, the Eritrean President Essayas Afowerki, seems to come a winner always. Hi is the MAN.

  10. I nominate indeed Isayas Afewerki he is the man. Not Only for horn of Africa but also for the rest of Africa he is an example to those who dont have a manner to beg handout from western. he is the only person who resist the conspiracy of west. So, i named Isayas the man of the generation NOT A YEAR!!!

  11. Dr. Berhanu Nega:
He has pointed out the right direction for the struggle., and that is the only way to topple tplf if one really wants in doing so. No other means can do the job

  12. The true Ethiopian Lidetu Ayalew
who was a victim of defaming from jelous late comer ”politicans”because of the love he got from the Ethiopian people unlike the professors and Doctors

  13. Ato Isayas of Eritrea, I had never thought I would say it until following his moves and leadership. A true African!

Chairman of EPPF. What a move and gave all of us hope. Thank you Elias

Dr. Berhanu Nega. Our next presidant

Ato andargachew tsige. What can I say more.

  14. My choice is Eng. Hailu Shawel, the chairman of AEUP. Eng. hailu has won in landslide electione in 2005 against meles zenawi. He has founded and organized AEUP, th elargest party with more than 5 million members. He is also the leader of the most genuine opposition party in Ethiopia. Unlike UDJ, the AEUP has rejected any idea of weyane parlama or participating in election without the implementations of the 8 pre conditions of ethiopian people. He has fired 5 former kinjit members for their attempted coup detta against the elected leader and revisionist stands. Since then Birtukan mideksa has created UDJ and is now ready to work with TPLF members like Siye Abraha and Gebru Ass Rat also with Ethnocentrists like Negass Gidada.
So Eng. Hailu should be the man of the year for his bold stands, honesty and consistency.

  15. the worst person this year is ‘kibur presidant Enginner Hailu shwal”i like the name some people call him.if you don’t call him in the a bove name he is going to fire you from AAUP, that is his on property. Have you seen his a big picture on isuzu, Addia Ababa people is loughing when they saw his picture, he remind them junta Mengistu Hailmarim,
why melese give them permission on the street to hold ‘kibur presidant enginner Hailu shawal(Mengistu, Hailmarim)’ picture, he knows the people Addis Ababa to be laugh in this picture.
for me the best person in this year is Teddy Afro.

  16. Dr. Berhanu Nega should be the person of the year because he is the one who chooses another way of strugling the woyane regime. He didn’t went to the decision randomly but after a carful understanding of the represive regime plus the future consequeses to the ethiopian people as particular and the people of the horn in general.
    thank you

  17. I nominate Teddy Afro,

For his love of his country, for his courage and bravery, for never flinching and standing to the truth, for showing the very Ethiopian spirit of defiance and strength in the face of all the problems he has been in,

  18. Elias and all other Ethiopian journalists–at home and abroad, artists like Teddy Afro and all the unknown freedom fighters who have been a voice to the voiceless deserve the recognitions by all Ethiopians. These brave Ethiopians have put their lives in danger by exposing the brutality of Meles’ regime in the open to bring peace and stability for their beloved country Ethiopia.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! May 2009 be the end of woyannes!!

  19. I say number 1 Tedi Afro number 2 doctor Berhanu Nega number 3 Andaragachew Tsige number 4 Halu Shawul number 5 doctor Abeba from the Ethiopian women international number 6 you mister Elias I think you should be considered seriously as well as Tamagn Beyene and Alemtsihay Wodajo number 7 Mirichaw Sinishaw number 8 Adisu Abebe and Tizita Belachew from the voice of America the Amharic service number 9 mister Obang number 10 Isayas and Alem from radio Netsanet Number 11 the great Ana Gomez.

  20. I feel as if the situation is ethiopia is sort of similar to that in the middle east. Byt that i mean, The Woyanes represent “Israel” because they run the country as they wish and for their benefit. And the people of ethiopia represent “Palestine” because we are stripped of our rights and cant do much about it….

  21. most of the ppl mntioned above end up messing up the country. the real hero was the visionist of the ‘ethiopia tanebalech’ project and one of the ten CNN heros Ato Yohannes G/Giorgis. None of the people you mention made a tangiable change to the country. Please let us award ppl on the front of the battle, not ppl who talk about the battle.
