The latest news that came out of Eritrea regarding Ethiopian resistance fighters sent shock waves through Ethiopian communities all over. The report, which is posted on Ethiomedia last night, says that 17 members of the Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF) have been executed following the organization’s general assembly in February 2010. The executions were carried out on the orders of Col. Fitusm Yitshak, Eritrean adviser to Ethiopian opposition groups in Eritrea, the report adds. The victims are:

2. Alemu Melkamu
3. Desse Abera
4. Gashaw Babel
5. Melaku Abera
6. Alemseged Tekhest
7. Fekadu Endalew (Division Commander)
8. Shumet Sisay (Division Commander)
9. Asmare Zewde
10. Getnet Feseha
11. Tekle Gebru
12. Esubalew Hailu
13. Beshaw Dube
14. Yaregal Asmare
15. Mohamed Molla
16. Adem Getahun
17. Fentahun Alemshet (Force Commander)
I have met some of these individuals at the Feb. 2010 general assembly. One of them, Esubalew Hailu, was sitting in front of me. He was asking tough questions and taking the leadership to task on a number of issues. Adane Mekuannent, the former secretary general, is a highly respected fighter and an outspoken person. He was prevented from attending the general assembly. When we asked where he is, we were told that he is on a mission.
I have known and repeatedly asked explanation about the disappearance of most of the individuals in the list, on top of several others, including Shibabaw Abebe, who was a well known anti-Woyanne rebel leader in Wolkait before joining EPPF.
There were several incidents of mutiny following the disappearance of these EPPF fighters, most of whom are central committee members who were elected at the Feb. 2010 general assembly. Subsequently, the rank-and-file members started to desert in droves, and according to my sources inside EPPF, only about 70 fighters left now.
I’ve been trying to verify the authenticity of the Ethiomedia report from multiple source. What I have been able to confirm so far is that the individuals in the list have indeed disappeared without a trace, but not all of my sources could tell me that they have first hand information on whether they have been executed.
Due to the extreme gravity of the report, I urge the Government of Eritrea to launch an investigation without delay. Since many of the individuals in the list are members of the EPPF central committee, it will not take long for the GOE to find out what happened to them.
When I traveled to Eritrea last February, I, along with others who went with me, had called for the creation of an inquiry panel composed of 3 individuals from EPPF and 3 individuals from the Government of Eritrea (GOE) to investigate the alleged corruption inside EPPF and the disappearance of members. The request was shot down and we were accused by Col. Fitsum, through his puppets, of trying to cause friction between EPPF and the GOE.
Because of Ethiomedia’s strong anti-Shabia stand, I have heard some Ethiopians expressing doubt about the report. Ethiomedia’s editor Abraha Belai may have anti-Shabia bias, but as a professional journalist who takes his profession seriously, I don’t think he would post such an extremely shocking news without doing due diligence. The issue at hand is not the messenger of the news, but what happened to these 17 individuals and many others, including Col. Tadesse Muluneh, who have disappeared following the Feb. 2010 general assembly.

-They massacred about 1400 Eritreans who were thought to be working with the Derg two months after independence,
-They massacred 4000 Ethiopians POW right after they controlled the whole country,
-They massacred 29 disabled and wheelchaired veterans(freedom fighters)in Mai Habar in 1994 for raising a kitichen table issues,
-They jailed parlamenterians,senior military commanders,journalists and other citizens in their dungeons,fox holes and metal containers(most of them are dead due to inhumane treatment)
-12 Kunamas were massacred and had their bodies destroyed by powerfull chemicals,
As we speak,there are more than 40000 Eritreans languishing in their dungeons.
REMEMBER,all these grue-some crimes were committed without the due process of the law and they were never given a chance to defend themselves.
NOTE,these crimes are the just the tip of the iceberg and a lot of untold horrifying stories will soon be unfolded.Brother Elias and others should have known that associating with such an evil would mean walking on mine field dangering the lives of many innocent freedom fighters.Today Ethiopia is on the verge of forgiving the architects of all the grue-some crimes committed against Ethiopians during the Derg rule including Master sergeant Leggese Asfaw who ordered the massacre of over 2000 farmers on a market day in Hawzen.

I hope and pray that these innocent individuals were not executed and are still alive and well. Otherwise, my longstanding fears are justified. I highly suggest to Brother Elias to be very careful and never to set his foot in that part of the world again. When I say this, my assumption is that he had no idea or was never informed of such measures before they happened. That Horn of Africa is riddled with intricate and usually bloody intrigues. Hasty alignments and decisions made by shallow analysis are easy recipe for falling prey to those heinous forces who are ruling those countries. It is not hard to tell if someone carefully study how they got where they are now. Mountain of books has been written with accounts of atrocities that will make your stomach bleed. They had fought external enemies to the finish and mercilessly exterminated their internal enemies. There are well-founded accounts how these current day rulers of those countries sentenced some of their internal challengers to death by starvation. When I read the story sometime ago that those who were grouped around an organization called ‘EPPF’ have gone over to Eritrea seeking help and shelter, it had made me cringe. It was a faulty, dangerous and incongruent axiom to even dream about. It was just a matter of time for this to happen. Didn’t Mengistu H.Mariam know that Major Getachew or Ali Mussa was doing all those mass killings? Didn’t Meles know that his Agazi troops were out there on rampage in streets of Addis in November 2005 killing hundreds and maiming thousands? Didn’t Mussolini know his Field Marshal Badoglio was using Iprite/mustard gas during Italo-Abyssinian War? As a father of two wonderful grown-ups, my heart is heavy now with grief. Where did Abraha Belai say he got his latest news scoop? From EEPF fighters who fled to Ethiopia and surrundered to the woyane, which makes it less credible. However, Elias seems to independently corraborate parts of the story; that there was some sort of power struggle within the EPPF, which culminated in some sort of mutiny within its ranks, dividing the group into winners and losers, that many have fled and only 70 fighters remain, and that several people most likely belongning to the losing side have disappeared. These bare the skelletal parts of the story, the rest is conjucture. What happened to the above listed individuals, imprisoned? Executed? Fled to Ethiopia? Surrundered to the woyane? What has happened to those fighters who fled, surrendered to the woyane? Are hiding in their villages? Went to the Sudan? Why would Eritrea want to interefere in the power struggle of such a minor group, that is highly prone to conflicts, incriminations and counter-incriminations, and which among its most prominent former members include Qindibu Solomon Tekalegn.
There is something fishy in the Ethiomedia report. It says the report is unconfirmed and the source is a former EPPF member who managed to escape to Ethiopia from Eritrea. First of all Weyane would have used these escapee for its propaganda purposes.
Problem is that Abraha Belay is a known anti Eritrea and pro Tigray individual. His only issue is with Sibhat and Meles, who he thinks that they are Eritrean by extraction. He doesn’t have qualms with the rest of Weyane (be it with its Agazi death squads or others)
There is no doubt that in any rebel movement disagreement could arise, and some individuals might be affected by that. However, we can’t simply assume that if an individual is in detention that it is likely killed.
In regards to the Eritrean Government, I think we should take into consideration that the Governemnt is a host of many of the rebel movements like EPPF. and a such it has a moral and other responsibilties to get involved in certain aspects of the activities of the movements. It doesn’t have to directly get involved in EPPF’s organizational structure, but it is the government’s security issue that should be a concern. Let’s face it, history tells us that any rebel movements could have defectors and moles in its life time.
Isaias and Meles are playing the rutheless game of genocide and they are enjoying it, jesting at the naivety of those who thought a strong and democratic Ethiopia will come out of the support of Shabiya.
If Elias still believes Isaias, let him go to Eritrea in person and verify this shocking news.

During these years, the biggest crime in the new country so called Eritrea was speaking Amharic or listening anything in Amharic. An Amharic casset in your house could literally be the end of you and your families life. A coldblooded nightmare could be triggered at any time not only by their soldiers but also by the people themselves.
3, what they are doing to each other:
The country as we speak is the biggest prison camp. This is the worst and only country where once thrown to their prison, you will never ever see the day light. Either you will languish of torture, hanger, and all kind of inhuman treatments they can find or they will mass murder them as they did to these asylum seekers.
This place is the worst place to be even for their own kids, men and women. Any one can imagine the cruelty behind all the people fleeing this place in hundreds of thousands. Even a new infant wants to leave these daytime hynas. I was looking a Facebook video, the number of kids as young as 4 years old leaving the country bythemselves to Ethiopia and Sudan. Those Ethiopians who doubt the authenticity of this report are to be pited.Notwithstanding Abraha Belay’s dislikes to Shabai I don’t believe for a second the report is false. I don’t see the point of his him inventing this story. For the careful oveserver, this doesn’t come as surprise, all that is required is to look back and reflect upon the history of EPPF and Shabian handling of an almost total control, of its members.
That organization has been in the land of Beyond The Mereb ten full years, and for it to remain unproductive such a long time needs explantion.The only logical explanation is EPPF must have been placed under close surveillance and restricted movement. Some reports coming out of Beyond Mereb Milash in the past seems to confirm this view. The alternative argument that the EPPF is rift with incompetence and greed and that the fault lies on the leadership is to weak to explan what has taken place in that organization ,and appear to have been propogated by Shabi as a cover up for her mis-deeds. After all Eppf sought shelter there not for refuge status but for a determined goal and the charge that the leadership is corrupt hardly sticks. Shabian infltration, control and imposed restriction is to be blamed here.
The Harish reality is that Both Isayas and Melese are engaged in systematic ethnic cleansing, sabotage and murder of the Ethiopian Oromos and the Amharas on both fronts, across the Mereb and in Ethiopia.The invitation of EPPF members by Shabian figures under the guise of peace ,and once in the hand of Hamasens to destroy them speaks the deep enemity of Shabian figures. It is one thing for the Hamasen authorities to have difference of opinion with members of EPPF but quite another to commit such heinous crime upon the innocent Ethiopians. Although I can clearly see the motive behind your claim, I can certainly challenge you to come-up with a concrete evidence to support your claims. It is absurd to say 4000 Ethiopian POWs, and 1400 Eritreans (derg collaborators) died on the hand of Sheabia.
Spreading rumor without a shred of evident does not qualify to be a newsworthy.

So the bottom line is that you are not first Ethiopian, you are here to protect your ethnicity period. I have also positive criticism about you. I agree your support of Eritrea and you dream to bring peaceful means between Ethiopia and Eritrea. However, Isayas and Shaebia may have used you to weaken the resistance of Shabia among Ethiopians. I think it might have been naive to believe Isayas/Shabia will have good will for Ethiopia even if it means it is economically viable for both countries. Shaebia/Isayas will go to whom ever benefits Eritrea. For instance the Weyane and outsiders offer more advantage to Shaebia/Isayas than the average Ethiopian activist and others such as you. EPPF took a risk. There should be more recruitment and where to organize if Eritrea fails, keep on moving is my motto… while still negotiating with Eritrea.

Kemal Gelchu is in house arrest because he refused to divide Ethiopia. He fights for the rights of Oromos but he believes in one Ethiopia. So there are 4 parties working against Ethiopia. OLF, Shaebia, ONLF, Weyane and the TPDM seemingly to oppose Meles. This is a done deal because, they might be in negotiation to create greater Eritrea/Tigray and Oromo and Ogaden indpendence destroying the name Ethiopia. Of course these groups have very much convince their allies (Arabs/West) that if Arabs and West allow the existance of Ethiopia then Arabs will not have the upper hand of Nile in Egypt’s case and the West will not have access to resources from Ogaden and Oromo if there is Ethiopia sentiment because when Ethiopians unite they will fight to preserve their sovereignty so Arabs and West are better of in the supporting the cause of Shaebia, Weyane, OLF and ONLF.

While I don’t agree with controlling the whole eritrea, I strongly believe that any true political party who comes with the idea of bringing our historical and righteous ports by any means, could easily secure 99% of the hearts and minds of every Ethiopian from North to South, and East to west. I also blieve that this is the easiest if not the only way to regain the pre-2005 election momentum of change by the people and to break the current political confusions.

When the Woyane declared war on the Eritrean people,the ethio diaspora, specifically the Amharas said eurika, now the Tigrayans shall get us Assab and supported the war. Now when they realised that the woyanes have given up the idea to get Assab, well the Amharas started to drift from the Woyanes and started their opposition. Now, that Shaibia started to support the amharas for the simple reasen that evel woyanes are a course ot the Horn and should be disposed. again the whole amhara in the diaspora were in euphoria and expected the eritreans would do the job.Shaibia realized that these people would not do any change except writing and re-writing articles in the web. Decision is apparently taken to dispose them. They are worthless- easy and simple. They could meet talk in million meetings but organize only 70 fighters in 10 years! What do you do with such organization! Why get the trouble to be charged that you support a worthless oranization by the world community? To tell you the truth, there is no so pricncipled organization as shaibia. Look how it is taking all the pain to stick to its principles regarding Somalia. Rain or sunshine, shaibia always tells the west leave the somalis alone to solve their own problems even with the sanctions looming from all over the west.

They do need to bring store and equality to Ethiopia but this amazing discovery shows that Ethiopia is the home of Hamitic, Cushitic and Semitic absolutely no question about it. It is the outside that have been trying to divide us since Italian occupation. There is no way the word “Ethiopia” will disappear because it is in the BIBLE for crying out loud.
