The Meles regime closes roads to northern Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA — Following the recent arrest of several individuals for allegedly plotting to assassinate Meles Zenawi and other {www:Woyanne} regime officials, roads to northern Ethiopia towns have been blocked and only those with identification cards can pass through the several check points.

According to Ethiopian Review sources, the Woyanne regime took this measure to catch more suspects from escaping to the country side and join the Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF).

In recent months, the number of Ethiopians who are joining EPPF has been increasing as the political repression in Ethiopia by the Woyanne tribal regime has intensified in preparation for next year’s general elections.

The EPPF radio, YeArbegnoch Dimts, has reported about the blocking of roads to Gondar and Gojjam in its recent broadcast, and Ethiopian Review has been able to independently verify the news.

  1. In the near future, We expect that Woyanne will start tightening rules for all home returning diasporas for fear of being ginbot 7 members and messengers. this time the real drama will change direction and top woyanne officials will accuse of each other of being Ginbot 7 members.

  2. I can attest to this fact. My father was not allowed to go back to his home in Gonder. He had to wait for two days before he was allowed to pass. Ethiopian review; now I can say that you guys have real way of measuring the temperature on the ground. You have my trust now and my family. Thank you

  3. Now, I know for sure the end of Woyanes is near; Meles is waking up the sleeping giants. This blood thirsty, heartless, murderer Meles knew he wouldn’t have made it to the palace in Addis Ababa if it weren’t for the brave men and women from Gonder, Gojam and Wollo and some towns in between. Meles misled them; he was lying then and he is still lying. This ungrateful, liar, sociopath, thief abandoned the very people that helped him to take power. In fact I heard some of the fighters were begging for food after the ungrateful dictator left them empty handed in the town they were unfamiliar with. If those people knew then what they know now that Meles would be worse than Mengestu the outcome would have been different.

Soon is not soon enough to get red off this murderer. Meles has abused his power in every way possible; enough is enough!! Meles has done it all—imprisoned, tortured, killed, gave the land to Sudan our families died for, taken land from one province to broaden Tigrae, have taken freedom of speech, press–what else is left for Meles to destroy Ethiopia before all the non-woyane soldiers who signed up to protect their country wake-up and do something about it? The time is now for all the opposition parties to come together as one party and fight the cancer of our country before Ethiopia is destroyed. Let’s leave our differences aside and join as one for the sake of our suffering people. PLEASE! PLEASE! Come together and unite and get rid off the CANCER that is destroying our beloved country ETHIOPIA!!

  4. The recent mass arrests by Woyanne and using the G7 as a scapegoat is deep in its heart designed primarily to fight the growing influence of EPPF within northern and central Ethiopia, Woyanne knows very well that G7 with its leadership overseas is no threat to them, the real threat is EPPF who has the capacity to fight and win real battles against the mercenary Woyanne military that is solely controlled by a clique within TPLF.

This is also a sign as to how effective the organizing capabilities of EPPF are, as its influence within Ethiopia grows it is natural that patriotic Ethiopians are joining its ranks everyday, the more the Ethiopian Armed Opposition Groups get stronger the more erratic Woyanne becomes, their lies are catching up with them now. No amount of repression can stop a popular struggle from winning the hearts and minds of the Ethiopian people. It is high time that the Ethiopian diaspora joined the real struggle that is going on in the fields of Ethiopia instead of engaging with failed political parties who have no connection to the overwhelming majority of Ethiopians who live outside Addis Ababa. That united muscle of EPPF on the ground and the huge Ethiopian diaspora will hasten the demise of Woyanne. That is why Woyanne cadres are doing their best to disorganize the Ethiopian diaspora and render them useless, it is time to wake up and be counted for real.

  5. Close roads? HOW COME?

Some 19 years in power by the sheer force of the guns and genocide. Denying ongoing healthcare services, roads, railways, air transports, sea transports, seaports, good neighbourliness, good education, physical and spiritual securities, freedom from poverty and starvations as well as any form of nominal good governance and semblance of humanism that is dewindling every single day of the year.

WHAT A SHAME OF ALL THE SHAMES? HOW LONG SHOULD THE WRETCHED AND THE IMPOVERISHED GOOD ETHIOPIANS NEED TO SUFFER IN THEIR BRILLIANT AND HISTORIC GOOD COUNTRY?

And now closing roads? Well, that is the last kick of a dying horse. Chest drumming dictator Mengistu tried the same tricks but the wind of inevitable change and social development came and cleaned him from the stage together with all the garbages and toxic wastes.

Think what will happen to Wayane if some 60 million Ethiopians just push them one time with only one small finger? Cemplete demis! Hence strong unity within diversity will surely bring us to the good objective! :)

  6. Woyanes life saving tactics is extending to the country side. That is why it is creating a checkpoint to harass and intimidate the inhabitants of the northern region, except Tigray.
This is a devide and rule system. Tomorrow will do the same in the eastern part of the country afraiding of the somalis.
The cycle will continue to the South and West one after the other.

But this anxiety of or give up hope to rule another 20 yrs makes no sleep.
This panicking will cost Woyane a lot of energy and money that at last it can not manage it at all.
It is a good start Woyane, ride on…
Woyanes, you have no more chance to dine and wine in Addis Ababa, when other regions are searched and humilliated in their own villages.

I predict the worst thing will explode inside the palace suddenly, that does not take long time.

  7. As usual woyannes started their method to win the next election. This is nothing but just intimidating individuals so that people will not vote for any opposition party.

  8. Meles and company made a calculated error in incarcerating this top General. General Tefera will be a rallying point to hundreds of thousands of freedom loving Ethiopians including myself. As you can tell from previous communications, I use to give the government the benefit of the doubt, but now, I am beginning to see the light of what others have been telling me about the ethnic politics in all aspects of life in our country. Perhaps this is what Meles wants: to create a war between the good people of Tigrai and the rest of Ethiopia. This is of course the vision of Esias Afework who engineered this evil road for our country. I strongly advise my country men particularly the true people of Tigrai, not to be fooled by Bereket who says he is from Wollo and Meles who says he is from Tigrai. These two individuals, do care for Eritrea and Sudan not for Ethiopia.

General Tefera is regarded by millions of Ethiopians as a fearless Lion of our country. Millions of Ethiopians adore him and as for me, I salute him and thank him for his courage. The governments action has now pushed millions of moderate Ethiopians to stand shoulder to shoulder with this daring warrior who has refused to be a second class citizen in his own country. He has stood for the sovereignty and integrity of our proud Country. Let us support him in everything we could, during this harsh treatment by tplf goons.

  9. Professor Asrat Woldeyes was arrested in 1992 following an AAPO rally speech in Debre Berhan on the charges of inciting inter-communal violence. That same year Amnesty International declared him a prisoner of conscience, and he was released on bail. Asrat Woldeyes was arrested again in 1993, with four other men, on charges of planning violent attacks against the government. All five were tried and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. Professor Asrat Woldeyes was then sentenced on December 18, 1995 to a three-year imprisonment. After international pressure, the professor was released from prison in December 1998, and allowed to travel to the United States for medical treatment, where he was placed in intensive care in January 1999.Anybody detect any similarity with the news above and Professor Asrat’s activities.History repeats itself.

  10. Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi) may have purposely cut off the only one modern highway to northern Ethiopia built by the Italians during World War II; however, for thousands of years, Ethiopians have always used their awragodena (trail) or their aquarachmenged (short cut road), and they know how to use these trails even though they may not be ideal as the modern highway. Next time, Meles Seitanawi will cut off the telephone lines that run from Addis Ababa to Gojam to Gondar and to some other places. After this, he will cut off the electricity, the water, and completely shut off hospitals and clinic services to paralyze the towns and cities of Gojam and Gondar. When he does this, the Amhara people finally will no longer control their pent up wraths, and they will rise up and deracinate their enemies. I hope such things will never happen, and such blood sheds will never spill in all regions of Ethiopia.

  11. A woman of faith!

A woman of faith once said: “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”

Ethiopia, the mother of millions, has been bleeding to death for many years and has spent a substantial amount of money for political physicians, assuming they would heal her from her internal bleeding: Mengistu Haile Mariam, the political physician, could not heal her; the Derg, the political physician, could not heal her; and Meles Zenawi, the political physician, could not heal her either – they all took her hard-earned money and refused to take responsibilities about her serious illness.

Like that biblical lady who had been bleeding for twelve years and who had spent a huge some of money for the doctors, but the doctors could not heal her, Ethiopia is now desperately looking for someone who is a real doctor, a real healer – a democratically elected leader – who can take care of her illness: her poverty, and the injustices her children are facing every day.

When that biblical lady saw Jesus in the crowd, she pushed her way forward and touched Jesus’ clothes, for she thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed,’ and indeed she was instantly healed by simply touching his clothes (Mark 5:25-29).

Whose clothes should Ethiopia touch so that she could be healed, Meles’ clothes or Aba Paulos’ clothes? They both are unworthy of healing Ethiopia; the biblical lady was healed immediately as soon as she touched Jesus’ clothes because she had put her faith in Jesus Christ; however, Ethiopia could not put her faith in Meles Zenawi to heal her because she knows he cannot heal her for he is a corrupt leader who cannot even heal himself from greed and bloodshed.

When someone in a family suddenly gets ill, the illness of that one person affects the whole family, and it is the responsibilities of the family to take care of the ill person by providing him the best doctor and the doctor prescribing his patient the best medicine so that the patient could easily recover from his life-threatening illness.

As members of the rest of the Ethiopian family, we Ethiopians in the diaspora have been searching for a long time to find the best doctor – ruler – that would heal the internal and the external bleeding of our mother Ethiopia, but we have not come up yet with the best person to heal and govern our country, yet we will not rest until we find, not the quack like Meles Zenawi, but the real doctor, the real healer for our country.

Yes, Ethiopia needs someone who would say to her: ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering’ (Mark 5:34).

We know it is easy and cheap to find a quack doctor, a swindler church leader and a mount bank politician like Meles Zenawi and Aba Paulos to ruin, not to govern our country; of course, we will never recommend any charlatan politician to run our country again. Meles Zenawi will be the last imposter that has ruled our country for almost twenty years. No more quack doctor; no more charlatan healer; and no more shyster politician.

We demand those superb Ethiopian politicians, superb Ethiopian doctors, and the naturally gifted ones to come forward without any delay and become the leaders of our country: We know very well our country is not short of such superb leaders who worked hard to earn their masters and doctoral degrees at home and abroad; some of them are shy, humble, and unknown, and these types of shyness, humbleness, and not to be identified as a great person, a great speaker, a great politician, a great theologian or a great scholar are quite the familiar characteristics of the Ethiopian cultures and traditions.

We should go from door to door, from one university to another university and from Addis Ababa to Washington to London to Paris to Rome and to many other cities, and even to the famous Greek, Egypt, and Ethiopian monasteries to find those highly educated and qualified Ethiopian leaders for our country.

Once we have identified them, located them, and learned about them, then it is up to us to encourage them to come out of their hiding and participate in the Ethiopian general election, win the election, fill all the political offices, and run the country smoothly.

The incentives to attract the superb Ethiopian leaders should not be money, should not be power, and should not be either fame or glory, but it should be pure love of one’s own country, one’s own motherland, one’s own fatherland – Ethiopia.

Of course, to get a person who loves his country and dies for his people may not be easy to find; he may have all the education required to lead an oppressed nation, but he may not have the wisdom, the patience, and above all the love of his people. We do not need such a person to lead our country; we need a person that has the highest education, the highest character and the deepest love of a country.

For thousands of years Ethiopia has never been ruled by any person that holds Ph.D. in any disciplines; it doesn’t mean though that a person with a Ph.D. is a complete guarantee for a good leadership, but it would not hurt if we try this time to put a highly educated person as the prime minister of Ethiopia. Perhaps, this person will stop the bleeding that issues everyday from Ethiopia, the mother of millions.
