(APA) — The Ethiopian Woyanne army is ready to fight and conclude a war with Eritrea “in a very short time and with little cost”, a high ranking military official said on Wednesday.
Major General Seare Mekonnen, head of the Ethiopian Woyanne southern army, said the Ethiopian Woyanne army has been making preparations to safeguard the country the Meles crime family from any aggression from Eritrea.
“If Eritrea wants to be involved in war with our country, the army is ready to finalize the war in a very short time and with little cost,” said Mekonnen said.
He was speaking at the commemoration of the Ethiopian millennium by the army in northern Ethiopia in the presence of Ethiopian Prime Minister fascist dictator Meles Zenawi.
Ethiopia Woyanne and Eritrea fought a bloody border war in 1999 in which over 70,000 150,000 troops from both sides were reported to have died.

Both Eritrean and Ethiopian leaders have failed to live up to the expectations of their respective constituencies. Conflicting political interests and lack of trust among Oromos, Amharas, Somalis and Tigrayans keep hindering Ethiopia’s national unity and economic progress. Like the leaders before him, Meles has failed in cracking this dilemma. Ethnic based politics may not be avoidable, but its negative effects in nation building can be minimized, in my opinion, if the people of the different Ethiopian nationalities begin to live and think differently – respecting each other and dying a little in the interest of the common good.
Meles is wrong if he thinks he will solve his country’s problems by engaging in another war with Eritrea. Isayas is also misguided if he believes he is helping the Ethiopian people and their unity by pitting one Ethiopian ethnic group against another.
We can capture Asmara within 6 hrs of time. But at this moment there is no need to launch a war against Eritrea.

In 1998, when Weyane leader (and folks, please don’t refer this scum of the earth as Eritrean) and his gangs falsely accused Eritrea of invading “Ethiopian land” and called on Ethiopians to attack Eritrea, many, if not all, people fell for it and sided with his evil army in what was known as a most senseless and destructive war.
Ten years forward, due to Woyane’s lack of disregard to the rule of law, the physical demarcation of the border between
the two countries has yet to be realised. Another indication on how reckless Woyane is running Ethiopia is the unilateral decision to invade Somalia in 2006 to appease the Western powers, thus creating another annomousity and hatred with the Somalia people.
On the positive note, it’s refreshing to see that today, unlike 1998, most peace-loving Ethiopians do not want to take any part in the Wayane’s present or future plans designed to cause more human sufferings and, in the process, desintegrate Ethiopia further.

As Matti said it well, about 200,000 innocent combatants perished, more than half a million people got displaced and only God knows how much of the donated money was squandered to make the arms merchants of death even richer. following the agreement signed by the leaders of the two countries
in Algiers, the EPRDF [Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Front,
ruling coalition] government has begun announcing names of the
dead soldiers to their families… Apart from condoling the families
of the dead soldiers, the first phase announcement letters, which
are signed by the head of the ground forces personnel department,
Lt-Col Akalu Kebede, do not mention any future benefits for the families. We
reported last week that the families will only get 3,000
birr each and pensions. Although most of the soldiers died in the
last one or two years, their families have been receiving remittances
on a pretext that the soldiers were alive. In principle, a soldier’s
remittances are supposed to continue only for six months after he
died. Insiders say that the payments were made in a bid to conceal
the deaths. Meanwhile, several families have been able to know the fate of
their children since the announcements began.
In its broadcast last Sunday [8 April], the Voice of the Democratic
Path of Ethiopian Unity reported that the number of dead soldiers
had reached 123,000. This number indicates how heavy, ghastly
and horrifying the war was.
