’25 Most Influential Ethiopians’

Ethiopian Review will release its annual list of ’25 Most Influential Ethiopians’ on Thursday, September 11 (Meskerem 1), marking Ethiopia’s New Year.

The list is about 25 persons who are the most influential (good and bad) in the Ethiopian society.

The list is currently being discussed at ER’s ‘Ethiopian Progressive Forum.’ Click here to the read the feedback we have received so far from participants of the forum.

  1. Some of you have started mentioning groups. What about IBEX/ROHA Band…..the ‘BEATLES’ of Ethiopia. They dominated the music scene of the 70’s and 80’s Ethiopia !

  2. 25 Most Influential Ethiopians

    1- Meles Sytanawi – The most evil person that has been killed many civilians in East Africa including Ethiopia and somlia. He is also very determined to completely destroy Ethiopia along with its people.

    2- Bereket Simon- The evil advisor that is also coordinating and orchestrating so many killings to carry out in Ethiopia along his teammates Meles and Sebhat.

    3- Sebhat Nega or commonly known as SEW SIBELA NEGA – the most evil person that TPLF created to entirely devoted to kill Ethiopians especially the Amahra’s that he and many other idiot members of TPLF consider as an enemy. He is also known as the teacher of racism for tigrians against other ethnic groups.

    4- Al Amoudi- for collaborating the biggest corruption network along the idiot members of TPLF( one of the worst criminal and corrupted group). This guy becomes one of the top millionories in the world by taking the Ethiopians wealth and asset along with the HODAM AND DEDEB members of Weyane and their servant cadres. This guy is responsible for expanding of poverty in ethiopia along with the worst members of weyane by supporting their dirty and evil strategies that is bounded by killing innocents.

    5- Hailu Shawel- the idiot and DEDEB person that was the biggest cause for the fallen of Kinijit along his teammates Bedenu Adem and Nigest HONDA.

    6- Denkoro Taye – The worst selfish and idiot person that has orchestrated the fallen of kinijt along many DEDEB and DOMA retiree members of EPRP.

    7- Andargachew Teige- One of the life saver of former kinijit supporters in Diaspora to entirely coordinated a lot demonstration and others major diplomatic works while the kinijt leaders were incarcerated at weyane jail. And now one of the leader of G7 who entirely determined to fight the weyane criminal group by any means possible.

    8- Muluneh Eyoel- Former kinijit secretary that was highly segregated at kality jail for his firm determination against weyane, and now member of G7.

    9- Ato Abrha Belay – One of the very crucial person that persistently shows the best journalism ethics along with his firm stand against the weyane tyranny.

    10- Ato Obang Metho – One of the very honest and determined people that always strive for the solidarity of Ethiopians among oppositions along his firm stand against inhumane actions of weyane brutal.

    11- Prof. Al Mariam – one of the outstanding scholar that we Ethiopians have that persistently works to bring the right democracy for his country by putting his efforts with Ethiopians, Americans and others to show Meles Seytanawi and its self owned company TPLF is the worst criminal group in Ethiopia in all dimensions.

    12- HIS HOLINES PATRARICH ABUNE MEREKORIOS in exile who strongly believes in God and respects his church rules that has been fought to keep his orthodox church along with many other strong priests, church officials and orthodox followers from the weyane gangster groups that are appointed by Tagay Paulos in the name of Mahebere Irkusan.

    13- Abebe Belew- one of the best patriotic Ethiopian that become a journalist to expose the truth about the dirty games of Weyane since he strongly feels he has to contribute his part for the struggle against weyane. He also always tries to reduce the gap regarding the chicken fight among oppositions especially in Diaspora.

    14- Dr. Birhanu Nega – the bed rock that steadfastly cares for his country and people from the vultures, from every corner. One of the very outstanding and firm people that always wishes the best for his country. He also strongly believe that we all can bring the right justice and democracy by easily removing the weyane criminal group. And now one of the leader of G7.

    15- Birtukan Midekessa- a young Ethiopian heroine that persistently works for the principle she holds through peaceful struggle to keep her strong promise for her beloved people. Now a chairman of UDJ, the first women to become a leader of a political party.

    16- Tamagne Beyene – one of the greatest patriotic Ethiopian artist and human right activist that always parches about unity among Ethiopians with a principle “One Ethiopia, One people.” He is also shows a firm stands against the inhumane actions of weyane criminal group.

    17- Elias Kifle – that constantly exposes the dirty game of weyane, and strongly angry about the gross human rights disrespect of wyenae. He strongly believes that weyane has to be removed by any means possible. Elias also believes that why we Ethiopians don’t work against weyane as the weyane works everyday against Ethiopians.

    18- Teddy Afro – a singer and an icon that strongly believes in our unity and languishing at weyane jail for the crime he didn’t do.

    19- Seye Abrha –TPLF founder and former TPLF member. But now strongly disagree with meles and seems believes Ethiopia needs justice and democracy. But has not yet put a lot of effort to tell the Tigrians to support the criminal group of TPLF. Now is a member of Arena.

    20- Gen. Kemal- member of OLF and former server of TPLF. Now strongly believes that OLF should stand with other Ethiopians to liberate the whole Ethiopia from weyane rather than tiny mine
    ethnocentric views of former OLF bad greedy leaders.

    21- Dr. Gidey – one of the leaders of Ginbot 7.

    22- Mohamed O. Osman- Ogaden National Liberation Front chairman

    23- Kennenissa Bekele- the great long distance runner and holder of the 5000m and 10,000m world record.

    24- Dr. Hailu Araya- PR of former kinijit and PR of current UDJ, that strongly believes in one Ethiopia and relentlessly resists against the hodam racism politics of TPLF members, and were languished at weyane jail along with other former kinijit leaders and members.

    25- Freedom fighters of ONLF, OLF, EPPF AND OTHERS….that become a fighter against weayene after a repeated human rights disrespect of weyane on Ethiopian people.

    I believe in the Ethiopian society there is only one influencial person that is Meles Zenawi,by the very definition of the word influence. everybody else is a true derrivative, negative or positive of this one character Meles Zenawi,so all the politicians bieng considered for the top influencial persons list they themselves are bieng influenced by… you guessed it Meles zenawi. so how can they influnce anyone when their action is a reaction to mr Zenawi. what iam trying to say is untill we live in a free society or rid ourselves, meles zenawi is our only influence postive or negative but if you are looking for the 25 most inspirational persons the list is very very long .

  5. Here are my list of This Year’s 25 Most Influential Individuals….

    1) Judge Birtukan Midekessa, Chairperson of Andenet/UDJ – the first woman to lead a political party in Ethiopia. One of the leaders of the former Kinijit.

    2) Eng. Hailu Shawul, President of AEUP – the oldest but strong leader of a political party. One of the leaders of the former Kinijit.

    3) Dr. Birhanu Nega, Leader of Ginbot-7 – the most articulate and visionary leader of a political movement. One of the leaders of the former Kinijit.

    4) Dawd Ibsaa, Chairman of OLF – instrumental in the formation of AFD (Alliance for Freedom and Democracy), which had created chaos in TPLF camp. Open to work with Pro-Ethiopia opposition parties.

    5) Lencho Bati, Leader of OLF – instrumental in the formation of AFD. Open to work with Pro-Ethiopia opposition parties.

    6) Mersha Yosef, Leader of EPRP (D) – playing a key role in reforming the old EPRP into democratic EPRP and isolating the destructive Iyasu group.

    7) Bulcha Demekessa, Chairman of OFDM – one of the harshest critics of woyane in the “Parliament.” Challenged OPDO in the “Oromia” region despite obstacles.

    8) Prof. Mesfin W/Mariam, Member of Andenet/UDJ – the oldest and most influential figure in Ethiopian politics. Very outspoken, straight talker and sometimes controversial. A “living human library.” Exposed Meles’ lie regarding our land given to Sudan.

    9) Addisu Abebe, VOA (Amharic) Journalist – fair and balance reporting of news and information to Ethiopians. Serves as voice for the voiceless.

    10) Elias Kifle, Editor of ER – Very controversial but popular webmaster of Ethiopianreview website, one of the anti-TPLF websites. Known for his strong anti-TPLF views and pro-EPLF views.

    11) Liya Kebede, Ethiopian model – the first and most internationally renowned Ethiopian model, who is serving as ambassador for Ethiopia and Ethiopians.

    12) Kenenisa Bekele, the King of Long Distance Running – double gold medalist in 10,000m and 5,000m in Beijing Olympics. Record Holder in 10,000m and 5,000m

    13) Tirunesh Dibaba, the Queen of Long Distance Running – double gold medalist in 5,000m and 10,000m in Beijing Olympics. The first black women to do that.

    14) Mr. Obang Metho, founder of AJC – influential voice in the struggle against woyane. A symbol of Ethiopian Unity.

    15) Tewodros Kassahun (aka Teddy Afro), singer and songwriter – the King of Ethiopian Reggae. Advocates Peace, Unity, Tolerance. Most Popular Ethiopian singer alive. Critic of the TPLF Regime. Jailed for Speaking the Truth. Symbol of the Struggle for Justice in Ethiopia.

  9. Well put. One of Elias Kifle’s audacious work to fight Woyanes.

    Although I don’t know many of the nominees, but it appears someone has done some research in putting together the list.

    What a shame Meles and Hailu Shawl to be in the same categories?

    It is nice, we did not get another Meles or in the embodiment of Hailu Shawl, while trying to get rid of Meles Zenawi.

    It is also amazing some sons of fuedal and reactionary forces in the Diaspora continue to support Hailu Shawl in the name of ethnic solidarity – to continue the Meles policy, but camflouging themseleves as patriotic Ethiopians. Their dishonesty and chicanery is worse than the deeds and the crime of Meles. Of course, Meles does not hide his ethnocentrism.

    So Elias, please put Hailu Shawl and his cohorts as the most rogue and the most shameful of all.

  11. It is interesting almost all the name of the list above mentioned lookslike Ethiopia has nobody but politician.

    Is that true? When we say influntial people it doesn’t mean only in the area of politics but it does mean reserach and discovery,humaniterian support,new ideas for the development, social work and contributions to the population at large BUT don’t forget there must be RESULT … IT SHOULD BE RESULT ORIENTED and there must be a large number of firm believer in his or her strategy of whatever to be called influntial person. I don’t see that personality in any of the above people instead the reality is they all are HODAMOCH!( I know Elias because your name is there you won’t post my comment but I have a link anyways people will read my comment)

    All you guys are mentioning the so called politician or the so called opposition politician but in reality what did they do to the people of ethiopia except talking talking talking without changing!!!

  13. No one like Professor Alemayehu Gebermariam. He is the true
    intellectual who looks every angles. One day Ethiopia might have him as a leader. Another one is Obnag Metheo who teaches ehtiopian a lot about different ethincithy.,
