ER “2009 Person of the Year” to be announced

The much anticipated Ethiopian Review’s annual “Person of the Year” will be announced shortly. Clear choices are emerging. The short list will be posted tomorrow.

Ethiopian Review is still accepting nominations for the “2009 Person of the Year.” Please post your nominations and suggestions in the comment box below.

The person who will be chosen as “Person of the Year” is believed to have contributed the most to the betterment of Ethiopia during the past 12 months.

Last year’s choice [click here to read] was President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea. Ethiopian Review — by far the most popular and widely read Ethiopian journal according to Alexa.com — found that President Isaias has done more than any one to advance the interest of Ethiopia in 2008 by providing assistance to Ethiopian freedom fighters, as well as opening the door for any Ethiopian who is trying to escape the brutal repression in Ethiopia while Kenya, Yemen, Djibouti and others closed theirs.

The final decision will be made on December 31 by Ethiopian Review publisher in consultation with the journal’s Board of Trustees, Advisers, and readers.

Thanks again Elias, now every body know this great man,indipendent mind,real freedom fighter.No third world leader especially from black nations are resisting to the wester power(evil) like him.We all ethiopian,Eritreans,Sudanies,generally entier east african people we need to come toghether in support of this great revolutionary man.

    The best person of 2009 is Elias Kilfle.
    Elias is the most militant web site owner I am witnessing educating the people of Ethiopia of accountability, responsibility.
    He exposes people who push hidden agendas by the name of anti woyane is the most I admire from him. What he has done so far are truthful for any one to see. Like the DC qidist Mariam church members Dr. Aklilu and the Mennosota anti legitimate Holy Synod Dr. Getachew Haile. It needed courage to do this no one has said it before even after.
    Elias went to Eritrea 2 times against
    the worn out sing “shabia is the same as woyane” rythm. Indeed again needs courage and vision to show the timely question. What can we do today? How is our capabilities to get our freedom? etc.
    I could have write many more reasons but for now I stop here.
    PS. In no way I do not mean I agree with Elias on every issue he is taking. Why I chose him is because of he is aggresive , courageous on the major problems our society needs to tackle.

  20. Person of the year should be Tedy Afro for what he has done before, while and after his imprisonment.
    I am quite ashamed of you guys though. Why? I just knew that President Isayas Afewerki was elected as person of the year last year. That is so awkward and irritating.

  23. I have to say either Elias Kifle or President Iaias Afewerki. Elias has been in the forefront telling nothing but the hard truth and mending the Wayane’s construed hatred between two brotherly peole of Eritrea and Ethiopia. In doing so, th two people now becoming much wiser and knowledgable how the best way to get rid of the good fo nothing and mother of all evil so Called Tigrain Wayane. Equally, we have been witnessing against all odds the unflinching helping hand of Eritrean government led by the principled Pre. Isaias Afewerki in liberating our people from the evile so called Tigrains Wayane can never ever be forgatten!!! As such, I have to say either Elias Kifle or President of Isaias Afewerki has to be ER’s man of the year 2009!

    anyone who is aware about the environement should be rewarded.
    Melese Zenawi and his gangs are the wrots ever, since they are destrying our natural resource, especailly our trees.
    Ethiopia will be a desert in 10 years, and at that time ethiopians do not need somone to kill them they will die in hunger, starvation, if they do not do somthing about the trees.

  32. I would recomend to have Prime Mr. Meles as person of the year. He brought the nation to the next level and he manage to handle all this non-common sense politics. I wish though he wouldn’t be running for the office for this election. I was really amazed what I saw in him on his discussion with Ben. He’s really a man of HONOR.

  36. Person of the year 2009 should be Birtukan Mideksa. The analysis of the above comments also reveal that. However, since Elias Kifle doesn’t like her he will not reveal the actual result. In any case, Birtukan is A PERSON OF THE CENTURY for genuine Ethiopians. Elias can select anyone for himself, and post it hear.
