Another great news from the Somali front

EDITOR’S NOTE: Bravo, Somali freedom fighters. The people of Ethiopia are with you in your struggle to liberate your country from the Woyanne brutal occupation. We also want to let you know that each Woyanne you kill is a big favor for Ethiopia.

At least 26 killed in central Somalia fighting

MOGADISHU (AFP) — At least 26 people, mainly combatants, were killed on Tuesday in fighting between Ethiopian forces and Somali insurgents in central Somalia, residents said.

The incident was one of the most serious in months and came a week before a deadline for the implementation of a truce agreement signed by rival factions last month in Djibouti was due to expire.

The insurgents ambushed an Ethiopian a Woyanne army convoy travelling from Guguriel near the Ethiopian border to Mataban town, about 450 kilometres (280 miles) north of the capital Mogadishu, they said.

“I counted 18 bodies in and around Mataban town,” said Hussein Moaliam Aden, an elder in Mataban, adding that he had seen the bodies of at least seven Ethiopian Woyanne soldiers lying near the ambush site.

Mataban residents said a child was killed as the clashes spread into the town in Galgudud region, confirming that 26 people had been killed.

“One child was killed in the crossfire in Mataban,” said one resident, Mohamed Hadi Ali.

Residents reported that the fighting, in which both sides used armoured vehicles, was the heaviest in the region since Ethiopian Woyanne forces entered Somalia in late 2006 to bolster the country’s weak government.

“Most of the dead are from the rival sides. We have never seen such a heavy fighting since the Ethiopian Woyanne forces entered our country,” local resident Feisal Mohamed said.

Sheikh Abdirahim Isse, a spokesman for the insurgents, confirmed the clashes and claimed the Ethiopians Woyannes had suffered heavy losses.

“There was heavy fighting today and the Ethiopian Woyanne forces suffered huge losses. Many of them were killed and their armed vehicles destroyed,” Isse told AFP by phone from an unknown location.

The Ethiopian Woyanne army, which rarely comments about such incidents, has pledged to pull out once the United Nations deploys a peacekeeping force to bolster an embattled African Union peacekeeping force confined to Mogadishu.

On June 9, the Somali government and its political opposition signed agreements, including a ceasefire scheduled to enter into force within 30 days, but a radical wing of the Islamist fighters called Shebab has refused to recognise it.

Instead, it has vowed to keeping fighting until Ethiopian Woyanne forces pull out of Somalia, a nation that has been plagued by an uninterrupted civil war since the 1991 overthrow of president Mohamed Siad Barre.

At least 2.6 million Somalis are facing hunger due to acute food shortages spurred by a prolonged drought, insecurity and high inflation. UN famine monitors have warned that the figure could hit 3.5 million by year’s end.

  1. There is also fighting for freedom and justice in the northern part. The shameful act of HODAM AMHARAS like DEMEKE MOKONEN (now in the US) should be carefully watched. While demeke mokonen is spreading a false propaganda in the US in favor of his lord, meles is taking time to prepare and make major assault on the Freedom/Justice fighters in the north. If you call it smartness or genius, meles is known for his tactics like the one he is doing now. To make it precise, he sent the shameless to the US at least to calm down the Ethio-Sudan border committee and in the meantime preparing for his mission of murdering the fighters in that region. The Ethio-Sudan committee may be influenced by the false propaganda of demeke. But meles uses this time advantage to prepare himself and take action later.

    Death to tplf

  2. As brutal it sounds to cheer the distruction of “Ethiopian” Woyane troops in Somalia, the reality of the matter is the “Ethiopian” woyane troops are the one standing between us and our freedom . We need them on our side. They want to be on the people Ethiopia’s side. How do we do that?

  3. This is the biggest crock of crap that I’ve read in a long time. You honestly believe that dieing of Ethiopians is great news? Get this one straight you knucklehead! It’s just a news not great news.

Elias kifle! Please get a pulse!

  4. Sooner or later the army Meles sent to Somalia to help keep his surrogate “Somalia’s government” in power there,if there is one, will be back home. One wonders if the returning disgruntly army will be as loyal to Meles and his gangs as when left for Somalia. Often when an army returns from war theater, it tends to become dissatisfied and unwilling to cooperate with those in power.
Perhaps, this will soften Meles’s grip on power and mark the beginning of the eventual downfall of the gangs.

  5. demeke mekonen is one of hodam melese’s buchilla who have been killing their own people. but when the time will come for melese to leave ethiopia, all buchillas will face justice for their crime against the nation

  6. Hello,
What is GREAT about this news? The death of the 26 human beings (may be all of in part Ethiopians who are either forced or kill others so that they wont get killed of hunger, terror, intimidation etc? Or the Somalis who are fighting for whatever reason they have, but who are humanbeings like you and me?)

Where and what is the great news?

  7. It is indeed great news when an INVADING ARMY is decimated. Don’t give me the crap of “I support the troops, but I do not support the war”. That is what the US center right wing has been saying. For heaven’s sake, how could one support the troops and not their mission, which is the war? It is crazy and dishonest propaganda of the well to do. No, my friends, we can not honestly state that, “We are against the war in Somalia, but we continue to support our troops who are the source of the war in Somalia! A folk, life is black and white. It does not work like that. As the Americans say, “one can not have his cake and eat it too”. A simple impossibility!

So, please let’s not kid ourselves by stating the obvious fallacy. Last time I checked, the Somali people would have to use any thing at their disposal including deadly force to counter some deadly force aimed at them with mortal power if they are going to remain free and independent people as we all wanted to be.

  8. This is not the death of normal Ethiopians or normal human beings. This is the death of humans turned in to inhuman killers and pathological mass murderers. They invaded an indipendent nation against the wishes and aspirations of poor Ethiopians and started to live by the guns and violence and they will also die by the guns violences.
    STRANGE CHOICE!

For their master criminal actions and practices, even worse things would have happened to them if they were out side of Africa.

Such inhuman killers and mass murderers were/are always dealt with promptly and swiftly being taken out of societies and communities, whether they are in towns or country side, in Africa or Europe, in USA or Asia.

  9. Wro Akalu,

If you were a German, wouldn’t you have cheered when the allied foreces killed Nazi soldiers during the war? This is no different. Actually, it is worse since Woyane soldiers massacre their own people!

  10. to saber
iff you are so sure why you dont go and fight with your woyane cowards in mogadhishu or anywhere in our soil? besides even your woyane cowards leave our soil do you thing its over just like that? now thats is not true..the true is you should pay same price even more than our ppl in ogaden in somalia everywhere in eats africa……its itresting what will happend in east africa…lets see

  11. US Ambassador describes Ethiopia’s roles in Horn as very positive
Addis Ababa, July 1, 2008 (Addis Ababa) – US Ambassador to Ethiopia, Donald Yamamoto says the United States recognizes Ethiopia’s contribution in various peacekeeping operations in the region and other areas of conflict in Africa.

“Ethiopia is right now, I think, the second largest troops contributing country in peacekeeping operations in Sub-Saharan Africa and probably has the most disciplined and qualified troops,” Yamamoto said.

Ethiopia has been playing a very positive role in regional peace and security, Yamamoto said at a press briefing he gave on Tuesday at the US Embassy.

The US Government is working closely with Ethiopia and other countries with a view to helping enhance peace and security in the Horn of Africa, he said.

According to the ambassador, the US government looks at the peace and security situation in the region with due concern.

Yamamoto said the mandate of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) in Somalia will expire and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in Sudan will have to be fully implemented in 2009 and elections are to be held.

“The year 2009 is going to be a watershed, because we are going to have stability or instability or we are going to have directions towards regional security or not,” he said.

With regard to Somalia, the United States appreciates Ethiopia’s concerns. For Ethiopia, the issue in Somalia is particularly the security issue just as was the stability issue. “If you don’t have stability in Somalia you never have stability in your borders.”

“On the other hand, it is also a regional issue, because we can see the influx of foreign fighters and other extremists coming to Somalia,” he said.

And these are all concerns that affect not only Ethiopia but also Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti and all the people who live in the region, he said.

“So we need to work together with Ethiopia and the neighboring countries to carry out objectives on how to enhance security,” he said.

  12. to jorge,

Ethiopia created two kinds of people: Woyanes and non-Woyanes. Non-Woyanes do not expect Woyanes such as yourself to have Helina. And yes the death of any Woyane is good news to us regardless of the cause of death. A Woyane’s death inflicted by Somali freedom fighters is as good a reason for celebration as that inflicted by Ethiopian freedom fighters or for that matter one that occurs by natural causes.

Woyanes mean non-woyanes deadly harm just like viruses and bacteria mean harm to their victims. In both cases, the cure involves finding a way to kill or debilitate the harmful agent.
