Another Ethiopian maid is found hanged

Bahrain – AN Ethiopian maid hanged herself at her Bahraini sponsor’s house in Barbar at around 1pm yesterday.

The victim, who was in her 20s, was found hanging from a shower curtain rail by her sponsor, Chief Public Prosecutor Ahmed Bucheeri said yesterday.

“The sponsor suspected that something was wrong with the housemaid so he broke into the bathroom to find her hanging from the rail,” said Mr Bucheeri.

“She had hung herself using her scarf.”

Mr Bucheeri went down to the scene and examined the body, along with a medical examiner, who found no signs of foul play.

The sponsor tried to save her by cutting down the scarf but it was too late, said Mr Bucheeri.

“Apparently the housemaid suffered from emotional problems and wanted to go back to her country, but her family insisted she stay in Bahrain,” he said.

The sponsor said they had tried to get her medical help before.

“We took her to see a psychiatrist several times to help her get through her problems, but it was no use,” he said.

Investigations are continuing.

Another Ethiopian maid had committed suicide last Tuesday (Aug. 14) in United Arab Emirates.

  1. what is happening to our sisters in that part of the world? why is the government so relactant to look into these tragedies and help these helpless young ladies. i am 100 percent sure she died because she can no longer tolerate the discrimination and brutality that is imposed to her on every day bases. For me, no one leaves their contry to commite sucide. from what we here, she is probably forced to hang herselfs. so please let’s do someting to insure the right of our sisters is protected. we were able to bring change to the situations of the oppostions leaders, so why can’t we moblize the same kind of movement to shade light on the living condition of ethiopian women in Arabic countries. MAY GOD BLESS HER SOUL!

  2. All these tragedies can be attributed to the TPLF rule of Ethiopia. The girls commiting suicide, being taken advantage by arabs in the form of brothels, being eaten by Hayenas and wild animals when they make their tortous journey to south africa, being sunk in the red see on their route to Yemen, being involved in drugs in the West. All these is due to the living hell condition created by TPLF at home

  3. it is sad to hear another death an ethiopian sister. while reading this articel, i felt the topic of the article is wired and a bit offensive. for me “an Ethiopian Maid” is not the correct discription of this young woman. she should be refered as an Ethiopian imigrant because she is an imigrant who lost her life struggling for better life. to call her an Ethiopian imigrant would shade her a light on who she is rather than what she did for life. Although her job was a noble job, it does not do her any good in identifiying her as Ethiopian or solving the true reason why she lost her life.

  4. it is realy sad to hear such non edifying news everyday concerning we Ethiopians. I would like to put the blame for this on both the opposing and ruling parties or individuals, even if one is not formaly with in the sphere of the political aroma. The reason for this is that most of those that are participating in the political system avoids the very one fundamental concept that every human being be it oromos, tigrians, amharas, gurages …etc came out of the same father and mother- the original ones Adam and Eve. Pls do cooperate to take us out of this cheaos in brotherly and sisterly mood with a reasonalbe tone of tolerance than living the all time thought of the zemene mesafint-to think interms of blood and bone.

  5. I wish I had a hammer
    Which can nail down…?
    Which can forcibly resolve…
    Our problems and issue …
    What can be done?
    Where can we go?
To hear it makes me burn?
    To do something …
To stop this terrible story is impossible…
    But Let us try anyways…
    Why are we here…
Why is so much pain and agony…
Why is it only on us…
    What did we do ….
We as a people should cry out loud…
To God and to greatest powers…
To be listened for an action…
Next time to hear something exciting…

For our sister I would say R.I.P….
