Ethiopia is a police state, where journalists are branded as “terrorists” and jailed – over 200 so far. It has only ONE national radio station, ONE national television station, ONE national daily for 83m people, ONE internet server. Private broadcasts are JAMMED.
PM Meles Zenawi turned out to be worse than the brutal dictator, Col Mengistu he ousted back in 1991. Zenawi practices ethnic (Tigrayan) apartheid. #Ethiopia
He rigged the 2005 elections. When people protested, security forces killed over 500, injured 800+ and arrested over 40,000.
Same thing happened in 2010 elections, where Zenawi’s party won 96.4% of the vote. The opposition won just one seat in the 547-seat parliament.
And Ethiopia is the country where the African Union keeps its headquarters in Addis Ababa, from where it preaches democracy and freedom of expression to the rest of Africa? A country that violates every tenet of the AU’s Charter on Human and Peoples Rights?
Article 9 of the AU’s own Charter guarantees FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. Protests are a form of freedom of expression. http://bit.ly/Jhedhv What’s the point of having an organization that CANNOT enforce its own rules or charter?
A den of kleptocrats and dictators, the AU can’t even define “democracy.” There is no election in Africa that it doesn’t like; all are “free and fair.”
Name one crisis the AU has been able to resolve without appealing for international aid. Congo? Libya? Somalia? Sudan? Zimbabwe?
In Sudan, when AU troops came under sustained rebel assault in Haskanita near Darfur, in Oct 2007, they FLED – like the Malian soldiers.
Ethiopians should end this tomfoolery and buffoonery. OCCUPY the new AU Headquarters built by China and SHUT IT DOWN – until ALL journalists and political prisoners are released before the next AU Summit in June.
The expulsion of the AU from Ethiopia would be the GREATEST SERVICE Ethiopians can do for Africa – comparable to the great achievements of Nkrumah and Mandela.
The expulsion will shake the very foundations of kleptocracy and dictatorship across Africa and spark the SECOND LIBERATION of Africa.

As a university student, or when im at seminars and conferences, or when I pick up a newspaper, and there is an African comenting its almost always some ridiculous retarded stuff that comes out. It is often so retarded that I see the whites and asians around me reacting with pitty, and I can just imagine them thinking “another monkey ass African”.

1) Mele is worse than Menge. Ethiopia today is worse than the Ethiopia 30 years ago, when literary every part of the country had picked up arms in rebelion, where young people in their 10 000’s were murdered under the red terror, where 100 000’s DIED of startvation.
2) Ethiopians which live under tyranny, should occupy AU headquarters?
I thought they were under tyranny? And if they were to rebel, should occupation of the AU buildings be their main priority? And which problems will that exactly solve?
3) AU is the worst problem Africa has? Really? Is that how democracy will come to Africa, by closing down the AU?
I think maybe we are genetically prdisposed to not comprehend reason, critical thinking and logic. I was also suprised by peoples behavior during the world economic forum in Addis, where the audience was making noises like they were in a bloody rap concert. No wonder the world does not take us seriously.
Also this clown Geroge, suffers from a big man syndrome (like the rest of us). He just wants attention, just wants to stand on stage and talk to large crowds, just wants to be heard, and focuses less on the substance and logic of what he is saying.

Think, think again, your emotion has to be separated from your comments, feedbacks, and suggestions. Ethiopian review suggests many childish ideas with no goal to achieve or without looking the implications of its suggestions. This comes from uneducated ones with pens, pecils, and papers or I might say easy access of means of communications. I advice all those with easy access of those means of communications, if you do not use them properly, sonner or later they will bite you back.

You know that Nikruman was so young and so Junior compared to His Majesty Emperor Haile Sellasie to fight ‘colonialism’ and ‘white racism’. Our new Pan-African agenda needs to focus how to liberate the new generation from China, India, and IMF and World Bank grip. Very well said. I am shocked that from reading this article, Dr. Ayitty has disrespect for Haileselassie. I used to think highly of Dr. Ayitti. Apparently he is campaigning to remove AU and bring it to Ghana. That is the agenda here. So apprently every foreigner as in the Ayitty taking advantage of the destruction of Ethiopia by TPLF facilitated by outsiders. This is very sad fact. We need to get our respect, dignity back. The diaspora must decide what they want, pereptuate neocolonialism or develop Ethiopia by bringing equal rights and developemnt to everybody (notice i didn’t say “democracy”). Thank you! This article has no foundation and the writer, while he may have had good intention, has completely lost the idea for which OAU was established. He wrote “The expulsion of the AU from Ethiopia would be the GREATEST SERVICE Ethiopians can do for Africa – comparable to the great achievements of Nkrumah and Mandela.” The amazing part is that the article doesnt mention the contribution of Hailesellassie, a man who paid dearly for his efforts to eradicate colonialism from Africa and establishment of African unity. Thanks but no thanks, too much is invested and we can struggle to topple Melese but AU is hailesellassie’s legacy. I wish it was never established in Addis and it had no connection to hailesellassie but unfortunately his life and Ethiopia’s future was sacrificed for it. We must fight to expose bad deeds with in the organization but we have no business kicking it out. No wo der haileselassie was not celebrated like Nukurma. It will continue to amaze me that the great African figure hailesellasie was passed for a small monument dedication to remind africans of the great struggle he galvanized.

Almost all African leaders are dictators. Ethiopia is a perfect place for them. Ghana and S Africa are the only democratic countries in Africa. By nature , blacks are dummies, less human than White. That is why they are not smart. Blacks were under colony for centuries , and now they are under dectatorship by their own people. That makes them stupied. Ethiopia can represent them perfectly. Because, Ethiopia is a place where dectatorship is started, crowed and growed. Ethiopia is a model for atrocity and violation of human right. So , keep AU in Addis. Brovo Ethiopia you made it. I think it may be from other Ghanaian, or even TPLF trying to bring rift between Ethiopians and Dr. Ayitty. I am hoping he would campaign for Ethiopia not against. HMMMM. This campaigning of course is going on in Africa because its resources is vast so African population must be down graded and undermined by any means necessary. Ethiopia, however was different under our emperors and even I can say under Mengistu. TPLF and Meles were programmed and chosen for many years before they took power along with Isayas, to control Ethiopia in order to stage the colonialism it hadn’t experienced in the past. That is why the neoliberalism and neocolonialism is strting from Ethiopia and will spread throughout Africa soon. So I refuse to thinkg. As Ethiopians are more humiliated, they will now start to think exactly as the other African nations that have been colonized that is , accepting being under mined, accepting being humiliated, so on. That is why African nations were never able to advance even post colonialism. The brainwashed Ethiopian elitists who went to college but learned neoliberalism support the humiliation of Ethiopians for mere development that doesn’t do anything for the population but development the land that benefits foreigners. Let’s see your facts
FACT 1:Not all journalists are labeled as terrorists.There are lots of them who are currently working and criticizing the government with the same intensity as those who are in jail.The difference is they are abide by the constitution.
FACT 2: IN 2010 government won 96.4%of the seat not the vote.And this was the result of the rejection by the opposition to join the parliament in 2005 after wining 30% of seats.Had they join the parliament in 2005 the result for 2010 election would be different.
Fact3:OAU charter never say that you can violate the constitution of a country and cover your self with human right.
Fact4:freedom of expression doesn’t mean the right to mobilize or agitate people to topple the constitution by force.
So my friend I am not saying all what has been done by the government is right.I have a lot of reservation on the position of the ruling government.But in 2005 they open the door a little bit to work with oppositions.The oppositions in return want all and as a result a horrible incident happened as you and me know.

Let us tell the truth. Haileselassie is too big name for TPLF and Shaebia, and it scared them to death and still does that is why they are uncarving Ethiopia piece by piece. I never thought Haileseassie;s greatness scared other Africans, from left to right. Why are African intimidated by Haileseassie? Is it because he has good skills in playing diplomacy even thoguht what ever they suspect him, in order to protect and save Ethiopia? Does anyone know that in order to oust Haileselassie and Mengistu (even though Mengistu is more evil than HIM)the famine was well coordinated? Let us make one thing clear, any leader that works or tried to bring peace and development to his country is not liked by superpowers. It requires a huge talent and dedication for our emperors to do the diplomacy and if necessary war as it happened in the past.

UNderstand this, the Liberation Fronts must have chosen the colonization of Ethiopia under Italy because of their opposition to Haileselassie. No one is perfect of course and he wasn’t perfect as well. If it wasn’t for him speaking infront of League of Nations shaming the world powers, Ethiopia would have been colonized by Italy long ago. (I am sure The liberation fronts are cheering right now along with Eritrea of course). So take your pick. I am sure, perhaps, for TPLF today might be good and not under Haileselassie, so it seems. But they are living in fear and subordinates of foreigners. Basically in order to survive, they have become slaves of outside. I doubt they want to live like this. If it was the era of Mengistu that TPLF was in power instead of Mengistu, they would have committed mass genocide visibly on all ethnic groups and relgions as they are doing today slowly. The times have changed. Wars are today fought with slow death by preaching democracy. The war is economically, with racist idelogy, with putting one against the other, secretly doing the killing, sending others the killing, etc. Wars before were fought by conquering, or visibly killing like Mengistu. Today, it is a slow process, it is not politically viable to do that. So even though the style has changed, the degree of war will not changed and will be measured at the end of tPLF regime. Even though I don’t agree with most of Dr. Ayittys’ article. If indeed it is him, I do agree on the Occupy as well. That is why Ethiopians are systematically starved, dehumanized so that they cannot act against the TPLF regime unlike Arab springs, despite their dictatorships, they are strong and well enough to go out protest. 2005 TPLF decided to decimate Ethiopians because there are groups advising Meles as well as his own that if TPLF is gone, they will all perish so they have to rule by any means. That is why day and night they have think tanks and foreigners coming in and out as if Ethiopia is bar or club trying to uncarve Ethiopia or construct Ethiopia that is beneficial only to TPLF and its supporters and outside.
Woyane is not only the enemy of Ethiopia but also the enemy of the whole Africa. If Meles Zenawi’s ethnic based policy spread to the rest of Africa, it will definitely destroy Africa. So the AU should stop supporting Meles’s regime, otherwise it will be a very very dangerouse game!

How can Addis Abebaians occupy AU? Their houses are demonished by Meles buldozers and they left the capital city. Debrezeit anothr city near the capital city will be totally demolished next year and its citizens are allready informed that the city will be given to AU employers. A good amount of concious Ethiopians are in preason or out of the country. So who can do the job to ocupy AU building? Those left in the town are from Meles tribe and they are protecting the occupier. No hope.

Your analysis is very good. This will be one campaign against TPLF/Meles even though I doubt Africans will do anything. We can campaign to Africans that Ethiopia is being guinnea pig for ethnic genocidal war that will soon spread in Africa that is why African’s need to support pro Ethiopia regime rather than TPLF/Meles regime. TPLF’s agenda of ethnic rule has nothing to do with supporting the rights of ethnic groups. If it were, how do we explain the exploitation of cofees, other agricultural lands by Tigrayan groups in different regions of “ethnic kilil”. No, it is to benefit few people as well as to create rift among the peaceful ethnic groups so that while they fight TPLF can just sit and laugh and keep on exploiting that is why. If this doesn’t wake up the narrow such as OLF (another TPLF-to be)who “seem” to direct innocent Oromos to wrong direction, nothing will. OLF could give TPLF its poison if it wants to, and that is unite with Ethiopians and especially Amaras. Unfortunately it is evident that OLf is controlled by foreigners for another game.

The vision of Haile Selassie and others have been into a brothel where the selling of the Ethiopian women started at the AAU now AU and the ECA. I think our judgment lies on how much we know about the AU.
there are some questions we need to ask.
Is the AU a symbol of freedom, and democracy because it is sitting in Ethiopia, or is it Ethiopia the symbol of freedom and democracy?
did the AU benefit any of the African countries to teach and show to be self reliant instead of begging from foreign countries/?
Did and is it still helping Ethiopia and the people of Ethiopia to get out of famine?
Did it say anything when our votes were rigged and innocent people killed right in front of its eyes?
Whether it is occupied or not it is a useless organization. During the Arab Israeli war even Ethiopia was forced to support cutting relationship with Israel in support of the Arab countries who were defeated while trying to destroy Israel.

I am not sure if we can call Ethiopia a police state at this point, though there are few such indications. However, I totally agree with number of points dealt in the thread. It is sad that the uninterrupted incarceration of political opposition members, journalists and others is still part of our political system over 40 years of our (Ethiopian) revolution which brought down an old feudal and brutal system which had enslaved Ethiopians for over a thousand of years. It is also sad to see that Ethiopia’s national Television and Radio are both are instruments serving the status quo, except for the time of election.
Censorship of magazines, daily newspapers and other publications has been also part of this new system which the government calls a democratization of Ethiopia. As if that is not bad enough, we witness the jamming of radio programs both home grown and broadcasted from outside of the country. This, by no means, is a democratization process, rather democracy by name and totalitarian by deed.
However, I don’t agree with the writer of the article’s analysis of Meles Zenawi being worse than the head of Ethiopia’s former military junta, Mengistu Hailemariam. I am an Ethiopian and a living witness of that ugly time in our history. There is not any comparison in Ethiopia or any other part of Africa to Mengistu’s evil regime. If any I would say we may find his equal in Asia, Khmer Rouge of Canbodia led by Pol Pot. For the writer, who appears to be an outsider (from his name), to tell an Ethiopian that PM Meles is worse than Colonel Mengistu, is just a mockery. This to me appears to be the writer is just telling a tale-tale story.
The writer continues, irresponsibly, by telling us in reference to the Tigryan apartheid of Ethiopia. There is no such thing called Tigrayan apartheid in Ethiopia. Does the writer understand what apartheid means? If we have to accept such myth, we should investigate what apartheid is and compare it to what is taking place in Ethiopia. Yes, it is true that most of higher ranking officials of the current regime are that of Tigray origin. But that doesn’t make the government apartheid. If that is what apartheid is supposed to be, then we will conclude that Haile Selassie was an Amhara apartheid for most, if not all, of his government’s higher positions were occupied by Amhara ethnic members, especially that of ‘Menze’ background. I was in Ethiopia few years ago and witnessed that there were many beggars of Tigrrayan origin. One didn’t see an Afrikaner beggar on the street of Johannesburg or Cape Town during the apartheid of South Africa. Afrikaner language was used as the country’s official language as the culture was also enforced onto those who don’t belong to it. That is not the case in today’s Ethiopia. Amharic language continues to be the country’s official language and Ethiopia’s popular culture’s which was influenced by that of the Amhara ethnic cluture during and after the king continue to be as such in today’s Ethiopia. This was not a reality about apartheid. I could go on and provide you more instances to demonstrate how the writer was terribly wrong by using the term apartheid. However, I will leave that to the readers to do his/her research to form one’s thoughts. However, this is not an attempt to let the government get away with its own shortcomings. Nepotism, rather than tribalism is rampant in Meles’ government.
The government’s failure or change of heart, when it comes to the real democratization, which began just before the election of 2005 and died even before the election was over, speaks lauder about what type of regime is in power in today’s Ethiopia. While, I acknowledge the fact that the government has scored success when it comes to the economy, it continues to go one step forward and two step backward when it comes to the democratization process. Elections rigging, intimidating potential voters of the opposition, economic favoritism in order to attract more voters to the government’s side, wide spread imprisonment of opposition with the pretext of terrorism is part of this two step backward democratization that the government preoccupied itself with. The recent election which is said to result in the government attaining 95% of all votes is an obvious indication that something is terribly wrong in Ethiopia. Such high outcomes were witnessed only in Hitlor’s Germany. No country, especially such as Ethiopia which is a mosaic of people and diverse political views, could produce such result. This means one of the two things. The election was badly rigged or people got fed up with the system and stayed home. Hence those who got economic favor came out to vote for the government. The obsession of the government with terrorism is another indication that it (the government) is neither interested, nor willing to work on the problem, political that is, at home. It will be only the matter of time before what is left unattended explodes. We are already seeing such phenomenon which can be an indication of the explosion. The recent demonstration of Ethiopian Muslims is one example – the beginning.
Whatever is said or to be said about Ethiopia may not be the main issue that the writer wants to talk about. He stresses that AU has to be purged out of Ethiopia. Well, that is a good dream; and a bad one at the same time. While I agree with the writer’s observation of who are the members of AU, I doubt if the expulsion of the organization out of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia will benefit anyone. If anything it may harm the local economy. After all if it (AU) is to move out of Ethiopia it will find another place in another one of the African countries, probably another nation that has been throwing its journalists and politicians into prison. Is there any African country that has not been exposed to such practice, of course the degree may be less than that of Ethiopia? Hence, I wonder what type of motive, in any, the writer has or what is he trying to achieve through his thread.

Nice campaign for Weyane, the only way to compare itself and hide its crimes with what is going on today is by crying fowl of the past feudal system. That is the only thing you have to campaign for, the evidence speak for itself. You are attracting OLF members aslo by talking about feudal era. Pleas answer the following questions. Because feudal era was bad for other ethnic groups you created kilil, so what is the likes of you doing in Keffa stealing coffee. Can you get hypocrite than this? It is also you proof that you have been haunted by the past “feudal” era that you have nothing to show. Look up what the fact has been what I wrote above if the feudal era was as bad as today, the fact speaks for itself. You have nothign to show today unless you are speaking as for the likes of you. Interesting observation. Well, if what I am doing is considered to be a campaign for Weyane, I must then say that Weyane is a self destructive force. However, I don’t agree with that notion as I know exactly whom I am dealing with. I do speak what I believe is the right thing for my country and its people. I am not here to satisfy Weyane or those who oppose it. Fortunately or unfortunately, depends on how and who looks at it, I have been accused of being an agent of this or that by both opposing sides. It is not unexpected. I know my people, because I am one of you. You take your political views the way a monk takes his religion. Political views should not be taken as such.
Politics is a progression of human social activity. It develops, progresses, changes based on objective realties. I also know that my people, on both side of the spectrum, are for most part, wasting their time on something that is neither their profession nor a natural gift. Politics need to be studied. It needs to be researched and used as weapon of negotiation, among other things. As such one may server himself, his family and eventually one’s country.
Unfortunately, what I have been witnessing is that it (politics) has been used just to spread hate. Well that could be one of the purposes of politics, but not the only one. Yes, I refer to our past, in many occasions, and provided examples just to emphasis my point. But it was never about using it as a measuring point as to where we stand today. As a matter of fact I had clearly mentioned this early. You may refer to my previous thread on “Expelling AU out of Ethiopia by some George.
I am not sure what you meant by attracting OLF members. Feudalism is not about any particular ethnic group. In the case of Ethiopia, the Amhara ethnic group suffered as much as anyone else under feudalism. There were Oromo feudal, Tigrean feudal and so on. I guess it is not what I said, it is your perception of feudalism that you need to really rethink about.
My friend Peace (what a pen name!), I cannot answer your question about some coffee stolen out of Keffa. You need to ask those who did it, that is if there is such crime committed. But if you want me to talk about Kilil, I am glad to elaborate on that. Kilil is a replacement of what we used to know as province, except this one is based on ethnicity. I am aware of the fact that many Ethiopians, especially those of you in Diaspora strongly oppose it, I don’t. I am for it. I also support Ethiopia’s current Constitution pertaining Article 39 which gives the right to these kilils to self administer themselves and if they wish to secede from the rest of the country. This is seen as though it is something introduced by TPLF’s regime to divide Ethiopia. No, it is not. It is part of Ethiopian student movement’s main agenda and demand for which many died. This, at least in principle, was also stipulated in EPRP’s program. The only problem/question I have when it comes to Article 39 is whether Meles’ government is genuine about it or is it a matter of political expediency.
Ethiopia was known to be a prison for nations and nationalities were few had lived a life of excessive comfort. I believe that if we need to remain united we need to respect each other. ‘Zeraf, ande Ethiopia woy mote’ has alredy cost us our Eritreans brothers and sisters. If we respected their demand, today we would have been still together. Mengistu Hailemariam, a man who sounded very much like most of you on this blog, sang the same song that you do here. What happened at the end of the day? Go figure!!
As to I am being a dangerous, I would say you are right. Not necessarily that I am dangerous to anyone, but to myself. TPLF doesn’t see Ethiopia as a whole the future of Ethiopia, it is focusing on greater Tigray that includes Eritrea. So it doesn’t see itself as Ethiopian but an entity with Tigrayan speaking people living together but it requries the destruction of Ethiopa, the rest of ethnic groups. they are driven by ethnicity that is why people like Ezana strongly campaigns driven purely by ethnicity not by Ethiopianism. Can you imagine a multi ethnic population nation regime campaigning for the disintegration of its own nation with even existing past opression? You don’t see any nation like these, if it is, it is influenced by outside force for resource benefit. TPLF was also influenced and however is a unique entity by itself driven by its ethnic groups as if it is going to live completely in mars away from any ethnic groups. Ethiopians are forgiving but are just observing to what measure TPLF is capable of going in its crimes. Even if it goes extreme which is already going, Ethiopians are people who will give you a lesson but not act on barbarism of cycle of revenge. Yet, tPLF knows of this mercy from Ethiopians, that is why it is continuing its crimes, thinking nothing will happen to them. Ethiopians however also draw the line on cherry picking the crimes committed by TPLF and achieving justice. Just because they are forgiving, they also aware of giving justice for crimes committed against Ethiopians.

The staff member I talked to is not from my nationality. And I am going to verify that myself when I go there next month. Add to many youths who were thrown in Malaria infested area. Probably thousands may have died. The systematic killing as I said before the game has changed. It will not be like Mengistu style. It will be systematically killing. Have you heard when prominent ethiopians died of “unknown cause”?, disappearing? taking away livelihoods of Ethiopains is another system of killing. Starving the people is another way of killing that is in fact worse than Mengistu. Although as I said, they are all evil but in different ways.
Although I agree with most of things mr attaye. Said, I completely disagree removing AU from Ethiopia. Ethiopia is one the founder of AU and the history of AU belongs to the people who stablished it. Hi everyone, its interesting to read differing opinions. The bad thing happening in Ethiopia right now is not less what was happening in South Africa 3 years before Meles was taking office, may be worst. Is there anyway that all Ethiopians care about the country more than caring about an individual who is not better than wild creature hungry for human flesh? I have few questions for those who sound like tigrayans. How do you define Ethiopia and Ethiopians? Is Ethiopia belong to Ethiopians? Deep down in your hearts you know that what Meles is doing is wrong. Divide and rule. I believe he is doing nasty business in your name, but not for you. This guy is doing crime against humanity. Mengistu told you what you can do and can’t do. Unless you did what he told you not to do, you are alright. Meles was the preacher of democracy, but killed you to be belonging to certain tribes, even if he doesn’t like the color of your eyes. AU is dead now but it is the very organization that freed Africa. It does not help any African country to get democratic but it should be there in case colonialism returns back. Now I see that colonization is coming back just like Ivory Cost and Liberia. We need AU in case we need it one day.

Zinawi is representing himself and his anti-Ethiopia organization in AU.As Aba Gabramadhin,head of the Ehtiopian Orthodox Tawahido Church assigned by Zinawi working towards the distruction of EOTC.While Zinawi is weakening AU,Aba Gabramadhin is weakening EOTC.How could one say Ethiopia is justly represented in AU while Zinawi is not a legitimate representative of Ethiopia and Ethiopians.To Keep the integrity and existence of EOTC,of course,Zinawi and his regime must be totally removed from the surface of Ethiopia.
Let us not get way over our head. We know TPLF is racist anti democratic regime. But that does not justify to expel AU in Ethiopia. Some anti Ethiopians are taking advantage of our anger on TPLF regime to decimate Ethiopia. That is why we Ethiopians should be vigilant on what things to boycott and what not to bocott. AU or OAU existed before TPLF regime in Ethiopia even though TPLF uses it as if it belongs to it by conspiring with other dictators. We need to make a distinction between TPLF actions and things that is part and parcel of Ethiopia. For instance, we may boycott EAL but that is by no means to say it does and will not belong to us. The reason we boycott is to correct actions and not to collaborate with TPLF. It is really hard to demand EAL not to collabroate when it is really kneeling under TPLF. TPLF is using every institutions that we and past leaders worked hard for as its play ground by collaborating with some greedy Ethiopians and more foreigners. MR. Ayitty should demand dictators from ruining AU not, expelling AU from Ethiopia. It has been the hard work of our past leader HIM who established this institution. Why Mr. Ayitty said this is proabably he is opposed to our petition to build statue for HIM. I hope not.

What of Nkrumah as well, histories are written about Nkrumah. The only way Ethiopia and her history is being trashed today is because of TPLF. Gana today is considered a success in democracy, because of the good work today that Ghana is doing now, their past leaders are also praised. Ethiopia under TPLF is trashed under TPLF today as well as our past leaders who worked hard for Ethiopia. Name one successful projkect done by Mengistu and TPLF? None! TPLF might be lucky in some lame development because they got lucky due to globalization, as well as diaspora coming back and developing (under HIM, the diaspora was just experiencing study abroad and life over seas away from Ethiopia back then)and TPLF sleeping with foreigners by acting as a subordinate unlike HIM. Let us see, there are so many visibile success under past emperors: railroads, building trees euclyptus from Australia creating forest to protect Ethiopia’s climate(today TPLF is burining forests), Ethiopian Airlines that is considered the top notch in Africa and even some European countries (I remember students from Eastern Europe, Africa and some Europe used to come to study ground technician technique in Ethiopia, is it still happeneing today? Probably not), Addis Ababa, agriculutral Universities, etc, throughout Ethiopia (meant for ALL Ethiopians unlike today education quality is emphasised only in Tigray region. What is more, those , the head, who are anti Ethiopians and anti Haileselassie today had the privilege to go to schools and universitites he built including Meles and Isayas). Wher is the proof that HIM system favored only one kind of ethnic group?
NOw that neoliberalism is expanding rapidly, the Global elite might coerce AU into anything that is in their favor. So is AU ever going to be effective? Leave Ghans’s issues to Nigeria who knows the psychological make up of its intellectuals. For a long time Ghana has been hiding under the shadow of Nigeria and grasping all to its advantages, once Nigeria solves its internal issues, it will claim its rightful place, which is now taken by Ghana in the region during this never ending chaos period in Nigeria. The long peaceful period in Ghana after colonialism helped it to utilize colonist methods and psychologies to gain advantage over the other African countries. What is written here is a reflection of that.
