I agree we need genuine cooperation with all of our neighbours. But I don’t think giving the Eritreans any strategic influence on the future of Ethiopia is a wise move. They are the one who put Ethiopia in its present precarious condition and I don’t think they want to see a soverign strong partner in the country of ours.
Ya! Meles has given Badme and other border areas to Eritrea to maintain realtionship with Eritrea. Ehiopia is now land locked as the result. He has also given land to Sudan so that you cannot fight him from Sudan. What are you also planning to give Eritrea for the realtionship? What is left? Go ahead and we will be sorry to see you as lambs in the mouth of a roaring lion. I want you to know that we will fight you to the teeth. If there is anything we demand out of Eritrea is our claim over Eritrea itself. We can persue that legally.
Let alone Ethio-Eritrea the whole region of the horn of Africa must be united against the puppets of the west who are benting forward to appease their masters. It might be a bitter-sweet the independence of Eritrea for some Ethiopians but they must understand what Eritreans had to endure for the past 60 years or so; what the Eritrean endured in the past 60 years or so was what the average Ethiopian is feeling in todays weyanes rule; if not worse. The people of the region must rise and say all of us together with one voice: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The blind support of America to weyanes is creating unnecessary hatred for many generations to come between the brotherly people of the horn and for this reason we must tell the American law makers respect the people’s wish and stop interfiring in other peoples matters as they don’t to your crisis. The only beneficiaries on the crisis of horn of Africa are: A- Meles and his herds body guards, B- the lobbyist who are earning as much as $50,000 dollars a month, C- the weapons manufactures of the west and east, and D- starvation, HIV/AIDS, and weyanes prostitutes!

Africa is polarized in two groups. One who who want to serve the west and those who don’t. Eritrea belongs to the later one. How is our (serving)relation with the west working for us? Not forming relation with Eritrea is the clear indication for the lack of confidence in the unity of our people. we never created a group or alliance party which represent all Ethiopians as one. Eritrea asks us to unit! This is a golden opportunity to foster unity for defiance and common benefit in Ethiopia and in the neighboring countries. The fear is all in your head.

Please do not get disheartened by some of the myopic chauvinist people in this forum who are against working with the Eritreans. I wish I can be in the Pal talk. But, unfortunately I am at work then.
I simply do not understand what is it that these people wanted Eritrea to do. In reality, Eritrea should have tightly shut down the door with Ethiopia after all the horrible things all the regimes have done to the Eritrean people in the name of “Ethiopians”. Normally a settlement or compensation is granted for the grieved for normal situations to materialize. But, to its credit, considering the very close relationship the Ethiopians and Eritreans have, the Eritrean government decided to forget and forgive and to let bygones be bygones. Why the Eritrean government did that, I think is self explanatory. They really believe that there is a strong religious, cultural, ethical, social and BLOOD relationship among our two peoples that NOBODY can undo. That is a fact whether one wants to admit it or not. It is also a FACT that one would never have guessed that Ethiopia was a “Foreign” country the way it was allowed to use the Eritrean ports with no strings attached for 7 years before the stupid Weyanes decided to boycott the ports with their unattainable evil designs against Eritrea. So, what is all the INVENTED “Port problem” that some Weyane supporters are trying to shove it down our throat?
Sometimes, I am not even sure who these people are. It is possible they may not even be “Ethiopians”. Otherwise, I can not imagine why an Ethiopian or Eritrean would wish our people to remain in the nasty cyclic of war and poverty when the criminal west lead by the United States is abusing its economic and military superiority. These westerners would continue to do what westerners always did. They will want to subjugate us by simply “Divide and rule” techniques IF WE LET THEM! Are we really that short sighted not to see the evil designs of people who do not have the best interest of our people at heart? To me, I will take an Ethiopian or Eritrean anytime over the foreign interests who are hovering over our dying body in the name of alms providers. I don’t need their alms, neither do you! I just want my freedom and independence. So do you! Who said that Eritrea and Ethiopia can not make miracles? What “Miracles”? We have already proved to the world that we can actually achieve them if we have the peace and tranquility we need; and more importantly if we do not let the “holier than thou” war mongers amongst us to spread their venomous “aid” and actually sabotage our natural BOND! Let’s wise up and work together for the betterment of our people. They deserve it and, I am sure, they expect nothing less than that from us!

Nealry 200,000 lives had been perished in the valley and mountains over both nations, nearly $3 billion dollars was wasted over deadly west-east weapons, over $2 billion dollars worth of property was destroyed, and above all the trust between the both nations had gun beyond repaired for many generations to come. And, why do you place such shame on our people specifically; are you telling us that, it is not ok for Tigrians to support but it is perfectly ok for other Ethiopian ethnics not to support? certainely, the way you phrased the sentence would indicate as such. To make my self clear, it is not ok for any ethinic group of Ethiopian state to support such a beligerant action by the out of touch Gov’t. I highly doubted if there is any person of Tigrai origin who would want to see the weakining of Ethiopia by any regime; unless that person is, an accomplice of the current regime or a political operative of the incumbet dictatorship at work; and those cadres could belong to the many ethinic groups of Ethoipia. Therefore I don’t see why you jump on Tigrians like that. I have yet to find one Tigrian in that catagory of support for the give away of Ethiopia’s land. Therefore, your accusation has no fact at all. Please don’t belittle the people of Tigrai, in doing so your strenghtening the resolve of the meles and co. motto that wants the isolation of Tigrains from the rest of Ethiopia. Elias, you did very well. The room that conducted the interview had a mission, and their interest in the back of their minds was surfaced accidentally—as in the slip of a tongue. The fight to secure Ethiopia’s sovereign land and its people’s right will continue. If the interviewers group want to, they can side Woyanie in whatever way they want to. EPPF will not let down their people for the struggle is started and led by the indigenous people, and we shall empower them–nothing less nothing more. We have noticed the real devils in the room that caused all the mess in EPPF, and we also noticed when they were adorned with flowers flying continuously. Our problems are out here in the diaspora; the good thing is they are not in touch with the grass root movement back home. Had they been there, they would have spread their usual poison. For such a set up of events that befell Elias during the ‘Shaebia wicthcraft’, I think yod did well amongst the wolves. Am I the only one that thinks that was a sabotaged event coordinated for maximum effect of villifying any idea or persont that tried to put forth the notion of cooperating with Eritrea for waging an armed struggle or what?
I will be doing deservice if I dont point out a few of the deliberate glicthes:
1) Undermining Elias’ Ethiopian nationaity
2) A weyane supporter “Millen” who was given the chance to speak, kept on repeating a non uncorroborated hearsay about shooting of Afar rebels by ‘Shaebia. Is it not in her knowledge of the debacle with last years weyane’s lies about wiping out the afar rebel group ARDUF, and not weeks later we saw the ARDUF cooperating with the Eritrean government to release the hostages in their custody. Meaning ARDUF, a movement group fighting against the meles regime from Afar region is doing its fight from Eritrea with full cooperation with Eritrea. ARDUF exposed weyane and we all saw it.(Do not try and lie on air, there is a lot of people listening.)
3)”Ethiopians deported from Eritrea had their gold teeth pulled out by Eritreas.” This is one of the most DIABOLICAL allegations thus far!! Its laughable at best. Lets get serious. No such thing occurred, infact this people were so healthy they walked all the way to Addis from Asmara in less than 3 weeks. I guess Tigray is not upto par once you’ve lived in Asmara like you owned it.
4) Not at any time during the whole interview did I hear any mention of the deportation of Eritreans by means of ethnic cleaning perpetrated by the weyane regime. I might have missed it but I’m sure Laureate didn’t even have it in his notes :)

These people, such as Luaret, Millen and so on, are under cover agents of weyane.I have been following these people for a long time. Whene ther`s a treat to weyane power they are the firs to undermine the efforts made by opposition. So how comes you chose these people to convey your ideas. This can do more harm than good to the struggel against weyane.

It was certainly a pathetic and appears to me that it all was a drama designed to keep the unnecessary tension between the Ethiopians and Eritreans alive by repeating the ever present hallucination of snatching Asseb back from Eritrea! It has to be, for there can not be any plausible explanation otherwise of all the exercises which were attempted to show Eritrea and its government in the absolute negative lime light. The statements that were presented as “Facts”, which were obtained by hearsays and innuendos from the rumor mongering machine of the pitiful Weyanes and their collaborators, were allowed to be spewed with no attempt made to ask foe evidence! They wouldn’t even listen to the gentleman who kept on telling them that he was never arrested while in Eritrea or that there was never a threat to arrest him or any of his colleagues and that the Eritreans were minding their business and that they never made any attempt to interfere on their Ethiopian guests’ internal affair!
Oh no, since these people, including the moderator, had already a preconceived plan, they kept on hammering those few progressive and visionary Ethiopians with so much nonsense that one is left wondering if Ethiopia will ever going to join the line of independent and forward thinking nations. Well, I certainly hope so if nothing else to the benefit of the poor and decent Ethiopians on whose name all this destruction is being carried out in the entire Horn region with the full acquiesce and support of the modern day cowboy.
I followed yesterday’s discussion, if you call it discussion, looked to me like it was designed to demonize brother Elias, the good thing is Elias didn’t get pushed around by some emotional and hate filled people in the pal talk. Some of them were spreading out and out lies of Woyanne again and again. I think they are afraid their lies will be exposed to the Ethiopians in the diaspora once the Ethiopian opposition is united and has their headquarters in Asmara until they liberate Ethiopia from Woyanne occupation. You are on the right track Elias, keep up the good work, the average Eritrean and Ethiopian in the diaspora supports your views and the hard work you are doing to bring about change in Ethiopia.
As an Eritrean I can tell you internal squabble and ignorance is part of any struggle for freedom. When the EPLF was formed in the 1970s to correct the wrong headed approach of the then ELF they were demonized, some even called Isaias Afewerki at that time he was on the pay roll of Ethiopians, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone if people question Elias’ patriotism, it is part of life to be labeled by such wrong headed, hate filled and uniformed people to think that way. Stay on course and things will change slowly but surely. Freedom is neither free nor easy, it requires a lot of sacrifice.
