World Economic Forum ranks Ethiopia 123rd out of 128 countries

Ethiopia under the corrupt dictatorship of Meles Zenawi ranks 123rd out of 128 countries in economic competitiveness, according to a report released by the World Economic Forum’s 2007 report. No matter how much the state-controlled media talk about fake progress, the facts outlined in the report indicate that Ethiopia’s economy is growing backward. The only thing that is expanding in Ethiopia is Meles Zenawi’s pocket.

  1. you said “corrupt dictatorship of Meles Zenawi ” but when we look at it specifically on page 2, the two key figures related to corruption is where Meles is doing good.
    – Diversion of public funds
    – Public trust of politicians

on first part ethiopia is ranked 69th out of 128 countries. in second matter, ethiopia is ranked 73rd out of 128.

an even on ethiopian poll, only 7% of poll did on ethiopia in this page said “corruption” as their problem.

so why are you calling Meles corrupt??

next, GDP per capita evaluates growth and also related to population since you average it.
ethiopia is one of the fastest growing population, but it is still increasing in GDP per a capita. Mr.Elias can you explain why this miracle is happening even when ethiopia is one of the fastest growing population?? GDP per capita has gone from 500 under your friend mengistu haile mariam, to 1050 under meles zenawi. why? since we are going backward and since population is exploding shouldn’t our GDP per capita be 250 only?

lastly, the figure forgot GDP overall. the last report said ethiopia is third fastest GDP (Whole) in africa. why is this?? because we are going backward??

    .

  2. What happened to the 10% growth rate Meles’ deplomats tried to preach us? 10% economic growth or decay rate? 123rd out of 128 countries? Even the dergue did better than that fighting multiple rebels including TPLF, EPLF, ONLF, and OLF without the millions of dollars and euros Meles is getting in forms of AID and loans!

There are all the reasons to oppose this gangs in TPLF and I just can’t find no reason to support them!! Ethnic loyality will only blind us and lead us to our destruction!! Meles supporters better open your eyes!!!

  3. Overall with all negative related campaigns including brain drain the performance of the government is not as bad as the previous governments.

Yes, a lot is required to be done but the pace can get it’s moment with the direct involvement of the educated and concerned Ethiopians from all over the world.

    Peace

  4. Ante yehager asedabi- Yohaness IV (#1 writer), you are trying to cheat us while the overall figures appeal to confirm Ethiopia is performing bad. You are pin pointing two numbers (1)diversion of public funds and (2)public trust of politicians as an indicator of good governance which is free from corruption.

I am, however, convinced that unethical supporters of this regime including “end ante aynetu hodam” are contributing for better scoring in the latter point. As to corruption, ours is 7% but for low income countries and African is nearly 4%. Is that the thing that you are proud of? shameless citizen!!

Secondly, the GDP is written in PPP. If you converted to real amount, it becomes 167 dollar. Taking a massive Donner’s loan in to account, are we growing and safeguard your justification on corruption and economic growth? Laba hula…

Have you seen the graph for GDP carefully? The gap between Africa and our nation during Derg was narrow as compared to this regime. What does this tell rather than looking to the real figure. “Yeh aynetu matalel megenagna lelalew Ethiopians neger, ayalew mognu…”

please, open your eyes!!!!!!!! or go to Minilik hospital.
