Taye Woldesemayat is kicked out of ETA

The Ethiopian Teachers Assocation (ETA) has dismissed its long-time chairman, Dr Taye Woldesemayat last week, according to Addis Dimts Radio reporter in Addis Ababa.

ETA’s 7-member executive committee reportedly made the decision to fire Dr Taye after he failed to communicate with the association’s officials in Addis Ababa for the past several months.

The executive committee also said that Dr Taye has failed to heed the association’s rule that prevents its officials from aligning themselves with any political party.

Dr Taye has also failed to report to the executive committee any material and other kinds of assistance he was getting for the ETA from sister organizations around the world, Addis Dimts reporters said.

Addis Dimts radio’s host Abebe Belew had invited Dr Taye to respond, but he refused complaining that the media in Washington DC are biased.

  1. Dr. Taye is a looser in every asspect. He lost his respect when he joined the Shalequa Yoseph THUGS and he lost credebility among his former comrades

Dr Taye need to be taken to urgent Rehab Center this man is a power monger moron

  2. We, Ethiopians are cursed to bite each other. Why so many of us are turning the good hope into a bad and nightmare situations? Are we as an individual being cornered and pushed to the side by our own action or by situations that are not handled wisely to solve arising problems and come out of that to preserve our public conception of good figure for good work? Or, are we knowingly caught at cheating others we supposedly serving for? The time we are in is confusing so the people who are in this peaceful struggle for democracy and freedom must be wise on handling arising problems and solve them in good faith. May God help us to clean our minds and give us good hearts so we can help the poor and the helpless!

  3. Yesterday we marched in support of Dr. Taye.
Today some are busy tarnishing an image of the true,
tested and proven person. Shame on you ! keep riding your Trojan horse.

  4. I don’t understand why Elias is mad at this hero, Dr.Taye. Dr.Taye fought woyane alone years back when even some of the CUD leaders were in the woyane camp.

Taye is a strong man. He could have played a posetive role towards strengthening CUD if properly used.

What a misfortune for US! Among others Elias seems to be hanting this man down to death in every opportunity he gets.

    Shame on us!

  5. Dear all,

Let us make a limit on our critics. Some of the critics are so harsh. They are just insults. We have to criticize each other in a constructive way rather than choosing the destructive one. It will not help us cornering some one.

Above all, we have to give value for our Ethiopian blood. We don’t have to insult each other to oppose Ono’s idea or a person. We can oppose the idea or the person in a respectful and proper way.

    Regards,

  6. Dr. Taye has been known to use any organazition power for his financial gain. Some of us we new for last two years his intention to go abroad collect money and creat income for himself. We would not be sirprise his attempt to take over CUDP. As saying “giem le giem abrhe azigme” He smell a lots of money around Shaleqa groups. So he wants to take power abroad where the money is comming easy….Of course, surprise for all of us he wants to take power the political organization he does not even support privatization. He was a hidden communist party member all alone (Old EPRP) let organize International former Comministe loseers. I am sure when he asked ETA’s money, he will tell us he donate for shaleqas group.

  7. what a devil got this patriotic ,articulated individual
I really admirered dr.for his long time, selfless struggle ,but couldn’t believe what’s going on with him right now.I think things go bad for him after he started assocating himself with this “agases shaleka.”

For Dr Taye:speak up, it is not too late ,let us know what you are thinking, you still have a pool of admirers/supporter,including if you have to,
    apologize

  8. I was stunned when I heard that the courageous and articulate Dr. Taye has joined the disastrous and inept Shaleka faction. In my view, it was the biggest miscalculation of his life. I know he is a smart man and I hope and pray that he will quickly disassociate himself from that corrupt and lethargic group and rehabilitate himself. Frankly he is too good to be lost mired in scandal not of his own making. I hope he will correct his missteps and distance himself from the disaster that was KIC. I am sure we all appreciate his solo fight with the TPLF and years of service and all will be forgiven in no time.

    Regards,

    Surafel

  9. Ethiopia is a the only country in the world where you can not do what your gut tells you. Especially if you are a public figure, you need to think 1000x before you make any political decision. Because your feelings shouldn’t contradict the majority even if your thought is outstanding. The diaspora is out of control, blindly critisizing everything. WHY????

    Geremegn

  10. What would have been the level of criticsm against Dr. Taye, had he joined the now dissolved KIL?. May be not the same way at the very least.

If the CUD Exectutive leadership had not been out from Kality, the signs of KIL/atleast as confirmed by Ato Andargachew Tsege, in refusing to accept the directive did not promise to head to the expected proper direction. In general, people or KIC’s side do not seem to have a similar culture of attacking, character assasination, open and bitter hostility. At this point, too much of the Shaleka’s or Dr. Taye’s story is short selling WHAT EVER GOOD KIL has accomplished.

To an objective observer, if two opposing factions share common principles, country and leaders and their most out standing COMMON factor in this case is winning over the regime, to OVER EXHAUST the same topics of DIFFERENCES through character assasination could be a sign of the regime’s infliteration, another behind the scene force, or a goal which suddenly got aborted due to the release of the prisoners.

Right when KIl is about to get its due credit, a nagging character assasination against members of KIC repeatedly shows up. The energy and attention seem to get diverted in spinning at a critical time, and in this case before the Executive leadership arrives.

  11. You know now a days I am going to believe that most of ethiopians are lunatic. Otherwise there is no need for all this “mechuachuah.” Live alone Taye and watch the outcome when the CUD leaders come and visit the US.

Why do we rush to distroy our selves? Or are we just imatured and morons that just like to bite everyone that works for us? Where is our civility? How could someone could be courageously lead us when we are the number one enemies of our leaders, even worse than our enemies?

Please give time for everything: and wait and see.

  12. I just can’t believe all the hatred and insult I read on this topic. You can’t bring much change for Ethiopia while attacking each other like this. Constant bickering will not solve any problem. You can support anybody you choose to support but you should not attack someone because they do not agree with you on a given topic.

    Where is the Ethiopiawinet respect?

If you are writing about facts why are you guys hiding behind 2ed and 3rd names?

  13. Elias!

Do you have a brain? please think before you post about individuals. Do you grow with a family? Please learn a little respect. You are entitled to oppose people idea but you don’t have right to insult people.
You insultt Dr Brihanu and now you turn your face to Dr. Taye? How about your friend Ledetu and other ?

PLEASE LEAVE HIM ALONE FOR THE GOD SAKE!

  14. yes, Shimelis I agree you are wright. We know what is going in Mellborne. The fack EPRP is not better than woyane. Both are distructives. see you

  15. Dear Elias:

I’d not say that you are becoming a horse of Lucifer or slave of satan,,,,,,but if you keep on spitting out like one, then I can’t help it. I would wish you acted otherwise. Please live your life honorably, sacrificing yourself for peace and truly, truly being honest to your people….. You are hell-bent to bring down the name of Dr Taye….but his legacy is instilled in people’s mind and it is next to impossible to erase that….

I believe that you insulted all of us Ethiopians because you thought that we would just be blown away with every wind that comes in our way….

We are grounded now and can see the truth…..

Please stop …you are angering me….

    You

  16. “Bewodekew zaf misar yibezabetal” Can we think twice before we say once? Did any body have any question on this man’s integraty before this news came up? Can we ask Why,how and so before we cast sharp arrow of division and cleavge among us? Do we hasve sense of learning and correcting our selves before we are hurried to throw a sharp dagger to damage us as the citizens of our nationEthiopia. Why don’t we give a chance for fact finding? Please we need to know that ” Keaf yewotaw afaf”. When time of reality comes, we will be ashemed. May God bless us all.

  17. Dear Ethiopians!
Let us not engage in counterproductive and controversial isues when we have the most imprtant issues, like Ethiopians being massacred right now, Ethiopians thrown to jails for more than a decade in Woyane horror cells, the lack of freedom, absence of democracy, and so on, to debate about and take common stand. May I take the liberty to question the significance of the contribution of the critic of Professor Taye Woldesemayat to the struggle of the people of Ethiopia visa vis the heroic struggle and sacrifice made by Dr. Taye? When do we understand to read and be satisfied with the efforts of iconic leaders like Taye before we engage ourselves to destructive role of villifying and tarnishing the reputaion of such personalities? Don’t we need to balance the good sides against the weakness of such personalities and be appreciative of for the efforts made with good intentions? Villifying is the immense contribution of Ethiopians is the culture of unenlightened people like the Woyane gagns who think that they are the only people who can understand and solve the problems of Ethiopia. So, dear Ethiopians, particularly ethiopian review editors, let us shift our attention on issues that are constructive and helpful for the struggle of the people of Ethiopia.
    Thanks.

  18. Who labeled the CUDP leaders as a CIA agents and also campaigned against CUD during 2005 election?
Why Dr. taye came through the back door to lead the party He used to hate ? IS He trying to protect the CUDP from the real leaders?

  19. Dear Dr. Taye

I know you are the real being who is able to anticipate and make a genuine decison in regard to the debilitated, disowned and demeaned Ethiopian population by the dingy woyane regime. You are one among the assets of Ethiopia.

Once again, I know that you won’t pay attention to small minds who are products of woyane culture.

Dear Editor: Are you fighting the devil in Addis or commence to colaborate the devil like Solomon Tekalegn?

No matter what attitude you possess to Dr. Taye, you are not suppose to display his name for woyane rabish and futile individuals to use invective language.

Please let us be a real and natural being and start to think, think and think.

  20. You all. Sometimes the people in power are by far better than the so called DIASPORA. You see what they are doing they are selective in making some one a memeber then what ever problem is created by the memeber they are not the one to blame him or her. They try to cover the problem created by their memebers for long period of time then if the problem persists they will completely reject or put their members in jail these are their last decision. But when it comes to other opposition like the people who are enjoying in US you all support and put somebody to the TOP and again put them back to the BOTTOM immediately. First of all all of you who are living their and complaining by your MOUSE ONLY strategy have got no moral to say something about the situation in ethiopia.
One last thing to say for all of you there pleace wake up and go to your work the DISH plates are waiting for you to be cleaned. For those Ethiopians who are putting someone up today and some one down tomorrow the best solution is to bring Theodros the II back and he will cut your Tongue or May be our hero Mengistu might be the best solution (By the way most of the shouters were almost part of the prevoius government they kept silent and eat the meat and blood of ethiopians for the past 17 years like the memebers of this government are doing now. So ALL of you at the Dispora you saturate yourself interms of MONEY,EDUCATION, and other important needs and now you are separating idea every person and you want to laugh sitting on the grave of poor ethiopians. By the way were have you been when Ethiopians died and are dieing because of hunger, lack of water,Medication,Education, governance, and other basic needs. Do you think barking from US or Europe help the needy ethiopians? Tell me what did you do to save a single life in Ethiopia than barking here? Please either keep silent or be practical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. We, Ethiopians, are cursed to bite at each other. Why so many of us are turning the good hope into a bad and nightmare situations? Are we, as an individual or group, being cornered and pushed to the side by our own irresponsible actions or by situations that are not handled wisely to solve arising problems and come out of that to preserve our public conception of good figure for good work? Or, are we knowingly caught up on cheating others we supposedly serving for? The time we are in is confusing and troubling. For those who are acting in the name of this peaceful struggle for democracy and freedom, it is high time to be wise on handling arising problems and solve them in good faith. Honesty and integrity must be our foundation for the struggle we all are standing for!

People who do not make mistakes must be those who are not virtually working at all! But the difference between mistakes and wrong doings must be judged against by those who are at work without transparency and accountability for their action at the same time. When problems arise within a party or between assigned personnel’s who are at work, an investigative team must be assigned by the Party itself and that team must act utmost effort to stand in good public faith. Personal defamation and attack by any person or group against others, other than the party itself to announcing the problem and informing the public as it is being handled through party channels, first and for most serves the party adversely.

Any public communication channels, such as pro democracy websites, should not necessarily be hungry for bad news. Any one in any allegation must be innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. Until then, these pro democracy websites must restrain themselves from campaigning against the alleged criminal or wrong doers.

If there is a problem within one a party, then the party must act quickly and swiftly to show the public or its supporters where that problem exists and who is responsible for it to happen.

If the action taking or reaction to show by the party is taking too much time, the effect of that controversy goes way up and may tarnish many credibility’s until the possible reverse becomes almost impossible. The case in point is the problem of Kinijit support group in North America. It is hurting the party by the day because the problem is not being handled properly and timely. As the public are overwhelmingly being informed or ‘may be misinformed for that matter, about the corruption by some support group that comes mainly through some pro democracy website news, like Ethiopian Review as a strong campaigner against this alleged corrupt individuals with disclosure of some by some names as money launderers, there is still no reaction from the official Kinijit Party leadership to condemn or to discredit this. It is very important the Party clears this confusion on time and inform its supporters as to where the problem and the responsibility exist.

May God help us to clean our doubts and give us good hearts to come out of problems like this so we can maintain our unity, even within one party which is not hard to do, to build democracy and help the helpless in Ethiopia!

  22. We may not be happy with Dr. Taye’s decision but we should respect his political freedom to join any party or group he thinks might accommodate his political views. He can even join EPDRF if he thinks that’s the way to go. We need to change our culture when it comes to politics. Our country’s political problems are so complex and require a set of complex solutions. CUD leaders made good decision to end their political rivalary with the existing government and work toward building a true democratic and free society. It might seem a bitter pill to swallow to some people unfortunately that is the only way we can stop further bloodshed in that country. In the upcoming millennium we all Ethiopians need make concerted effort to bring political stability and sustainable economic growth in our country. We need to end the deadlock between Eritrea and Ethiopia. We also need invite OLF and others to participate in our struggle in fighting poverty.

  23. Dear poor abebe . I know that Dr. Taye is Your hero, your alfa and omega and your man with all rounded of personality. unfortunately, HE IS ”YETESEKELE AWERDE BELA YEBEBTAWAN ATSACH””

  24. Taye got what he deserved. Nobody questions his sacrifice. But that does not give him the authority to take over an organization that he opposed and crudly bad mouthed. He is an opportunist. It is clear that he put his integrity into question by taking over the leadership of an organization that does not share his principles. After all we found out he has no principles.

I am so glad he lost it all and now he has to work like us all. Good riddence!

  25. Rich Ababiyaa:

I wish you the best of everything in life. Does it hurt you if I lift up Dr Taye or even Meles Zenawi for the positive things that they do instead of being busybodies like you and me on just people’s life? I hope it does not..

For me every true Ethiopian who works hard to bring a long lasting positive impact is a hero….and Taye is one..I know he is not perfect just like you and me aren’t….

    God bless you
