ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (Reuters) – A group accused of plotting to overthrow the Ethiopian regime were remanded in custody on Monday again after spending more than one month in prison without any charges or visitation rights, relatives said.
Ethiopian Woyanne regime security forces are holding 41 former and current army personnel from a “terror network” the government says was formed by Berhanu Nega, an opposition leader now teaching economics at a university in the United States.
“They will be held for another two weeks,” a relative who did not want to be named told Reuters outside the court in Addis Ababa. “They were not even charged today.”
The 41 are accused of planning to assassinate senior government figures and blow up public utilities to provoke street protests and overthrow the government.
“The investigation was now complete,” one lawyer said.
Security forces killed about 200 protesters after parliamentary elections in 2005 when the opposition disputed the victory of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi’s government.
More than 100 relatives and supporters were gathered outside the courtroom. Ethiopian authorities have named only two of the prisoners despite calls from international rights groups that they name and charge all 41 detainees.
Neither family members nor lawyers have been able to visit the accused in prison, relatives said.

weyanes kangaro court still is not charging the brave Ethiopian generals. i am not surprised. cause there is no case to charge them.
weyane of course has no winnable case in a true court of law against these brave men. All this theatrics is just to buy more time to cook up bogus evidences to present and win in it’s kangaroo court. What’s disturbing is the silence of the so called international community, forget the African baboons, I mean the democratic nations led by USA and Britain the main lifeline of the weyane thugs.
Everybody should be prepared for the barbaric woyane it is like a wounded wild animal and does not hesitate from attacking all.
I am not surprised by the fake court to carry out due legal process against the defendants, the wayane can use the constitution to his interest, they can kill and say they are thieves , or imprison some body by accusing for killing somebody then changing the document as they want , this is very despicable act.
I am really worried not how the government tries to abuse the constitution for maintaining power for ever but even they are abusing the whole system, education ,legal, business, even cases which does not threaten their power,
These phenomen is going to endanger the country’s future and is going to ravel the country in to abysmal chaos unless everybody worked so hard to expose the despicable act of this regime,
Even it is a warning for the a tigray as a region because this case is a genocide to destroy other nationalities, and more systematic silencing of the people not to talk about the regime despicable act…
This is a message not only to those who sale their concise for a little money but even to wayane officers , which is going to haunt for the rest of their life
What ever the trial out come is these defendants remain satisfied it is better to die for the truth rather than live a life of dog.- and those who kept silent will get their due process one time—- nothing last for ever
