‘Time to whip Ethiopian Review into shape’ (Ethiomedia)

Hopefully Ethiomedia doesn’t mind the re-posting of its article about Ethiopian Review here >>

– – – – – – – – – –

ETHIOMEDIA EDITOR’S NOTE – Ethiomedia has received articles that seriously criticize Elias Kifle, editor of Ethiopian Review, over his remarks that have increasingly become unethical, irresponsible and destructive to the interests and aspirations of Ethiopians. Elias, who is perhaps the only person running towards Eritrea at a time when Eritreans are fleeing in every possible direction to save their lives, has brought himself under fire. We hope the editor, who has been generous in attacking others whose ideas don’t agree with his, would be careful enough to accept criticisms with grace, and learn a lesson or two. Following is a commentary by Ephrem Madebo:

“Never kill them before they grow”
By Ephrem Madebo

“Every time I plant a seed, he said kill them before they grow.” This is a living lyric from the late vibrant Reggae star, Bob Marley’s classic – “I shot the Sheriff.” If Marley were alive today, I am sure he would have sung another song with the same lyrics to the likes of Ethiopian Review editor who, like a bad tagboat, throws away every new idea that he doesn’t agree with.

I had a close association with the ER editor years ago in the heydays of “Tegbar League.” In fact, I joined the “Tegbar League” group discussion forum at the request of the moderator (the ER editor), and I was expelled when I openly criticized Lidetu Ayalew for his 2002 crude action. Mind you the ER editor is the very person that blames Meles Zenawi for muffling the free press, but he himself didn’t even think twice before he silenced me in his little world. What a hypocrisy! Regardless of the nature of the ideas, I usually keep small ideas at the personal level. This week after I read two indiscriminately misguiding articles on Ethiopian Review website, I decided to go public because I thought total silence does not do any good to the public.

Towards the end of last week, I read an article on Ethiopian Review that brought to light a covert negotiation between OLF and Ginbot 7. The article inadvertently reveals a possible political breakthrough that has the potential to change the course of history in Ethiopia. If the information that came to light is authentic, I applaud the investigative cleverness of the ER sources for digging deep and informing the public on what is to come, I also appreciate their effort in trying to directly or indirectly put pressure on the leaders of the opposition camp. Here is the part that I totally disagreed and demanded an explanation. For those of you who didn’t have the chance to read ER’s article on the clandestine meeting of Ginbot 7 and OLF, here is the warning of the ER editor to the two organizations [OLF, Ginbot 7] and to the rest of us:

“ER sources in both Ginbot 7 and OLF are not ready to disclose where the secret talks are being held, but for maximum political effect, any agreement that they reach needs to be signed in Asmara. Any one who doubts the significant role the Eritrean government can play in destroying Woyanne is either politically ignorant, or a closet Woyanne sympathizer, or does not fully comprehend the severity of the crisis our country is facing.”

I’m not sure whether the editor is acting from his inner feeling, or out of his imagination, but at least I do understand that when people act under the influence of imagination, there is no boundary for their passion. Imagination is the formation of a mental image of something that is not perceived as real and is not present to the senses. It is good to allow the image of the outside world have an input in our way of thinking, scheming, contriving, remembering, creating, fantasizing, and forming opinion, but we must understand that politics and everything we do must be accompanied by passion and driven by principle because too much imagination kills both principle and passion.

I wonder what in the “Hell” Asmara has to do with the likely outcome of political events in Ethiopia. Isn’t Asmara the home of Esayas Afewerke, a man who never sleeps before he makes sure that Ethiopia is reduced to multiple mini states? Had there been an inch thick of a heart that worries for Ethiopia under the chest of Essays, Asmara wouldn’t have opened its door for separatist elements that fight to dismantle Ethiopia, and for EPPF; an organization that firmly stands for the unity of Ethiopia. If there is anything that the opposition gets from Asmara today, it will definitely be paid back at an exorbitantly high price tomorrow. The question of Assab, Bademe, Tsorena, and other border areas that I can’t even name are issues that face the current opposition in the future when it assumes power. If we believe that Esayas is willing to raise a lion that may ultimately devour him, we’re not just lying through our teeth, but we are also simplifying very complex national issues.

Another very important issue that the Ethiopian Review editor must understand is that we Ethiopians can respectfully disagree with him in many issues without he calling us “politically ignorant, or Woyanne sympathizers.” As an editor, he must strike the balance between the flow of ideas and the interest of the public. An editor must appreciate dissent and accept criticism. By the way, isn’t the very essence of our struggle built on the values of respectful disagreement and on the principles of working together for a common cause? When an editor seeks freedom of speech for himself, he/she becomes captive of his/her desire and misguides millions of people. But, when an editor seeks discipline, he/she guides the freedom journey of the masses to victory. The era of blanket condemnation and character assassination is over. Editors, or readers, what we do and what we say should clearly identify on which part of the isle we stand. Here is a script from ER editor’s message this week:

“Let’s go straight to the crux of the matter: UDJ by its actions and positions had demonstrated itself to be a political party without a popular base. It is a fake party without popular constituency.”

How do we measure the popularity of political parties? What makes some parties real and others fake? I might not give you the answer for these two questions, but I can at least say the following: The ER editor has neither the moral background nor the empirical authenticity to publicly declare that UDJ is a fake party with no political constituency. How dare a man who like me enjoys burgers at the comfort of a “drive-in,” calls UDJ a fake party with no political constituency? Which constituency are we talking here? Isn’t UDJ a party that collected more than 10,000 signatures in few days when the government required 1500? Isn’t Bertukuan a lady who with no fear confronted Zenawi’s wicked legal system in her professional life? Didn’t this same relentless defender of democracy waste two years of her precious young life in Kaliti prison for our common cause? Regardless of their choice of strategy, Bertukan and other members of UDJ have demonstrated their undeterred will to endlessly stand for the true cause of democracy.

There are many people in Ethiopia who preferred to live a quiet life to confronting Meles. Again there are many of us who raced out to the Western world because Meles screamed at us. Members of UDJ are still in Ethiopia knowing that they might be targets of Zenawi’s killing squads. These people need support and protection, not abuse and senseless mortification. UDJ has taken its first step; let’s give them the necessary time and support to have them show us the whole staircase. If we have no patience of looking deep into the future, then we need to take a lesson from the biblical story of Noah. Remember, there was no rain when Noah built the ark. He built it anyways when others ridiculed him because he had a good vision of the future. Criticizing our political parties is the right thing to do, but killing them before they grow is wrong. There are many things that we can do to collectively get closer to victory. If anything else, please let’s avoid any feeling of bitterness towards others because bitterness is a cancer that eats upon the host.

Evidently, the proliferation of political parties has a tendency to water down the strength of the opposition camp, but this does not and should not imply that we as a nation should be limited to one party. Even if we believe in the idea of one party, we just don’t have to kill existing parties when we embrace new comers. Our belief is ours and ours only; we can sell it to others, but we must not impose our belief on the general public. UDJ has chosen to stay inside Ethiopia and wage a peaceful struggle. To those of us who have a different strategy, UDJ can be our good ally inside Ethiopia. Some of us might not want to have UDJ as an ally, so be it; but this doesn’t mean that UDJ is our enemy. We must make a distinction between a friend, a potential friend, and a foe. In politics, there is neither permanent alliance nor permanent animosity.

  1. Elias,

I know you will erase my short comment as you did more than once before. Basically, my comments are neither very mature analysis of anybody’s stand nor personal attacks on anybody. I just wanted to say that since there alternative means to achieve desired goals, let us avoid attacking the wrong people. If UDJ’s understanding of peaceful struggle differs from our (your) view, YOU SHOULD let them go their way and you continue you chore for the end game, which I believe is to replace Woyanne by leaders from the people, by the people and to the people. We do net have to attack others in order to show our importance.

    Thanks

  2. There is an amharic saying “gim le gim abreh azgim”. Elias is stubborn and I see no hope that he will accept criticizm. But this will be like many said a turning point in the money making website’s future. Dont lose like Merchaw, you could do better.

  3. Elias,

This is a much deserved criticism of your cavalier attitude towards journalism in general and Ethiopian politics in particular. If you ever thought that people flock to ER for edification by the ill conceived and shallow minded views and analysis of its editor, you are more of a fool that I thought. Let me tell you, most people come here for the timely aggregated news and your alleged investigative reporting (dirt digging) and nothing else.

Therefore it is incumbent upon you to invest more of your time in what you are good at and less on opining nonsense about lady liberties turned traitors and golden carriages and golden shoes turned into bumpkins and mice at midnight.

I hope you will not discard this post like my previous ones.

  4. This is another clear indication of the failure of the Agaazi propaganda ministry and its surrogates at Ethiomedia to silence ER.

The courageors editor of ER refusal to tow the official comatose diaspora’s elite line of lets drive the Eritreans into the Red Sea or bring Assab back has to be commended.

It is high time for those who love Ethiopia and want to save it, before the unthinkable happens, to start thinking outside the box and chart a new strategic and tactical road map to hsten the Agaazi Tribal Council’s demise.

  5. A blind spot for all Ethiopians.

To start with, Why does TPLF want to talk with Eritrea before formal demarcation takes place? As A/S of State for Foreign Affairs Jendyai Fraiser and others clearly admitted that TPLF want to close every opposition group office in Asmara, ie OLF in return TPLF will implement the agreement. Condaliza Rice called and many others but the president of Eritrea didn’t want to talk because he knows what they want: to prolong the life of TPLF. So, do you guys happen to think what happens if Eritrea and TPLF get along. Where does it take the Ethiopian opposition group. Eritrea is doing a great favor for Ethiopians by not signing the deal. but we are to hatefull to see the truth. as time runs out they might get together and we will not see the light of freedom for decades to come. Sibhate Nega is crying like a baby to make peace with Shaebia. We dont have time, enough snoozing.

  6. Elias has been playing a highly unintentional negative roll on the Diaspora politics. I believe he caused significant damages on Ethiopian struggle. For example, during the split of Kinijit several times he poured cold water on the Ethiopian struggle; as a result, he made people feel sad and made them wonder about the behaviors of most Ethiopians.

Although one of the trade marks of Ethiopians characteristics is their respect for their elders, Elias publicly has been tearing apart people of all ages including elders.

Hopefully this article and the people comments that are related with this article would give him some ideas about what have been thinking about him.

Elias listen to what people are trying to communicate with you and apologize about your negative effects on our struggle.

  7. If my article appears in this list. I woul say. thank you Ephraim Madebo and Ethiomedia editor, Because I had the same problem when I write my comment on ER,”JOROWUN GOTITO METAL”. ER should know to whom he is posting and expecting comments and lessons.

    ahumim kameletsh melkam menged yiknash…….

  9. My Dear Elias, thank you very much for your pro-Eritrea stand and your sympathy to the PFDJ. Please Keep up the good work and I look forward to see you in Asmara for consultations on how to strengthen relations with your Ginbot-7 and the OLF, EPPF, ONLF and few other Ethiopian opposition groups. Love you!

  10. After reading both Madebo’s and Tesfaye maru’s comments and analayzing the previous services of Ethiomedia and ER I have to say this:
    1. Both Madebo and Tesfaye’s comments do nto really provide any meanigful solutions to the quagmire that we are in even though Tesfaye has been more reasonable in addresseing the issue of supporting the UDJ in trying to do what they can under the circumstances.
    2. Ethiomedia and ER both served Ethiopians in providing information to theEthiopian diaspora, especially after the 2005 end of the wey’ aane’ era but one can not deny that they also have their own perogatives and looking at things, one being sympathatic to tigran weyanes and the other to eritreans, which has been reflected in their choice of words and/or type of articles/issues they present. However under the circumstances Ethiopia is in now they are the choices we have unless we come up with bettermediums that really recognize Ethiopian Andenet and Ethiopiawenet. In saying this I am not indicating that Abraha or Elias are less Ethipians than any of us but they are part of the bigger Ethiopian picture that we (minus divisive t[lf ot eplf’s) all are part of. Democracy is not and shoiuld not be viewed as one way of looking at things or else. ER, Ginbot 7, UDJ, and even Ethiomedia and all other nationalist parties that do not want to compromise on the soverignity and integrity (not just the land but all people’s)of Ethiopia would be part of the democratic struggle in Ethiopia.
    3. If we said they are al part of the struggle, then what is the probem? It is falling for the divisive tactics of the weyane and in one form or another trying to get our issues get attention at a devastative cost of another one of our fellow Ethiopian. And in this aspect neither of the four, i.e. ER, Ethiomedia, Madebo, or Tesfaye or (with the exception of Ginbot 7 and UDJ) any other ones come clean of the charges, which would bring us to what needs to be done?
    4. At the face of mounting attacks by tplf jelaes and other confused ethiopians we need to keep our cool and try to resolve our problems in civilized manner by bringing our issues with evidence backed analysis and providing room for other ideas to flow and learn from one another. In this aspect even though ER is widely known for using many hard words especially on the unelected junta in Ethiopia, the choice of word by Ethiomedia in the title here “TO WHIP” is very inflammatory, divisive and aggravating one to respond harshly. I for one would need to remind Abraha Belai that Elias is one of his fellow Collegues that showed his stance by becoming one of “YE’ KURT KEAN LIJOCH OF ETHIOPIA” and doesn’t deserve to be whipped. I would say all of us need to use restraint and try to have a teachable spirit to learn from one another and try to keep the spirit of unity that the tplf junta try to kill if we want our dignified Ethiopiawinet to come back. People in Ethiopia are showing the ruthless junta that the can not kill their dignity regardless of what, WE IN THE DIASPORA NEED TO LEARN A LOT FROM OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN THE COUNTRY. THANK YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS ETHIOPIA AND ETHIOPIANS!!!

  11. Elias, I have said it before. And I am going to say it again, but indirectly. You are immature. Is that indirect enough?

The only reason you posted the comment from Ethiomedia.com was so that you can abuse and insult both Abraha Belay and Elias Madebo, annonymously. I can see more than a few of the comments are your own, the ones that were flagrantly rude.

You remember all those comments you and I exchanged regarding the lies of Berhane Mewa, only you pretended to be someone else? Your rude and immature comments are your trade marks.

You can check my IP number, I am not from the USA.

  12. Elias, now is the time you to learn Eritrians are not ethiopians and will never be. From the begining you are Esayas’ man shading under the Ethioian opposition. You did good job for your country Eritrea but you have never been neither journalistic fair or humanly just when you insult(not critizise) heros like Dr. Taye, Hailu Shawel and may others. Hailu may be stubborn but undisputivly a hero who confronted weyane for years when we all were out of the country and eat fat western humbergers.

Now is your turn to pay back, goes round; comes round. Your might is over. As you wished it for others just drink it for yourself. You think for yourself that you are somebody and Ethiopians observing you for long. Eritreans never ask what Essayas is doíng? They ‘enjoy’ their ‘Freedom’. you underestimates Ethiopians. But Ethiopians usually watch patiently and make their mind when the season comes. Now, the time is over for your esponage to command the ethiopian opposition under Shabia/Eritrea.

Don’t worry you will not be alone. Unless they change their Shabiaism strategy Birhanu, Andargachew,OLFians,ONLfinas and all the rest hastler politicians will follow you soon. You all know that your political life is based on refugee-hastling. Like it was in the 90’s and 80’s there will soon be so many like you to hastle and so few to be hastled on refugee/community trics.

As for you it seems it is a matter of an order from Essayas’ security office from Asmara that forced you to make or to break. But Ethiopians are not Eritreans, we are to wises. That’s why this time, you break. Your bosses from Asmara push you too hard to the extent you become disparate and disfigure your hard work that takes you many years to achive as an open medial spy. The fall of¨an eye of the needle¨.

    Happy retierment

  13. Elias keep up the good work! Only Weyane supporters are opposing you. Most Ethiopians, Eritreans and Somalians are behind you. Don’t hesistate to destroy weyane. I heard Ethiomedia is Agame.

  14. We all know where Elias stands. He stands for just and fair Ethiopia to all.
What we don’t know is where Ethiomedia stands for? From what we know, Ethiomedia stands for people like Seye Abraha and the nationalist Tigraians who bled Ethiopia and left it landlocked.
Elias has been opposing Woyanies for many many years way before Ethiomedia was created but Ethiomedia rose up only when the southern Tigraian nationalists were ousted by a wily and smarter Tigrain, aka, Meles Zenawi.
This makes Ethiomedia a very parochial website, while Elias’ Ethiopian Review is one of the few Pan Ethiopian web sites.
Elias calls a spade a spade whether the massacre is in Dessie, Bahirdar, Addis, Jimmma, Ogadien or our brothers and sisters in Somalia because justice begins at home. That is the reason Elias will call the Agazee invaders in Somalia by their slave names.

  15. Oh my God Elias is driving all weyane sympathizers through the roof. Watch, tomorrow suicide rate for weyane will be on the rise.

Keep it up Elias, put the pressure up on the tribalists.

  16. Elias keep up the good work, and don’t listen to Ethiomedia.

You guys why you whippping Elias? He is a good guy and he has been our good friend for a log time. Above all he is helping as achiveing our objectives in what we want to accomplish in Ethiopia.

  17. Why did the Woyannie’s sentence Elias Kifle of the Ethiopian Review for “life imprisonment” in absentia after the rigged 2005 Election, by a Woyannies Federal Court?
Why was Ethiopian Review and Elias Kifle singled out among many opposition web sites? Why was Ethiopian Review the first web site to be blocked out from Ethiopia by Woyannies?
The answer is short: Elias’ Ethiopian Review is the only opposition web site that matters a lot among all the opposition in diaspora.

To Woyannie-Tigraians, Elias is their number one target!

This is the only web site that harms and exposes Woyanies to the bone. There is no match against Ethiopian Review in the cyber media, even with all the government budget and all the Woyannie-Tigraian volunteers, none can come close to Ethiopian Review. So, no wonder, every rifraf is ganging up on Elias but to no avail. Why? Because Elias is the only person in the diaspora web sites who has put his life on line.
Elias, keep up the good work. Keep on exposing the tribalist Woyannies and thier crimes everywhere including Moqadisho and Kebridahar.

  18. with mine it will be 169 comments. that’s amazing. so Elias now u become Larry king. they should talk about the crimes on ethiopians, instead they talk about you. ethiomedia, nazret.com are pro-woyanne, just they are against meles. so they will hate anyone who is against woyanne, anyone who is concerned about ethiopians. keep on elias

  19. Stop Crying Kinijit is already in place to lead the Struggle of the Ethiopian People to democracy.

    Viva Hailu Shawul !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Ethiomeadia’s Abraha Belai is a Trojan Horse who pretends to be in the opposition camp but who is secretly fighting for the supremacy of Tigre over the rest of Ethiopia. This disgusting creature at Ethiomedia has no business criticizing Elias who is an honest Ethiopian fighting for the betterment of Ethiopia

  21. EthiopianReview.com, the ‘pressure cooker’ of weyane is under direct fire from weyane lovers and their stooges like ethiomedia.com. This worth less individuals want to continue to benefit from leaching off of Ethiopia. They exercised their divide and rule game to weaken us and now the heat coming from Elias’ kitchen is burning them so they try and defame this nationalist heroe’s good name.
The whole Ethiopian people are wise to your failed tactics. Ethiomedia has proved time and again they stand for weyane more than the removal of that brutal regime.

Weyane silenced our people back in Ethiopia and now it wants to try and silence our diaspora voice. It will not happen! Elias continue what you are doing…You make us all proud!

  22. What’s it with some of you Ethiopians who seem to jump and make irrational statements about Eritrea and its people even when the topic on hand has nothing to do with it? Are you still (after 17 years) on a state of denial that Eritrea with its two ports is a sovereign nation? Don’t mind about how it’s governed for that’s something that should be left for Eritreans. I wish you’d clean up your own mess brought about by the criminal Meles and his TPLF gangs and, your ignorance for not seen who is the major threat to Ethiopia at the present time. The fact the world can testify is that Ethiopia minus Asab(the Eritrean Port some elites are obsessed with)is blessed with natural resouces, given peace and stabilty, can feed not only itself but the entire African continent. What it is not blessed with is a leadership with a broad vision that would put the interest of the people first. Why, you should ask, is it there’s a talk of famine in this fertile land called Ethiopia? How long are you going to continue blaming nature for such misfortunes? Can someone please see the correlation between famine and governance or lack of it and try to come up with a lasting solution to the problem so that no Ethiopian go to bed hungry, ever?. The Meles regime and the previos leaders have been so blinded with greed and hate, they caused so much pain and suffering to the people of Eritrea while, at the same time, ignoring their own people’s plea for a better living conditions at home. The sad thing is that some Ethiopians are still expressing their hate towards Eritreans and day dreaming about the issue that was ressolved long time ago. Belay Abraha is one of those advocates of “Abay Tigray” who pushed Ethiopians into unnecessary war with Eritrea with a false promise”i.e. Asab”. It looks like, thanks to some open minded Ethiopians, his hidden, ethnisist agenda is exposed for everyone to see.

  23. ETHIOMEDIA is a sister web site of Aiga Forum, and equivalent to the Woyane mouthpiece called REPORTER. Abraha Belai is no more than a disgruntled Woyane courtesy of “Siye Abrahas” failed coupdetat. Ephrem Madebo’s writing is a way of offering himself to Woyanes as a potential “Abadula Gemeda” of the Southern Nations. The campaign against Ethiopian Review and its editor is not accidental but a calculated move – needless to say most of the players are agents of Woyane or Chauvinists.

ELIAS keep up the good work!!!

  24. wow wow, i have never seen woyanes cult crying like this. I think elias, is right. His prediction is , exactly right. I remember when elias, was interviewed with ETN, he said “woyane Yemiferaw ena Yemidenegetelet buden Binore Shabiya Bicha newe” BINGO! BINGO! Isn’t elias, is great. Keep it up elias. Ignore those Alekelaki woyane sympathaizers

  25. It sounds to me that Woyanes and the likes feel seriously threatened by the friendship of Eritreans and Ethiopians. Well.. they should be!
Great job Elias.. together we’ll wipeout these gangsters so we may live in peace and harmony.

  26. These are the true opposition if they can do it. http://www.ethiopiazare.com/the-news/1-latest-news/282-aeup
I dont have faith in their conviction but they are loyal to Ethiopia people. Please tell them i told you so, Elias . These people are morons to think Birtukan is for real. I knew it smells fishy from the start. What is wrong with Proff Mesfin. Thanks God, Hailu Shawel and his crew, Birtukan will not take us for a ride as legitmate opposition.

  27. Elias, Ethiopia and its long term interests are more than Woyane, Shabya or any other individual benefits. While we want to get rid of Woyane that does not mean you are by any measure pro Ethiopia. Every thing you do stands for Eritrean interest; and the only thing that makes you different than other Ethiopian enemies is that you disguise as Ethiopian and some people believe you. You will never succeed and your end will be Eritrea.

  28. The point is this:
where is the evidence that support his rant
Show me any evidence that shows Esaias wants to dismantle Ethiopia.Quite the contrary Esaias in a number of occusions said he supports Ethiopian Unity.
I do not know why this man choose personal attacks against the respected Elais,By saying he is funded by Eritrean government. This is defamation. If he has evidence bring it on.
Elais (unlike Ethiomedia and others) wants a long term relationship with Eritrean brothers not By force, like Mengustu did and failed, not Like Meles Style with division and ethnic federalism, which is failing misserably, but creating a mutula relationship based on brotherhood and understanding
.Ethiomedia are using old Mengistu tactics, which failed misserably, which forces people to unite with out their wish,They still Call Eritrea,”Kifle Hager Eritrea”.Tell me is this not tried by Mengistu before.
When I first saw this article I said’wait a minute it this Aiga forum of weyane”?Because the rants are frivilous and with out basis and personal attacks, like weyane does
People we have to thank God for Elais who is creating an opening where the people of the horn can live in peace, united more than before,in spirit of understanding and tolerance. We should encourage him.
We can not go to old tried politics like ethiomedia is doing.Mengistu tried it and failed misserably.Lets move beyond this.
3.ethiomedia beleives we can get rid Meles by introducing endless HRs(Ethiopian acountability act in the U.S congress),we begg to differ ,Meles understands only thing-Force.Our people are bleeding. It is time to act not by personal attacks, like Ethiomedia is doing, but by uniting with a common cause, and with a vision,to see one day a United ethiopia from South to North.

  29. A RESPONSE #75 (kinijit); The hailu sahile’s die-hards battling on through the last handful of supporters from dispora (USA) must be starting to feel like those Japanese soldiers who used to turn up on Pacific islands decades after the end of the Second World War, still refusing to believe it was really over. The feels like a minor skirmish, taking place long after the main fighting has already taken place elsewhere, so even though it promises A moral boost for hilu and his supporter’s, it will do little to change the overall course of the battle.

  30. I think Elias will learn that this is not the first time he is criticized for being stubborn to say my way or high way.
Some of the supporters of dictatorship in the name of democracy mimic Elias in their comment. Wha a shame for a person a group clim to be democratic and on the other hand demonizing a group or person who is having different opinion. Tell me if this is democracy. Solve your problem first befoe attacking others for not dancing with your tunes.

  31. I hope you, Elias, open and reevaluate what you are doing.

I am surprised you post this article in your web site. Is this for publicity to polish your bad image? Deeds speak a lot, we are watching you?

  32. I don’t surprise what the article criticized Elias because everybody know that Amahara has a problem when ever something related with Eritrean there will be against instead focus on their objective. So, Amahara never be practical except siting in abroad and talk, they don’t want to sacrifice for anything just they want to ruler without hardship. Therefore,Ethiopians especially should understand that without give there is no take!!!

  33. Elias,

IO can’t express my delight to read the editorial notes of the Ethiomedia and the article by Ephrem Madebo.

However, I’m disappointed by the ideas circulated by some of the reader. Unless argument and critics are sins and taboos in the ER political discourse, such tradition need to be appreciated.

I would be very happy if the opinion of the readers focuses on the basic ideas than the ethnic backgrounds. Trying to intimidate the author of Ethiomedia for being from Tigray would have a negative repercussion.

I think Elias himself should dissociate himself from such chauvinists and boldly denounce such narrowminded approaches.

    Sincerely,

    Kulfo

  34. iF SOMEONE THINKS Eritrea was not part of abyssinia 500 years ago, he or she is INSANE. IF some one thinks that Eritrea has not been part of Ethiopia and will never be part of Ethiopia he or she is RIGHT and REALISTIC.

  35. woooow!where is the last comment, finally i got to write my comment .this article is the first more pople give comment to me since i start chalking jank ER web. any way mr ELIAS KFLEZGI you have to know more knowlegible real ethiopian live in this planet even if they don’t like woyanes so you can write your fiction or garbeg news with you little knowlege we open and you web every day LEMEDEBER NOT LEKUMNEGE DON’T BE think EVERY DAY ALL THOSE your SUPPORTER.

  36. The woyane decoy Ethiomedia is trying to tarnish the good image of a true Ethiopian patriot Ato Elias. The minority Tigraians now want to divide true Ethiopians in the cyber so they could police Ethiopia by Agazi and by Ato Belay in the cyber. Keep up the good job, we are with you all the way Ato Elias.

  37. Elias,
This is a wake up call. As I always say about ER not because he crticizing other Groups. But ER/Elaia lucks “Ehtiopiaw Chewanet” Somtime rude and an Ethical
    Please Grow up !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. Elias… since your interview was aired on ETN, it has given all the weyane restless nights and a daunting future.
You have to up the pressure on thiese guys..and push for a stronger and direct relationship between Ethiopians and Eritreans.
You nailed it when you said that the only thing that sends a chill up these chigarams’ spine is the word ; Asmara.
So go ahead with your plan and conduct a campaign to strengthen that relationship and let us, Ethiopians and Eritreans, all enter an era of cooperation out of respect and genuine care.

The way to kick weyane out is through coordinated effort with the Eritreans.
    We are with you Elias!

  39. #190 unrealistic.

500 years ago there was no Eritrea, there was no Abyssinia (only in the minds of medival European monks). One thing for sure, there was Ethiopia, history books tell us the Emperor was Atse Lebna Dengel.

Eritrea was part of Ethiopia, even just less than twenty years ago. As for the future, don’t loose sleep about it, it will never be part of Ethiopia again. The Ethiopian people do not want that, but I can guarantee you once a truly Ethiopian government comes to power, Eritrea will be cut into two, you will loose your ports, you will be landlocked, and you will bear the pain of the Ethiopian people what it means to have your country divided by force. Then you will cease to exist. Mark my word, its just a matter of time.

  40. Sorry Guys,

Was that the brother or the son ot just some thing of the late Temesgen Madebo, who was once Mengistu Hailemariam’s chief communist Cadre in East Shoa? Sorry he was a victim of the Mengistu eara Red – White Terrors.

  41. #196 you are realistic,

You are dead right about Eritrea. Ethiopians do not need and do not want Eritreans. It was a mistake when we were trying to keep them with us.

We loved them. We respected them. And we saw them as our brothers and sisters. But they turned out to be blood suckers. They sucked our blood almost to death, and now one man who is worse than Mengistu is sucking their blood to death.

Let them suffer and let them use our sea ports to let their camels drink from it for a moment and when one true Ethiopian government comes to power we take back our ports.
But for sure we do not need Eretria and Eritreans anymore.

  42. I have never read such a skewed story as the one you have tried to spew above. Your ‘red herring’ tactics are all too familiar to real Ethiopians who know you are on a tirade to shift focus.
Well..its not going to work..Lets stay focused here and engage ways to overcome our African empass we call: the cancer of the horn, ‘weyane’. Weyane’s cadre have been working day in day out to sow seeds of hate between Eritreans and Ethiopians. They succeeded in the beginning and duped a lot of Ethiopions into thinking Eritrean’s are the enemy. Ethiopians are now well aware of the single enemy to peace in the horn. Eritrea’s image although tarnished at first, it now very clear that they are geared to building their nation on their own. Eritreans have seen enough war in the past 50 years and in all honesty that is more than enough for one nation. And to dismiss a true need for peace among Eritreans and simply state ,’..war is all they know…they like war…all they know is fighting..they hate Ethiopians..'” IS QUITE SHALLOW! We dont hate Ethiopians…We know the only thing that is inhibiting PEACEFULL CO-EXISTNCE is WEYANE ! PERIOD!

You can see how troubling this notion of cooperation is to weyane cadre’s and stooges. They are all over the page.
This is a campain waged from Menelik to damage the publisher and ER’s image.
Elias I have respect for your stance! Keep it up, true Ethioipians are behind you all the way!

  43. Dear Efrem:

I respect your write to air your concern, but you could have more credibility if you tell the truth. I specifically remember why you left Tegbar in 2002. My recollection is that it was because Elias criticized Beyene Petros as a weak leader and a tool for Woyanne. It was not because you spoke out against Lidetu, who was at that time the most popular Ethiopian politician.

  44. ”KELKELLO SILICHA,SILICHA KELKELLO”;WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIGAFORUM AND ETHIOMEDIA ONE DOES IT INFRONT OF THE OTHER DOES IT HIDDEN(IN SUPPORT OF SIYE-GEBERU).WHAT IS THE CHANGE FOR ETHIOPIA AND ETHIOPIANS-‘WUHA BEWOKETUT EMBOCH’.ER GO ON WITH YOUR FANTASTIC JOB….
