  1. Elias, u sound real confused/irational.Lucy found in ethiopia. Her age more than a million yrs , she is ,unique treasure, the property of human kind. so what is ur problem. When mr. samuel say our trade b/n ethiopia and usa is only 30 million that is more embarasing. Elias focus on reality and live in present, try to get rid of hate. Hate is cancer with out cure.

  2. TO ELIAS:
I have listned the whole video but nothing was said about Lucy.Elias do not lie like Meles otherwise you may lose Your crediblity.

    ——————

Start listening at the 13:00 minute mark.

  3. To Elias,
As if there are no more important things to talk about i.e. the “systematic famine” taking place in Ogaden? Or if you don’t want to go into such a huge topic, mentioning Daniel Bekele and Netsanet Demissie, who have been forgotten by almost everyone including you, and yet they are the ones that need to be praised and mentioned for their heroic action…for not signing a piece of paper admitting something that they didn’t do and standing up for what they believe in. But no, instead we have “…Samuel Assefa, said Lucy (Dinknesh) is not Ethiopian.” And like he said “is there anything distinctively Ethiopian about her?” And after all, he does say “but it’s a very significant fact that geographically it’s situated in Ethiopia, that Ethiopia is the origin of humanity…” Lucky is some 3 million years old, she was a primate, nations and nationalities came around maybe 4000 BC. So please let’s get over this nonsense and get to the real urgent issues, there are far more serious things to talk about.

  4. Sorry Elias!I got it now.
This is a very blinded view that disregards the honor of the ancient country”ETHIOPIA”.Lucy is the most remarkable part when we come to the history of Ethiopia in particular and the history of EAST AFRICA in general.Unlucky to have an ambassador denying the biggest asset of his country.I know now the reason why we lost a number of historical heritages.Where is Lucy now?still in Houston? For what?
These people will sell the ARK OF THE COVENANT soon from Lalibella.

  5. To TEKEZE

u did not listen full video.A lot is said about Lucy.He has said lucy is not Ethiopian. He may be right or wrong. We can not say Lucy is not Ethiopian or Ethiopian. Because we have no eveidence for that. One thing we know is that the skeleton is found in the present Ethiopia land.who knows at that age some other people might have been there. without evidence we can not blame the speaker. we can not convince anybody that Lucy is Ethiopian. Our saying should be justifiable,if not we will be like birds simply singing which devalue us

  6. Dear Elias:

I have carefully listened to the video and the ambassador has stated that Lucy is not an Ethiopian. This assertion is in fact congurent with their philoophy – a bit more than shame.

  7. Dear Elias,
Lucy and her comunity were lived before 3.8 Million years(Ma), and she represents all mankind not only Ethiopians. No any nationality represented by Lucy. The important thing is she was found in Ethiopia, so we can only say that Ethipia is the origin of mankind, but not all mankind is Ethiopian.

  8. Well, Samuel is no doubt a confused drunkard and not a seasoned politician. But out of curiosity only: did the apes that lived 3.5 million years ago have nationalities? What about those living today in the jungles of Africa? It appears that only this time might Samuel have said something right.

  9. It is in line with their(woyanes) long standing policy of devoiding Ethiopia of her long history and her contribution to humanity. I would rather be surprised if he came across otherwise. I am surprised that some readers found this trivial and not so important. Statements of this nature would trigger an outrage that would force such official to resign his position had this happened in a democratic society with vibrant free press.

  10. Woyanes are here for destruction, for demolishing and devestation of Ethiopia. The long 2000 history of Ethiopia was non existance for Woyanes. Meles himeself shamefully said it when they came. Therefore they are after distroying our history. Denkenesh is for sale right now. All this saying that she was not Ethiopian was a reason to make fortune.

  11. The problem is that these woyanne cadres including their chief meles naziawi have a problem promoting any thing good for Ethiopia. My people we have an enemy in our palace who hate ethiopian more than any body. This is a cancer that needs to be removed if not it is spreading and we will pay the price of the infection.
    God save mama Ethiopia.

  12. Let him do his job and fill his big belly. EPRDF is from the beginning means denouncing, beraying and discrediting what is good for ethiopian.so no wonder if samuel assefa is rejected Ethiopia is an origin of lucy. that implies they are on the way to sell for USA in the near future.

  13. Hi Elias:

I’m not sure how your hatred to the current Ethiopian govt and its ambassador gets mixed up with all sorts of things. The ambassador never belittled the significance of Lucy, whatever the Lucy story is; his only claim that you could not understand, because your mind is too clouded and confused with too much hatred for the current govt and its associates, is that there is nothing distinctively Ethiopian about Lucy. Can you tell us anything better because you’re not a pro-EPRDF? His comments have nothing against Lucy’s story. I’m as much against the current govt and his associates when it comes to political differences, but I do not think attributing all kinds of nonsense to your political opponents is the right thing to do.

I also feel ashamed when I see Dr. Samuel Assefa perform his job as an ambassador, since I know he could have done a much better job as a philosopher and/political scientist with a PhD and teaching at AAU or wherever. You ask his former students at AAU, I’m not one of them anyway,to see how great a teacher he was and how much of a kind and humble and caring person he’s been to many of his students. If Ethiopia has only ten university teachers like he WAS, Ethiopian history would make a tremendous change for better. He’s lost such an extraordinary opportunity of shaping and molding the precious minds of young generation of Ethiopians who’re being molded by who, who knows?

A related point: The political “greatness” and “success” of the current regime, whether we like it or not, is in winning and handling Andreas Eshete and Samual Assefa, the only Ivy League ( Yale and Princeton, respectively) educated PhDs in Philosophy, in Ethiopian history ( anyone can prove me wrong about this by showing me factual mistakes if I’m making with these points about these two guys being the only two Ivy League educated philosophers) and guess what they’re doing for the current regime. Good or bad, something or nothing, the current regime, has managed to pick these two guys or vice versa, and these guys are serving the govt while we all are calling them idiots, which they are not. Some of us who call them idiots do not even have 1/4 of their intellectual caliber, to be blunt. It’s not their being stupid that should concern us since they are not but what should bother us is how do such highly intelligent people end up doing what they do? The greatest mystery for me personally has been, why these two, otherwise brilliant guys, ended up serving a govt knowing fully well that the govt they’re serving is among the worst hated by the people of Ethiopia. I could never understand the reason why such guys perform such services, it’s like an intellectual prostitution, and I’m at a loss about the reasons behind. To make money? No, they’ve more than enough money? To be more famous? No, they’ve become the opposite, infamous? Perhaps they liked the latter? To get power over others? I don’t know how that would make sense even to say yes to. There are mysterious about these guys that bothered me for a long time. It’s not about their statements about Ethiopia or Lucy, whatever these two are, that bothers me for I’d not trust them much about what they stand for and defend, lies or truth, whu care?

Friend, Elias, please make no mistakes: I’m as much against the wrong things that the current govt in Ethiopia does as you’re but it’d be much better if our responses to the opponents are more reasonable, more sensible than theirs.

Just wanted to share these thoughts.

  14. I could be surprised if the ambassador/ woyane says Lucy is from Ethiopia. woyane has never said good (postive) things about Ethiopia. I will never expect positive thinking from the evil.

  15. I think the dingbat’s logic is, since Lucy lived and died before the existence of a country called Ethiopia, therefore she is not Ethiopian. The problem with that is, since the land now we call Ethiopia existed before the existence of an entity called Ethiopia, therefore Ethiopia is not really ….? Or perhaps the good ambassador is teaching us the TPLF version of our history that, since Lucy is over one hundred years old and therefore NOT Ethiopian.

  16. TO SAYYO:
You are saying the present Ethiopian land was supposed to be for unknown nation. Are You kidding buddy?Don’t surrender Yourself to Evil. You will sell Your country if You are asked.Shame to have such an individual who has lost his/her identity.
SAYYO,Do You expect an Ethiopian stamp over Lucy?Or Do You need a black skeleton? Please respect Your heritage if You are an Ethiopian.Do You think An American or A European has lived in the Afar region,Hadar?
You will lose many heritages if You do have such idiology.

  17. If the ambassador say that, he might be right. I was thinking that LUCY may be migrated from somewhere on earth to Ethiopia and died in Ethiopia. let’s see left and right

  18. What more do we expect from a jungle breed. All woyane members are subhumans with big mouth and no ears.He was told by his Idol Tyrant (Meles)that Ethiopia is a nation with only a few hundred years old. So it is not a surprise from him (and has no right) not to concider Lucy (3.5 million old) as Ethiopian.

  19. 1-What a shame!?.. my beloved country Ethiopia, the standard of liberty for the whole black people, to fall in the hands of these vagabonds, who totally denied their identity. These mercenaries are in a mission of serving some kind of mysterious master who paid them to trash our honorable history and heritage.

2- Ethiopia is known through the time immemorial with different names but our country its land and all the content in its womb including LUCY and US for that matter, belong to the current Ethiopia and its people.

3- Mind you brothers/Sisters which country’s leader in the whole world in any given time, no matter what they are Dictators, Emperors or else who purposefully distort, trash, sell the country they govern, it’s happening in Ethiopia today under our watch with the Wayane rulers.

4- The so called Ambassador seating with his puppets journalist reciting what he’s told to bring back the Lucy’s sham full affair and dealings that was condemned by the world intellectual society and Ethiopians, on purpose to ridicule and mainly to switch the attention out of the current heightened political situation in the country.

5- Ethiopians all walk of life, our forefathers would never, never accept this, their blood still running in our veins, they said to all who dared to put us down NO, not in Ethiopia chanting liberty or death, fought with their own ammunition and ration.
Thanks for them we were proud, courteous and courageous people. Today we’re watching for the last + seventeen years these been taken from us slowly and systematically.
Don’t forget for a moment our sisters daughters are enslaving themselves in the oil reach Arab countries and live in very inhumane condition, nobody raise a finger on their behave when a young Ethiopian women abused and jailed, its like no country or a Government of their own.

  20. what do you expect from crack head? by the way the whole world knows that lucy is originaly from Ethiopia. it is also written in the world historical book, that will never change.

  21. Annon, you made a good point on the issue raised by the web-master: mixing one’s political views with facts on the ground. But, I am rather more interested on the “related point” you mention in your contribution — you ask how an otherwise “brilliant” guy, in the likes of Samuel and Endreas, ended up serving a government “hated by the people of Ethiopia”. The tools for solving your mystery have actually been discovered long ago, by an able and great philosopher, called Ayn Rand, of course not an “Ivy League” graduate herself. She says, by nature, contradictions do not exist, and if you think you “find” one, you must first check your premise, and you will find out that one of your premise was actually wrong. I hope this will help.

  22. I am very ashmed by what the so-called Ambassador said. This is not the first time. I have never heared of them calling themselves as Ethiopian. So what is so surprizing about Lucy!!!!

  23. Asgdom:

Thanks for your post and trying to shed some light on the mystery that I talked about the way S. Assefa and A. Eshete go about their lives, serving a govt that, by all means, one would/should want to avoid serving, given more than average intelligence and being highly educated the way these guys are.

But I’m not sure how Rand’s talk about contradictions would be relevant here. I did not talk about contradictions about these people. Whether contradictions exist or do not exist “by nature” (I do not know which nature you’ve in mind here) the problem that these guys pose is not logical. It’s possible that they mean to live their lives in accordance with their values and hence consistently. But that poses a deep problem for someone who questions whether maintaining such “consistency” in life is an acceptable and good thing to do.

My worry about them is moral not logical, it’s not about a relationship between some premises and a conclusion. It’s rather about a way of life that seems to be deeply puzzling and deeply unsatisfying , at least, for me.

  24. If the acquired knowledge is not used properly, it would become dangerous. Being graduated from Yale or Princinton doesn’t mean anything,if the knowledge obtained is used to serve those woyanne crime family’s purpose.

You see, woyanee crime family members don’t directly approach individuals to recruit them;rather, the high level crime family sends well trained agents to approach the individual or individuals that woyanne thinks, believes or is convinced that the individual can be used to his or her maximum potential then later be thrown away when the individual’s shelf life expires.First and formost, woyanne agents spend time by studying the behavour, habit, need, desire, strength and weakness of the subject in question.

The subject’s weakness is the most important thing for woyanne to lure him or her so that the reward will be followed after that.

Mostly, by woyanne crime family’s recruitment criterion, the subject is recruited based on his/her weak points, weak thraits, weak attributes, then it is on the subject’s weakness merit that the post is given. The woyanne Ambasador has been recruited chiefly because Meles Zinawi needs him to make HR-2003 fail. So the main job of the ambasador is to work hard and use his Ivy-League connection to influence white house members in favour of making an HR-2003 defeat. Whether the mission is accomplished or not, in time, the woyanne Ambasador shall be removed from woyanne’s shelf.

  25. What is he talking about
Did Lucy flew from USA/China in 3,997993 BC??? or is she a cross continnent runner??.

The fact is she grew up and died in the same location ethiopia, probably in the same Kefle Hager.

  26. I have very little respect for the leaders/leadership of the Woyanne government, but what the Ambassador is saying are correct to a certain extent. I don’t agree with the actual facts surrounding Lucy but using her exhibit to attract foreigners to Ethiopia as a tourist attraction is intelligent. The focus/direction they would like this to continue is very impressive.

  27. Annon,

Thanks for your reasoned thought. I still think Rand`s philospophy is vaild in explaining the “contradiction” that you see in these two individuals. Basically, your argument rests on two basic premises: that the two individuals are “brilliant” and brilliant people are supposed to serve a clean government. First, there is no reason to believe (or evidence that shows) that all “brilliant” people put their great mind to good use. So, one should not be surprised if s/he sees such people on the wrong side of the ring. Second, it also depends on how you define “intelligence”: is it something measured by the school that one went to or how well one uses his/er brain in a given context or the philosophy that one practices and lives by. For instance, Ayn Rand, the philosopher I mentioned earlier never attended an American university, let alone those “prestigious” universities you mentioned about, but this did not stop her becoming one of the greatest philosophers of all time. So, the point I am trying to show is that your first premise may in fact be wrong, when tested from different angles. Of course, we could also apply a similar logic to test the validity of you second premise, but I will leave that to you. But, to me I don’t see any contradiction, but a complete and logical consistency in their being, in their sense of life, and in what see in their day to do actions.

  28. Hi Asgedom:

It’s good to see your clarifications etc. I’ve some problems with the way you take what I thought waw clear, about what I was trying to communicate.

Now, you say that there are two basic premises that get me into trouble with these two guys and what bothers, at least me, in this context. I do not think that I’m committed to what you attribute to me about your alleged understanding that I hold those premises. No.

You say that I’m committed to “that the two individuals are “brilliant” and brilliant people are supposed to serve a clean government.” That is posing a false dilemma for me while there is a third or more options to the issue we’re discussing. I did not say that (I’m answering your ideas about the alleged second premise in conjunction with your first that you attributed to me too)”all” brilliant people “are supposed to serve a clean government. No, brilliant people can avoid serving any govt, if they see any govt’s principles are in opposition to their lives’ guiding principles if they have some, or they can commit suicide or they can just teach or they can simply dance, or have fun. Serving a clean govt is not the only option that I envisaged for brilliant people, whoever they are. It’s too obvious to deserve a comment about whether I think “all” brilliant people should do all and only good things or use their intelligence, however defined, for all and only good things. [The universal quantifier “all” needs a more cautious usage, my friend.] But again that does not mean that when we see reasonably well educated people use their background for whatever purposes as less puzzling since there are ways to think about how we use our native intelligence or educational background for the good of ourselves and for that of our fellow humans beings.

Finally, I do not know why you even bring up Rand here. That sounds like an appeal to authority ( in a bad sense, which is equivalent to committng a fallacy which I hope that you’re familiar with) when there is no need in the context of this exchange. We do not need Rand or any other authority to tell us what a contradiction is unless we’re talking about some unusual technical sense of a contradiction about which I do not think Rand has contributed anything in her novels, since most of her philosophical works are contained in her philosophical novels. Rand would be the last person to turn to to see whether there are contradictions in the way human beings live their lives . It’s not that I’m unfamiliar with Rand and her work, which I do not know how to take seriously anyways, but what we’re talking about the two guys whose lives show some puzzles for some people, including this writer, and Rand is irrelevant to tell us what we’re talking about now as far as I can tell.

    Cheers,
