WASHINGTON — Senator Jim Inhofe is scheduled to visit five African countries this week, including ones he’s been to numerous times in the past 10 years.
Inhofe, Republican from the State of Oklahoma, was in Afghanistan earlier this week and is scheduled to go to Ghana, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Djibouti and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Inhofe has been to Africa at least 20 times in the past 10 years.
He has described his trips to Africa as “a Jesus thing,” in which he meets with African leaders in a spiritual context, although he told The Oklahoman he also pursues humanitarian and national security causes on his taxpayer-funded visits. He last went to Africa in December. That trip also included a stop in Ethiopia.
Inhofe spokesman Matt Dempsey said Inhofe “is once again focused on his work as a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.”
EDITOR’S NOTE: Senator Inhofe is in the pockets of DLP Piper lobbyists who receive $50,000 per month from Ethiopia’s dictator to lobby U.S. congressmen. Last year, he was instrumental in blocking the “Ethiopia Freedom, Democracy, and Human Rights Advancement Act” in the Senate after it unanimously passed in the House.

One of the most corrupt religious bigots there is, and one of the major causes of current ills in Ethiopia and the horn of Africa as a whole.
what is this rat doing there? I think there is too much scrutiny here in US for corruption since Obama Administration took over. Therefore, this low moral and corrupt and married with dictator is sniffing around if he can scoop some money from his dictator clients. I am sure he is venturing around for more money if he continue to lobby for them.
I think the Obama Administration need to keep an eye on such sworn lobbyist that married to dictators.
Thanks God, It is time for democrats.
I have an advice for my Ethiopian brothers and sisters; don’t get fooled into believing that one political party is different from the other when it comes to US foreign policy. Both the Republicans and Democrats follow the same foreign policy, the only difference is the name and the language they might use depending on the situation, otherwise the US foreign policy stays the same.
You will not see any significant change in US foreign policy towards Ethiopia, what the US really cares about is having a client regime no matter what political party is in charge of the white house.
When a regime is so unpopular in their own country the US foreign policy establishment doesn’t hesitate to throw the puppet ruler that served them loyally overboard and destroy him/her with propaganda. I think in Ethiopia they are hedging their bets by carefully orchestrating a cosmetic regime change in 2010. Unless the MLLT leadership is stupid enough to repeat the May 2005 debacle, the replacement to Melles is already being groomed in the person of Gebru and/or Siye, that way both sides will be happy with the arrangement, MLLT will stay in power, the gullible in the Ethiopian diaspora will be placated and of course they will have managed to fool the rest of the world into believing that democracy has prevailed in Ethiopia.
So please don’t overlook or denegrate Sen. Inhoffe, he is playing his role perfectly, all he cares about is having a puppet regime that is repsonsive to US needs and priorities and he is working hard to keep it that way.
