Hailu Shawel gang disrupted Kiniit council meeting in Addis Ababa

A group of unknown individuals claiming to be followers of Hailu Shawel blocked Kinijit supreme council members from entering their party’s office to attend today’s emergency meeting. Some of the individuals pushed around Dr Hailu Araya and Ato Muluneh Eyoel, and tried to take away their cellphones. The security guards also told the council members to go way saying that the office belongs to AEUP, not Kinijit. Ethiopian Review will interview Kinijit spokesperson today at 2:00 PM EST.   3. There is only one person responsbile for all these to happen, Hailu Shawel. Just living is not enough. one needs to have sunshine, freedom and a little flower said butterfly. This old gang and his yes group are holding their little flower at the expense of our long efffort. This time EPRDF so called police departement does not act. it will get rather reason to through them all in jail. I think the true leaders should be very careful at this time. They should not give any room to get quarrel with those worthless hired gangs of Hailu to make things worse.

    You are too fast to judge and condemn hailu Shauel.I don’t think this story is true, it sounds fiction. if there was really an attempted confrontation,that could have been from Woyane security agents.

  12. I hope and pray that the Kinijit Council wasn’t actually expecting to be permitted to the premises of AEUP; I would like to think this was a political maneuver to run through Kinijit’s bylaws and a show of good faith by all concerned.

    Now that incidents like this has happened more than once, it will be safe to assume this is by design and not by accident and as such, the council is entitled to change the venue for the next meeting and I hope they will do just that.

  13. It does not make any difference whether the gangs that purposely disrupted the Supreme Council meeting are from Woyanne or from Hailu Shawel. This incident, however, tells us that Kinijit has many armed and unarmed enemies as well as many innocent friends.

  14. This is tragic; Seble wonders if such a story like the one being discussed is a fiction. I doubt that it’s a fiction. It is more reasonable to think it’s a true story given all the evidence that we’ve.

    Now I’m not sure why not the Kinjit leaders get together somewhere without announcing to the media and conduct their meetings? Why would the actual meetings need to be announced? Why not just get the info to those that need to be at the meeting and meet and discuss the issues and find a way to communicate the results with the media and refuse to tell where they would get together to do their job?

    This idea might sound silly at first but then what we see in reality might make such an idea a prudent one and worth considering. Let the leaders make the point of holding meetings as Kinjit leaders has nothing to do with the venues where they meet. Then decide to meet at one of the Kinjit leader’s or any person’s place, without announcing this to anyone, and finally announce the results of what has been done.

    I think the above idea makes sense in a country like Ethiopia where there is no right to assembly, in reality, and all other kinds of rights and freedom are denied systematically, all the time, ever. Kinjit is like any other underground political movement at this time in its history, at least, for some time, and why not pursue all kinds of peaceful ways of assembling as I suggested above and continue to figure out better ways of doing their jobs?

    Or, I urge Kinjit leaders to come up with strategies much more sophisticated and hence better than any one can easily figure out just in order to bring their efforts to nothing as we’re observing these days.

  16. Elias thank you for the first account information regarding the brutal Eng. Hailu who is now working with woyane to creat havoc on the popular leaders.Eng. Hailu and his corrupted frends action only result in strengthen the stugele in mor organised and civilised way. Eng. Hailu is now without a doubt working with woyane to take KINJIT name and destroy it.

  19. now hailu is working with woyane. how is this happen in the state conducting rules and while others other unable to gather to demenostrate and express their feelings. the woyane is behind it.

  20. Most likely this is the work of ‘Woyane’ security gangs. They are exploiting the door wide-oppened to them by Hailu; and this will continue in the future. They are creative enough to pretend as supporters of Hailu. Remember how they managed to use their agents like Lidetu and the young man that worked againist Professor Merera Gudina.

    For me I do not expect any more meaningful leadership activity to happen at home without implementation of HR2003. Rather, the most productive and feasible option is to strengthen AFD and the like to provide a unified leadership from abroad.

  21. I am sick and tired of this monster, Hailu Shawel. He is more cruel and dictator than Meles himself. I think the two can be very good friends. What is he thinking he is doing? How long is he allowed to contunue like this? How long are the true Kinjit leaders allowing him to dance around? They should do something very soon. I cannot understand why they should go to the office that still have AEUP sign. Why do they not go somewhere else and do their meeting? They have already seen that they are not welcome there. Why should they still stick to something that doesn’t work? Our leaders, please leave this yetarik atela behind and roll! Please!

    When ever I heard all the lies, fabricated stories and such stupid decisions from Hailu Shawl and his groups, some thing come to my mind. Why did Dr. Taye refuse to dismantle KIC? And he is now planning to go to Addis to lead the party. Some thing is going on. We need to remember about Solomon Tekalign.

    Dr. Taye has tried to be famous in the Ethiopian teachers association. Actually, he became famous when EPRDF puts him in prison for six years, not by bringing any political change in the country. However, economists, lawyers, engineers, linguistics and other professionals make a significant and historical change in Ethiopia’s politics. This was hard for Dr. Taye to accept since he always puts himself on top of the countries politics and did not make any difference in his field. So, now he wanted to use the opportunity and is working hard using the ego of Hailu Shawel to take over the parties business.

    He knows that being famous in the presence of Dr. Berhanu. Birtukan and the other famous members of KINIJIT, is not easy. He and his groups are working hard to fabricate all the lies and Hailu Shawl is using the lies to isolate his feudal group from the other progressive leaders, so that Dr. Taye will be the leader. I want to remind you that Hailu Shawel has said on VOA that he will retire when the time approaches. It seems that Hailu shawel is doing every thing in his capacity to make Taye the leader. However, we Ethiopians will not allow this to happen.

  25. It was expected. Hailu’s hooligans had already threatened the CUD officials to receive mob justice. The hooligans were bragging while they were planning to attack the leaders in the name of public outrage. In addition, Hailu’s fans by constantly propagating mob justice they are inciting the public to take illegal action. AEUP diehards’ refusal to let CUDP leaders use the office saying “the office belongs to AEUP” shows their fake conversion from AEUP into CUD. What they missed is that the public have no right to take justice into their hands even if they were dismayed by the activities of Birtukan and her colleagues. Public’s rights do not stretch as far as physically attacking anyone. The public can express their anger peacefully and by denying their support.

  27. Unfortunately, I am not a politician and I don’t have deep knowledge about politics. But I have initiated myself to say something from what I observed from the current politics…
    I have a real grievance with Dr. Taye. And I am really
    ashamed of your not having a concern with your profession. I don’t think you are handling your profession professionally. As a Dr, political scientist, you were supposed to contribute substantive political value to your society. Because of your unprofessional practice, I have a doubt that 6-kilo born you as professional. Dr. would I ask you some questions: Have you tried stop by yourself and think what wrong doing things you are committing upon to the Ethiopian people? Are you thinking wider for the common good to the society? Is it expected from professionals like you to aggravate political problems instead of reconciling differences? Is it ethical? My little brain reminds me to compare the son’s of 6-kilo Professor Merara Gudena with Dr. Taye W/semayate.

    I heard you before last week while you were talking with Ethiopian review live radio if I am not mistaken about Kinjit.Though I don’t grasp any significant political analysis while you were talking politics in the name of kinjit, You have sworn to go back to Ethiopia to struggle for democracy. Of course it is probable that I don’t have doubt you might go back to Enat Hager. But are sure ,your are really going to struggle for “Freedom?”

  28. How can we fight both Woyane and anti-woyane groups at the same time, even if we don’t agree on tactics? Unless we stop fighting each other the winner will definitly be Woyane. Therefore, you the media people need to:
    1. Forget the group you don’t support and do your best on your line.
    2. Be neutral and stop political advocacy to the group you think is correct.
    3. Focus on diging up attrocities committed by Woyane, rather than character assasination of any group that stands against woyane at least in principle.
    4. Be the vanguards of deciminating progressive ideas and promotion of democracy.

    Then we unite the oppressed.

  30. Please listen to Dr Brehanu’s interview with Addis Dimts. He says that we should focus on the fight against EPRDF not on the interanl fight within CUDP.

    In my humble opinion, Hailu Shawul has voluntarily excluded himslef from the struggle. We should not waste valuable time on him.
