  1. OMG! A heartbreaking story indeed! What a way to die! May God bless his soul and give strength to his family and friend. He should have burnt the people who made his life a living hell instead of burnt himself to death. This is the end result of desperation and hopelessness. I hope CNN report this story as they did the story of that Egyptian who burnt himself and started the revolution that brought the end of Mubarak.
Elias, please e-mail his story to CNN and other major news-media.

  2. How many of us have this determination for freedom and justice? This is a news we should make sure Ethiopians hear because it pushes the limits of sacrifice we should expect and make in the near future. Look people, let us know that life is worth living in a situation where one has dignity and voice. Today, a Woyane junta is rolling the time and we are responding to their actions. Woyane intends to control the economy and leave politics gradually. When are we going to do something small to spread information about these acts of bravery and the exposing the acts of the Woyane in simple emails and words of mouth. Some of us find it had to such small things while some burn themselves with kerosene to express their opposition. Change you gear and live like people not like a tree that lives and dies in one spot without any change. What IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MAN AND A PLANT. A MAN DOES NOT ACCEPT THE AXE WITH SILENCE AND A MAN AT LEAST SHOWS HIS OPPOSITION IN THE FACE OF REPRESSION, KILLING, HARASSMENT AND FALSE ACCUSATIONS.

  3. Honest

Does it really matter what he is? He was driven to a point where had to resort to such a drastic way of taking his own life. Here you are making an asinine statement “Gebre is Tigre name”.

The fact of the matter is a man took his own life because he couldn’t take it any more. This should not happen to anyone regardless.

    Manu

  4. If you are not ready to die for it, don’t even bother to talk about FREEDOM

Someone told me to run, I should.

I try to keep my eyes open; I would, if I could.

    Wait,

Nobody told me it would feel this good.

I look at the sky and breathe in one last time,

That’s it; I think it has reached my time.

I close my eyes and as I let go, I smile,

I haven’t felt this happy in a very long while.

Don’t get carried away with me,

    Going, Going, I’m gone away…

    To my mother, father, son, daughter and anyone that has cried;

It would be an insult to say I have died,

Instead be blissful and speak my name in pride,

Or release those tears of joy you are trying to hide,

For I am waiting for you on the better side.

Sorry about the call you received at 4 o’clock in the morning,

I don’t want you upset and I don’t want you mourning.

I am sorry to anyone I have left behind,

I hope one day peace and tranquillity you will find.

Don’t worry about me I am wide awake,

For I have lost my LIFE for freedom’s sake
If you have lost me or any family member,

Stay with the thought that you will be free.

They say what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger,

So try and hold on a little while longer.

    With you I will always remain, in your heart and your soul;

As you try to find freedom and accomplish this goal.

Be strong, and remain standing tall,

Don’t give up hope or lose patience as you fight for evil’s downfall,

Everything helps no matter how small,

Each one of us can build freedom like each brick builds a wall.

    Pray, Pray, Pray and Pray.

Try not to lose patience and carry on day after day,

As you fight for freedom in every way.

My death wasn’t my end, it’s not over,

The sadness of my loss you will get over,

Remember that freedom is what I am after,

Agony and Pain I will never again fret over,

Just carry on praying for the day that this is all over

  5. He died for you to have a better life. carry on his legacy to fight for freedom. it cost life and time doesn’t come for free. tell the world show them you are united get out and protest for haven sake.

  6. I just expected the government investigate why the teacher burnt himself and solve the problem around the area but the report which indicates as the victim is mentally ill is really rediculous and unexpected.God bless Ethiopia and give her a leader who thinks for citizens.
