Ethiopian media organizations call for boycott of Ethiopian Airlines

Several Ethiopian media organizations issued a worldwide call for economic boycott against the ethnic apartheid dictatorship in Ethiopia.

The call was made by 12 major Ethiopian electronic and print media at a teleconference that was held on Saturday, April 12, 2012. The conference was attended by over 600 Ethiopians around the world.

The worsening repression in Ethiopia and particularly the recent ethnic cleansing of Amhara ethnic groups in southern Ethiopia, the displacement of tens of thousands of people in Gambela and Afar, and the ongoing genocide against the Ogaden people have prompted the media groups to make the call.

The boycott particularly focuses on Ethiopian Airlines and other major enterprises that are sources of hard currency for the genocidal regime.

  1. Are G7, EPRP and EPRPd involved in this boycott. Unless these groups who were comrades now enemies stop their enemity, the struggle will be negatively affected and we are prolonging woyane reign of terror. Excluding anyone group from the struggle does not bring lasting peace.

  2. Fantastic decision, the junta’s financial income should be stopped by us. We have no power to stop the one they are getting from donor countries, but this decision is in our hands. Let us get together to make it effective.
Also we should find some one who can get a tatoo on Meles’s ass a word that says “banda” , So that his wife Azeb can see it every night and get turned off.

    Viva Tikur Sew
Viva Menelik, the enemy of our enemies, You are our pride and hero for Africa.
Viva Balcha Aba Nefso, our real father of all Jegnas,
Viva Haile Mariam Mamo, Belay Zeleke, Abebe Aregaye and all the others

  3. Dear Kassa:
Thank you and god bless you for upholding the names of these black diamonds. War is terrible, war is a nightmare. It is not fun. You do not have a peaceful sleep or peaceful morning in war. Our fathers and forefathers did not have a picnic. They went and were in such terrible engagment willing to sacrifice their life. They They faced the well equipped aggressor enemy and bravely defeated it.

TPLF should be squeezed out of power by all feasible means. Every ethiopian bears a solemn responsibility to take the war to the nose of TPLF. Ethiopia should stop suffering. We have suffered for the last 40 years. Now there is nothing left of us. I do not see a difference between living and dying. In fact death is much better than living as an ethiopian. TPLF is another derg, another neftegna. Enough of gun totters. enough of gun lovers. We will not line up a 100,000 gurilla army to get rid of tplf because that is primitive woyane logic of replacing one gun totter by another gun totter. We will align all the 80 million people of ethiopia against the tplf. The line is drawn. It is a war between tplf and the ethiopian people. We need a practical effective strategy to finish the course, the course to freedom, the path to democracy, the end of ruling by the barrel of the gun, ruling by terror and decpetion. Enough to gun loving, gun totting and primitive bravado. Enough to ineterhamwe politics. Enough to divide and rule. We have to save this country from the svage in the name of TPLF. We have to save this country for our future generations. we can not remain divided and call ourselves ethiopian when tplf pits tigrians against amharas, amharas against the south, amharans agaisnt oromos. There are many aspects that unites us than that divides us. we have to stand above our differences. Our differnces are our diversity. It is our asset. It should be respected and cebrated. Out unity is our strength.

    ja replies:

Brother as you see here there is no any political group on this boycott agreement. They all are media but not ally for any political party. Look there is no ONG, G7, or debt raw who are advocating their party. If any media that are not ally from any party they could be called. I hope you got my point.

  6. we need to be carefull and make sure that the impact of the boycott does not affect the ordinary citizen of Ethiopia.

    enashenifalen. replies:

    To Lemma,or Dedeb Weyane,
The impact of this boycott will posetively affect
    our citizens,
Learn a simple demand and supply effect
food prices will rise if demand is high, if demand is low
and food staples are in abundance, price will go down.
    you understand.

  7. Great!!!!!!! this is what we call action but not only Ethiopian air lines (This time under woyanne occupation)to look for another alternative of helping families back home like giving them in birr at home to let the foreign currency stay away

    Anonymous replies:

Hi,brother there are AWALA system heir in the USA and give money in birr over Ethiopia, just make sure they are not WOYANNE members doing that.
but there are ways sending money, just a matter of putting little effort..

  8. The Airline is suffering immensely from fuel price hike. Any small change in its operation can have very big effect. The boycott, if it can be implemented comprehensively, could have very devastating effect. No mercy to this horrible regime who deports women and children in their own country while rewarding companies from India.

    Good job.

  9. idont seen no influence whether the ethiopian boycott ethiopian airlines or not,,,cose in every flight only 1 % r ethiopians ,,sths none,,,,cose ethiopian airlinescostly to all ethiopian,,,,,,,so yaletinat yetderege zemecha new,,,dagim sihtet,,,hahaha

  10. I hope ER research team will come up with the list of specific businesses directly or indirectly affiliated with the weyane regime.

    endangered species replies:

here’s a few; the United Nations, the United States, the United Kingdom…

  11. I,have told couple of my family member not to travel with EAL, and they will be buying there ticket’s from other air line.

So people tell your family, your friend and any one willing to listen.we have to do our part. don’t wait for some one else to do it,we have to do it our self…
    GOD bless Ethiopia!!

    endangered species replies:

Yes, fly Turkish Airlines, … they have great reputation, ask the Armenians and the Turkish.

    Brook Haile replies:

endangered, you may be correct but still check and recheck just to be sure…
I, think it is wise to research turkish air line and EAL(TPLF)air are not affiliated. other ways the boycott will not work. so i don’t recommend Turkish air with out checking it first…

  12. Anonymous at No. 4 and eth at No. 5. you are same person from dedebit. Only those from dedebit think that they are smarter than others. Another characteristic of yours is that you often try to put a wedge between peoples, where there is none. It is on record that it is the dedebit boys who are committing crimes against the Oromo for the past 20 something years.

  13. This will never serve Ethiopian interest. This is divise and not democratic practice. You cannot attack people who oppose you? you can only attack them only ideologically, but not by attacking their life line? This will backfire and help even people to serve their goverment with more committment. Reason, they will learn from this, their membership with TPLF or EPRDF is being called a crime? If I were a supporter, I would feel more motivated to defend the regime because I could believe if these type of politicians take power, I will be in danger. Almost the entire Tigreans supporters TPLF by default for historical reasons, but now other Ethiopians will stop going to Tigreans shops? Who will be happy about this? you cannot achieve anything.

You all have little heads. You do not know what you are doing, and you do not know your vision or objectives. This will only empower TPLF more because people renew their allegiance to TPLF or EPRDF. This is the problem of Ethiopians politics. You do not have a right to control who they should support. You can only teach and convince people, but you cannot force people to folllow you.

You will call me woyane, but you will not achieve anything from this online campaign of targetting governemnt supporters. This is not democtratic practice anywhere. It is this type of people who defean us by preaching democracy, yet they cannot practice it themselves.

  14. Gezaee,
It is clear from your comments that you don’t want accept the fact that it is Your own people who are doing all the evil deeds and you keep on talking with both sides of your mouth, The entire Ethiopian government is controlled by your ethnic group— they have been robbing the country’s money, treasures and natural resources since they came to power…,Food from the mouths of starving Ethiopian men, women and children…,They have been torturing innocent Ethiopians for the last 20 years…, They have kicked and thrown out thousands and thousands Ethiopians out of their homes and property and given and have sold their precious land to foreigners for a few pennies an acre…,they have locked up countless number of innocent Ethiopians in jail…, tens of thousands of law abiding Ethiopians have been evicted from their homes, property and from the only thing they knew and love with no place to go…..the crimes of Meles and his thugs is endless….
Start barking at the criminals, not at Ethiopians who are trying to give voice to the voiceless Ethiopians who are being abused and ruled with hot fired iron fist. Pray to God to give to eyes, the ears and conscience to understand to feel the suffering of innocent Ethiopians. Ethiopians are not at fault, it is your heartless, merciless subhuman tyrant that has the blood of hundreds of thousands if not millions of innocent Ethiopians, Somalis and your own cousin Eritreans.

  15. Lets be serious and consider others on the list. When are we going to raise a boycott or wage war on the drones in Gagam?
Aren’t the drones another cash cow? They are not sitting in Arba Minch for free. Other cash cows are every where. Drones are killers of the new evil empire. EAL at least gives civil service and employs people who need to put food on the table . Much can be said fellows. Don’t cherry pick your targeted enemies. If you want to struggle like others did , challenge them all in a revolutionary way as the time(and history)demands and not resort to pleas and whining.

Final solution is clear – you catch a thief/TPLF cut his hand from touching the sacred cow. or if he is a mass murderer – evidences overwhelm in the case of Ethiopia, bring him and others to justice ASAP and behead them. Not figuratively but literally as it’s being done in their beloved country – Saudi Arabia. Please don’t soften the struggle and change direction with so-called boycotts. Grow up and learn from history.

Do you know what (maekeb) means which is now practised over Eritrea by the UN and Iran and some other countries which doesnot fit with national interest of the west? have you ever read books how Ghandis struggle boycotting the British colonial power products affects and contribution for the freedom? this action might not affect
entire shifta gang for short period but has a big impact on the tyrants structure and a big contribution along with others like sending money (foreign currency) to the families because it goes direct to crime gangs account as your families will recieve a printed money that would lead the nation to the extrem problem for generations to come means we are helping the tyrant clique of killing genarations that has already killed 2 generations. We have to be on the situation of the donkey (Ene kemotku serdo aybkel)means let the grass stop growing after i die (and that is the woyanne kuncho is all about )He even does not care for his coming generations fate his only motive is destoying Ethiopia he is (Ye tefat meleketegna) means a messanger of evil. And at last always the good destroys the evil.

  16. it’s pity,so many person they donot care about politics, coz we are foollished by goverment,we are poor,no knowlege and energy to fight with corrupted and cruel goverment.
