Former prime minister of Ethiopia Tamrat Layne freed

ETV reported today that the Woyanne dictatorship in Ethiopia has freed former prime minister and defense minister Tamrat Layne from jail after 12 years of incarceration.

Tamrat was thrown in jail by his friend Meles Zenawi accusing him of corruption. The main reason for Tamrat’s fall, however, is that he had started challenging the Meles crime family, on some issues. As far as corruption is concerned, the entire {www:Woyanne} mafia is corrupt. In the past 17 years they have amassed incredible amount of wealth by looting Ethiopia’s national treasure.

  1. Here we go,
Let’s not jump and call him a hero now, just like Siye. He is it still a Criminal responsible for many mistreatment and abuse of the Ethiopian people.

  2. How about the thousands who were picked up from the streets and thrown in jail for just being Ethiopians in 2005–when are they going to be released? Some of these people who were thrown in jail came to Addis to look for a job. I know this for sure because one of these people who were picked-up and thrown in jail that day happened to be our relatives. He was able to get out of jail because he had family in Addis but for those who do not have any acquaintances in Addis still rotting in jail and may be dead. Their parents in the country-side who do not have access to the city must be wondering what ever happened to their children and worried to death. We must stand and fight for all innocent victims not only to the well known and connected.
How I wish the international community investigate Meles, his wife and their woyanne friends how they became multi milliners in a short time while the majority Ethiopians begging the world to feed them. For the coming year I wish Meles and his loved ones to experience all the misery he has caused others. I wish Misery X-Mass to Meles and his friends!!!

  3. What does ‘he is still a criminal mean’? Once a criminal always a criminal? Is this where you are leading us to, Betelhiem?
Who among us can say,’i have never committed a crime’? and hence ,’i am not a criminal’?
We should learn to forgive as long as people own their crimes and make up for it.

  4. The Agazzi Tribal Junta are in the habit of manufacturing news to divert attention of the public. Disinformation and misinformation are the trade marks of the Agazzi propaganda Tsar, Bereket Simon. Now, that the Teddy Afro soap opera shelf life had ended, a new one is released to fill the vacuum and Tamrat seems to be the perfect fit.

  5. Come on Elias! Tamrat had never challenged the Meles crime family as he was among them. He might do something bad to Meles not for the benefit of Ethiopia. He was/is one of the Enemy of Ethiopia. Don’t forget what he did in southern Ethiopia.

  6. Blen, I feel sorry for you to go through this sadness at your young age–you and your sister are just kids who shouldn’t be subjected to this kind of situation.

But, there are many little girls and boys whose father’s were thrown to Meles’s jail before and after your dad was put to prison and they are still suffering in jail. The children are left crying along with their poor mothers. Your mom had money and means to leave Ethiopia and live in rich and free country so she is able to raise you well. But, those children suffered and are still suffering because their dads have been taken away from them by your dad’s friend.

Now, your dad is realsed and you and your family will be united again. Do you think you can also write to your dad’s friend to realse the innocent and poor fathers that he locked up in jail?

He locked them up for speaking against what the bad things he is doing against the Ethiopian people, for being on the street to listen to others speak or even simply they were walking to their school, work or home.

I know you are just a kid, but kids who are growing up in developed and rich countries can do wonders.

  7. How can we forgive and forget Tamirat Layine’s crime ? Even if he spend 100 years in jail, he can not be forgiven for what he did to Ethiopians in particular Oromos. Have you ever read the paper he circulate before he went jail ? All wayane’s program that to make Ethiopians starve and let the people summit to wayane was planned by Tamirat Layine and the plan still working for Meles.

  8. Seyoum,
I believe the amount time he spent in Jail is for stealing from his own groups of bandas. He still has to answer for all the pain and suffering many Ethiopians are going through. He was part of the government that is responsible for mass killing our innocent people. So my question for you is how can forgive and forget what was done to Ethiopia? How can you just forgive the killing of many Ethiopian just because they belonged to a certain ethnic group? How can you forgive the starvation of many when Meles and this Criminal you are defending did nothing? Tell me, How can you forgive the killing of 193 innocent people for practicing their right to elect their leaders? so please do not tell me to take Tamerat as victim of meles regime because he was part of it.

  9. It’s good that he’s released, but he’s to pay back the 70 million Birr that he has secured through corruption(?).

He should also beg all the Amharas whom he had traded dirty politics with Woyanne officials.Do you remember how he disparaged the late professor Asrat and Co? He described them as pickers of the crumbs of the Feudal lords.

He’s also the founder of the ANDOM, the satellite party for Woyane. The two parties are the ones who put our people to unperalled oppression.
    Have a great day!

  10. Tamerat still needs to get a death penality for the crime he commited along with the entire members of weyane.

but how about the entire people of ethiopia who are in jail under the weyane regime now, when are they going to be freed from jail?

yes, there is one answer for this the ethiopian people will be freed when we get rid of the weyane criminal groups from ethiopia

well, weyane would’ve been gone by now if the moron hailu shawel and the idiot power and money mongers of EPRP retiree groups did not kill the struggle.

Now inorder to free the entire ethiopian people from jail lets all work against weyane by at least supporting best political parties like Ginbot 7.

Time to answer our obligations to Ginbot 7.

Ethiopians will be free from weyane soon

    death to all weyanes

  11. Tamirat Lyne freed? Well, that might sound Okay, but how about his horondous record of promoting the tribal regime/policy of Melese Zenawi before he went to jail. The jail term cannot and will not cancel out the crime he perpertrated/commited while in power. We all remember what he used to say on his speeches (Yewega biresa, yetewega ayresam! Tame). He reaped what he deserved. Unfortunately, his tormentors are also our tormentors.

    Justice to all Ethiopians.

  12. It is sad to read all these comments about someone whose sins are no worse than his critiques who shamelessly have the courage to say many things about him. We all are ‘Ye zinjero konjo’, just fooling ourselves.

  13. Tamrat Layne, one of the responsible persons for the murder of thousands of Ethiopians at least should apologize publicly, for the victims’ families. Until he was put in jail for making Eritreans who live under dual citizenship status in Ethiopia uncomfortable, he was part and parcel of the TPLF authoritarian regime. Meles Zenawi used Tamrat Layne as a condom and throws him in the trash bin. This is what other TPLF collaborators will face sooner or latter.

  14. I would like to call him, crime minister and death minister Tamrat Layne, can you believe him he is now a religious person I am sure he will be a Pente or protestant like Birtukan Midekisa I personally do not think a protestant person will have good and patriotic feeling toward Ethiopia just like Birtukan. She is a convert to protestant that is why she is a wobbling charactor in the Ethiopian political movement. By the way if you want to know when the protestant religion started read any history book it will tell you it was a late comer religion it was created on the 16th century which is after 1500 years of Christ burth, the Protestant was created for the first time by a Catholic German monk Luther how the protestant became large it is simple thing to understand they have the money and they will terrorize people even by going their house and knocking their door so if anyone thinks it is an old and original religion just read history it will tell yo,u the term protestant itself is derivative word from protest protestantsim is also called religious refomation.

  15. This is the only article about this story that i feel is the truth. I read everywhere and all they mentioned was his charge for corrupution. Only this article mentioned the real reason he was arrested being his challenge to Zenawi. Thank you I appreciate the truth.
