Japan bans Meles from G8 dinner party

EDITOR’S NOTE: He deserves it. G8 leaders rightly think that his place is outside the door begging for crumbs.

(RTTNews) — The G-8 leaders have sparked outrage after it was revealed they feasted on sumptuous food consisting of a six-course lunch followed by an eight-course dinner at the G-8 summit where the global food crisis was one of the topics high on the agenda.

Just hours after stressing that they were “deeply concerned” over rising food prices and supply shortages, and urging the world to reduce the “unnecessary demand” for food, the leaders of the eight industrialized nations were served 24 different lavish dishes by their Japanese host during their first day at the summit.

Ironically, leaders from Africa — where some of the world’s poorest nations exist — including the heads of Ethiopia, Tanzania and Senegal, who had taken part in the talks, were excluded from the feast organized by the Japanese government in Hokkaido, according to media reports.

The dinner consisted of 18 dishes in eight courses, including caviar, smoked salmon, Kyoto beef and a “G8 fantasy dessert”. Five different wines from around the world, including champagne, a French Bourgogne and sake accompanied the banquet.

The dinner came just hours after a “working lunch” consisting of six courses, including white asparagus and truffle soup, crab and a supreme of chicken.

British opposition politicians and charities have lashed out at the extravagant dishes served out amid growing concern over rising food prices triggered by a shortage of many basic commodities that have led to food riots in many countries.

Dominic Nutt, of Britain’s Save the Children, said Tuesday it is deeply hypocritical of G-8 leaders that they should be indulging in such lavish feast when there is a food crisis and millions cannot afford a decent meal to eat in a day.

Andrew Mitchell, the shadow International Development Secretary, also acknowledged the G-8 has got off to an inappropriate start to its summit, with excessive cost and lavish consumption.

“Surely it is not unreasonable for each leader to give a guarantee that he will stand by their solemn pledges of three years ago at Gleneagles (Scotland) to help the world’s poor.”

  1. Not all woyane is chigaram.
    Not all woyane is fascistic.
Not all woyane supports what TPLF does now.

It is bad to generalise particularly in politics is becomes racist rant!!

  2. The issue is not how many dishes they have eaten, but do they want to deal with the issue really, it is not understood, year after year they talk, african leaders do the same thing and make the problem worse. That is like joking.

They can have 1000 dishes, they can, but do they want to deal with the issue of poor africans, I doubt. Most african leader are responsible for the problems, no one tells them.

Gook Luck Africa, maybe, maybe one day.

  3. What a difference does it make to Ethioipa? Meles was shrugging shoulder to shoulder with them while they were criticising Mugabe. The G8 should have sent clear message to all African dictators by involving the few elected leaders to actively solve the continents problem. If the G8 choose to invite their own Mugabe (Meles) and criticise the other one, this is shame, hypocracy and double morale.

  4. It is a good start and news if it is true that butgcher of Addis Abeba, the bloody enemy of africa is excluded from dinner and other activities. It is time all freedom people of Africa tells the truth about the bloody buther and blood thirsty banda meles zenawi`s genocide and crimes against humanity.
G.W.Bush will soon disappear from the world`s political arena and goes bach where he belongs, in the jungle leaving Africa in peace, we are sure the bloody butcher of Addis will follow to hell where he belongs.

    Gentlemen and friends, thank you.

  6. Elias , When Meles banned from the dinner he said it was a work of oppositions specifically collaborated by UDJ and G7. So he talks about his plan that he will expose another 15 million people to a severe famine along with un affordable life to other millions of people as soon as he gets back to Ethiopia. Meles also said he is very smart in destructing and damaging Ethiopia. Meles has also recommends the leaders of Tanzania and Senegal to take a part in making so many crimes on their people as he does everyday. Fianlly, Meles said that he misses so much of his atrocities that is doing in Ethiopia while he is in Tokyo. Actually he said ” I cant wait to get back to kill more civilians”

Death to Meles and all idiot members and supporters of Weyane.

  7. It is high time to stop interacting and supporting a dictator who has been and still commiting domestic and international genocides and ruling only by the power of the gun alone over the wretched and constantly starving population.

The money he is now begging is only for buying arms to kill the same wretched and already starving poor Ethiopian population, promote developments in his own ethnic Tigray region for his power base and support back bone. That is also why Tigrians generally support the dictator because they are the major beneficieries of the shooting and the looting.

Wayanes prefer to oppose Eritrea and point fingers at some 5 million people in order to divert attention from their own dictator’s shooting and looting of 80 million Ethiopians and some 12 million Somalis.

Bravo! the good EU provided Eritrea with funds and should do the same even in the future rather than promoting Wayane minority facism . Eritrea did not commit genocide which the Wayanes did large scale genocide on the Amharas, Oromos, Sidamas, Gembellas, Somalis, etc. Ethiopians.

Just look at how Wayane secret arm Ethiomedia web site is crying with tears when 5 million good Eritreans are given some token support from the EU.

The headline that reads on Ethiomedia,”Eritreans angry over EU aid to Isaias Afewerki” should, “Wayanes angry over EU aid to Isaias Afewerki.”

  8. Elias,
Do you really understand what you read or do you see all that you want to see? Why did you single out Meles Zenawi while other African leaders were also NOT invited?
It is always entertaining to read what your “followers” the likes of Qobo and Helen Abebe write.Funny people!
    A BLIND leading the blinds!!!!!!!!!!

  9. The butcher was telefoning to Addis Abeba to become “Tiresiga” since he was deprived of dinning and winning with his superiors. What a shame!

“Rasu tewardo ager yemiaward merri Ethiopia siagatmat”. Eske metche?

It is a pity that we Ethiopians tolerate such a stupid group to reign over our digniy and honour.
We have to remove him and his associates as soon as possible. Otherwise we are perpetuating the suffering of our people voluntarily.
    I’m serious.

  10. The change Africans want is not up to G8 countries. It is up us to say no and unit not to lick their behind like dogy Meles does.
These G8 leaders are not angels but who want to be in a dinner table with Meles in front of a camera, a leader more spiteful to his own people than them. .
    Regards,

  11. Editor;
I would have respected you a litle bit if you have deleted the one written by Qobo above. Do you have expalnation/ Is that also part of the struggle for ethiopia?

  12. When Meles entered Addis, he said he would guarantee every ethiopian to have 3 meals a day within 10 years. Unfortunately now 18 years later, his dogs may have probably more than that but not the majority people of the nation. We are in fact plunged to a more deeper misery than we were. Meles, it is time to leave the office. Give the country a fresh air! Let Ethiopia give others an opportunity to lead her! You are an insult to Tigray primarily and to the rest of Ethiopia. Sayzerut yebeqele, hafrete-bis. Leba, shewati-hager! I pity your kids who will cary your shameful work for the rest of their lives. Just like the work of the Devil brought to this earth thistles and thorns, your shameful work will leave thistles and thorns to the coming Ethiopian generations.

  13. If he were there for the 19-course banquet dinner at food crisis summit, you would have accused him of having to eat 19-course of meals while his people are starving. I am glad he and all African leaders were absent from the lavish 19-course banquet dinner party.

  14. Not as exciting as I thought. I thought they excluded meles for his subhuman actions. According to the article, the organizers excluded leaders of poor nations, including Tanzania, which is a simbol of democracy in Africa. They took this action to send a message that they should not participate in the feast while their people are dying in hunger. I wish they isolate only the brutal leaders to send a strong message.

  16. Let me share this with you. “Elias don’t delete this please”

from yesterday’s Toronto Sun Peter Worthington wrote this . . .

“Western countries have difficulty accepting that aid is not a solution to poverty. Self-help is.

A dozen years ago, President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea told the leaders of the Organization of African Unity (now renamed the African Union) that their greatest enemies were not former colonial powers or the state of Israel, but their own greed, corruption, and tribalism which is racism. Afwerki condemned their limousines, nepotism and lavish lifestyles — attending conferences while neglecting their people and blaming former colonial powers for their own leadership failings.

It did not make him popular. But it was true.

It is something the G8 countries should take note of.”

  17. it hurts too much to be exluded from such respected dinner party. what i do not understand is why did they invite them to the meeting in the first place? it is unfair if what you report here is in fact done to these presidents.

look closely, kikwate stands this year more closer to bush, meles even closer because he had shed blood for him. i do not think they did this to them. it is just your creation.

imagine that you get invited to a wedding party and the buttler gives you no bones of that bird, like one did to me long time a go,it hurts.

i can believe you if they had done that to mugabe because brown was bitter and at times wanted to cry to bush to echo him on his stand on mugabe.

  19. It is an insult to Africa in general. I am happy to see the Agazi leader got embarrassed. But the question is what if we had a democratically elected government, say from Kinigit. It would happen to him/her too. So, what happened in Japan is a clear message that we Africans need to revist our postion in the global politics. We need to show the world we are equally cable of achiving goals and work for the betterment of the world. And, we need to back up our claim by a tangible achiviement. Currently we have not yet earned that credibility. We got nothing to put on the table. We are just waiting for something from some one. In such a position, we can’t complain that we are discriminated from a lavish dinner for which we have had no contribution.

  20. If the Africans were left out from the dinner, they should challenge the Japs for discrimination – but since they all beggars they could be waiting for the crams outside. As for the Banda Meles – he is a disgrace for the whole human race – the G8 know him too well – the problem with these tplf gangs is they are not aware what the world think about them – it is an open secret that they are labelled as organized thieves especially after the gold mess and the national bank – they thought to leave the nation empty handed when they were to skip town after the election. Unfortunelty, they won’t go too far since every penny they have stolen since they took power is traceable.

  21. Kelawach!!! Kelawach!!! Kelawach stay outside until we finish eating!!!! What did do you with a bag of basmati rice I sent you last week? (This is Mr. Brown asking Meles who is standing at the door begging to come inside). kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elias..you are a real patriot and you can be very funny too!!! I am glad you put this one out to show the behavior of this gate-crasher!!!!!

  24. MR. Qobo said it all.
you have to respect this guy or girl for telling the truth this web sight Or Mr. Elias has always been about expressing his hatred for tigrians and of course the chigaram zer
well you heard it. I hope from now on Mr. Elias will stop calling the tigrians woyanne and call them with their real names the CHIGARAM ZEROCH .
Just watch and learn FROM THE REAL MEN.and you know who they are.
As Mr. Qobo I like your guts however STUPID.
But we got something that nobody can never take away and that is our humanity and our pride.

  25. What is the point?Just because they do not eat 18 courses of lunch the world’s hunger is not going to disapear. The japanes has every right to treat their guests the way they like.

  26. Japan was saying to Meles Zenawi: “First let the children – the other G8 members – eat all they want, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toes it to their dogs – the Meles and the other African leaders who were excluded from the dinner.”

When Japan said this harsh word to Meles Zenawi, the beggar, Meles should have said to Japan politely: “Yes, my Lord, but even the dogs under that table eat the children’s crumbs.”

Then impressed by this type of response, Japan would have said to Meles: “For such reply you may go to Ethiopia; the demon has left your wife Azeb.” I’m just using Jesus’ words to the Syrophoenician Woman (Mark 7:27-29) to explain the embarrassing situation between Japan and Meles Zenawi.

  27. I am wondering if you could speak , write and understand the basic English (not Amharic ). if u don’t at all,you are really brilliant Ethiopian or ERI..or X. for finding news related with and understand in your way.On the other scenario ( as you claim), a man with college attending experience,if you let me… i may call you Mr. Fallacy guy. you have a problem of developing arguments to support your conclusion or the message you want to deliver. Be smart..the way you try to convince your ideas at the moment is working against you. Have you heard in the rummer in the city ..about the so called “Eli conclusion” .you better ask your friends to tell you(joro lebalebetu ….)

i know you will not posted it but by the time you read this i have already achieved what i want.

    take care

  28. Qobo,

In your twisted world, you are insulting Tigrians under the banner of “bashing dictator meles”. It is one thing to insult criminal Meles but totaly different thing to insult Tigrians. No ethinic group in Ethiopia belongs to misery except when missery is imposed on them which is the case to most of the ethinic groups in Ethiopia. Most of the hardships and miseries in Ethiopia are absolutly man made therefore, you can’t blame Tigrians for having lived in misery and for still living in misery as well as in poverty. Please refrain from posting such cruel comments b/c you know it is not true and it has no place in our society.

  29. #41,

Be fair when you are talking about Basic English!

It seems you are the one who needs to learn Basic English according to your writing that lacks agreement of verbs, capitalization, and punctuation.

You wrote: “I know you will not posted it but by the time you read this i have already achieved what i want.”

Correction: I know you will not post it, but by the time you have read this, I will have achieved what I wanted.

  30. I agree with Elias:
“He deserves it. G8 leaders rightly think that his place is outside the door begging for crumbs.”
What do Ethiopians expect? “drom ye lemagn lij” said my an Ethiopian. The beggar went to beg for more money and wheat and he was sent outside of the banquet hall infront of the gate where he belongs. Typical maferia woyanie slave.
The Woyanie slaves have humilated not only Ethiopia but the whole African race. werada Woyanie!

  31. It is sad to see some African leaders like Meles to see white ppl like Angel and just humulated by them every single day. By the way Meles must stop bieng the slave of the west and concentrate within his country if he has one. But, it has been unfortunate to see Ethiopian leaders to be beggers and sho-shiners of the west from day one. The unfortuante nation is desperately needs some one who can lead her with out a hand out what is left over from the dinner table of the westerners.

  32. ….does it it matter how many dishes they are having? i don’t care about what’s on thir dinner table…they are not going to give us solutions…. we(Africans) have to be responsible for what’s happeing in our nation blameing others won’t solve the problem…..wake up ppl

  33. Dear Elias,
Well the image the heading of the article want to portray is well off the agenda being discussed. I think you are stretching the facts too much to create a causal relationship between exclusion of Meles from G8 dinner and his mode of governance. Obviously the comments you have received support this fact, people reading your article are not wasting any time and space to jump on the Meles critic’s wagon. Notwithstanding his misdeeds and despotism, I think it is better to stick to the issues relevant to the article, which were ostensibly global food inflation and the rich man’s club. More could and should be said and discussed about these compelling problems; also issue of leadership can be addressed in the same framework. However, you will jeopardize your credibility ,if the public perceives that you are hate mongering demagogues that are out to disparage Meles no matter what. Do not sidestep core substances for the sake of hitting a target at the peripherals.
