Ethiopian Review expanding its information infrastructure inside Ethiopia

Dear Ethiopian Review reader:

This week we are launching a regular monthly fund raising campaign to help us meet our 2012 budget goals. One week every month until the end of 2012 we will conduct an online fund raising.

With the help of our sponsors, Ethiopian Review’s web site has been able to withstand constant attacks from TPLF regime hackers and the high volume of traffic these past few weeks. However, the plan to expand our information infrastructure inside Ethiopia is lagging behind because of lack of resources, which is limiting our effort to collect valuable information.

To help expand Ethiopian Review’s capacity, particularly its ability to collect and disseminate information inside Ethiopia, we have launched a sponsorship program called 1k5. We invite you to take part in it.

The plan is to have 1,000 sponsors who are willing to contribute $5 per month (16 cents per day) or more to support Ethiopian Review. The program will be used for: 1) funding information units inside Ethiopia; 2) maximizing the web site’s technical capacity to make it faster and fight off hackers. With this program we can double Ethiopian Review’s capacity.

Ethiopian Review’s 2012 Plan is more ambitious than ever. It involves expanding our information infrastructure and network inside Ethiopia; adopting latest technologies; and forging partnerships with other pro-democracy media and groups to facilitate positive change in our country.

For Ethiopian Review to be able to succeed, we need the continued support of its readers. We have made it more simple and convenient for you to support us.

I invite you to sponsor Ethiopian Review by participating in the 1K5 Sponsorship Program. Please sign up for $5 per month. The system we have set up will automatically deduct $5 from your credit, debit, or Paypal account monthly.

Is Ethiopian Review worth your 16 cents per day. If so, please sign up by clicking here:

Ethiopian Review believes that the struggle for democracy must be anchored in and owned by Ethiopians. Accordingly, our plan is to build capacity within the country. Your contribution will help us do this. To strengthen trust, confidence and transparency, contributions and how they are spent will be audited and reported to our sponsors.

Thank you.

  1. to all Lovers of Ethiopia,do your part support ETHIOPIAN REVIEW not just with our lips but with our pocket books!!!

    bugzzy replies:

    count me in 4 $500.00 a month

  2. I have raised my support for ER by contributing $20/month. I will also Give ESAT another $40/month. I am doing this not because I have money, but I know success does not come without sacrifice. Remember our forefathers sacrificed their lives in order for us to gain freedom and justice.

Brothers and sisters please do not wait for your friends to participate, do your part now. It cost us not even a cup of coffee. Honestly, don’t we sometimes spend much more than $5/per month on frivolous causes. I beg you, dear brothers and sisters, please help the media at all cost. Imagine the suffering of our people, all the young Ethiopian girls who are suffering in the hands of arrogant Arabs in the mid-east countries and all those would be young Ethiopian refuges who become snacks to the sharks in trying to cross the red sea looking for a better life. or the ones who crossed the sea but ended up in Arab prison as illegal immigrants. Even our elderly parents and relatives who are forcefully evicted from their lands in order for Zenawi and company to sell their land and fatten their foreign bank accounts

    God Bless replies:

Well Said, I do not want to see another Alem Decvhasa raped and murdered by arab gangs. I will do my part!

  3. I am hundred percent sure my Ethiopian brothers and sisters will show unity when they are called for something so small to give to our country.Let our enemies know that we are all one people who love our motherland so dearly by helping Ethiopian Review for the great job it has done for all of us for the future and its promise it will accomplish. We should also find some other way of helping so that people who do not have those accounts mentioned could send in money order and cheques. For example a one time contribution of $60 covers one year and a reminder note could be posted once a year to those who want to do it every year.

We can never be free unless our people specially the young people in Ethiopia can read what we are saying here. They need to know that we are united and we are on their sides in every struggle they are making back home. University and high school students, graduates and those with jobs and no jobs will all learn about this tribal, racist junta government. We have to speed up our liberation.

Long Live Ethiopia, her true children will save her from the hyenas.

  4. I wouldn’t mind contributing but I don’t think you would accept money from Tigryans, would you?

    Abrehet replies:

Alula this is sad.Do you think this is even worth your time posting the stupidest thing ever on this site? Would you like it if someones says to you “i don’t think you would eat injera because you are a tigre I will give you ambasha instead”. No one like comments like that. When the majority of our country hate calling themselves Ormo, Tigre, Amhara and so on and when we are all saying we are all Ethiopians who are struggling for Democracy, You are bringing the stupidest argument at a wrong time. If you are the same Alula who is writing anti-Ethiopia and anti-Democracy statements now and again on this site Ethiopian review should not even give you the previllage of posting anything here. You even told Elias Kifle he should go to jail with Andualem. You are a sick individual. And you are a strong supporter of the brutal regime in Ethiopia. I think you should write on one of state owned newspapers in Ethiopia. Thanks to all other Ethiopians from all ethnic backgrounds Ethiopia will be free and it is a fact.

    Yashenefal replies:

Corection my sister Abrehet… it is not state owned it is TPLF BANDA owned Media…

    Anonymous replies:

Alula : LOOL endiea Antemea ye Tigray kinet Abalet yemihedubetin Autobis yegelebetik Ashebari kura Aydelehim endiea hahahah Elias (ER) yanten genezeb Ayefelgim

  5. Eliyas what do you mean about information units ? I think you sent inocents to jail ! cause of your way of activist. I don’t give any mony !

I will give to ESAT !

    Anonymous replies:

i think there are some Ethiopian friends who need to learn a lot.Not knowing is one thing but making an accusation is something more serious.I could not read and understand what you are saying but i think i know what you are trying to say. How is it that you believe Elias sent innocent people to jail? Because of what he is saying and what he believes in, is that what you mean? In that case there are so many Ethiopians who agree with him so you think that is not good. You need to know the difference between what Elias is doing and what the government in Ethiopia is doing. There is a big difference between those who struggle for democracy and those who hate democracy. I can not say much because it will take many years to make you understand. However, I am glad you want to help ESAT and I encourage you to do that because it is Ethiopia’s true television.

    Mekonnen replies:

Why waste your time replying to woyane buchilas, he noticed these enthusiastic support to ER & ESAT, he is just throwing mud. The point is the stronger we become the more frustrated they will be and that turn them in to a mad dog ( their real identity).

    Mack replies:

I rather give ER. we need people like Elias

  6. I would gladly will contribute even more if ER pledge that it will not be used as a stage for formenting enemity between various regions, especially between Eritreans and Ethiopians! My observation so far ER does not have a firm stand, on day it posts news condeming TPLF and next day compensate it condemning Eritreans. Have a clear stand and I am ready to contribute. HM

  7. $60 per year? I am one of the thousand people to do this right away. In fact few people can completely cover the sponsorship. But, that may influence the publisher and voice only the few sponsor’s ideas. So folks let the sponsors be at least one thousand people to do individual sponsorship for ER. At the same time, it is an absolute moral obligation to sponsor ESAT TV, Addisdimts.com and Netsanet LeEthiopia Radio.

Mr. Elias, what is the postal address to send the one time payment of $60.00 in Money Order? Money Order is an easy way to donate without your name revealed to anyone.

    Thanks,

    Admirer

  8. ER, Your long time dedication and visionary march for the better Ethiopia is very soon to be victorious. Because more than ever our people are showing their hunger for unity and helping each other. Not only words we have began to see some serious actions. Even here(Ethiopian Review) in the most popular on line media of Ethiopians ever,
Significant number of people are responding to your CALL.
GOD Bless Ethiopia and its people!
I never sponsored or donated to ER before. don’t ask me why? but in short the answer is because of some lame excuses that don’t amount to any real reasons. But today for the first time I just made some contribution to ER. Man!, It feels so good.
I am sure there are many who want to do the same but never got around it. If any one out there who always wanted to help but kept postponing it. Please take the first step and help. You will feel very proud of your self. And probably you will be encouraged by your own action to even do more and better.

  9. it’s not a problem for me to send u 100/month. u must convince me, u’re working not only for ERITREA but also for ETHIOPIA against the dictator. i’m willing to forgive u for what u’ve been doing. i don’t object if u work for eritrea any more as long as u’re not still in the trenches.

it is time to come in the open, and broadcast peace and celeberate our storied, beloved countries and heritage. we ethiopians have moved on/SPECIALLY AMARAS LIKE MYSELF/ we accept eritreans as eritreans. the enemy is woyanie.

however the spctre of turmoil haunt eritrea today as much as ethiopia. woyanie had already opened up on the great, brave people i love so dearly: the AFARS.

our battle cry should be ETHIOPIA/ERITREA UNITE. DEATH TO WOYANIE.

  10. Ethiopia is in the process of negotiations with multinational retailer Walmart to facilitate the entry of the corporation in the Ethiopian market.

A delegation sent by the Ethiopian government met with officials from the US based corporation last week according to sources.

The Ethiopian government is considering the move to invite Walmart as part of ongoing efforts to curb the surge of commodity prices.

The Ethiopian government has been considering multinational corporations that are experienced in wholesale distribution, such as Wall-Mart it was said.
A group of experts representing the government have been on a visit to India to review how such companies were attracted in to the market there.

Ethiopia is exerting effort to control annual inflation rates which rose again to 36.3% in February from 32% in January and the overhaul of the management of the Merchandise Wholesale and Import Trade Enterprise including inviting an international corporation to takeover.

MWITE is in the process of introducing institutional reform although to enhance operations according to Gemeda Aleme, newly appointed General Manager although the Ethiopian government is considering subcontracting its management to an international company.

Walmart is said to be one of the largest corporations in the world placing number 18 on the Forbes Global 2000 list ranked by revenue. The multinational corporation is the biggest private employer in the world with 2 million employees.

    Mekonnen replies:

I noticed your data is 2000, 2011 Wall-Mart is Number two next to the oil giant Exon Mobil wall mart 7,000,000 employees.

  11. $5 a month is nothing it comes to $60 a year. but people can contribute as much as they could. one thing i like about ER is that updated on hourly bases. for those of us busy life style have no time to listen to Esat or voa, ET is convenient quick check on mobile phone if any news, specially the last few weeks uncertainty in ethiopia ER is very helpful and quick to get news compare to any other ethio websites.

  12. Elias has proven time and again formidable opponent to the regime he will never expose the identity of ER informers unlike other websites not trusted, Esat is new yet to be proven if they are trustworthy. $60 a year contribution by ER readers good value for money.
