MEKELLE, TIGRAY (ST) – The President of Tigray Region in northern Ethiopia blames the United Nation Security Council (UNSEC) for failing to carry out its responsibility to “halt Eritrea’s repeated disruptions that crippled the Ethiopia-Eritrea UN peace keeping mission (UNMEE).”
In an official closure of the 8-year long UN mission, Two UN planes on Sunday have picked up the last UNMEE Indian battalion from the regional capital’s Airport, a battalion which has been deployed along the Ethiopia-Eritrea border.
In a fare-well ceremony bid at Alula Aba Nega International airport, President Tsegay Berhe said “The federal government of Ethiopia the Woyanne regime has repeatedly addressed grave concerns from day one to the UN security council as the Eritrean government continued to undermine and threaten the peace process; however “deaf ears” were given by the UN security council to all the concerns Ethiopia Woyanne has been addressing.”
The official says the council’s “deaf ears” than swiftly acting against Eritrea’s unlawful acts were the reasons which helped Asmara to a further continued and official disruption over the mission.
“This could be taken as one of the bad lessons that the international community have learnt and it shows the UN Security Council didn’t keep the integrity of the Algiers agreement and the security and comfort of its UNMEE battalions,” he said.
“The consequences will be complete eradication and withdrawal of the Algiers agreement and from its implications,” he added.
During the occasion acting secretary representative to UN Security Council General Azouz Ennifar said “The goals of UNMEE were not to demarcate the borders but to assure both parties respect the cease fire” adding “our goal is to create best grounds for border demarcation”
The officials which included Indian ambassador to Ethiopia have honored the peace force for their dedication in the perspective of the endeavors they made during their stay under UNMEE umbrella and de mining, social supports, their sympathy and association they had won with national, regional government and with the community at large which was said to be more important than the military work.
President Tsegay Berehe reaffirmed that despite the shutdown of the mission, his country, Ethiopia Woyanne is ready to resolve border crises with arch-foe Eritrea peacefully.
“Still the doors for peace are always open through dialogue that can lead us towards lasting peace,” he stressed.

It just amazes me about these thugs rubbish bluffing! I believe their heads and bellies must be filled with human flesh and Ethiopian looted assets! If there is/are any concerned Tigryan please have these empty heads, thugs, looters, killers, and above all liers disappear from the face of the planet before they abring the whole state of Tigry ot its brinks! dubmo we know it is not about UNMEE but the brave Somalians who chased your midget master and his cronies from Megadishu. Dumbo if you think Mekelle or Adwa is far away then you must be dreaming! ask all the Somalians or Eritreans or Ethiopians who have lost their beloved ones due to your migdet boss sophisticated slave of the west! Mr. dumbo head I wish you will be around when all are say and done; if you are lucky! the blood stream of Somalians will hunt you for many generations to come; the blood stream of Ethiopians will hunt you for many generations to come; and finally the blood stream of Eritreans will hunt you for many generations to come! until then just preach the Ethiopians and Tigryans with your empty rhetoric of develoment, democarcy, and constitution!
Who in the hell does this guy think anyway? There is nothing to dialogue about. Not with Weyanes anyway! Weyanes will be kicked out not only from Eritrea, but from Ethiopia as well.
I am very thankful for Ethiopan Review on line service for making sure that Ethiopia and Ethiopians are not represented by the criminal organization(WEYANE).I mean by changin reported Ethiopian official to weyane offficial.Back to my point what the so called president of Greater Tigray said in the fanfare of ex weyane shield or UNMEE from any northern Eritrean or Ethiopian armed threat that unmee failed because didnot act harshly on Eritrea is a non sense Eritrea has accepted the court rulings but what Eritrea and its people refused is to never ever work with the weyane tugs and it will never will happen if any Eritrean official make a move as in to concile with weyane the reaction will be swift even in all members of hezbawi genbar. He or she will face strong resistance.Eritreans have bled so much from this devil and untrustworthy, corrupt, worthless servant of the west group nasty weyane.PERIOD.Weyane should and must go no matter how long it takes.
Ayte Tsegay Berhe. When are you and your groups going to have a decency for just once and tell the world why the UN mission failed to complete its work. Isn’t the Woyane Ethiopia who rejected the EEBC verdict for awarding Badme to Eritrea? Isn’t the TPLF Ethiopia who oppossed UNMEE’s proposal for direct flight to and from Eritrea? Isn’t it true that your behaviour with respect to the peace process was largely influenced by members of State Department in exchange for
allowing Ethiopia to be their play ground? Did you actually expect the people of Ethiopia will believe such nonsense lies and rally behind you? Tsegay, the Betrayal, this ain’t 1998!!!You know what I mean??
It’s emazing how well the TPLF gangs have mastered their deceptive tactics over the last 18 years. If one would carefully read the article pertaining UN’s abandonment of its peace mission and Tsegay Berhe’s “crocodile tears”, and you’ve been closely following the peace process the last seven years, the fact is it was Eritrea who persistently called on Ethiopia to abide by the EEBC’s ruling and allow for the implementation of the demarcation. It was Eritrea who called on the UN and EU (I didn’t see any Tigrian engaging in any peaceful demonstration) to fulfill their obligation as mandated by the Algier’s agreement and to expedite the demarcation process.
if weyana really want a peace why they just dont give the land to eritrea? its that easy the badema belong to eritrea!
The certified crooked wayane era is over for good! They are being chased out of Somalia and discarded by the west, the wounded and dying Wayane will be chased all the way to their final burial place Tigray!
Guys you read this:
“The consequences will be complete eradication and withdrawal of the Algiers agreement and from its implications”.
So is Algiers agreement dead, i assume Meles told him to say what he said ?
Your rejection of my article tells me that you want one sided view only.
Here is my comment; please publish it.
Temporary peace is a time bomb. Eritrea and Ethiopia should now negotiate Ethiopia’s sea port ownership. There will never be any peace while Ethiopia’s life-line is blocked by its ill-faited loss of Assab. If Badme belonged to colonial Eritrea, Ethiopia should give it back to Eritrea. But, Assab had been Ethiopi’s main port for decades and that was with the consent of the European colonizers then. It has now become no-man’s land, thanks to the 1991 the London duo-guerillas agreement. The same leaders who made the agreement then should be mandated to denounce that hasty negotiation and secure Ethiopia’s survival and Eritrea’s thrival as a new nation. This can only be achieved through negotiations in the interest of the people of the two countries. Mind you, it was Eritrea that was carved out of Ethiopia, not the other way round. We should look lasting regional peace, not just seasonal settlement.
This ethno-fascist of abay tigray just got the glimpse of the day of reckoning. He just woke up of his day long dream and realised that the making of “abay tigray” is in not going to happpen. Tough luck!!!
abay tigray is gone for good.!!!!
wat a shame to the UN,which could not implement to a treaty which is aready signed. And weyane it is a matter of time,u will be kicked frm adis.
matti you are absolutely right. This primitive woyanes will be harshly judged by Ethiopians,Somalians and Eritreans.
This Woyanne stooge is crying because he knows his protection is gone for good, despite the super power protection they got for so long long “little” Eritrea forced the Woyanne protection forced aka UNMEE out because they have no job occupying Eritrean territory, the verdict was rendered way back in 2002, since they have been making all kinds of excuses to occupy sovereign Eritrean territory and spying on Eritrean troop movements, now they are gone and Woyanne is fully exposed to the north, they are terrified because the armed Ethiopian opposition groups are hunting them all over Ethiopia, if they try to retreat to “Abay Tigray” there will not be safe heaven because the Eritrean defense forces will see to it that the mercenary Woyanne army will pay for the destruction they caused to the Eritrean people.
May be the Ethiopian people who don’t have access to Eritrea don’t know this but when Woyanne tried to destroy Eritrean freedom in 2000 and made some territorial gain they commited unspeakable atrocities, they destroyed churches, schools, hospitals, civilian homes, historic ancient monuments, killed innocent people and even dug up bodies of Eritrean heroes from Martyrs cemetaries, those are war crimes of the worst kind and the TPLF leadership will be held responsible for those barbaric and cowardly acts. I am sure every decent Ethiopian wouldn’t stand for such barbarity and they will fight even harder to destroy the fascistic Woyanne regime to destroy them for good.
ONCE THEY LEAVE…
1) Eritrea’s ability to buy arms is greatly limited as it forces them to go through dubious and illegal channels and rely on old old enemies of ethiopia and helpers of their independent movement such as Lybia, Syria and other rough states. If war starts, Eritrea may not buy arms fast enough to win anything let alone this time the gov’t may collapse if Woyane or Ethiopian Forces advance close to Asmera once again.
2) Since Eritrea does not have any major income through exports, they don’t adequately use their own sea ports as they are sitting there.
3) With Eritrea’s as well as Ethiopia’s economies and poor/rural peoples being on the verge of early starvation, a War for Eritrea is very very risky. This is a recepie for disaster. If Eritrea thinks they can win a major war or attack on Ethiopia for Badime, risk their fragile economy, risk their rural/poor people going into more starvation, etc…the people may actualy even revolt, this is something the Eritrean Gov’t will NEVER risk, because in the end, they risk their own removal from power.
4) Ethiopia will not attack as it has long time ago, after helping Eritrea become independent and even after the last war re-recognized asseb as Eritrea’s with exception of Badime, Woyane will NOT be interested in a war over badime.
5) The only scenario in which there will be war is if either Woyane or Sheabia is in danger of losing power; if either of them think they’re on the verge to lose power or have internal struggle or political splits, they’ll go to war and as usual secretly help each other out and pretend they’re fighting to the world.
The public statements of the Tigray president is more to play regional politics cause the Tigray people, including those in Mekelle however they are supporters of Woyane are concerned and worried that Eritrea will attack once again. He’s doing something a typical regional politician would do and believe me, all his statements were preapproved by Meles Zenawi.
The other reason Woyane will not go to war with Eritrea as of now is the fact that they’ll also be risking going into debt and since they’ve already agreed to the overall vertual demarcation, they won’t have a reason to go to war, further Woyane does not recognize Asseb as Ethiopia’s but instead has fought for Asseb being Eritrea’s. Further, Woyane has currently no opposition politically, at least none are strong enough to challange them, at this rate Woyane can hold on to power through authoritarian rule for decades even should Ethiopians of millions starve for years and regardless how much noise the diaspora raises in opposition to Woyane rule, matter of fact, there are no strong organized groups that advocate any opposition to woyane. they are all either too weak, disorganized, no message that’s popular that will get ethios arroused, etc.
So, no war will come anytime soon. But the bull@#$ will continue with the twins of Sheabia and Woyane and their games on the population inside the country, outside, so called opposition (which there is none truth be told)!!
Well, hate to kick some reality out there but it is what it is…
