Deutsche Welle Amharic Service reports that 40,000 residents of Ethiopia’s southern town of Awassa have been asked to vacate their homes. The Woyanne ruling junta’s local puppet administration issued the order saying that the houses the residents own have been built without proper permits. It’s reported that several residents who have voiced opposition to the measure are being rounded up and arrested. Listen the report below [Amharic].

In principle, I don’t agree that such steps should not be taken at all times. I had witnessed such steps being taken in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and including Japan. But most of these countries had given such squatters alternatives with amicable compensations. Some of them just evicted such tenants by force. You should remember that some of such squatters have taken residence at such places sometimes by forcing previous owners out during the Derg era and after the current goon came to power. Some of such squatters may have been living there longer than that. What I denounce it now is how the current goon and his cohorts are conducting the eviction. They will drive out the residents by brute force going as far as killing anyone standing on their way. Then they will sit down munch down the spoils after the carnage is over. Ms Piggy ‘Rotsmella’ will get or give her Harem cabals a lion’s share and other boot lickers will get some of the crumbs. That is why I detest such measure as a sickness now.
As long as this GOVT wants to sell any land to any investor they will find some excuse to vacate the people
which have there for a while i don’t understand this leadership also according to the interview the guy who
work in the GOVT office was saying their house been built ILLEGAL . This statement is hard to understand
because if it was illegal why is it the permit given to them and they have been paying taxes for many years
and here is the big question where do they go now ? do this GOVT have any humanity about any body who
lives in the country ? this are poor people what choice do they have ? I think the world is about to END…
The law in the woyane regime is applied not for the purpose of deterring crime, but for the purpose of stealing money and revenge. Now they want to sell the land and make money. And they don’t care for thousands of citizens who lose their livelihood.
I have no pity.if the people do not rise up they deserve all that they get from ethnic fascists.
If it is for re devilopment how carese we do’need shanity house
We will take it back sooner or later. “Whatever you plant is what you’ll harvest.”
No one is immuned from the tyriny of TPLF party. Some day in the near future the cumulative effect of all this kind of cruelty will drive the oppressed majority to th tipping point of reclaiming liberty. No greter force of change than a people who have nothing to lose.
There is nothing new Melese came to occupy conquer and destroy. The former generation who served the Mengistu regime his cadres and members of so called Ethiopian Workers Party, transferd our country to the hand of Weyane. It is also the generation of Mengistu who continue to bleed Ethiopia. They seem to spent their time fighting for their self interest than for the country.Largly It is, due to, the dis unity we sow among us that give Melese to opportunity to consolidate his power in the past 20 years. This inept attitude among many allow the same to sell the fertile land to foreigners, demolish houses in Awassa, loot the hard cash gained from land lease, coffee, gold and minerals. What is next, which city residents will be tossed out to the streets to make room and a methodical financial transfer for cash starved Melese Empire?
There is no doubt in my mind so long Ethiopians choose to close their eyes and tolerate the destructive policy of Zenawi, you might as well hang it, forget about Ethiopia. Many of our people are shallow, insesitive and pretentious. There is, of course, exception to the rule.
Check this piece below by this guy, some one whom I have never heard or read about before. All of a sudden he shows interest to write this piece, my chief disagreement with him is not why he aired his opinion, but this. As he appear to me a first time contributor what promotes him to write this piece at this moment?.
I can be wrong but I believe it is an attempt to scare Ethiopians not to consider uprising in the coming days. There are many grass snakes in the midst of us; it is hear aching to see this happening to my country.
“First they came for the trade unionists,
and I did not speak up because I am not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the socialists,
and I did not speak up because I am not a socialist.
Then they came for the communists,
and I did not speak up because I am not a communist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I did not speak up because I am a protestant.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I did not speak up because I am not a Jew.
Then finally they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak for me.”

to vacate 40,000 people from thier residential area, which they have been there for 15 years,to no where is a crime, against humanity, destryoing the feeling and spirit of unity amongst the ppl of ethiopia by sending fear. This time all shoul rise up and defend.Ofcourse there is no a good flow of information accross the country to be together(all the societies of the country) and defend this action b/c it will happen to other regions and places as long as woyane want to wealth his pandas and cadres to strengthen his power to destroy ethiopia.I dont know why the ppl turn their face away from woyane and be one nation and march against woyane.how long will ethiopians suffer from this ethinically structured regime’s ruling rilm.each and every one of ethiopians should be as an ethiopian and stand up for the betterment of one ethiopia.DEFEAT FOR WOYANE,VICTORY FOR THE PPL OF ETHIOPIA.RISE UP ETHIOPIANS TOGETHER NOT INDIVIDUALLY!!!!!!
Where were they when the people was beulding this places ? Why now? And do we realy beuld our houses with a permit in Ethiopia most of the time?
