The notorious Federal Police of Ethiopia (also known as Meles Zenawi’s death squad) has told the state-run Ethiopian Television (ETV) today that it is investigating Wzr. Birtukan Mideksa, chairperson of Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ).
The Woyanne Federal Police is apparently upset that Birtukan Mideksa had told Ethiopians in Sweden last month that she did not ask Meles Zenawi an apology as a condition for getting out of jail.
To make the point, ETV showed the apology letter that was signed by Ato Hailu Shawel, Wzr. Birtukan Mideksa and other leaders of the opposition Coalition for Unity and Democracy (Kinijit).
Birtukan Mideksa and her party have completely submitted to the Woyanne tyranny by doing every thing Meles is demanding of them. It seems that the tribal junta will not be satisfied until Birtukan bends down and kisses Meles Zenawi’s feet. Today’s incident is a shame more on Birtukan that Meles and gang.

The shame is on Meles not Birtukan. We know they have signed that paper. Remember not only Birtukan and Hailu Shawel but Dr Berhanu did also signed that paper. For your information Hailu Shawel was the last to sign. What if they didn’t sign??? They would have been still in prison!!! Does it help anything?? The stuggle against weyane would have been more hopless. No Ginbot7, no Andnet … nothing. Since they have signed it and are out of prison we can see hope now. Being regid is not the way ahead. They have to compromise.
Afterall I don’t believe they signed the paper just to get their ass out of prison. I think there were other provisions that were parts of the deal but weyane takes a U turn sfter having the paper signed. I think they were expecting something else too.
Sometimes we have to do what we shouldn’t or we don’t want to do for good. That is a fact of life specially in poletical life.
She is a law professional. She knows what she did and she knows what she is talking about from legal point of view. S
Please ethiopianreview give some credit to peaceful struggle and those who are striving in it. Weyane is not something you can get rid off ony by peaceful struggle or only by armed struggle. The two shall complement each other. My advice for ethiopianreview is please stop trying to ‘score’ points against Bertukan or others at home. The more you do this the more you disappoint those who want to see every possible options are being used to pressure the weyane regime. Our objective is to see unity, justice and democracy in Ethiopia. yetem fichew duketun amechew
I advice the two to keep their hands away from each other’s neck and to stop confusing us. They have to work out to get us on both sides. They have to convince us they are complementary.
IT might be difficult or even impossible for them to oficially work together but atleast they have to stop criticizing each other. They have to respect each other’s way of struggle.
INTENSIFYING THE PRESSURE ON WEYANE BY ANY MEANS IS WHAT OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE SHOULD BE!!! FOR THAT THE OPPOSITIONS SHALL RESPECT EACH OTHER!!
SELAM
If Birtukan gets an opportunity to kiss Meles Zenawi`s feet, then she has to consider herself as the LUCKIEST WOMAN on the planet for getting this once in a life time opportunity.
Shame on UUU….U don’t want to understand the sufering of the Ethiopian people and the sucrifice she made here with her people.U don’t want to give a recognition to here parties meeting held here in Adiss with this closed politics of woyane but u try to blame her.shame on the diaspora politic barking abroad simply by condemening the strugle.Don’t try to control the politics of the nation abroad. We are the one suffer here without any freedom but try to strugle this situation. Please try to do some kind of constructive work for ur country specialy the opositions strugle…..

is she joking or what?? sorry judge mideksa you are lier and we know already.
Listen all of you guys woyanne is a gang how could we expect
anything from them most ethiopians think woyanne will give up
power through peaceful means that would be a miracle and others like solomon tekaligen surrender them selves for their greed try to loss hope for others and i think we need to come together as one because those who died for better cause wont be forgotten.
Peaceful struggle in TPLF term and condition means: to be subjected under ethnic apartheid -ism.Or you go to kalte jail.
No Gut No Glory Dump every one who signed.
Elias,
Stop your contempt for UDJP for the sake of decency. You were the one who called Birtukan “Lady Liberty”. Yes she is to millions of Ethiopians.
Elias,
Why don’t you have patience and give the leaders of UDJ a chance? You know a peaceful struggle doesnn’t have to rushing to become victims of fascists!!! UDJ is becoming well established legally in the country and is doing constructive work. They are not confronting woyanne as of this time, however, they may not have the capacity and the international recognition yet to be have an effective and damaging action of struggle against woyanne.
Elias, as a comrad of yours,, what I will tell you sincerely is to think for a second that there might be a better alternate way of maneuver out there than yours. If you have criticism and suggestions, do it in a positive and polite way. Disrespectfull content towards the genuin opposition has made us a laughing stock amongst dedeb woyanne bandits.
Once again, I know for sure that Ms. Birtukan knows that the art of a peaceful struggle is provoking a response of the oppressor, however, at the right time! Therefore, please advise and criticize politely, and even though it is very frustrating, have patience.
By the way, I am still waiting on Ginbot 7 to take action in some way to mobilize our people…nothing can be won by lining up part-time soldiers…please make that clear for them!!
The Shame is on you Elias, you sitting her in the saftey of
your surroundings, you have no shame critisizing a brave lady who is fighiting with EPRDF forecs and had made significant secrifices.
Why dont you try to start your struggle in Ethiopia and taste what she is going through?
Hey! let us give Brutican some time though I don’t support her method of struggle. However,I don’t like to criticize her that much quick. After all she is by herself very important people who can efficiently work with her left her for Ginbot 7 .you know how tough the woyanee’s people. What do we get from criticizing someone struggling against the melese regim?
I don’t know until when will be this reaction limited to such types of medias. What is needed is a reaction on the ground from the Ethiopian people which seems nill.
It is not surprising if they signed to get out of the dirty prison because no one could help them. We didn’t see any public uprising or massive anger. Everything was silenced by woyanne. So what is wrong if they did everything to be released as there was no and still is not any prominent public pressure against the regime?
Even if every opposition member boycotts, nothing will happen unless the people get cured from being scarry and unpatriotic. This is the fact.
Soon weyane will declare Ginbot7 a terrorist organisation. And soon weyane will craft a way to link Andnet with Ginbot7. That is the nature of weyane!!
Dear Elias, you may be popular in the diaspora but even 1% of Ethiopians at home don’t know you. Birtukan is popular and loved by almost all Ethiopians at home. Dr. Berhanu Nega is also popular and loved by Ethiopians not because of Ginbot7 but because of his activites in Kinijit during the election. EPPF is almost unknown among Ethiopians at home except (may be) in Northern part. You have to use her popularity as far as she is on the right track.
I really like the vision of Ginbot7 but I’m waiting to see how they can do it on the ground.
Dear Elias what we expect from you is to insist people to come around both fronts. As far as both fronts agree on the main issues as Dr Berhanu put it clearly (believing in the existance of one country called Ethiopia and struggling to form a transition government that will open the space for all to compete and win in a democratic election) then no need to wast time and energy by criricizing one another.
Please lets not devide on irrelevant issues that will extend weyane’s days in power.
Elias I expect you to come out and say it clearlly that both are equally important and deserve our support.
Thanks.
