The TPLF-junta controlled Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) reported today that Ethiopian Airlines CEO Girma Wake has been replaced by Tewolde G. Mariam.
The news doesn’t indicate why Seyoum Mesfin, chairman of Ethiopian Airlines’ board, decided to replace Girma, who has been a successful CEO.
Up to now, Ethiopian Airlines has been one of the few major institutions in the country who has not been run by a Woyanne Tigrean. The ethnic apartheid regime will not rest until nothing left in the country that is not controlled by one party and one ethnic group.
Tewolde G. Mariam is a relative of Seyoum Mesfin and is said to be a hard core Woyanne who has been preparing himself take over Ethiopian Airlines by working under Girma Wake as chief operating officer.

There are lots to syphon from Ethiopian Airlines and should be under the control of a loyal woyane to loot and prepare it to the division of property between the newly independate state of Greater Tigrai (if their dream is realized) and the rest of the country.
It is understandable that there is age limit for each us to quite any place for the next generation and it’s healthy decision from healthy and exceptional leader/manager/ keeping the Ethiopian airlines on track during this painful economic situation and spoiled (like rotten egg) Ethiopian politics.

I heard few years ago from insiders of the company (like leader of one department) one person has been in cultivation for many years and his progress was so poor and remains headache for the TPLF/EPRDF. And I was also told that this individual is from family of SYOUM MESFIN, FOREIGN MINSTER ….and the new name ”Tewelde” may justify the old info I had ….

I don’t know Mr Girma but I kind of like him. The way he presented EAL during the Labanon Ethiopian Aircraft accident was commendable. Otherwise, if you see the trend weyane is following; one can tell that their days are numbered. Unfortunately, their #1 life support are the ones who are amidst us embezzling money from oranizations such as EPPF. I don’t want to mention anything about Mr Hailue Shawel and such.
The guy could well be “Qualified” for the position. The question still remains did Ato Girma ask to be relieved? Even if that was the case, why does the thugs in Addis chose to replace him with one of their own? There are no qualified Ethiopians that can run EAL other than the Weyane clan?

I was one of employee EAL and classmate of TEWALDE at addis ababa university in the early 90s (extension program). He is an opportunist and corrupt person. He was the best friend of seye abraha, who was then board chairman of EAL. When SEYE tried to restructure the airline by firing most senior managers, he used that as opportunity. Most of us left the country… we didn’t want to pick a fight we could not win. The only person who stayed with him is BUSERA AWOL, but systemically they sent him Togo Airlines to clear the road for tewolde.
Guys I truly believe we need our own tea party Ethiopian movement for all people. We need to get our beloved country back big time. Enough is enough. T
This has been beyond expectation. Those who have been around there knew it very well. Tewolde has been under study for more than a decade. Weyane once made a grave mistake by the name of restructuring,when replacing the former management by a group of laymen of pro-weyanes which led to bancrupcy of the Airlines. Seye Abraham had been the leader of the evil group, followed by Tekeste. They imposed the restructuring proces while the entire Employees of Ethiopian Airlines opposed it. Since then Tewolde has been the next option for Weyanizing the Airlines. They were waiting until they think he is ready. I believe Wake must have known this before hand that he was appointed primarily to couch Tewolde. The new position, Vice CEO did not exist before. It has been opened for him to be closer to the CEO than the others. Most of the EO positions have been filled by Weyanes.
I am not surprised. The war has been lost much earlier than we realized it.
The solution is simple: STOP FLYING THE ETHIOPIAN AIR LINES. They are trying to make it woyane airlines, and rip the Airlines off, like anything else in Ethiopia. LONG LIVE ETHIOPIA.
If we abandon EAL and use other carriers, the losers are the employees of EAL, not Wayane.

As a pilot on B757/767 I knew Tewolde a long time ago when he used to bring us Cargo Manifest and Freight documents for our Cargo flights. Relatively new, shy and clerk like position, he used to go back and forth from that tent like make-shift cargo Terminal. I have a vivid memory… the kid was nobody. Ato Girma was then at the Commercial/Cargo Department with wide experience and eventually I remember he left for the Emirates for more responsibility. Put that on a scale!
Tewolde was just a number in the airline. I definitely know Ato Girma would never have known his name if had met him then. After the Woyanne Tigrean ethnic apartheid took control of the country of course most of us left our beloved country. Seyom Mesfin distributed the whole airline key post to his relatives, friends and they even said to his old neighbors. The kid Tewolde is one of those lucky ones. When I first saw him in Washington DC airport in the beginning of 2000, surprisingly I asked him what he was doing there. He said that he was the Station Manager. It is time we start accepting some hard cold facts. Woyanes are Tigrays.
Tigrays control the country’s economy. We will never know how much money and resources is stolen, embezzled, or signed away until it is too late. With people like them, always expect the worst.
Tigryas control the country’s military. Most of the best of the military hardware is in Tigrai. Most of the best and relevant (technological) training has been going to Tigrays.
We have an idea of what happened to our land in western Ethiopia- sold to Sudan. But we only have an idea. We don’t know the extent. We don’t know exactly how much of our borders is current. We don’t know the exact deal as far as the Nile is concerned. They probably have sold it to Egypt through a document we don’t know about. To Woyanes, selling the rights to the Nile is the only way that will ensure the Amhara people will stay weak or be destroyed in a world where water is short.
These people are the ones we see every day. They look like just another “Ethiopian.” But their mindset is changed long time ago. They will even sometimes wear the green, yellow, red. But in reality, their allegiance is to that TPLF flag. They live and breath for Tigrai.
Whether we like it or not, we must come to term with these facts. We were all duped all these years. Our plight will keep on going unless we accept the reality on the ground.
Why don’t you see Tigrays protesting against TPLF? We are bloody fools. Under the false idea of “Ethiopia” we patron their business and include them in our social functions. We are our own enemy. Even if TPLF is somehow removed, these people will never lay down. What are we expecting? We are not in touch with reality. The people of Tigrai (even if they oppose TPLF) will never be ruled by a non-tigray Ethiopian government.
How long will we cheat ourselves saying TPLF does not represent the people of Tigrai? TPLF is the result of the Banda mentality of the Tigray elite that endures to this day. That mentality will never go away.
It is time to start coming to reality and start speculating the end game. To prevent bloodshed, we all must mobilize by a strict code of conduct towards ethnic Tigrays.
Break any friendship you have with Tigrays.
Don’t be a customer to Tigray owned businesses.
Don’t include Tigrays in your social functions.
Make it COMPLETELY known that we are where we are, and we will not play the Yilugnta game that will burn all of us.
This is a gradual takeover of Woyanes to hold firmly all important positions and authorities. This is also a timely calculated design to exploit the property of Ethiopia.
Woyanes have sincerely struggled to liberate Tigre from power discrimination by former regimes. The land of Tigre was exploited by its own feudal lords as well as Balabats. In spite of this they claim to have the lion’s share in the every aspect of governance of Ethiopian state.

I am in the travel business here in the US and know Twelde when he was assigned as a marketing manager for EAL in New York. Later, he was assigned as head of marketing for the airline in Addis. I met him several times on business matters and the guy is an empty suite. It was the talk of town that some of the travel agencies in the US were paying him handsomely for giving them deep discounts on EAL tickets; some travel agents sold EAL tickets to the tune of half a million bucks and never compensated the airline; they split the ill gotten fund with Twelde. I heard the rumor that he was going to get the CEO post in the near future but never believed it, but what did I know? There is no limit for Woyane’s shame.
Mr. Girma Wake, whom I met on several occasions, was a well qualified individual who rose through the ranks at EAL and later took a senior position at Gulf Air before he landed the GM position at EAL. The airlines had expanded tremendously under his leadership and now all bets are off. This is indeed a sad news for the airlines and the nation as well. Then, what would one expect from gang of murderers who claim to have won the last election by 99.6 percent?

I would like to add on “Tola and Capt.” comments . I am not reciting a fiction . I am insider I have this to say. I had reserved my self to comment on Weyannes destructive actions and ethnic moves. Who is Tewolde? This moron is a puppet who has been trained for this position not by Girma, but by Seyoum Mesfin. He is his relative and also his eyes and ears in the airline. Mesfin seyoum moves to assign him at the New York station we all know what happened at the NY station. It was closed due to mismanagement and several safety and procedural violation. Yes his weyanne supporters might say NY is not profitable for ET.An airport where one airplane takes off every 2 minutes? He destroyed that Station. Then they assigned him at the Washington Dulles station. What had happened there you all know. The station became “BEG TERA.” ET had so much complain that it was loosing customers left and right. ET handed that post to more qualified guy who still on crutches but does better than the big Moron. Oh yeah he brags that he has an MBA, but folks the whole community knows while he was destroying those 2 stations some one else was taking his classes online for him. He was not even on that position for 2 month before they prepared a position that ET never had and never needed. He was anointed as the COO and this is the time where they told Mr. Girma that he is his replacement. Folks I am not barking or writing a fiction. You all have seen an airline structure around the world. How in hell in their right minds could they assign a guy who has no knowledge of flying, maintenance, engineering, HR, commercial and Finance as a COO? When weyanes arrived in Addis 19 years ago, they had image problems. Ato Girma managed Bahrain Airline before coming to Ethiopian. Before taking over Ethiopian he has asked the government not to interfere in his operations leading to one of the most successful airline on the continent. This news is a start of the fall for the airline. Ethiopian is successful not because we flew ET but it’s highly skilled and talented high rank management.
