STATEMENT
Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF)
The Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) led regime currently in power in Ethiopia has been well aware of the Ogaden National Liberation Front(ONLF) policy on resolving the Ogaden conflict through peacefull dialogue. We have maintained that any such dialogue should be held in a neutral third country, in the presence of a neutral third party arbiter of international standing with no preconditions placed on either side.
In that context, recent attempts by the TPLF to utilize the person of Prof. Ephrem Isaac to seek to negotiate on matters that can only be addressed by the TPLF Regime itself demonstrate the lack of commitment of this regime to engage in serious diologue in order to reach a comprehensive and just political settlement on the Ogaden conflict.
The ONLF would like to make clear to the TPLF regime that we will not meet with or negotiate with Prof. Ephrem Isaac as he is not a government official and has no recognized authority nor the ability to affect circumstances on the ground in Ogaden.
The TPLF regime continues to execute a campaign of terror against our people and has shown no sign of seeking a peaceful solution to the Ogaden conflict.
Despite this, our door remains open to enter into discussions with the TPLF regime in the context of our long standing policy for dialogue.

The liberators should work with the rest of Ethiopians. There is always killings when they try to liberate a state or a small country.Stand with the rest of Ethiopians to defeat our common enemies and stop to torn that country into pieces.Learn from Europe and USA and compare Africa.
This is a very unfortunate news. It is sad and very disapointing the ONLF is not giving priority to the safety, well being and peaceful stability of the region.
Because of the civil war in Ogaden civilians are the one who are suffering. The humanitarian situation in Ogaden is very alarming and catastrophic. The ONLF and both the EPRDF are equally responsible for the abyss in that region. The ONLF hiding behing the people attacks EPRDF security forces. In return the EPRDF come after all youngs that they thing may be ONLF fighters.
Many have fled their towns and villages. Many have died. If the ONLF attacks, it does not guarantee the safety of the people. They attack and leave exposing the people for further retaliation from the regime. Their activities have done nothing positive other than adding more misery to the people.
The solution is only dialog and solving the difference peacefully. The ONLF above anyone should have given top priority to the safety of innocent civilians. They should have used any opportunity there is to start a dialog.
Talking is not weakness. If prof Ephraim Issac offered to help, what is wrong with exploring that option ? it would have been better to have a strong, independent mediators (like the UN, EU, Carter Center …). However we do not have that. We go what we have. We may want to have 100. However 5 is better than 0 ? Currently we have nothing. Currently we have war, destruction and killings in that region.
If Prof Ephraim offers 5 would it not be wise to accept it? Why would we say unless it is 100 we do no accept ? Why would we put conditions for peace ?
An organization that cares for the safety of the people and would like to save the life of innocents would cease any moment that may have even a smallest chance to bringing peace.
It is a mistake the ONLF close this door.It is a very serious blow to the ONLF. The ONLF has send a signal that it may not really want peace.
One need to remember , even with all its problems, the shemguelena lead by prof Issac has delivered something. As the former KIL chairman Dr Mogues Gebremariam public said in a Washington DC Kinijit town hall meeting, the role of prof Ephraim and other shemageles were very crucial.Dr Mogues evne public thank Prof Ephraim and his colleagues for helping secure the release of the CUD leaders and more than 17000 other political prisoners.
Currently the CUD leaders are talking to them so that more progress would be made in Ethiopia. It would have much better for the ONLF to join the CUD and be ready for peace.
I hope they will reconsider and open to any initiative that may bring peace in that region. All pressures must be done on the ONLF in their regards. THEY MUST RECOGNIZE THAT THAT ONLY DIALOG CAN BRING THE SOLUTION IN EASTERN ETHIOPIA.

I read your comment i am sure you dont mean no harm but you should blame the entire political crisis on TPLF thugs not on ONLF. Do you really expect Pro Ephrem to stand for truth or you are in denial borther? Think again
Muziky68, the duplicity and underhandedness of Meles is very well known.Trust me,he does not want a genuine peace in Ogaden. If he was interested in peace, he would have stopped the mass killing and starvation by his TPLF troops and talked to the ONLF directly. This is nothing more than cynical ploy and red herring. The ONLF are not fooled by it.
Now the ONLF tone has surely changed from ‘killing 300 WOYANE troops’ to ‘peace’ after getting smashed by our gallant AGAZI and HAYEGNA brigades that ended in the killing of hundreds of terrorists including its top leaders and the shabia that love to hide under the skirts of the Somali women.
Hayegna (20th),
It’s your TPLF who is talking to elder Isaac Ephraim after they were soundly defeated in Labiga, Galalshe, Wardher, Jarar, Garbo and Fiq. Your Woyanne troops can only kill Women, Children and defendless civilians in Mogdishu, Addis Ababa and in Ogaden. The ONLF have exposed how weak and cowardly your Agazi are when they face real men and real fighters. Your brovado and claim of victory is not supported by the reality on the ground in Ogaden. The Shabia are your next door so if you are brave enough deal with them.
