She could not shape her standing against the worrior in a smart way. That is living either as ordinary people or joining EPPF/Ginbot 7. Ethiopians wanted her to be critical rather than useless people like Beyene or Merara or others.
ha ha haha.. I was expecting to see flag bearing people such as ephrem Madebo, Abreha Belay, Abay Media Editor, Abebe Gelaw…etc with birtukan’s picture on their hands.
All of the above personalities and vocal birtukan supportors couldn’t do nothing except biting their lips. This shows how Birtukan’s popularity went to the drain. She is now forgotten
What is disturbing in all this TPLF drama is that –
– We have Teddy Afro the real hero who is in jail – because he believes in Ethiopia and did something about it.
And now we have this hopless – moron – Birtukan Medikssa – wanting to be a hero with out doning nothing except appeasing a tyrannt. And Siyiemedia and Abugida wanted us to sing their song by forgetting Teddy the real hero.
TPLf gangsters move is a response to EPPF effert to organized Ethipians in diaspora. TPLF gangsters are trying to convert Birtukan into a hero for a short period of time and make Ethiopians in diaspora to rally behind Birtukan. Already United State is issuing a statement saying they are concern about the arest. When Ethiopians hope is reached to a certain level they will crash it by saing that she reapolegies and asked for pardon or release Teddy and hope Ethiopians forget about here. For a short time it will work in discouraging people from organizing them selves in support of EPPF because divide and rule is the only formula TPLF gangster know. In a long run it will bring Ethiopians around EPPF because TPLF gangsters they don’t control EPPF and the policy of EPPF will not be influenced by intimidation and fear. They can’t arest, free, and rearest EPPF fighters and its leadership. Two years a go before the invasion of Somalia by TPLF gangsters and thier agazi buthers President Issaias said that “It is the responsibility of our brothers and sisters of the somali people to put thier house under order”. Unless the people of Ethiopia stund up and organised them selves Weyane will continue the unjustice crimes against the people of Ethiopia.
Do you think that you are helping the struggle against Woyane by being engaged in condemning the path of struggle some parties have chosen? I think no! Be it Andinet, or Birtukan or Prof Mesfin or anybody else for that matter, they are fighting against Woyane in their own way, and your way is sitting at a computer in the Western hemsphere and playing with electronic media. These are two different playing fields. You can’t be them and they can’t be you. I advise you to support them when you can, not to criminalize them. It is absurd to do so! If you continue doing this type of journalism, like the Woyanes, you would get your share of the punch from many corners. May be you have started to see that already.
Recently, you have been challenged by Ato Gizaw on Ethiopian Television Network (BEGINBAR)as regards your attitude towards those who have chosen peaceful struggle. The OLF, ONLF, Ginbot 7 and etc are doing their share of the struggle. That alone is bare empty. I thought you have learned few lessons from that interfiew. I agree on few points you raised then too, but not most of what you said.
Struggle has different forms. One of them is peaceful form. As a media website, you have to promote all forms of struggle so long as they all fighting against a common enemy. If you think that prof Mesfin should go to the battle field to fight Woyane with arms while you and I are sitting to enjoy our hot Oat meals, burgers and the Abesh Kitfo breathing the Western democracy, you would get it absolutely wrong. This doesn’t mean that those who can afford shouldn’t fight nor those who have chosen peaceful way are always right.
The bottom line is that you need to give fair treatment for the cause of Andinetr, Judge Birtukan sacrifice, Teddy’s cause etc, looked at in the context media professionalism, not just in the context of your own political angle of deviation.
My I call on you to help promote the part palyed by everyone who works for liberating the Ethiopian people from the rule of the tyranny of Meles.
Your statement holds water if you consistently apply
the same rule for all opposition parties without exception.
You can not have it both ways. What is the difference
between Lidetu’s party and Burtukan’s party? I think
you can not reply it clearly, since none of Birtuke’s
supporters have clarity.
Admit that Lidetu (Ethiopia’s Mandela during the heydays of
CUD) has clarity unlike other opposition parties who are
simply hot air “activist”. You better bow to Lidetu rather
than the doll who does not know anything about Ethiopian
politics.
My earlier comments were for the Editor. Are you the Editor?
If you are, I advise you to read my original comment again, as I don’t think that you understood them clearly. Yes, I am the one who apply the same rule. You rather play a game of exclusion!!
We are not discussing about the merits and demerits of political opposition groups, be it Lidetu or anybody else. My point is let the people of Ethiopian given opportunity to have a say on who they support, who these politicians are, but not you and I passing our verdicts on them from our solitary confinement. They are the ones who live with the population and pay sacrifice on daily basis. You are talking about political correctness, for which you have no yard stick to measure. All political parties, fronts, groups and etc have their own weaknesses as they have strengths. Ask yourself, who are we to judge them from within our own individual wrold-view?
For example, I get a lot messages where they label you as an Eritrean-Melese agent. Did I buy that? May be not, but the reason why they say that it is because of some of the “facts” that you publish on your website such as your “… man of the year …”, your support for groups that other people think are enemies of Ethiopia, absence of objectivity in your reproting, and your partisan approach towards journalism as you seem to lean towards groups that you find yourself refuge under.
Again, my advise to you is not to be bothered about whether my ideas hold water or not. As a media person, be objective, refrain from criminalizing Heroes and Heroine that most people take as Icons, stop defamation and being an echo chamber of yourself. Credit some how individual and group effort in the struggle against Melese. I for example credit you for allowing people to exchange views on your website, like I have done in the past myself.
I thought ER publisher had good intention, talented and resourceful with meaningful contributions to make. I defended his rights in several contexts against critics who see Elias as a singular crusader missionary.
But, I have begun to see that some of the criticisms are well-justified-ER and its publisher go beyond a mere contribution to providing the final ‘sermons’ of the ‘absolute truth’ as seen from one side. I think this is a dangerous position to take.
As Ayan stated, ER should listen to the voice of reasons:
”Struggle has different forms. This doesn’t mean that those who can afford shouldn’t fight nor those who have chosen peaceful way are always right.”
Labeling Judge Birtukan Midekssa as a woyane agent is the most twisted argument to forward.
It is also tactically/strategically wrong to antagonize those who are within the opposition framework even if one does not agree with their specific programs.
So, I appeal to ER/Ato Elias Kifle to pause and redirect your known skills and resources to the real target-TPLF/EPRDF repressive regime of Meles Zenawi.
Not doing so will lose you real and potential friends like myself!!
My apology, I thought that you were arguing in defense of
UDJ’s leadership rather expressing your thought in general term for all the oppositions. Yet these UDJ’s/AEUP’s leaders are paying the price, even less, for their role in the defamation of other opposition parties who are pursuing peaceful struggle and armed struggle. They deserve more ridiculing, no regret for that.
Elias’s position is clear, no compromise with EPDRF which is
far from my position. Clarity is the essense, be it peaceful like Lidetu or by any means like ONLF/OLF.
No need to lump my or any guest’s comment on Elias.
