U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia warns Americans of terror threat

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — The U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia has warned American citizens against taking part in the Great Ethiopian Run because of the threat of terrorism.

Friday’s message says embassy staff and their families should not to take part in the 6.2-mile race set for Nov. 23. The message followed an unspecified terror warning from the Ethiopian government about the race featuring tens of thousands of runners from Ethiopia and around the world. The race is led by distance great Haile Gebrselassie.

The message did not say if the event was named as a specific target but reminded U.S. citizens of deadly bombings this year in the capital, Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia is fighting insurgent groups and supporting the U.N.-backed government in Somalia.

  3. Woyanne will make a lot of noise to get the attention of Americans, they are doing what they do best; be the best African slaves for the US state department and its intelligence agencies. Woyanne hosts one of the biggest interrogation centers for the US, the US agents and Woyanne thugs do the torturing in thise dispecable dungeons, the people they are torturing are innocent Africans, some are there just because they are successful Muslims.

    May be the incoming Obama team will not play ball with the out of control torture machine being run the Bush team. Woyanne will try to ingratiate themselves to the Obama team by telling them they are the most willing slaves for any US administration. This is their last hurrah with Bush’s fake terror war. I bet any American living in Addis Ababa can do whatever they want peacefully in Addis, the Ethiopian people don’t have a history of terrorizing innocent foreigners, on the other hand Woyanne and their Bush team masters have introduced terrorism into Ethiopia, I hope they don’t succeed.

  4. Weyane is a terrorist who is terrorizing the innocent Ethiopian people by killing, jailing,kidnaping and robbing the properties. And USA is helping Weyane the terrorit to demolish our country. Weyane is now doing the same act on Ethiopian people,that it has done on SHERE people during the Derg. Putting bombs in hotels and buses are the ways the Weyane uses to confuse the peoples. USA must stop helping the COMODON-DRAGON WEYANE who does not hesitate to eat human being flesh !!!

  5. This the so called terror threat shouldn’t be surprise for you guys. It is the known Woyane’s old strategy to look for aid from USA. The bombers are woyanes,the victims are innocent citizines. now what woyanes are going to do is blowing some where in Addis to get a sympathy from USA and then claim terrorist.This should be a good time for all Ethiopias to stand together against woyane. they want to play the same game with usa new adminstration but it will be very different game that woyanes even not to play dare to watch the new game. woyane’s old fashion game will over with the Bush adm. playing with innocent Ethiopian blood will over very soon and woyane’s will stop infront of justice.

The US Administration should look into the records of the US Homeland Security’s National Counter Terrorism (NCTC) data bank on Terrorist Incidents and Organizations regarding the TPLF’s former activities, i.e. before they were assisted by the US Government under George Bush, father of the present President, to rule Ethiopia. The TPLF are and were labeled as a Terrorist organization in these documents until this information and the website now seem to have been deleted, possibly because of the friendship with Meles’ government! Fortunately, I have a hard copy of the document.

    This Administration is known for deleting and denying facts – so what else can we expect! This proves to us that the US Administration knows perfectly well who is doing the terrorizing and continues to terrorize its own people in Ethiopia. I don’t think these tactics and pretensions by the US Administration is likely to fool the Ethiopian people. The Ambassador in Ethiopia (Yamamoto) should have realized this by now – you cannot fool the Ethiopian people.

  7. The reason for such a warning is clear. It is to terrorize the Obama adminstration so that he would consider Woyane a strategic friend. This propaganda is orcastrated by both the woyane and the US ambasador to Ethiopia.
