United, Planned and Disciplined Struggle for SELF-Liberation

Nonviolent action is like violent combat in at least two ways: it does not succeed automatically, and it does not operate mysteriously — it works by identifying an opponent’s vulnerabilities and taking away his ability to maintain control. Doing so requires strategy for action, without which movements rarely prevail. The skill with which those choices were made shaped the outcome… [read more]

  1. Hello Elias Kifle the GREAT (Keep it up),

    WHERE ARE OUR ETHIOPIAN YOUNGSTERS????????
    WHERE ARE OUR “UNIVERSITY STUDENTS”???????
Your mothers and sisters are crying???
YOU ARE A SHAME TO OUR ETHIOPIA.
    YOU ARE COWARDS.
    YOU ARE TRAITORS.
YOU ARE NOT WORTH TO BE CALLED UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.
    YOU ARE OPPORTUNISTS.
    YOU HAVE NO PRIDE
YOU ARE THE SERVANTS OF WOYANE.
    YOU HAVE NO NATIONAL FEELINGS
YOU, AND NOT THE BEGGAR WOYANE (for woyane is not powerful), ARE THE ENEMY OF ETHIOPIA and HISTORY WILL JUDGE YOU ONE DAY, my dear cowards

YOU ARE EVEYRYTHING WHAT IS BAD.

MAY GOD SAVE ETHIOPIA FROM HER SELFISH “UNIVERSITY STUDENTS”.

    Saba replies:

Ato Mulugeta don’t you think you are too harsh on the students calling them all these names? I do not agree with calling all students traitors, and servants of woyane. And besides which University students are you talking about. We have to be careful what we are saying.

    Shetaye replies:

I agree with Saba. those of us who are matured through what ever means we got our maturity, have a responsibility of teaching and showing the young people the right way. The present day student struggle in our society back home is completely different from what used to be many years ago. Even though I was not born at the time i have read few things to differentiate the two.

However, we all know that the current oppression in Ethiopia has been legitimised by failure of student movement and academics to uproot the regime’s policy which is continuing to hold captive the minds of a mass of people in a state of false consciousness.
On the other hand the current circumstances of”corporatised” higher education system makes it necessary now more than ever to begin to examine the issues of relativism as it relates to the questioning of current state of these institutions and student movements.

Ethiopia needs student activist/intellectuals who are willing may be not to lead but to ignite and actively participate and to bring about a democratic system in which the rule of law and human rights are respected.

I am not too sure if the students in Ethiopia are ready for a battle due to various social, economic and political obstacles. They are now taken over by journalists, teachers and even farmers in the countrysides. But I would never call them “cowards and servants” of the current TPLF government.

    Bekele replies:

    Mulugeta,

Perhaps the “coward students” need some example to follow. Why don’t you show them the way?

  2. Jeginaw, that is exactly the opposite of the article. The article states “find the venerability” of the tyrant and hit him hard RIGHT THERE. The article does not advise you to search for your enemy’s strong point and hit him there. That is what the Ethiopian opposition has been doing for the last 4 or 5 years.

Chenawi just got a cool 400million dollars from World Bank for specific projects he has in mind to keep him in power. This is ofcourse a tiny pocket change compared to the billions he gets. You have almost no chance against him in this regard. That is not to say giving him dollars will not help him. It is just the focus should not be fighting him on his strong points which are a gift from World Bank and IMF.

However, Chenawi has other weaknesses. For example, he is tyrant. He is an isolated dictator. Much of his longevity rests on creating animosity between different classes of people. This has a strong as well as a weak point. The weakest point being that all of it is almost driven by a sense of hate and a need to keep on power. You can exploit that to the hilt if you are a smart and sensible leader.

If you fight them like Derg used to do, that is being purely driven by a need to meet your enemy head on, you will be crushed like yeTela bet Tasa. And the last 7 years have shown the truism of my advise. Learn from Kinjit which imploded like a collection of sh*T without Weyane firing a single bullet. (not withstanding the infiltrators and so on , ofcourse)

  3. Ethiopia clamps down on Skype and other internet use on Tor
Al Jazeera recently reported that Ethiopia passed a law on 24 May criminalising the use of VoIP (voice over internet protocol) calls. It said the maximum sentence was 15 years in jail. The BBC could not independently confirm the details.
The war on terrorism is fought on many fronts. Civilized nations are using state of the art tools to stop terrorists from causing mayhem. This includes monitoring and eavesdropping on all calls be it landline or Internet (VOIP) call, military engagements and other covert means. Ethiopia is no exception in this regard. The country has been fighting terrorists using appropriate mechanisms at its disposal. However, the latest news about criminalizing VOIP uses in the country is disheartening! We understand Ethiopia does not have the luxury to monitor all VOIP calls like the rich western nations to stop terrorist actions! But, banning the use altogether is a drastic measure that needs to be reviewed again by the respected authorities! We have registered our misgiving, about the new law, with the authorities. There has to be another way to address the issue. For the record the answer we got from an official was “the use of VOIP calls has never been legal in Ethiopia to begin with” VOIP use in Ethiopia is illegal for commercial or individual use!

LOOK BELOW ABOUT THE 1000 FACTS ON APARTHEID.

There is hope however that the government may not strictly enforce the law on law-abiding citizens.(aigaforum June 16, 2012)

WHO ARE THE LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS? Not only tplf, all its supporters are responsible for the Apartheid in Ethiopia.
