I am a supporter of the peaceful movement in particular of that of CUD. Apparently, it might be exciting news for many. Although I don’t oppose the spirit of Unity and solidarity, I have some reservations about the speech and remarks given by Dr.Getachew.Dr Getachew, in his speech covered large ground and at times made unwarranted conclusions. I believe Dr.Getachew sounded in his speech more of an OLF supporter than an impartial observer. In fact, at one moment he started his audiences by saying, “I am not exaggerating the success of OLF.” I want to point out the following two points concerning his speech.
First, though he might be a former EPRP member nonetheless the fact remains that, the Dr.is an Economist by profession, and not a political Science expert.Therefor,his political analysis about OLF will be challenged ,in the coming days, by the experts in the field.
Seconed,It is important to know, as he put it himself he gave the speech as a private citizen.Therefore, the weight of his opinion rests not on the merit of vested authority by a particular political party, but as a mere private citizen.
OLF is a doomed organization, tainted in blood, defeated in the battle field, still hungry for power, and yet claiming as a vital organization and hiding under Ginbot 7 and using it as its shield. Whom are you fooling, OLF? OLF means, as everybody knows, Oromo Liberation Front. The Oromo people are free and proud people like the rest of their Ethiopian brothers and sisters. Duped OLF, tell me whom are you going to liberate? You are insulting the Oromo people whom you want to make them free as if they were slaves.
I have never seen in my life such a despicable, bigot, segregationist, and renegade organization called OLF, hated by the Oromo people and dreaded by the rest of the Ethiopian citizens. Ginbot 7, you have no blood in your hand; you have never committed any crime against the Ethiopian people, and most of the Ethiopian people depend on you to democratize them slowly but quickly; therefore, get out of this murderous OLF and stand up on your own feet. Joining OLF means sharing their criminal activities, deceptions, and their final goal – to force Oromo to secede from its own people, the Amharas and the other Ethiopian tribes.
The name Ginbot 7 has a history, a meaning, and an eternal emblem that represents the unjustified deaths of hundreds of innocent Ethiopians. The name OLF represents death because it has murdered so many unarmed civilians, burned numerous peasants’ homes, stolen a number of Kenyan cows, goats, camels and chickens; however, Ginbot 7 represents all Ethiopians, but this fagot OLF represents just a few Orominga speakers. As its separatist name indicates, OLF does not represent Ethiopia. It represents lawlessness, greed, debauchery, and dastardliness. It will never grow, never matured, never learn, and it has always been diffident.
We must all rally behind Ginbot 7, but never behind OLF, a disorganized movement, a movement that has a hidden agenda to dismantle the unity of Ethiopia. No one wants a shredded Ethiopia, a disfigured Ethiopia, and a formless Ethiopia. We want a country full of energy, beauty, prosperity, and undying aspiration to excel the rest of the African nations and to protect its unity by any means and at any cost.
May God tear down the kingdom of OLF and build the kingdom of Ginbot 7! Amen and Amen!

I am not emotional at all. I am telling you and all others who doubt my claim and prediction is to look and observe the reality on the ground at home. The support for independence among all Oromos back home is overwhelming. If a referendum is held now, the ‘yes for independence’ will be more than 80%. Because 80% of the Oromiyaa is already liberated. Go back and see it yourself. Once you ascertain yourself to the people that you are not Woyanne’s boot-licker and then is you give them the choice of living under the rat-face from Tigray or going independent, I guarantee you that they will choose independence. Dr.Nuro Dedefo’s speech is clearly comprhensable; it is delivered with enthusiasm and confidence. Amharic may not be his first language;it is as competitive for the level of expectation that fits such conference. What is TEBTABA about it? You were too harsh in your expectation of mastering a language (which probably was not spoken in his environment as a child) before attaining his Ph. D.
Dr. Birhanu’s message was refreshingly captivating as he connected the dots and also broke down the details on the significance of unity. Your label, “ZEBBARAKEY” does not fit at all. He does mix Amharic and English like many Ethiopians (DEBALAAKEY?). In his case, as some one who is very active delivering speeches around the globe, constructive suggestion makes sense.
I as an Amhara from Debramarkos say that we are not enemies of Oromos and also the Oromos are not enemies of Ahmaras. It was and is the political apparatus which is playing a game with these peoples and others Ethiopians as well. Ato Assta B. Gettu is one of these apparatus who is playing his role to put superirity conplex on Amharas and inferiority conmplex on Oromos and others fellow Ethiopians. Both these complexs are the disease which are internally eating the organs of Ethiopia. I believe that the ill man like Assta B. Gettu does not represent or talk for the sake of Amharas. Each speaker related their message with varied presentation with the common theme of value in unity.
The very “kingdom” you hold in high esteem Ginot 7’s Chairman emphasized the following:
-Let us not be prisoners of history.
-Let us look forward instead of backword.
-The very social-psychology of the people being doubletfull and suspicious puts it at a disadvantage in lacking social capital.
OLF’s EC member and head of legal affair, was stressing the divide and rule method of Woyane. OLF had been blamed rightfully so by many Ethiopians as one of the tools that had made it easier for Woyane. Their man is saying we co-operate with other organizations to stand together.

Your first paragraph requires serious fact checking. To my knowledge, there had been and still is an Ethiopian People Patriotic Front which at some point became an umbrella organization that included Tigrean People Democratic Front, OLF, ONEG and Amhara Democratic Organization (The Tigray and Amhara acronames to that effect and not exactly as put here;it could be researched…).
-From what I remember, a reavealing signs of problems in Asmara was a series of issues ( about five of them) posted on ethiomedia.com prior to the “murder of EPPF’s 17 members”. There was no mention of OLF’s role in teaming with Asmara’s problematic Colonel(Fitsume?) and Intellegence dept.
-Had there ever been Ethiopian Amhara Liberation Front? or do you mean the same EPPF?

Your second paragraph is where most of the truth is. It took 30 years, enough to mold more than one one generation of OLF members. Because all sides have learnt from history, it should not neccessarily be expected to take another 30 years to reverse it. The change could be gradual and its initial attempt for organizing positively with other Ethiopian unity groups should not become an occasion to show bitter gradges ( atleaast hold off that compartment while “peace” seems to be brewing ).
When it comes to language especially, we need to be grateful enough to have such diverse languages and yet united and structured enough to express in one national language no matter what the dialect/regisonal accent as long as the message is communicated. Like most things, it is a process. There are times that, doubt is neccessary, but not be enslaved by it as long as the organizations know what they are doing. It is a meeting among learnt, experienced and at times patriotic minds. Balance is very important and since most of them favour Democracy, utimately the voice of the people will finalize the checks and balance.
Like you said, OLF’s confidence could be the advantage it has with the high numbers of its population and its current effort could be superficial. You can not get the answer by splitting them from Ginbot 7. This is a step forward. You keep up with its development which ever way it will go. True, the 17 young people picked up from the Amhara Democratic Organization while working with the OLF were executed, and 17 of them were Amharas, and no one from the OLF group was killed. Only the Amharas were slaughtered. These well-known veteran Amhara soldiers had been highly respected among the Amharas and the other groups. However, some of the OLF personnel were jealous of the high quality leadership these 17 young Amhara soldiers had been offering to the Ethiopian People Patriotic Front. Out of the blue, some weak-minded OLF members concocted a mysterious plot in collaboration with the notorious Colonel ፍጹም, and they immediately annihilated the 17 young men; then some of the rest of the Amhara soldiers abandoned the organization: many of them went to Wolkait-Tegedie, some to Armacheho and others to Sudan, but the OLF remained in Asmara under a different name. I have no idea where that murderous OLF is now. Whether this OLF who is making a marriage proposal to Ginbot 7 is the same with that OLF in Asmara, I have no clue. When the dust settled down, we will find out who killed the 17 Amhara soldiers and why. Until that time comes, the case will remain closed, and in the mean time I will continue searching the real plotters and the merciless killers.
Some people say, “Rome is not built in one day.” In the same way, OLF is not yet ready even after 30 years of arguing about leadership among its members. Now the leadership argument will pop up between the OLF and the Ginbot 7 organization. If success is the goal of all the opposing organizations, there must be one leader that runs all the opposing organizations. In Amharic language we say: “ባንድ ደብር ሁለት መምሕር; ባንድ ራስ ሁለት ምላስ,” which means one cannot have two highly educated መምሕርስ as leaders in one Church. Only one has to lead as it is impossible to have two tongues in one head.
I have never heard the existence of other Oromo organizations; they may have a better idea to unite Ethiopia than this separatist OLF. If they come up with a good idea, I will join them, but I don’t think there is any Oromo organization that is not yet contaminated with this contagious disease – OLF.
After you have carefully examined my views, you have come to rescue me from my fear – the fear of high numbers the Oromos have; however, in any organization there is sometimes greed for power, and if the leaders of OLF and Ginbot 7 are free of greed for power, they may succeed in leading Ethiopia. Tell me the reason unless the OLF had cooperated with the Asmara regime to single out those 17 Amharas as suspects of opposing the Asmara government. Why did the Asmara government let the Oromos stay in Asmara and give the confiscated properties of the slaughtered Amharas to some of the OLF members as a reward for their cooperation against the young Amhara soldiers? The truth will finally come out, and let us wait patiently until then.
Some of these power-hungry Oromos (OLF) have been dreaming for a long time to change the name of Ethiopia to Abyssinia, Addis Ababa to Finfinne, and many other Ethiopian towns to their regions. Everybody knows the OLF wants to oromize the entire Ethiopia and thereby converting it to Islam, and that is why many Christian Amharas including Oromo Christians reject the OLF aspiration to oromize Ethiopia and establish its Oromo kingdom. Yes, they have the numbers but not the quality; they have the map, but it is an artificial one; they have the flag, but it is a flag with handful followers. Their entire war cry is to put the Amharas under their feet as if the Amharas had been their arch enemies instead of praising them for making them humans and domesticating them gently. The Qaaliu institution is a fake institution invented by the OLF war mongers to claim they have a history of their own. Their history has been a nomadic history, invading other territories, burning houses, killing the inhabitants, and possessing their lands. Their original name had been Galla, and I don’t have any idea why they hate their original name. They think they are more civilized, thanks to the Amharas, now than they were before under the name Galla; therefore, they call themselves Oromo, not Galla any more.
Do really the Oromos have their own cultures outside the Amhara culture, unless it is a culture invented by the OLF for the purpose of distancing itself from the Amharas’ refined culture, a Christian culture? So what is this Qaaliu? Is it a culture of worshipping rats, insects, or crocodiles? What are the main sources of Qaaliu, the Babylonian, the Greek, or the Egyptian goddesses?
The Oromo people have never been revolutionaries in the Ethiopian history, and to say the 1974 revolution was the Oromo’s peasants’ revolution is simply twisting the truth. The Ethiopian army revolted against His Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie and finally killed the internationally and nationally well-respected king, and Ethiopia fell into the hands of bloodthirsty dictators. Since the death of Haile Selassie, Ethiopia has never recovered from its serious wound caused by the Derg, Mengistu Haile Mariam, and Meles Seitanawi. And now to give Ethiopia another fresh wound, the OLF members are working day and night to be the leaders of 90 million Ethiopians. May God forbid their leadership! History will expose the OLF who claim falsely that Oromia had been an independent nation since the 19th century. There is no any reliable document internationally recognized that Oromia was a free country apart from the Ethiopian Christian kingdom.
Selfish people always want recognition, a name for themselves, and that is why there are so many organizations in the name of Oromia, not in the name of Ethiopia. All of them have failed to come together under one leadership and under one name. What is wrong if they all come together, join Ginbot 7, tear down their old map, their old flag, burn their divisive documents, and dismantle their old and different names and be called Ginbot 7?

The claim Oromoia was independent until the end of 19th century is most likely Atse Minilik’s era and their complaint that they were oppressed during his rule.
As I have pointed out, some of the highlights including their role prior to the 1973/74 revolution, there are some manufactured creation especially for Westerners, other influential power, for the youth and others to be drawn to its “might”. This also includes their claim on wealth of raw material, precious mineral, gold etc which in the first place is not their ownership.

It is good you comformed that none of the major web sites related the murder of the 17 to OLF. The mystery of that murder had remained under the rug. Assta could be annoying at times; but he has raised provocative questions especially the fact that all of them are from the same ethnic group.
Most likely I could be wrong that EPPF was an umbrella organization for TDF, ONEG, OLF and ADF (the tigray and Amhara acronames close enough ). At some point, they did merge to form a union and it might have had a name. It seems most of the Amhara members were in EPPF. From what I remember,some of those killed were in the Executive Committee.
