The planned meeting this week in the U.S. between representatives of the legitimate Ethiopian Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod that is currently in exile and the illegal synod that is in Addis Ababa has failed before it even started.
The Holy Synod has issued a press release explaining why the McLean, Virginia, meeting did not occur. Click here to read.

Thanks Elias for the inf.
I am pleased with their final decisions. To begin with, our Church Elders shouldn’t have wasted their time to meet with any one that is associated with the Woyanewe Aba Diabolose and Meles. Aba Diabolose has proven himself to be a selfish ungodly worldly man that cares only for himself, and will never do anything in the best interest of EOC.
I honestly think that Aba Diabelose might have dropped dead or he is on his last days. I sincerely, wish Aba Diabelowe all the hell in the world for the sake of our people and our Church.
I will say no to concession with aba diablos Geberemedhin leadership no mater what.cos His not fit spiritually to lead 40 million Ethiopian rthodox tewahedo…

Dear Jegnaw Ethiopiawe #2,
Aren’t the other 40 million Ethiopians Christians too? If they are not, what are they doing in the Christian land of Ethiopia?
Those who welcome the on-going division among EOTC leaders is not aware of the fact that such an environment of disunity is not only spiritually inappropriate but also of benefit only to Ethiopia’s enemies who wish to keep us at loggerheads with each other.
We need to pray to the Almighty to bring peace and unity within our beloved church and country.
EOTC Mi’imenan should, in particular, play a vigorous role by insisting that the contending parties withdraw their respective condemnation (Wugzet) and unite.
For further information on how to support the above cause, please visit: http://www.eotcipc.org.
Assta may be the land on which they live does not belong to Ethiopia.
I do not know where Ethiopian review has unearthed from and gave life a Cryptozoic fossil like you.
I support the decision taken by the legal Synod in exile. Nobody will expect truth and honesty from Aba Diabilos.
FUA #6,
Don’t you know Elias Kifle is also a geologist, not only a journalist?
One day, early in the morning, while he was jogging and thinking about a disturbing article he had to edit, he suddenly descried a strange creature he had never seen before, and that amazing creature dates back to the Precambrian time. The creature was in fact Mr. Assta B. Gettu, and that is how Elias Kifle found me and gave me life, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness on this web site. LOL!
Back to the main point: If the land these 40 million people are living on does not belong to Ethiopia, on whose land are they living then? And if they are not Christians, who are they?

the Key word is spiritual leadership… not the people of Ethiopia.
principle be for personality…. so separate truth and fiction.knowing the bible and knowing about God are two different thing.u know the bible but u dont know God.until u love God with all Ur heart with all Ur mind and love Ur neighbour as u love yourself i dont want anything to hear from u my brother.loving God and Ethiopians it souled be Ur 1st Aime.
Love from Jegnaw Ethiopiawe.
EOTC is not divided the only division is the division of Woyane appointed leadership of Aba Diablos and the rest of the mercenaries of that leadership nothing else.
Neither the former Patriarch who abandoned the sheepfold and fled nor the sitting one who gives absolutely no care represents the church, and therein lies the great tragedy for us, Ethiopians, and the world at large.

I agree with the above comment100% I would also add that if these two former and current patriarch love god and Ethiopa, they both need to step down and help us find a very spritual patriarch that is not controversial and loved by many. If they do this they are noble. One doesnt need to go far, just look at some of the the scary comments above and you will see how we are possessed by the demons. The church needs to solve its problem immediately and help the confused, hateful, greedy, blood thirty, snitch and cruel which is the result of being possessed by the devil.
Jegnaw Ethiopiawe #9,
What is the benefit of spirituality without the people? What is the advantage of building Mosques or Churches without first having the people? Which comes first, the egg or the chicken? What is the truth and what is the fiction? Can you explain what a spiritual leadership is? Is it our spiritual leadership that takes us to heaven, or is it the grace of God that helps us inherit the Kingdom of God? It is very easy to post anything that comes into your head, but it is very hard to explain it to the readers. You mentioned a very important topic, i.e. spiritual leadership, but you failed to explain what spiritual leadership is; you failed to elaborate what fiction is, and you failed to clarify what truth is? Also, why did you change your screen name from Jegnaw Gonderie to Jegnaw Ethiopiawe? Are you ashamed of being a Gonderie? Every village, town, city, and localities in Ethiopia have their own Jegnas or heroes, but you don’t want to be a Gonderie’s Jegna.
#9 and #10,
You are absolutely right. Just because someone knows all the Bible verses from Genesis to Revelation…doesn’t make him/her a better Christian than others. If one doesn’t have love and care for all humanity, regardless who they are, Christianity is meaningless.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed them.
I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd. For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again; this charge I have received from my Father.” – The Gospel of John ቅዱስ ዮሃንስ

My dear tt7 #11,
I cannot wait until that glorious time you envisioned ushered in, and we all Ethiopian Christians will enjoy our one faith, one baptism, one bishop, and one Christian kingdom, undivided, unshaken, undisputed, and well recognized all over the world. That day will be here after the wrath of God on the Ethiopian people, particularly on the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, has been mitigated through the prayers and fasting of our holy men and through the penitence of the Ethiopian people for not raising their voices and protecting the aging Emperor from being humiliated and finally killed in the hands of criminal tugs. Even if he might have made some mistakes, he should not have been treated that way.
I agree with you the Ethiopian people should have the right to appoint their own spiritual leader uncontaminated with the present two warring patriarchs and their factions. Spiritual leadership is for spiritual people who are ready to scarify their lives for the Church, not only for those who ran away from fear of future imprisonment, persecution, and death. What is a spiritual leadership? A spiritual leadership is a special gift from the Almighty God to those individuals whom God wants them to be the leaders of his Church. These people are the ones who are elected from the wombs of their mothers that they will be the spiritual leaders of the people of God; they have to be holy because they are serving the holy God, who surveys the entire galaxies or cosmos. The Holy Bible says: “You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.” (Leviticus 20:26)
Do we see the mark of holiness on both Ethiopian Patriarchs: one shepherding the Church at home, and the other tending the Church in exile? Does a holy Patriarch build a statue for himself before he dies? Does a holy Patriarch as a good shepherd abandon his sheep and run away when a wolf – Meles Seitanawi (Zenawi) – uppers to divide the sheep and snatch away one of the sheep for its dinner? Doesn’t a good shepherd have to protect his sheep from any danger by any means and at any cost? The Holy Bible tells us what a good shepherd does to his sheep: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.” (John 10:11-13)
If Abune Merkorios were a good shepherd who cared about his sheep, the Ethiopian Christians at home and abroad, he could have confronted the wolf – Aba Diabilos – by standing up with his cross in his hand and protecting his sheep from being devoured by this ravenous wolf, Aba Diabilos. Instead, Abune Merkorios with all his myrmidons ran away to the west for protection for himself and for his followers, leaving and exposing the sheep to a merciless leader, and the sheep that are left from being completely consumed are maundering or wandering without a good spiritual leader.
Yes, Eli the priest at Shiloh served the people of God with his holiness until he died at age 98; he never ran away from serving the people of God (1st Samuel 2:1-36). The prophet Elijah ran away to Horeb from his service in Samaria to save his neck from the sword of Jezebel after he slaughtered the 850 Baal worshipers, but God told Elisha to go back the way he came and told him to appoint in his place Elisha. Elijah went back to Damascus and appointed Elisha in his place. Elijah didn’t say: “No, no, I am not giving up my leadership to another person.” He humbly accepted the command of God and gave up his leadership to Elisha (1st Kings Chapters 18 and 19). Elijah was alive, not dead, when he voluntarily gave his spiritual leadership to Elisha.
The good lesson we can learn from Elijah is that we should not say that we cannot appoint a new patriarch as far as the old patriarch, Abune Merkorios or Aba Diabilos, is still alive. We have the right to pick up at any time any holy person from the holy men of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church to be our spiritual leader. We don’t care what the synods of our Church Fathers say: we cannot sit down while our Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church is purposely being destroyed by the mundane Patriarchs. It is time for us members of this historical Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church to rise up and denounce the two perfunctory or outward patriarchs and appoint a new one.
I can not elaborate spiritual principle to u i am not here to teach but to learn.the truth is to see reality as they are, not as u want the to be.
and about the Goner u motioned.
1st I am a proud Ethiopian
2ND I am a Proud Amara

But, for our sins, sinners rose up against us; They assailed us and thrust us out; What Thou had not promised to them, they took away (from us) with violence. They in no wise glorified Thy honourable name; They set a worldly monarchy in place of (that which was) their excellency; They laid waste the throne of David in tumultuous arrogance. But Thou, O God, did cast them down and remove their seed from the earth, In that there rose up against them a man that was alien to our race. According to their sins did Thou recompense them, O God; So that it befell them according to their deeds. God showed them no pity; He sought out their seed and let not one of them go free. Faithful is the Lord in all His judgements Which He doeth upon the earth. The lawless one laid waste our land so that none inhabited it, They destroyed young and old and their children together. In the heat of His anger He sent them away even unto the west, And (He exposed) the rulers of the land unsparingly to derision. Being an alien the enemy acted proudly, And his heart was alien from our God. And all things whatsoever he did in Jerusalem, As also the nations in the cities to their gods. And the children of the covenant in the midst of the mingled peoples surpassed them in evil. There was not among them one that wrought in the midst of Jerusalem mercy and truth. They that loved the synagogues of the pious fled from them, As sparrows that fly from their nest. They wandered in deserts that their lives might be saved from harm, And precious in the eyes of them that lived abroad was any that escaped alive from them. Over the whole earth were they scattered by lawless (men). For the heavens withheld the rain from dropping upon the earth, Springs were stopped (that sprang) perennial(ly) out of the deeps, (that ran down) from lofty mountains. For there was none among them that wrought righteousness and justice; From the chief of them to the least (of them) all were sinful; The king was a transgressor, and the judge disobedient, and the people sinful. Behold, O Lord, and raise up unto them their king, the son of David, At the time in the which Thou seest, O God, that he may reign over Israel Thy servant And gird him with strength, that he may shatter unrighteous rulers, And that he may purge Jerusalem from nations that trample (her) down to destruction. Wisely, righteously he shall thrust out sinners from (the) inheritance, He shall destroy the pride of the sinner as a potter’s vessel. With a rod of iron he shall break in pieces all their substance, 21 He shall destroy the godless nations with the word of his mouth; At his rebuke nations shall flee before him, And he shall reprove sinners for the thoughts of their heart. And he shall gather together a holy people, whom he shall lead in righteousness, And he shall judge the tribes of the people that has been sanctified by the Lord his God. And he shall not suffer unrighteousness to lodge any more in their midst, Nor shall there dwell with them any man that knoweth wickedness, For he shall know them, that they are all sons of their God. And he shaIl divide them according to their tribes upon the land, And neither sojourner nor alien shall sojourn with them any more. He shall judge peoples and nations in the wisdom of his righteousness. Selah. And he shall have the heathen nations to serve him under his yoke; And he shall glorify the Lord in a place to be seen of (?) all the earth; And he shall purge Jerusalem, making it holy as of old: So that nations shall come from the ends of the earth to see his glory, Bringing as gifts her sons who had fainted, And to see the glory of the Lord, wherewith God hath glorified her. And he shall be a righteous king, taught of God, over them, And there shall be no unrighteousness in his days in their midst, For all shall be holy and their king the anointed of the Lord. For he shall not put his trust in horse and rider and bow, Nor shall he multiply for himself gold and silver for war, Nor shall he gather confidence from a multitude for the day of battle. The Lord Himself is his king, the hope of him that is mighty through his hope in God. All nations (shall be) in fear before him, For he will smite the earth with the word of his mouth forever. He will bless the people of the Lord with wisdom and gladness, And he himself (will be) pure from sin, so that he may rule a great people. He will rebuke rulers, and remove sinners by the might of his word; And relying upon his God, throughout his days he will not stumble; For God will make him mighty by means of (His) holy spirit, And wise by means of the spirit of understanding, with strength and righteousness. And the blessing of the Lord (will be) with him: he will be strong and stumble not; His hope will be in the Lord: who then can prevail against him? (He will be) mighty in his works, and strong in the fear of God, (He will be) shepherding the flock of the Lord faithfully and righteously, And will suffer none among them to stumble in their pasture. He will lead them all aright, And there will be no pride among them that any among them should be oppressed. This will be the majesty of the king of Israel whom God knoweth; He will raise him up over the house of Israel to correct him. His words shall be more refined than costly gold, the choicest; In the assemblies he will judge the peoples, the tribes of the sanctified. His words (shall be) like the words of the holy ones in the midst of sanctified peoples. Blessed be they that shall be in those days, In that they shall see the good fortune of Israel which God shall bring to pass in the gathering together of the tribes. May the Lord hasten His mercy upon Israel! May He deliver us from the uncleanness of unholy enemies! The Lord Himself is our king for ever and ever. – Excerpt from Psalm of Solomon
Dear Matebu (#21):
Thank you so much for your brilliant presentation. For those who lump Woyane and its agent with others in parallel, are at worst the enemy of the state of Ethiopia or at best a cannibalizing fools.
Long Live Ethiopia
“When men fall, do they not rise again?
If one turns away, does he not return? Why then has this people turned away
in perpetual backsliding? They hold fast to deceit, they refuse to return. I have given heed and listened, but they have not spoken aright; no man repents of his wickedness, saying, `What have I done?’ Every one turns to his own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle. Even the stork in the heavens knows her times; and the turtledove, swallow, and crane keep the time of their coming; but my people know not the ordinance of the LORD. “How can you say, `We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us’? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie. The wise men shall be put to shame, they shall be dismayed and taken; lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD, and what wisdom is in them? Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to conquerors, because from the least to the greatest every one is greedy for unjust gain; from prophet to priest every one deals falsely. They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, `Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed; they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they shall be overthrown, says the LORD. When I would gather them, says the LORD, there are no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree; even the leaves are withered, and what I gave them has passed away from them.” Why do we sit still? Gather together, let us go into the fortified cities and perish there; for the LORD our God has doomed us to perish, and has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD. We looked for peace, but no good came, for a time of healing, but behold, terror. “The snorting of their horses is heard from Dan; at the sound of the neighing of their stallions the whole land quakes. They come and devour the land and all that fills it, the city and those who dwell in it. For behold, I am sending among you serpents, adders (vipers) which cannot be charmed, and they shall bite you,” says the LORD. My grief is beyond healing, my heart is sick within me. Hark, the cry of the daughter of my people from the length and breadth of the land: “Is the LORD not in Zion? Is her King not in her?” “Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with their foreign idols?” “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” For the wound of the daughter of my people is my heart wounded, I mourn, and dismay has taken hold on me. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?”-Jeremiah

The Judgment of God, and the Prophet’s Call to Repentance – Joel
An unparalleled devastation of the land of Judah by several successive swarms of locusts, which destroyed all the seedlings, all field and garden fruits, all plants and trees, and which was accompanied by scorching heat, induced the prophet to utter a loud lamentation at this unparalleled judgment of God, and an earnest call to all classes of the nation to offer prayer to the Lord in the temple, together with fasting, mourning, and weeping, that He might avert the judgment. In the first chapter, the lamentation has reference chiefly to the ruin of the land; in the second, the judgment is depicted as a foretype and harbinger of the approaching day of the Lord, which the congregation is to anticipate by a day of public fasting, repentance, and prayer so that ch. 1 describes rather the magnitude of the judgment, and ch. 2:1-17 its significance in relation to the covenant nation.
After an appeal to lay to heart the devastation by swarms of locusts, which has fallen upon the land (Joe 1:2-4), the prophet summons the following to utter lamentation over this calamity: first the drunkards, who are to awake; then the congregation generally, which is to mourn with penitence; and then the priests, who are to appoint a service of repentance. For each of these appeals he gives, as a reason, a further description of the horrible calamity, corresponding to the particular appeal; and finally, he sums up his lamentation in a prayer for the deliverance of the land from destruction.
“Hear this, ye old men; and attend, all ye inhabitants of the land! Has such a thing indeed happened in your days, or in the days of your fathers? Ye shall tell your sons of it, and your sons their sons, and their sons the next generation. The leavings of the gnawer the multiplier ate, and the leavings of the multiplier the licker ate, and the leavings of the licker the devourer ate.”
The thought is rather this: one swarm of locusts after another has invaded the land, and completely devoured its fruit. The use of several different words, and the division of the locusts into four successive swarms, of which each devours what has been left by its precursor, belong to the rhetorical drapery and individualizing of the thought. The only thing that has any real significance is the number four, as the four kinds of punishment in Jer 15:3 (the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy), and the four destructive judgments in Eze 14:21 (the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast), clearly show. The number four, “the stamp of oecumenicity” (Kliefoth), indicates here the spread of the judgment over the whole people in all directions. In order that the people may discern in this unparalleled calamity a judgment of God, and the warning voice of God calling to repentance, the prophet first of all summons the wine-bibbers to sober themselves, and observe the visitation of God. “Awake, ye drunken ones, and weep! and howl, all ye drinkers of wine! at the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. For a people has come up over my land, a strong one, and innumerable: its teeth are lion’s teeth, and it has the bite of a lioness. It has made my vine a wilderness, and my fig-tree into sticks. Peeling, it has peeled it off, and cast it away: its shoots have grown white.”

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide by what his ears hear; but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the girdle of his waist, and faithfulness the girdle of his loins.
The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall feed; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The sucking child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
In that day the root of Jesse shall stand as an ensign to the peoples; him shall the nations seek, and his dwellings shall be glorious. Isaiah

Dear Elias, Chief Editor,
When my Muslim enemies attack me, you immediately post their attacks against me and against my Christianity, but when I respond to their attacks, you don’t post my responses. Is that fair? Have the Muslims put their spells on you as the devil put his on their Muhammad?
