EPPF resolution on problems facing the organization

Chapter representatives and central committee members of Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front (EPPF) held a worldwide conference on August 1, 2010, and have passed a 14-point resolution on problems facing the organization and measures that need to be taken to fix them.

The conference was attended by EPPF chapters from Europe, USA and Canada, as well as several central committee members.

EPPF is an armed resistance movement that has a great deal of potential in helping bring about change in Ethiopia. Unfortunately, the organization has been plagued with deep corruption and the leadership is infiltrated by some individuals who have ulterior motives.

A serious effort is now being made by a highly committed group of individuals to rid EPPF of corruption, nepotism, parochialism and incompetence. Those who are resisting change for their own personal interests — some are profiting from the organization — have recently started to mount a counter offensive by trying, through backdoor dealings, to reverse decisions made at EPPF’s General Assembly last February. These corrupt individuals have also started to appear on some internet discussion forums and publicly attack central committee members who are pushing for change. This has prompted all EPPF chapters in the Diaspora and central committee members to convene a conference on Sunday, August 1, and state their positions clear by passing a resolution.

  1. This cycle of problem haunts the majority of Ethiopian organizations be it at home or abroad, be it peaceful or violent.
Why it repeatedly happens is lack of willingness to be governed by rule of law and democratic principles.
Also, government affiliated groups are immersed by corruption, prostitution and theft.

I think, Ethiopia needs a true revolutionary leader, that rises up in a foreseeable time.
Sorry for the fate of the Ethiopian people and nation.
We are at the verge of “to be or not to be”.

  2. God grief. EPPF is in shambles all the time. When we hope everthing is fine and things are progressing, it resorts to the same shitty situation. Please root out those corrupts and move on. When don’t need to hear such messy situation.

  3. Obviously the corrupt individuals may have been bought by outside agents could be Weyane or Shaebia to spy within the agency. So any opposition group should not be naive about such things that is created to affect any organization that is trying to unite the country. However, it is good they did focus on fixing problems and without escalating situations peaceful root out bad people.

  4. I think EPPF is on the right track, selfish, corrupt, power hungry and sub-national individuals will always come and go but what matters the most is the majority of EPPF are true Ethiopian patriots. Ethiopians in the diaspora should not get discouraged by the few destructive individuals in their midst, instead they should applaud the majority genuine EPPF members who exposed these few greedy individuals and corrected the problems they created before they managed to seriously damage the organization.

Abandoning EPPF at this time is a serious mistake and plays well for the tribal junta that is ruining the country faster than any regime before them. Ethiopians in the diaspora should stand behind the patriots who are sacrificing their youth so Ethiopia can be a free country again.

  5. Are there any honest Ethiopians left, it is becoming very difficult to know whom to trust. I thought Lidetu Ayalew was an honest person fighting for the people of Ethiopia, and he disappointed me big time. I thought Hailu Shawel was an honest person fighting for the people of Ethiopia, and he disappointed me big time. Is there any honest Ethiopian politician out there. Everybody is accusing everybody, it is becoming difficult to know whom to trust.

  6. Having different ideas and views is one of the manifestations of true democracy. Individuals who are in a leadership position or those who have any affiliation to a political group should understand that and ready to accept and entertain good ideas and compromise on some issues.
Those who are in the gear of ‘MY idea or nothing else’ should not be tolerated and need to be replaced ASAP.

  7. One may presume to say the present generation of Ethiopians face the crediblity crisis-as result of errosion of morale values,at time when we needit the most.Perhaps a return to the most cherished values of the past is instructive here.simply said people will have hard time to lead unless they know in experiance and become convinced that leadership is a responsiblity for those who are humble and lowely. Our LORD says, and I am pharaphrasing “Inorder to be a leader one has to be first. ”

His entire teaching about leadership is stated in Mt.20:20:28.I understand,by queting the bible I am inviting trouble by some corners. For those who insist that moral value has no place in politics,I reply unless we acknowledge its utmost importance and put people in responsible position by this criteria, ten years from now we will be still seating in the same chair.

For the simple fact is this only people who are morally upright can envision and conceive the highest idals for the collective good- that means our leaders need to constantly check the intrusion of lself seeking motives.

  8. Zewdalem is like Professor Mesfin. He is a known trouble maker. It is time for them to retire and leave politics to the younger generation. They are hungry for power but they are do not have the capacity to lead. They are simply too old to be leaders.

  9. It is natural in every armed or unarmed political movement there exists this kind of internal problems. Because people have different thinking; interest; attitutdes; behaviour; etc. It is good to rectify all the disputes and divisions within the organization at this early stage and come out clean. To achieve this goal, an organization should have a dedicated; patriotic; strong; visionary and unifying leader. It may take some time but it is certain the EPPF will get to the promised land. So, falks, don’t get discouraged by this minor set back, the EPPF is cleansing itself of some unwanted parasites while at the same time giving wayane sleepless nights as we speak.

  10. Don’t forget Abebe Nigatu who lives in Dallas and a friend of Azeb Mesfin. I heard Zewalem and Getinet made him their treasurer. How can EPPF be a credible organization when it is infested with known Woyanne agents like Abebe????????

  11. I think one of the problems for this kind of inner fighting to happen is because no one in the public knows who those culprit parasite so called leaders are out side the organization. I think EPPF needs to call this names out and make it puplic. Most of this trouble makers are probably known to move around every organization and create havoc. they may be weyane’s cadres but most are tipical ethio polititians that just like to fight for nothing and don’t agree on any thing. I know EPPF is an armed struggle group but the support group abroad needs to put out every individual’s in the leadership to be known there qualification, their background, etc to the public.
I am sure we will know who is who, and easily we can identify who the true freedom fighters and the true son of ethiopia could be.

  12. I really hope EPPF will cleanse itself of all these corrupt individuals. I used to be a strong supporter of EPPF a while ago and I know exactly what the main problems are. If EPPF is unwilling to reform, please stop giving the people false hope. The first order of business should be to get rid of obstacles such as Zewdalem.

  13. any one willing to join EPPF must be checked thoroughly( background) check and pass.cos every one that say i am Ethiopian are not Ethiopian at all when it comes to the interest of Ethiopia and its people there are many HODAMS among our mist.
