Woyanne troops gun down 48 civilians in Ogaden

ONLF Statement on Massacre in Mooyaha Village, Ogaden

The Woyanne army in Ethiopia has carried out a wanton massacre in the village of Mooyaha near the town of Ararso 50 Km north west of Dagahbur, Ogaden on the 17th of December 2008.

The Woyanne troops rounded up the villagers and started gunning them down indiscriminately. Forty eight civilians mostly comprised of children, women and elderly died on the spot and at least fifty are gravely wounded.

There were no ONLF forces in the area to justify an attack on the village making this a deliberate and planned massacre. On the same day, the Woyanne army also killed six civilians in Galalshe town near Fik.

The Woyanne troops have now sealed off the area and are preventing surrounding communities from coming to aid their compatriots with the wounded and to bury the dead. They are working hard to eliminate the evidence of this massacre.

The ONLF believes this is the beginning of a new round of genocide in the Ogaden where there has been an increase civilian attacks by the Woyanne regime, including attacks using helicopter gunships against civilian targets.

The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) calls upon the United Nations to send an urgent mission to the village and investigate this massacre while providing necessary aid to the remaining survivors.

Furthermore, the ONLF calls upon the Security Council to hold the Ethiopian regime of Meles Zenawi accountable for its crimes against Humanity and Genocide in Ogaden.

The ONLF is once again informing the world that Genocide continues in Ogaden and further delays in a direct international intervention will result in the continued loss of innocent civilian lives.

  1. Where is the outcry, demonstrations, and support for fellow Ogadenians? Don’t we care the same way we cared for Teddy? What does Ethiopian unity mean to us? I detect a bit of a fallacy in all these. I believe a deep soul searching is in order here.

  2. Oh lord have mercy and may the almighty god punish those who are taken orders from the filthy mouth, child killer, and sophisticated modern slaves of the horn of Africa Legesse Zenawi, Azeb Mesfin, Seyoum Mesfin, the Eritrean traitor/advisor Mebrahtu G/hiwot (aka Bereket Simon), and the rest of weyane gangs.

  3. Ato Dagnew, exactlly, you have seen the paining spot on our Ethiopia’s body which most of our educated peoples do not want to say or to hear. Weather we like or not we cannot stand as a nation without each others. If we don’t cry for each other, then what the meaning of Ethiopia ? Today if we look at it carefully and deeply, our country is near to collapse. History repeats it’s self, the religous wave which has rocked and destroyed our country 500 years ago is now going to come back again. The Alshabab in Somalia has already started destroying any symbolic including christian graves which does not coresponds with Islam. There is no doubt that it will going to atract our Muslims in Ethiopia. So if we don’t stand together as a one nation, our island/daset, country will be washed away in to the extremists ocean.

  4. Belanbel,I think you misunderstood the subject matter. The topic is The Woyanne army massacring and engagind a wholesale slaughter in Ogaden(in Ethiopia and now)Why are you going back to 500 years ago?I found your comment to be cruel joke and irrelevent. The Shababs are very brave Somalis who are defending their country from Meles and his mercenary army and they have every right under the sun to do so.They are not threat to Ethiopia bu it`s the TPLF that`s a threat to everyone in the horn of Africa. If you care about Ethiopia, you should be more respectful for all of Ethiopians-including Muslim Ogadenis. The worst enemy of a united Ethiopia is Meles and people like you would never miss a chance to express their anti-Islamic feelings.

  5. I think Belanbel is not serious. At the maximum he is just acting as a distraction. What I suggest is that we should show a well organized opposition to this massacre and make this known to the world in a more bitterness and devotion than we showed sympathy to Tedy’s arrest. This is the test of our unity, our test of belief that the Somali, the Oromo, the Amhara… peoples true owners of Ethiopia that have equal rights, privileges etc… We should guard ourself against ideas that try breed mistrust among people, overcome the divide and rule age old but effective enemy weapon, and unite to fight our common foe even when we have differences.

  6. Haji Qoraxey, all what do not suit with your idea will be classfied with Meles or anti-Islamic element, isn’t it ? I as a Muslim Ethiopian, i oppose the extremism of our religion Islam. you are short sighted.

  7. Aldin,I`m against extremism and the deliberate and systematic killing that`s taking place in Ogaden.I don`t see where you disagreed me and agreed with this Belambel extremist who justified Meles` massacre in Ogaden. You claim to be a Muslim Ethiopian:What`s your take of The TPLF`s actions in Ogaden and elsewhere in the Horn of Africa? You seem to fit the description of the Ethiopian Muslims of Ato Belanbel. Those who need an adult supervision.

  8. over 1700 somali men young and old round up in addis this shows meles is not going to sleep b/c he went to somali to commit genoside and he did it and he is killing ogadenis in thousands so agazis you will pay the price no matter where youare
