Ethiopia’s opposition is now setting the agenda

አጀንዳን ስለመቅረጽ፡ የኛን አጀንዳ በኛው

ልቤ እንደተንጠለጠለ፡ የላፕቶፔ ሰሌዳ ላይ እንዳፈጠጥኩ ነው ልብ የሚሰቅል ቦታ ላይ ቃለ ምልልሱ የተቆረጠው። የሚቀጥለው ክፍል ምንም ይሁን ምን እስካሁን ያየሁት ክፍል አንድና ሁለት ብቻ አርክቶኛል። ከዚህ በኋላ አጀንዳችን የኛ ነው። እስካሁን አጀንዳችንን የሚደረድርልን ሕወሀት ነበር። አሁን እኛው ነን። “ማንም የታሪክ እስረኛ ሆኖ መኖር የለበትም። እኔም ራሴ የታሪክ እስረኛ መሆን አልፈልግም።” አልጨመርኩም፡ አልቀነስኩም። እንዳሉት እንደወረደ ሳልፈነክት ሳልተለትል ነው ያቀረብኩት። አቶ ኢሳይያስ አፈወርቂ ናቸው ይሄንን ያሉት። እኛ ትናንት አቶ ኢሳይያስ ምን አደረጉ አይደለም እንዲሾፍረን የምንፈልገው። ዛሬ አይተ ኢሳይያስ ምን አሉ እንጂ። እነሆ ኤርትራ በተገነጠለች በአስራ ስምንተ ዓመቷ፡ ኢህአዴግም ምኒሊክ ቤተመንግስት ገብቶ እኛንና አትዮጵያን እንደ ከብት መንዳት በጀመረበት ባስራ ስምንት ዓመቱ ኤልያስና ስለሺ የኤርትራውን ፕሬዚዳንት ቃለምልልስ በገጸ በረከትነት አበረከቱልን። ዛሬ አጀንዳችንን እኛው ቀረጽነው። እስከዛሬ ኢህአዴግ ነበር የሚቀርጽልን። ከግንቦት 7 መፈንቅለ መንገስት እስከ ታምራት ገለቴ ጥንቆላ፡ ከብርቱከን መታሰር እስከ ቅንጅት መፍረስ፡ ከምርጫ ዘጠና ሰባት እስከ ቴዲ አፍሮ መታሰር ድረስ፡ ኢህአዴግ በተናገረ ማግስት ነው ያንን ኢህአዴግ ያበጀልንን አጀንዳ እየተከተልን እንነጉድ የነበረው። ዛሬ የራሳችንን አጀንዳ ራሳችን ቀረጽን።

ኤልያስ ክፍሌ እና ስለሺ ባህር ተሻግረው፡ አገር አቆራርጠው ከኤርትራ ወርደው፡ የአቶ ኢሳይያስን ቃለምልልስና፡ ፈንጂ፡ እውነተኛ፡ የሚያሳዝኑም የሚያስደስቱም፡ አንዳንድ ግዜ ትንሽ ትንሽም ቢሆን የሚያበሳጩ፡ ነገር ግን ጠላትን ደም የሚያስቀምጡ፡ ሰላም የሚነሱና የሚያሸብሩ፡ ያለተበረዙ፡ ፍልሚያ ለዋጭ፡ ያለተሰረዙ ያልተደለዙ ሀሳቦቻቸውን አቀረቡልን። አሁን ኳስ በኛ እጅ ናት። አጀንዳው የኛ ነው። ሕወሀትን አንድ ርምጃ ቀድመነዋል። እነሆ የአቶ ኢሳኢያስ ቃለ ምልልስ አዝማች፡ “ኑ እና እንወያይ። እንነጋገር። መነጋገርና ነገሮችና ማጽዳት አለብን። ኢትዮጵያን ማዳከም ፍላጎታችን አይደለም። የታሪክ እስረኞች መሆን የለብንም። የታሪክ ባሮች አንሁን።” የሚል ነው።

ቃለምልልሱ፡ ልብ አድርሱ፡ እንባ አብሱ፡ ያለፈውን እርሱ …

ከዚህ በፊትም ጽፈናል። ከፈራረሰች ኢትዮጵያ ይልቅ፡ ለኤርትራ፡ የማታሰጋት ግን አስተማማኝ ጎረቤት ያስፈልጋታል ብለናል። አቶ ኢሳይያስም ይሄንኑ ነው ያሉት። “We need a safe neighbourhood::” ኤርትራ በባዶ አየር ላይ አትኖርም። በምድር ላይ እንጂ። “Eritrea will not survive in a vacuum።” በቅርቡ በአሜሪካና በአውሮፓ ስለተደረጉ የሁለቱ አገር ህዝቦችና ምሁራን ውይይትና ንግግር ሲጠየቁ፡ በሁለቱ ህዝቦች መካከል የሚደረጉ ውይይቶች መበረታታትና መጨመር አለባቸው። በሁለቱ ህዝቦች መካከል የሚፈጠርና የሚጠናከር ኢኮኖሚአዊና ፖለቲካዊ ትስስር እንቅልፍ የሚነሳቸው ስልጣናችንን ያሳጣናል ብለው የሚሰጉትንና የሚሸበሩትን የወያኔ ቡድኖች ነው። እነዚያ ጥቂት እና አናሳ ሀይሎች በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ የሚኖራቸውን ስልጣን ይሸረሽራል ብለው ሰግተው ነበር። ስለዚህም ነው የኤርትራ ጉዳይ አሁን የደረሰበት ደረጃ ላይ እንዲደርስ ያደረጉት። ስሙን ምንም እንበለው ምንም፡ ኮንፌደሬሽንም ይሁን ፌደሬሽን፡ በኢትዮጵያና በኤርትራ መካከል እንዲኖር ይፈለግ የነበረው የኢኮኖሚ፡ የደህንነትና የንግድ የባህልና የህልውና ውህደት ይመጣል። ይሄ ውህደት አደገኛ ነው ብለው በመስጋት ነው ወያኔዎች ወደዚህ አሁን እብደት ነው ወደምለው የድንበር ግጭት የገቡት። የድንበር ግጭቱ ግን የሀሰት ምክንያት ነው። ዋና ስጋት ስልጣናቸውን የማጣት ነው። ስለዚህም የሆነ ሆኗል። ማንም የታሪክ ታጋች፡ እስረኛ አይሁን። መጪ ዘመናችንን ግን እናበጀው አሉ። እነሆ የአቶ ኢሳኢያስ ቃለ ምልልስ አዝማች፡ “ኑ እና እንወያይ። እንነጋገር። መነጋገርና ነገሮችና ማጽዳት አለብን። ኢትዮጵያን ማዳከም ፍላጎታችን አይደለም። የታሪክ እስረኞች መሆን የለብንም። የታሪክ ባሮች፤ የታሪክ ታጋቾች አንሁን።”

ስለሕወሀት፡ ስለብሄረ ድርጅቶች፡ ስለኢትዮጵያ

በዚህ ውይይት ላይ ከምንም በላይ የማረከኝ መልሱ ብቻ አይደለም። ጥያቄዎቹ። የዛሬ ሁለት ሶስት ወር አቶ ኤልያስ ክፍሌ ለአቶ ኢሳይያስ አፈወርቂ የሚሆኑ ጥያቄዎች አምጡ አለን። አፌዝንበት። ተዘባበትንበትም። ጥያቄ ቀረበ። ፈጣጣው ኤልያስም ይሆን ቆፍጣናው ስለሺ ጥያቄውን አይናቸውን ሳያሹ አቀረቡት። “እንደው ከዚህ ከመለስ ጋረ እስካሁን ማታ ማታ ትገናኛላችሁ፡ ለተቃዋሚውም ታሰጋላችሁ የሚል? አቶ ኢሳይያስ ፈገግ ይላሉ። አንዳንዴ ብዙ የማይቆይ ሳቅም ይስቃሉ። ፊት ማንበብ ለሚችል ሰው፡ የፊታቸው ወዝ፡ የአይናቸው እንቅስቃሴዎች፡ የሰውነታቸው ምላ እውነት ወይንም ወደ እውነት የቀረበ ነገር እየተናገሩ እንደሆነ ያናገራል። “የታሪክ እስረኞች/ታገቾች መሆን የለብንም” አሉ ደግመው ደጋግመው። ይሄ ሰውዬ፤ አቶ ኢሳያስ እነዚህ ሰዎችን ያውቃቸዋል። በተለይ “እነዚህን ሰዎች የሰራቸው የፈጠራቸው እሱ ነው” የምንል ከሆነም፡ ይሄ ሰው የሰራቸውን ፍጥረቶች ባህርይ ያውቃል ማለት ነው። ስለዚህ እነዚህን ሰዎች ለመጣል ከዚህ ከምንጩ መስማማት የግድ ነው ጎበዝ። ቀጠሉ አቶ ኢሳይያስ። “ይሄ የኤርትራና የኢትዮጵያ አጋርነት ቃልኪዳን ነው። ለኛ ትግሬ ከኦሮሞ ወይንም ከአማራው የቀረበ ነውና አሳልፋችሁ ትሰጡናላችሁ የሚለው የማይታሰብ ነው። ያ ወያኔ የፈጠረው የጥርጣሬና ያለመተማመን በሽታ ነው።” ህወሀትን ከኢሳይያስ የተሻለ የሚያውቀው የለም። እንዲህ ሲሉ ስለወያኔ መሰከሩ። “የህወሀት ስተራቴጂክ ምርጫ፡ ለአማራውም ለኦሮሞውም ለደቡቡም እነሱ እንዳሻቸው የሚጠፈጥፉት ድርጅት መፍጠር ነበር።” ይሄን የሚጠራጠር አለ? ከመጀመሪያውም ወያኔዎች ከሌሎች ብዙሀን ድርጅቶች ጋር በመተማመን መስራት ከፍተኛ ስጋታቸው ነበር። በፍጹም አይፈልጉትም። ስለዚህ የወያኔ ቡድን እንጂ፡ ኤርትራ ከኢትዮጵያ መከፋፈል በምንም መልኩ አታተርፍም። ኤርትራ ለትግራይ የቀረበ ለሌሎቹ ደግሞ የራቀች አይደለችም። ሀሰት ነው። ሕወሀቶች ያንን መቀራረባችንን አይፈልጉትም።

ስለብሄር ድርጅቶች ተጠየቁ። በተለይ በኤርትራ በኩል መግፋተ ያስፈልጋል ስንል ከዚህ በፊትም የመከርን ሰዎች አንዳንዱ ጥያቄ ባይጠየቅ ሁሉ እንመርጥ ነበር። ምክንያቱም ሰውዬው እንዲፋጠጡብን ወይም እንዲቆጡብንና መንገዳችን እንዲደናቀፍ አልፈለግንም ነበራ። እነ ኤልያስ ግን ፍንክች የለም። ፈታጦች። ጠየቁ። “ግን ታዲያ ለምን በብሄር የተደራጁ ድርጅቶችን ትደግፋላችሁ?” ለሽግግር። አጭርም ረጅምም መልስ ነው። አቶ ኢሳያስ፡ ከቶውንም ቋሚ በሆነ መልኩ በብሄር መደራጀትን አይፈቅዱትም። ለነገሩ ትክክል ናቸው። የኤርትራ እንጂ የኩናማ ወይ የሳሆ ወይ የዚህ ብሄ ድርጅት ብለው አልተዋጉም። “በብሄር መደራጀት ለጊዜው የምንፈልገውን እስክናገኝ አስፈላጊ ነው። ነገር ግን ቋሚ አይደለም፡ ከዛሬ ሀያ ሰላሳ አመታት በኋላ ኢትዮጵያ በብሄር ብሄረሰቦች ተከፋፍላ ማየት አንፈልግም። ያ በኤርትራ እንዲሆን አንሻም። ያ በሱዳን እንዲሆን አንሻም። ያ በኢትዮጵያ እንዲሆን አንሻም። ያ በየትኛውም አፍሪካ እንዲሆን አንሻም። ስለዚህ የኢትዮጵያ ተቃዋሚዎችን አሳልፎ መስጠት የማይታሰብ ነው። የማይሞከር። ቀድሞውን ነገር ያ ትልቅ ስህተት ነው። የኢትዮጵያ በብሄሮች ተከፋፍላ መኖር። ያ ጊዜያዊ ነገር ነው። ዋናው ነገር ኢትዮጵያ እንደሀገር መኖሯ፡ነው። በራስህ እንዲሆን የማትፈልገውን በባልንጀራህ አታድርግ የሚለው ቃል በአቶ ኢሳይያስ ተፈጸመ። ጭፍን ልመስል እችላለሁ። ግን አውቃለሁ፡ አቶ ኢሳይያስ ቀድሞ ጸረ-ኢትዮጵያ ድርጊቶችን ፈጽመው ይሆናል። ግን ያ ድሮ ነው። አሁን ግን ዘንድሮ ላይ ነን። ሌላ ዘመን ሌላ ስርአት መጣ። ከዘያ የሳቸው አዝማች አለ። እነሆ የአቶ ኢሳይያስ ቃለ ምልልስ አዝማች፡ “ኑ እና እንወያይ። እንነጋገር። መነጋገርና ነገሮችና ማጽዳት አለብን። ኢትዮጵያን ማዳከም ፍላጎታችን አይደለም። የታሪክ እስረኞች መሆን የለብንም። የታሪክ ባሮች አንሁን። የታሪክ ታጋቾች።”

ተጨማሪ፡ ስለበሄሮች: የታሪከ እስረኛ ስለመሆን

የኢትዮጵያን አንድነት አይፈልጉም? በዚህም ምክንያት የብሄር ብሄረሰበችን ድርጅቶች ይደግፋሉ? የአርበኞች ግንባርንም አያንቀሳቅሱትም? ተብለው ተጠየቁ። በነገራችን ላይ አሁንም እነ ኤልያስ ጥያቄዎቹን እንደወረዱ ነው ያቀረቡዋቸው። እነመለስ እንኩዋን፡ የበላው ይመለስና፡ የኢትዮጵያ መሪ ተብለው ከኢትዮጵያዊያን የማይቀበሏቸውን ጥያቄዎች ነው ያስተናገዱት። ጠያቂዎቹንም ተጠያቂውንም አደንቃለሁ። ያለምንም መጎላደፍና መኮላተፍ፡ ግን በልበ ሙሉነትና በትህትና ነው ያቀረቡት ጥያቄዎቹን። ይሄ የማይጨበጥ ግምት ነው። ይሄ የመነጨው ኤርትራ ራሷን ችላ ልትኖር የምትችለው ወይንም የኤርትራ ህልውና የተመረኮዘው በኢትዮጵያ መጥፋት ላይ ነው ከሚል የተሳሳተ ግምት ነው። “We can live side by side with a strong and powerful Ethiopia.” ከዚህ በላይ ይሄ ሰው ምን ቃል ይስጠን? ቃሉን ብቻ እንመን አይደለም። ግን፡ መጀመሪያ ቃል ነበረ ነው የሚለው መጽሀፍ ቅዱስ። ከዚያ ቃልም ስጋ ሆነ። የምንም ነገር መነሻው ቃል ነው። የመጀመሪያ መገለጫው ቃል ነው። ባንናገረውም ሀሳብ ራሱ ቃል ነው። ለራሳችን የሚወጣ ቃል። “የተባበረችና የተዋሀደች ጠንካራ ኢትዮጵያ ለኤርትራም ጥንካሬ ነች።” ትክክል ነው። ስጋት ከነበረ ያለፈ ነው። ታሪክ። It is Nostalgic. ትናንት የነበረ። በድሮ በሬ ያረሰ ደግሞ የለም። ይሄ የኛ ዘመን ነው። በዚህ በኛ ዘመን የምንኖረው። የኛን ዘመን ደግሞ በኛ አዲስ መንገድ እንጂ በአባቶቻችን ቂም ልንቃኝ አይገባም ብዬ ጽፌያለሁ ከዚህ ቀደም።

ኑ እና ታሪክ እንስራ

በዚህ ቃለ ምልለሰ ላይ፡ አቶ ኢሳይያስ ለኛ ኢህአዴግን እንዋጋለን ለምንለውና ለኢትዮጵያ ተቃዋሚ ህዝቦች በሙሉ ግልጽ ጥሪም አቅርበዋል። ኑና እንወያይ። ኑ እና የእግዚአብሄርን ቤት እንስራ አይነት ነገር። ኑና የተበላሸውን የኢትዮጵያና የአካባቢአችንን ሁኔታ እንገንባ። ለመስማትና ለመነጋገር ዝግጁ ነኝ ብለዋል። አድምጥ ብርሀኑ። አድምጥ አንዳርጋቸው። አድምጥ ኢህአፓ። አድምጥ ኢህአዴግም። ከኤርትራዊያንና ኢትዮጵያውያን ስብሰባዎችና ውይይቶች ባሻገር መሄድ አለብን። ከዚያም ልቀን ሄደን፡ አብረን መስራት አለብን። እንደጎረቤት መኖር ካስፈለገን፡ መነጋገር ምንም ምርጫ የለውም። አንዳንድ ሰዎች ኤርትራን አሁን ኢትዮጵያ ለደረሰችበት ጥፋት ተጠያቂ ከማድረገቸው የተነሳ፡ ቀድሞውንም ነገር፡ አይደለም ከኤርትራ መስራት፡ ጭራሹንም ስሟም እንዲነሳ አይፈልጉም። ለነገሩ የኤርትራ ጉዳይ ባለመነጋገርና በመሸሽ የምናመልጠው ጉዳይ አይደለም። እኛ ባንፈልግም ኤርትራ ጎረቤት እንደሆነች ትቀጥላለች። ኤርትራ የወረቀት አገር አይደለችም። መሬት ላይ፡ያለች፡ የመሬት የቆነጠጠች፡ ብዙዎቻችን ባይዋጥልንም አገር ነች። ሆናለች። ብድግ አድርገው አጥፍተው የሚገላገሏት ዝንብ አይደለችም። ተነስተው ሌላ ቦታ መሄድ አይችሉም። እስራኤሎች ከፍልስጤም ጋር አለመነጋገር አይችሉም። በሰላምም ይሀን በጠብመንጃ መነጋገራችን አይቀርም። ከሆነ ግን ሰላም ይበልጣል።

አሁንም ስለብሄሮች፡ አዲሲቱ ኢትዮጵያና አዲሲቱ ኤርትራ

የተለያዩ ድርጅቶችን የምንረዳው፡ ነጻይቱ ኤርትራ ከአዲሲቷ ኢትዮጵያ ጋር አዲስ አጋርነት እንድትመሰረት ስለምንፈልግ ነው። ሽግግርም ነው። እንጂ መጨረሻ ግብም አይደለም። የተዋሀደችና የተባበረች ኢትዮጵያ ኤርትራን ታሰጋለች ብየ አንድም ቀን አስቤ ሰግቼ አላውቅም። አቶ ኢሳያስ ቀጠሉ። ራሳቸው ኢህአዴጎች ለምን ከኤርትራ ጋር መንግስቱን ለማውረድ ሰሩና ነው አሁን ከኤርትራ ጋር መስራትን እንደ ወንጀል የሚሰብኩት? እነሱ ቀድሞውንም ነገር የሞራል ብቃት የላቸውም። በርግጥ ቃለ ምልልሱንም አቶ ኢሳይያስንም ምሉእ አድርጌ አላቀርብም። ያንን የሚመኝ ካለ ምኞት አይከለከልም። እዚህ ጋር ችግሩ፡ አቶ ኢሳይያስ ጥያቄው የሚነሳው በይበልጥ ከኢህአዴግ በኩል ሳይሆን ከኛው ከተቃዋሚዎች በኩል መሆኑን ስተዋል። የተቃዋሚው ወገን ነው በተለይ ይሄንን ነገር አጥብቆ የሚያነሳው። ይሄንን ስጋት የሚገልጸው። የወያኔ ክስ አንድም ቀን አሳስቦን አያውቅም። የሆነ ሆኖ እሳቸው ግን ቀጠሉ። “እኛ ኢትዮጵያን በብሄርና በጎሳ መከፋፈል ብንፈልግ፡ ይሄንን ኢትዮጵያን በብሄር የመከፋፈሉንና የማዳከሙን ስራ ሕወሀተ/ኢህአዴግ ኦልሬዲ በነጻ እየሰራው ስለሆነ፡ ለምን በዚያ ስራ ላይ ጊዜስ ገንዘብስ እናጠፋለን? ቆይ ትንሽ ያብራሩት። “ያንን ቀድሞውንም አንፈልገውም። ይልቅስ ራሱ ኢህአዴግ ያንን የጥፋት ስራ እዚያው ኢትዮጵያ አናት ላይ ቁጭ ብሎ እየሰራ ስለሆነ ኤርትራ እንዲህ አረገች ብሎ ሊከስ አይችልም። ያ ሆን ተብሎ የሚሰነዘር ውዥንብር ነው።” ይሄ ሀሰት ነው ሚል አለ?
በመሰረቱ፡ “በመከፋፈል የሚያምኑ ደካሞችና በራሳቸው እምነት የሌላቸው በራሳቸው የማይተማመኑ ናቸው።” ያ ደግሞ ወያኔ ነው። “there is no animosity, there is no hidden agendas there is no conspiracy” ማንም መጥቶ ማየት ይችላል። ሰውዬም በስሜትና በእልህ ነው እዚህ ጋር የተናገሩት። ያንን ብቻ ነጥለን ካየነው፡ እውነተኛነታቸው ምንም ቅንጣት ታህል አያጠራጥርም። ምንም ጠላትነት፡ ምንም የተደበቀ አጀንዳ፡ ምንም አይነት ሴራ የለም። ከዚያ የቃለ ምልልሱ አዝማች ይቀጥላል። እንወያይ። እንነጋገር። መነጋገርና ነገሮችና ማጽዳት አለብን። ኢትዮጵያን ማዳከም ፍላጎታችን አይደለም። የታሪክ እስረኞች መሆን የለብንም። የታሪክ ባሮች።

ያልተመቸኝ ነገር፡ ትንሽ ያልተቀበልኩት

ይሄ በትግራይ ያለው ወያኔን የመቃወም እንቅስቃሴ ወይንም መንፈስ በሌላ የኢትዮጵያ ክፍል ካለው የከፋና የባሰ ነው ያሉትን ነገር አልወደድኩላቸውም። ሁለት ነጥቦችን አነሳለሁ። አንደኛ የትግራይ ህዝብ ሕወሀትን አጥብቆ ይቃወማል የሚለው መሰረተ ቢስና ማስረጃ የለሽ ሀሳብ ነው። ቢሆንም ግን፡ ሁሌም እንደምንለው የትግራይ ህዝብ ህወሀትን የሚቃወምበት አጀንዳና እኛ ህወሀትን የምንቃወምበት አጀንዳ የተለያየ ነው። አንዱ እናቱ የሞተችበት አንዱ እናቱ ገበያ የሄደችበት ብለን ገልጸነዋል ከዚህ ቀደም። ለምሳሌ የዛሬ ሁለት ሶስት ወር ሪፖርተረ እንደዘገበው፡ በብሄራዊ ቲያትር የተሰበሰቡ የትግራይ ተወላጆች ስብሰባውን ለመራው የሕወሀት ሰው ያቀረቡተ አቤቱታ፡ እኛ መስዋእትነት ከፍለን ሳለ ከሌላው ክልል ያነሰ ጥቅሟ፡ትቅም ነው የምናጘነው የሚል ነው። ሁለተኛ የተቀረው ህዝብ ተቃውሞ ሁሉ በተለያየ መንገድ ሲገለጽ፡ ባለፉት 18 ዓመታት የትግራይ ህዝብ ተቃውሞ ባንድ ሰልፍ እንኩዋን ሲገለጽ አላየነውም። በመሰረቱ ለትግራይ ህዝብም ከዚህ የተሻለ መንግስት ይመጣል ብለን አናምንም። አቶ ኢሳይያስ ወያኔ የትግራይን ህዝብ ከተቀረው የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ ስለነጠለው በህዝቡ ዘንድ በወያኔ ላይ ከፍተኛ ቅሬታ አለ የሚሉት ነገር አልተዋጠልኝም። ችግሩ ከኔ እይታ ከሆነ፡ የጭንቅላቴን ጉሮሮ አስፍቼ ለማየት እሞክራለሁ።

የአቶ ኢሳያስ ቃለምልልስ አስደስቶኛል። የዚያን አካባቢ ውጥንቅጥ፡ ሚዛነዊ በሆነ መልኩ የሌሎች ድርጅቶችንም ስጋት ከግምት አስገብተው ጥያቄዎቹን መልሰዋል። ከአንዳንድ ድርጅቶች፡ ለምሳሌ ከኦነግ በኩል ምላሽ ሊኖር ይችላል። ለምሳሌ እነዚህ የብሄር ድርጅቶች ዘላለማዊና ቋሚ አይደሉም ለጊዜው እንጂ ለሚለው። ስለራስን እድል በራሰ መወሰን እስከመገንጠልመ ተናግረዋል። ከዚያ በተረፈ የቃለምልልሱ አዝማች ይመቻል። እንወያይ። እንነጋገር። መነጋገርና ነገሮችና ማጽዳት አለብን። ኢትዮጵያን ማዳከም ፍላጎታችን አይደለም። የታሪክ እስረኞች መሆን የለብንም። የታሪክ ባሮች አንሁን። ስለአሰብና ምጽዋ ያው The sky would be the limit for co-operation. ሉአላዊነት ሌላ ጉዳይ ነው። ትክክል ናቸው። ከዚህ በኋላ ለአሰብና ለምጽዋ አንሄድም። ኤርትራ ራሷ የኛ ትሆናለች መልሳ። የሁላችንም። እስከዚያው ግን ከታሪክ እስር ቤት ሰብረን ወጥተን፡ ከኤርትራ አይደለም ከሶማሌም ተባብረን እነዚህን ሰዎች ማስወገድ አለብን። እንደነግንቦት ሰባት ያሉ ድርጅቶች ይሄንን ወርቃማ እድል ሲሆነ ሲሆን መጠቀም፡ ቢያንስ ግን ከግምት ማስገባት አለባቸው። ያው እኔው ነኝ። እኔ አባኪያ።

  3. Very good analysis – Setting our own agenda. I was watching the 5th part of the interview. It is as wonderful as the first three (the 4th part is missing). Now things are very clear and we know our direction. What we need to work on is coordinating our straggle. At first we missed our aim then now our aim improved. Let us do what is expected from every citizen.

We should look forward to work with PIA .Remember self determination was once fashion in the 60’s. One of the prominent perhaps the original promoter of this idea was Wallelign from wollo. Should we not consider that his cause was justified and accepted by many?Now it is time to correct mistakes. I hope the opposition groups should not miss this golden chance. BTW I am Ethiopian from Tigray. I wonder why you don’t agree on Esayas’ analysis that Tigreans are at freeze. You do not seem to listen what you have to listen. Though I need to appreciate you when you say “may be I am wrong.”

    ONE STRONG OBJECTION I have is on your claim “yetigray hizib kezih yeteshale mengist aymetaletim.” Please stay away with such a claim. Let’s assume you are right…I hope Esayas expressed his concern about National parties. If you believe in unity…what ever is good for the rest of the country will be good for TIGRAY too.

    Please listen the Radiosnit at WUST 1120 AM how Tigreans are fighting. DO not forget they always are at jeopardy SAD thing nobody reports when this TYRANT EPRDF/TPLF kills them behind the doors in Tigray. Believe me there is no Justice there.. LET’s UNITE.. Now is the time.

    President Esayas-The only consistent President I have ever seen in Horn of Africa. Hey my fellow citizens–Remeber Esayas needs to protect, preserve his what ever benefits advantages of his people and that is what he should be.

Nobody cares for them including you who have no information about the region.Remember I am not referring to Seye or Gebru.

    2 “I dont agree with the president’s notion that Tigrains are increasingly becoming resistant to woyanane’ rule” which I think is right again! at least they tacitly approve woyane’s actions and sometimes try to convince us that woyane is the best we can get……….. and that hurts a lot!

    The rest is just reiteration of what we have heard and could comprehend easily!

  11. General Tefera Mamo – who was arrested this week for allegedly preparing an anti-government army operation jointly with the opposition group Ginbot 7 led by Berhanu Nega and Andargatchew Tsige had been under the surveillance of the Ethiopian security services for some time.

    The latter had categorised him as “discontented Amhara”. Born in Lalibela in the Wollo region and well-known combatant for the EPRDF (the former rebel movement now ruling in Addis Ababa) in this zone, Tefera Mamo has been a member of the EPDM, the ancestor of the AmharaNational Democratic Movement (ANDM, party in the government coalition). After rising through the ranks, he became deputy commander of the Shire region in the west of the Tigray Regional State. This lasted until he was recalled to Addis Ababa and put into a so-called retirement. Like many officers, the government attributed him a loan of 3 million birrs ((EURO) 200,000) so that he could have a house built. Married and a father, Tefera Mamo has recently participated, together with Lieutenant General Abebaw Tadesse, in a film tracing the history of the ANDM. He was also one of the characters in a long documentary propaganda report on the EPRDF armed forces which was published on a pro-government Internet web site. He has in the past revealed his sympathies for the Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD opposition). He had, on a few occasions, criticised the discrimination in the army against Amhara and the second class status of the ANDM.

    And he has even been involved in a serious disagreement with one of the main ANDM leaders, Adissu Legesse, whom he considered was always backing the Prime Minister Meles Zenawi rather than defending the interests of the ANDM.

  12. Ethiopian soldiers and officers based in the east of the country are accusing their hierarchy of discrimination. According to information obtained by The Indian Ocean Newsletter, the complaints by soldiers and officers based in Harar and Jijiga have reached the ears of their high command.

    Their accusations concern various forms of discrimination (for example, dismissing some soldiers without compensation, while others are given it, unfairness in promotions, Tigrayan soldiers and officers have separate doctors from other ethnic groups). The Tigrayan General Igziabher Mebrat went on the spot to calm down the tempers. He got carried away during one meeting with soldiers: he displayed an Ethiopian flag and said “we have enough enemies; we must stay united in the interest of Ethiopia”. The Amhara General Abebaw Tadesse also came to speak to the angry soldiers. These two high-ranking officers promised to come back with the answers from the ministry of defence. But meanwhile, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi summoned General Samora Yunis and other Tigrayan generals and asked them to put an end to this fledgling agitation within the army.

  13. Very good analysis full of insightful inferences. I hope and pray that something positive will come out of this historical interview. These dear sons of our homeland (former or present) have toiled so much to bring us such extensive conversation with President Isaias that is so widely available to all people at large. The last time I heard this man press conference was in 1989 or 1990 when he came here to the USA and answered questions to the Media in San Francisco. I think by then his troops had already taken over Massawa. He tried to prepare the world what was about to unfold in Eritrea and The Horn. But that was not advertised in advance and I was not even aware it would broadcast on NPR. I happened to be a constant audience of NPR and still am. But this time, we were told well in advance and I was and still am surprised by the length of the conversation. So now the question is what is next? Elias and Sileshi have done their job very, very well. I and I believe everyone here would like to know what the protagonists are going to do next. This regards EPPF, OLF, ONLF, G7 and many political groupings out there. They have to come out in the open and explain their position and next tasks on this very website. I don’t see anything wrong with that. After all Ethiopian Review site is a waterhole for all of us now. They should stop this useless bickering and behind the close door resolutions and tell it as it is right here on this very website. If they don’t, then they are still conspiring behind our backs and the blind spots of the Ethiopian people. They should bury the hatchet and start talking and chart a plausible plan as soon as possible. I mean before the end of this Ethiopian Calendar Year. And to my brothers and sisters from Tigray – I would like to tell you this. Stop being blind backers of a very small few among you who are doing injustice to the people at large in your name. This has unleashed unseen hatred towards you by the rest of the society. Most of you are not the beneficiaries of the policies of that Diablo from Adwa. Your concerns about your wretched living conditions will be addressed and resolved better and once and for all by a democratic system. You can not survive surrounded by a hostile majority which emanates from the despotic policies of the clique from Adwa. Listen and come along!! As always you will be accepted with open arms if you come clean and work with the majority in earnest and honesty. This is not a warning but rather to urge you to pay attention to your surroundings. No one was planning a genocide against you as you were and still being told by the Diablo and his cohorts. Nobody. So come home and join your family. And you others who are now huddled around a sickness of narrow nationalism – You are being told once again that narrow nationalism will not lead you to anywhere but to a dead end street. It has not taken you to anywhere except to where you are being used by the machination of the Diablo from Adwa. And your own nationalities have picked up the scent of narrow nationalism and have found its smell very offensive. Narrow nationalism stinks to high heaven.
    May God Bless All The Good Intentions of These Three Individuals and May God Save That Dear Home We All Call Ethiopia!!!!!

We do not even know when to use the upper and lower case. Can’t you notice the problem we have in writting in English even if we pretend we have the knowledge?

  15. Some observations

    Historically speaking, Ethiopia is an internally fractured society. The zemene-mesafint concepts seem to weigh heavily on the thinking of many Ethiopians.Ethiopia is made up of various communities (language groups, nationalities, etc.)Each community wants to be left alone to run its own affairs.These communities unite in two circumstances: (a)to fight a common threat, and (b)when these different communities are united under a powerful force (domestic or foreign).

    Each community has a name to identify itself with. If and when the elite of one community succeeds to forcefully combine some or all of the communities and establishes a state, that state is identified as Ethiopia. Power struggle has so far been violent, bloody, and deadly. Peaceful transition of power has yet to be a norm.That constant and violent struggle for power makes the competetors seek for help from outside and that action invites foreign forces to interfere and influence who comes to power or stays in power.

    Ethiopian elites, once in power, tend to stay in power for decades and in the process alienate other communities. They become obstacles to building a modern Ethiopian nation because they continue ethnic/nationality differences by seemingly serving the interests of a single ethnic group( and buy off individuals from other groups) rather than pursuing the interests of Ethiopia as a whole.

    Territorially, modern Ethiopia took its current shape during the reign of Emperor Menilik II. Ethio-Eritrea federation was the primary reason for the introduction of parliamentary elections to Ethiopia. Ethiopian political development has been in constant influx eversince. All those who ruled Ethiopia since then depended heavily on the backing of foreign powers. Emperor Haile Selassie depended on U.S. and Israeli alliance.Israel has foiled six coups (including the one that was led by Mengistu Neway and Girmame Neway) and trained anti-Eritrea commandoes to protect the emperor’s regime. Colonel Mengistu heavily depended on the U.S.S.R. and its sattelites as well as the non-antagonistic attitudes of the U.S. and Israel. And now, Prime Minister Melless and the Tigrai People’s Liberation Front almost totally rely on the assistance of the U.S. and Israel.This became obvious after the 2005 elections when the U.S. sided with Melless instead of the victims(i.e. the murdered peaceful demonstrators, detained elected officials, and the Constitution). Without foreign help the current regime would be hard-pressed to stay in power any longer.

    Therefore, building a united modern nation in Ethiopia is a right objective. The issue is nation-building, and needs to be done by the willful cooperation of the various Ethiopian communities. They have to want to build a nation. How is that going to be done? Generally, negotiations. Simple democratic elections are not going to be the answer. It is more than elections. But different options need to be considered. Another important factor is the role of opposition parties as change agents.

    The most glaring weakness of the Ethiopian opposition parties is their zemene-mesafint mentality. Their greatest common factor has so far been their failure to cooperate and form genuine working coalitions. Each wants others to work only according to its proposals. They renege on their agreements. Party leaders could not overcome the temptations of giving primacy to their immediate personal or group intersts, instead of the nation’s interests. There is often lack of democracy inside each party in electing leaders or making important decisions. There is also no mechanism of resolving internal conflicts if they arise. The result is infighting, pitched power struggles, splits, divisions, and further disintegration.That is a big cause for setbacks.

    Some solutions: have political study groups, train party members in areas of political education, mobilizing and organizing people, leadership, anger management, conflict resolution and negotiations to achieve common goals. These are not all natural qualities. They could be learned. And above all there must be a desire to solve the problems of your community. Remember, democracy cannot be imposed from outside. Democracy is a means of organizing people make decisions and work separately or together for making their lives better. Keep you focus on making the lives of the Ethiopian people better.
