Ethiopians in Dallas confront Meles Zenawi’s stooges

Ethiopians in Dallas confront Meles Zenawi’s stooges

The Messengers of the butcher of Addis Ababa, Meles Zenawi, had attempted to convene a meeting in Dallas on Sunday, June 22nd, at the Radisson Hotel located at Hwy 75 to spread propaganda about Ethiopia and their regime. They came prepared to deliver their well known talking points: the politics of Ethiopia is democratizing and is in good custody; leave the politics for us — just come home and spend money as tourists — send your remittances, and of course invest.

Zenawi’s stooges, Ato Hilawe Yosef (EPDRF’s campaign manager during the bloody 2005 election), Ato Demeke Mekonnen (so-called Vice President of the Amhara Regional State who is involved in orchestrating the regional cover for ceding of Ethiopian territory to the Sudan), and Ato Mulae Tarekegn, from the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington DC and their operatives amongst us know very well that it is impossible for them to sell this idea to Ethiopians. Their aim is clear. It is to go every where the Diaspora is and get a handful of people in a room for a propaganda consumption. Knowing this, the Ethiopian activists in Dallas came prepared to change their talking points.

The meeting ended in being a total fiasco as the Woyane representatives were forced to abandon their prepared speech and agenda of political stability and economic development in Ethiopia, and instead were forced by patriotic Ethiopians to go directly to questions and answers focusing on the Ethio-Sudan border, the on-going drought and famine and the grave dissatisfaction of the Ethiopian people with the endless lies, dishonesty and corruption of the dictatorial regime of Melesse Zenawi.

The Woyanne stooges were given an earful about the dreadful situation prevailing in Ethiopia: the lack of democracy and gross abuse of human rights; the famine that is afflicting 14 million Ethiopians; the ceding of sovereign Ethiopian territory to the Sudan; the EPRDF government’s lies about Badme and the loss of 70,000 Ethiopians in the war between Eritrea and Ethiopia; the grinding poverty prevalent in Ethiopia despite EPRDF’s false claims regarding development; and many other such important facts demonstrating the utter failure of the current regime in Ethiopia.

The response by the Woyane representatives was totally inadequate as they were teetering in shock at the strong opposition and incisive remarks and questions directed at them. Some of their responses were pitifully and obviously unconvincing. One of them alleged, for instance, that no land has been ceded to the Sudan, although the Sudanese government has confirmed to the contrary; and the very Ethiopian people whose land and property has been ceded to and occupied by the Sudanese have testified to that fact repeatedly on VOA. It was particularly tragic to note that according to the Woyanne stooges, the on-going drought and famine occurring in Ethiopia was an exaggeration and that it was a figment of imagination of the international community!

After expressing the bitter frustration of the Ethiopian people with the corrupt regime and dominating the forum which was organized by operatives of Woyane for three hours, most of the participants walked out in protest leaving the Woyanne representatives and their handful puppets extremely frustrated and confused. It was a good opportunity to identify their operatives among us conspiring to penetrate and silence the Diaspora under the guise of “consensus forum”. They need to be fully exposed and be under the watchful eyes of patriotic Ethiopians. We ask fellow Ethiopians in the Diaspora to challenge the TPLF propagandists where ever they come and most of all identify their operatives amongst us.

Let other Woyane meetings result in a total fiasco!

    Bravo Ethiopians in Dallas, TX.
I have heard Hilawie Yusuf has relatives in Austin area and has in the past entertained defection. But, please do not oppose Hilawie’s attempt to ‘disappear’ and ask for asylum just like the Gambelan Official did in Denver. It helps the struggle today. We will see what it will bring tomorrow. Cherish the moment.

  2. Unlike some cities Dallas is standing tall. I remember the previous delegation that came to Dallas from Houston.

Unlike Dallas, in Houston one of the Woyane delegation was given a red carpet reception by the Medhane Alem Church in Houston in collaboration with a few of Woyane handlers inside the Church.

I left Dallas to see the International Festival in Houston after witnessing the Dallas episode where the Woyane delegation was humiliated.

I came to Houston from Dallas to visit families and to see the Houston International Festival. On the evening of Saturday, April 26, we debated which church to go to for Fassika, eventually we decided to go to Medhane Alem, as most families attend.

What I saw there was unbelievable, as I was one of the persons who confronted the Woyanes in Dallas on April 24, 2008 at the Quality Inn & Suites.

To my surprise, a Woyane minister was addressing an Ethiopian church as if he is one of their members. There was no fuss, there was no boowing, or no complaint except a few wondered souls. One of the priests invited him to to the Podium to speak and nobody said a word in protest.

This is what I gathered talking to some of my family members. Let me say this, seeing this Woyane minister with the Board Chairman reminded me of of the appearance of Pope Benedict the XVI with Joseph Mendele the angel of Death in 1933. Like Josef Mengele, I am sure the Board members of the church and chairman are normal people, people of good standing in his community, cultured, fathers who tucked their children into bed, and intellegient. Like Mengele the Woyane minister looked rationale, a good Orthodox preacher, but still angel of death for the Ethiopian people.

What suprised me was, an Ethiopian church in Houston is wining and dinning with Woyanes. The Ethiopian Medhane Alem Church, the largest and the oldest church in Houston is falling in the Wayside as an accomplice and a facilitaor for Woyane penetration of the Ethiopian community in Houston, while totally ignoring the plight of the Ethiopian people.

While the Ethiopian people are reviving their struggle to slam the door on Woyanes, this Church has opened its door and arms to embrace Woyanes.

While the Woyanes were embarrassed and humilated in Dallas, but they had a great time in Houston becasue of this Church and some of their able agents who penetrated the church and the community. Because of the support the Woyanes getting from such leadership, the Woyane resistance has been totally crushed in Houston. You can call Houston Woyane town and Medhane Alem, Woyane Church.

I am told that some of the Board membes are fanatic and ardent Woyane supporters and the Board Chairman, I am told was once a Derg cadre, who was engaged in serious atrocities in Ethiopia.

When the Ethiopian people charge Woyane for crime against humanity, I am sure Medhane Alem Board members should be named as accessories and as an accomplice, as this encourages the Woyanes to continue business as usuall, that is kill more, arrest more, maim more and slaughter.

Why are not God fearing and Hagar Wodad Ethiopians depose these Board members or leave the church? I asked, would not the soul and the hand of all memers be tied to the blood stained sword of Woyane if they do not do something to stop it. Would not their name for ever remembered and listed as one who tolereted and accomodated this totalitarian regime.

I was told that this church unlike any other church in Houston, either Orthodox or evangelical has taken the liberty to be a tool for Woyanes because some of its members have been plotting to organize as Woyane spsonsored investor group in Ethiopia, primarily to build houses with the support of Woyanes, that promised them to get free land, so to entrap and win over some poor selfish and unpatriotic hodams.

Can you believe this church giving the podium to a Woyane and welcomed to address the whole congregation to hear the gospel of Woyane justice, investment and the need for them to pack and go back to Ethiopia and to invest in Ethiopia.

I was reminded again, the word Ethiopia at some occassions is oftern confused with politics, but EPRDF cadres are given all the latitude to discuss any issues their heart desires including the progress Ethiopia made under Woyanes.

The fact that Woyane Counsel General and his wife going to this church has some thing to do the ease the Woyane have mollified and penetrated the church. I wonder that too.

I am told some of the members are antagonistic to the plight of the Ethiopian people even the name Ethiopia is politics, but when it comes whealing and dealing with Woyanes, it is no problem.

The church has degenerating where very narrow minded and cowards gather to further their small material needs rather than carry true cause of Jesus Christ, our lord who stood for the weak and the humble ones instead of the might, the rich and the powerful.

Providing access to this man is equivalent to inviting Graziani to a mosque or church after he massacred Ethiopians during the second World War, a friend of mine said. This agents of a murderous regime, who has blood in his hand and who is an accomplice to a regime who killed innocent Ethiopians women, men and children to God’s house is bizzare and unethiopian.

I was told that some of the leaders might not have known who this guy was. To the contrary, most of them spent the whole week with him and had exchanged business cards and had dined and wined with him.

Unless the people of this church condemn the accomplices of this episode, this church should be condemned by all Ethipoians. Has this church ever stood for justice, for victims of Woyane and the plight of the oppressed people of Ethiopia?

Did this church violated God’s commandment by standing with the killer of God’s children in Ethiopia in cold blood? Indeed.

Did this church rolled back the Woyane issolation and has it setback the Ethiopian just struggle for justice and freedom by inviting these agents of Woyane to its door and dining and winnng with them? Indeed.

Has this church been corrupted to its core and no longer can claim a church, but poltical Office for Woyane propaganda. Time will tell.

Does this church has a leg to stand on as a guardian of the righteous and for the meak and for the weak. Not under the current leadership.

How can the sons and daughters of Ethiopia listen to an agent of the Woyane without saying a word about the victims of Woyane?

How can a church or its member sit down and break a bread with one who is associated directly or indirectly unjustifibely killing your own fellow brothers and sisters? Or who continues to associate with this regime and speaks glowingly and urges other to abandon the opposition to join Woyane!

Does Meles personally pull the trigger, no it is his agents. Some of them preach his gospel. some of them pull the trigger. The same difference. This is the way the regime is maintained by the collusion of all of its parts.

Thus an accomplice and those who support indeed share the same faith in the court of law of God and man.

Of course, one can say it is poor leadership, but all night I was hoping to see on soul walk in protest, speak in protest, instead some members were fighting to shake this guys hand and to make sure he remembers them when they go to Ethiopia and some of them thanking him for bringing Lucy to Houston. I was also suprised to hear that this is the guy who merchandized Lucy on behalf of the Woyanes, depriving Ethiopia one of its rarest possession, Lucy or Dinkinish. He is the biggest traitor and the most anti-Ethiopian of all the Cabinet members except Bereket Simon.

Please send letters of condemnation to this church.

    Dawit

you are blinded to see the difference between church and politics.Do not disturb others people peace by posting things that you don’t even have evidence. If you think you are a good person that wants to help your country and people, just pray to God in whatever religion you are. what you have posted does not change anything except you look like an idiot.

  3. Bravo Dallas…lets keep fighting the weyane hodam propagandists everywhere, I am very proud of ethiopians around the world, including the holland, Houston, now dallas…we continue to confront the weyane banda cadres everywhere….lets tell them EQUAL EQUAL…( LIK LIKACHWEN)…

  4. Ato Dawit since you are residing in Dallas and we are in Houston. I will like to meet you face-to-face and correct what is wrong about your post. There is a lot of misunderstanding and misconception. Until that opportunity comes I have the following to say. You said “I was told” several times in you post. Who ever told you did not give you all the facts about the church and the Board members. I can tell you though, they are individuals in our community who wants to make the church a political battle ground. That is not going to happen as long as we are breathing.

People like you would like to politicize every thing, but our church as an institution is free from politics for both pro-government and anti-government forces. That is the main reason why it is thriving and growing. Individual members of the church can believe in what ever they want, that is their right.

The individuals you mentioned, Board Chairman and other members are independent thinker and leaders. They do not be pushed around like some individuals will like to do in our community.

By the way what do you expected the people who opposed the person’s do? Make a demonstration, shout in the church while service is going on, or beat the person when he comes out of the church? That is not how a civilized society acts, you said “…there was no boowing ..” you do not attend church a lot, do you? You wanted to create anarchy and ruined the mood and spirit of more than 300 persons who came to celebrate Easter. You are a very shallow person, seeing every thing from your political angle; if you have tried to boow you would have ended up in jail for public disobedience.

You said “…Medhane Alem Board members should be named as accessories…” accessories for what? Are you out of your freaking mind; now you were using your bottom to rationalize and process your thought when you wrote this!!!

I hope to meet to face-to-face.

  5. Bravo! Dawit, for your revealing statement. Shame on the leadership of the MedhaneAlem church in Houston for allowing a Woyane thug to preach to the Mi’imenan while, in Ethiopia, his brutal regime has not taken any action when several famous monasteries and churches were burned, priests and parishioners murdered by followers of Al Qaeda!

It’s totally incredible how it was possible for the leadership to welcome a criminal Woyane operative to the church without consulting the members of the church.

If such a Woyane thug were to appear at any church, the Mi’imenan should have asked him some simple questions: why does your government give a free hand to fundamentalists financed by certain Arab governments, enemies of Ethiopia? What action did you take when the fundamentalists performed so many highly destructive and criminal deeds? Will your brutal regime stop creating enmity between Christians and Moslems who have lived in mutual respect and peace for centuries?

The Woyane minister who was lording it up at the Houston Medhane Alem church was apparently there partly to promote Lucy the historic relic from Ethiopia. He should have been asked the question as to why Lucy’s fragile remains had to be transported all the way to USA while credible experts in the field advised against it.

The Mi’imenan of the Houston Medhane Alem church should rise up from this shameful situation and demand from the priest and the Board for a full apology to all Ethiopians for having allowed a Woyane thug to preach to them without their prior authorization. After all, the church is financed by and belongs to them and not to the few Woyane accomplices.

    Wase.

  6. Dawit i do not think you are from Dallas. You are undoubtly from Houston who sefer from big time attention defecient disorder. Your pack of lies would not go an inch. None of the DSM board members are woyane’s supporter a guy like you would like to taint them with herendous lies so you would get glorified? CHEAP! CHEAP! CHEAP

  7. I think Mr. Dawit you whent to far out of line .
Sorry you politicians have an arrogant attitude toward other people who do not support your way it is your way or the high way. In this time and age you have to change your struggle.Helping your country should start from you not from your neighebor . educating giuding and informing is something but acusing without a prove, based on gossip is an old age politics wich is outdated .that is why your kind of people( who knows what you do for a living )cannot struggel for ethiopians becuase you do not believe in democracy and what it stands for. You have know Idea what kind of people this church has ( We are all proud Ethiopians who feel and hurt the pain of Ethiopia becuse we have families and relatives too.) you don’t know what kind of fight we put up not to put the church under the control of any kind of political group this is church not a place for political forum. Good try.
It seems you have been plotng for a coupel of month on how you can destroy this beautful church filled with people who love God, Ethiopia and their family it want work.Visiting for one day does not give you the right to bad mouth the church or the congregation by the way this is benath us.
I am glad you just came to visit this are the kind of people we say AREKELEN Tebeken

  8. Shame on you Mr. Dawit,
Like Anbessaw said, I don’t think you are from Dallas. I am a regular member of the Medhane alem Church of Houston and we know most of Dallas people are well mannered and don’t talk trash based with gossip and the like. It is a shame to say the Medhane alem Church of Houston board members are Woyanes. In fact they were accused many times for being too aggressive to the opposite. You know and we all know what happened in the Church that Easter night. It was unplanned and the only people invited for the Easter celebration, we were told, were the Ethiopian singers and models for the international festival who are planning to run away from the woyanne leaders and request political asylum.
Even most of us know some of the board members were in the attendance of the demonstration against the festival recognition of woyane.
By the way, if you consider yourself that extreme, why did you even come all the way from Dallas to attend the weyanne show organized by the woyane ministers in this Houston international festival? Can we say you too are woyane sympathizer?? Shame on you.

  9. Thank you Dawit, for your thoughtful write ups, I fully agree with what you said about the hypocrisy around our churches. As you might observed our protest in Dallas, none of the committee members of those churches in Dallas were there. Sunday with 100 degree temperature we put the announcement papers on all cars. I purposely left more than one on the church committee member’s cars. However none of them came to our protest. It seems to me some institutions we created are telling us as if they are for both, I mean for woyane and the people. If that is the case as you nicely puts it, it’s as collaborating with the facieses as it was in the Second World War.

Dallas did a marvelous job exposing and combating the propagandists and the woyane cadres like that of Hilawi Yosef. I hope those cadres will face the same action from Atlanta Brothers.

If Atlanta brothers need advice, I would tell learn from Dallas. Never allow the cadres to lecture to you. Never wait the chair to give you chance to speak, stand yourself, present a realistic speech that minds our country and our people, never yield any order if they shout to stop you, continue until the other brother take over, do the same make them frustrated. Stay to the end but never allow them to finish any topic you gave them to speak. That way you will fulfill the mission as we did in Dallas in the last two protests.

  10. I was in the meeting and I oppose the Woyane regime. Nonetheless , the report about the Dallas activist is way way exaggertaed.I don’t think this kind of reprting will help our struggle to unseat Woyane. We had protested by holding our plank cards, we asked questions and we left. That is it!

  11. I am a proud member of the Medhanealem church in Houston and the Board members and the congregation are dedicated and God fearing peoples. They have built a stable and fully functioning institution where quibbling and fighting is a norm in our community. Any person is welcomed without any question to the house God, politician or not, as long as he is a believer of the Orthodox faith. The congregation and the Board are doing a fantastic job.

For Dawit and the like they do not like to see a functioning institution. When they do see a functioning one, they try to smear the good name of the peoples who built that institution. They do not even attempt to find out the full story; they create lies and make a story to fit their way of thinking and resort to character assassination assuming a screen name. That is an old trick and it does not work here.

Take you politics out of our church; it does not have a place in our church and we do not have the time for it, the members and board do not allow it.

Dawit and the like live in a democratic county with all the privileges, but they try to give prescription to others how to lead an organization. In the name of the love of Ethiopia they try to destroy when their agenda is not center stage.

Shame on you; I am sure you enjoyed the service seating on that comfortable pew. If you are so principled why did you drive more than 3 hours to attend the iFest organized by the government you condemned so much? You are a hypocrite!!!

  12. Sintayehu

I don’t u understand the meaning of politician. Protesting and opposing the policies of woyane is not being a politician. Asefa Maru was not politician; Professor Asrat was not politician or Shibere Desalegn. Why you guys from Houston keep telling us a word politician. As far as I am concerned, those protesters did not protest to hold a public office. The four million residents of Addis Abeba who came out in support of change 2005 were not politicians. I guess you mixing up the word for purpose or maybe you do not know the meaning.

Ethiopia today ruled under the barrel of the gun by those who hate to see her exist. Ethiopians today are divided along ethnic line as it was during the Italian invasion. Ethiopia is a landlocked country. Her see shore taken away by the group still in power. Ethiopians are living under dictatorship even after they voted out the government they feel is not compatible to Ethiopian nationalism. So to say, your labeling every one who come out in support of human right, democracy, and freedom of speech is inappropriate to say the list.

If you feel Dawit is not telling the truth, present your cases supporting with facts as he did. He said a woyane shum allowed standing in front of Ethiopians inside the church and spoken, if that was a lay tell the truth side, why condemning Dawit without evidence?

  13. Holy Mother Mercy!
You Dawit and assosiates are the reasons why most anti Woyannes get turned off when something happen in town. you coast judging people with out knowing them. You are running nuts with your ambition to be another Woyanes. What ever is the complex you are suffering be advised to see a psychatrist. As a rebuttal i would like to say a few thing about the board members of the DSM. Indaistrious, hard working and are proud Ethiopians with Enthusiastic Kinget spirit. Dawit and alike, you are pathetic. Based on the pattern you exhibted your politics will not go further out of local cremery.

  14. Who is Dawit?
We don’t know and don’t care to know
    edahen b cherkeh
Why don’t you guys give up and take your politics
Somewhere else and live us alone we had enough

You think you have the power to destroy this church
Be very careful only God has the power and this is His house.
    Many have tired and failed.
We are very proud of our board members. Thank you for the way you handled the situation… See they had to put up with your Ignorant Friends who don’t differentiate the fact from the lies and don’t like to see people live peacefully.
We all should pray for this people and for our church and for our country
    .

  15. I was sadden to see the names of the board members of the Medhanealem Church malaciously attacked by wreckless individual. I know most of them. They share the same feelings like most of us when it comes to Ethiopia. As a matter of fact the chairman among others were the ones who took the inititives to go to Dallas to attend the Kingit Forum. All these things written about them comes from gossip mongerers. Our so called local politicians are streaching it too far. Should’nt we start giving our deaf ear.

  16. I did not think what happend that night was planned by the church. I saw the guy doing Yaredawi relegious chant among our priests that night. Noteably you would observe that he had the knowledge and the skill. The priest as he previously did it to all visting priests invited him if he had to say a few words and he did not say any thing that was political. What is this thing splitting some one hair for absoultely nothig? Should’nt we very careful before we judge some one. This old fashion practice of rushing to put some one on the gurney for execution is lamentable. it has come too close You go to Ethiopia this time you would be labled Woyanne. So please let us get grow and stop this nonesense. Last i heard not sure the guy has defected in Germany.

  17. ETHIOPIANS, WAKE UP. WE SHOULD NOT SIT WITH ANY CRIMINALS WHO WILL COME FROM OR FROM DIASPORA TOGETHER . AN ENEMY IS AN ENEMY. WE SHOULD TAKE THE SERIOUS ACTION AGAINST BOTH CRIMINALS.OTHERWISE THEY WILL CONTINUE COMING AND LYING US. IF WE COULD SUCCEED IN TAKING OF ONE’S THIEF LIFE AWAY, ANOTHER THIEF WILL NEVER DREAM OF COMING ABOARD.

  18. It is amazing that anybody, a priest or any individual Ethiopian invites a Woyane minister or commissioner to their church and worse to the podium. What ever religious inclination the Woyane supporter upholds is not sufficient to justify such access.

This opens a pandor box, becuase next time some Hodam will do the same and invite more agents of Meles and justify it.

The tradition is to protest any Woyane in order to put pressure on them to stop destroying the country.

Hope this is the last time that this church acts as a forum or as an accessary to Woyane agents.

If the church is non-political, it should stop associating with Woyane.

The churches action looks like a back door business initiative by some church members.

  19. Apologies and comments:

I read most of the comments, and I got a call from my nephew, regarding the chairperson. So I withdraw my characterization of him as a Derg cadre. From what I heard from my newphew he was just a regular employee of the Derg like millions of Ethiopians and there is no proof that he was involved in any atrocities. My apologies to the chairperson.

My nephew and I also agreed, that as far as the church, a chairperson is ultimately repsonsible what happens in the church. He could have stood up or made a remark that the speech by the Woyane commissioner/minister was not planned or some thing like that or the unusal nature of the occassion.

This may appear that chairperson is not sensitive enough to the crime and abuse of Woyane and leave the impression that he is willing to work with them.

The bottom line inviting agents of Meles or such high level officials to churches and other vital organs of the community is tantamount to condoning what the government of Meles is doing in Ethiopia. That may be the case for some church leadership, hope that is not the case with the vast majority of Ethiopians in Houston.

    Dawit

  20. Mr. Dawit wearing the mask to cover up his true identity tried to discredit the many years of hard work by the dedicated leaders of our church. The great contributions that The Medehanialem Church has made to the community and especially to young Ethiopians who otherwise would have been culturally, spiritually and traditionally at a loss could not be destroyed easily. As mentioned before this church has been tried and challenged several times and had prevailed. Baseless and unfounded accusations like yours and your stooges are not going to shake up the strength of this church and its members. Your identity is “yade-ba-baye Mister” – as you have already noticed from the other comments that your identity has been uncovered. You are local who had already attempted every possible cheap shoots to attack this church.
If you were really from Dallas and if you are such an anti Woyane what in god’s name were you doing at the international festival which was organized and conducted by Woyane in collaboration with the I-fest Houston. I hope you were not the guy who was dancing your heart out and hugging the organizers to thank them for coming to Houston.
It is obvious that you had plenty of time to gather all kind of false information from your “Informants” that left you with little or no time to get the true story from the Church or its board members.
Mr Dawit, I understand your concern in light of what is happening to our people and our country, but character assassination and wholesale condemnation of an establishment and its members is an unjust action by you or anybody that has a rational mind. You could have called the Board members or could have written a letter demanding answer for what you have witnessed at the church that day. But, I guess you are not from Dallas and your are not really you, so you could not have done that anyways. You were too busy trying to destroy the church with unfounded allegation and personal attacks; you did not even do a good job covering your self up with this ugly mask.

    Long live the Medehanialem Church,

  21. Dawit,

You sound like a very lonely person with so much free time in your hands and seeking attention in all the wrong places. eventhough, your criticism about D.S.M. of Houston as well as its Board members does not deserve response, I am obligated to defend our beloved church ,that has kept our community together and its Board members that work diligently without any monetary reward. You see, we at D.S.M. orthodox church believe we can co-exist with our fellowmen and worship God peacefully. Politics has no place in the House of God. Get the fact straight .No one invited a politician to speak in front of our congregation.
It is most unfortunate that you had the wrong impression of our church and it’s members.,but to make that kind of judgment in a few hours of observation, or by hear-say only shows the level of your immaturity. You were out of your mind , if you expected God fearing people to stop worshping and spill blood on the altar. Hasn’t the world suffered enough from the disease of intolerance?
    GET ….A…LIFE..

  22. It looks people are missing the point. Dawit’spoint is that a Woyane commissioner/minister should not have been invited to the church. Nobody seems to answer that question.

In addition, most of the answers lack depth and sound childish. Is that the type of people who go to this church.

It appears the members are primarily hodams and low life, who are using the church to advance their interest.

    Shame on you.

  23. Ashenafi and the nameless Medhane Alem supporters. You sound goofy and ridiculous.

Have a life and stop dancing with Woyanes. Life is short and live a respectable life.

Medhane Alem should be Woyane Alem if its members as as moronic as they sound in their writing.

By the way, I am glad I don’t go to your church. You guys are nothing, but low life using religion in name only.

  24. Mekedes,

If I can assume the same Mekdes that I know, I think you are the loneliest person and that is why you spend so much time at church and spend so much time hunting guess for what– men.

You are deep down a Woyane and fake religiously and as a person.

More people will be living the church and people like you, fake and charlatan will be the only one left there.

  25. Solomon and W;
You insult does not deserve a response; by responding to you I am lowering my self to your level; below the bottom of a stinking pit.

    Dawit;
You come half way; we need unconditional full apology for the insults and wrong information you posted. If you are genuine enough; come clean and make the wrong-right. You insulted the Board members, chairman, the members, and every one that comes to our church. Your post also resulted in other morons to do the same thing. For your information, church is not a company; what goes in the church is not only the responsibility of the chairperson as you tried to imply in your second post. It is more complicated than that.

You may have realized by now what is wrong in your original post – come clean. You made a mistaken and acted irrationally; then the right thing to do is retract your post entirely and apologize for being the cause of all the insults and degrading the name of our church and peoples who worship at our church.

  26. Addressing the comment by Dawit H., I am a member of DSM Ethiopian Orthodox Church and find your remarks completely ignorant and silly. Are you implying that a church should become involved in politics? Whatever happened to separation of Church and State? Is an Orthodox church not allowed to welcome everyone, regardless of political stance, religion, color, race, or gender? Is the Orthodox not supposed to preach and practice love and forgiveness and consideration for the human race? Are you saying that Churchs are to now begin turning people away instead of embracing them and helping them to find the error of their ways? Have you forgotten the role of the Church is to love, not to judge? You are asking the Church to judge and condemn and that is not the doctrine of the Orthodox faith. Have you forgotten your teachings or have you lapsed so far from your church home that you have forgotten that the Orthodox faith has historically opened it’s doors to everyone from the beginning of Christian time? And to spread your propaganda against a Church is just as despicable and damaging as anything Zenawi is doing in Ethiopia. You are asking people to protest a CHURCH!!!!! How dare you! Your entire rant is filled with “I heard” and “I was told”. What do you know to be fact? Do you know these members personally that you feel so free to attack? Have you spoken with any of them? Or are you going on the word of some bitter individual with a personal ax to grind? What research have you done on your own regarding DSM Church or it’s Board? Apparently none, as you keep quoting non-identified individuals who apparently no nothing except their own hate.

Yes, be angry for the current situation in Ethiopia. Yes, call for protests to force the current political players to be changed. Yes, call for the Ethiopian Diapora to become more involved. Yes, confront Zenawi’s delegation and make them accountable for their words and actions. All of these are valid points. But do not involve the Church, any Church in this. Direct your anger accordingly and not to just any- and everyone. Tell people to send their letters to the Consulate and to the Government, not a Church.

    Thank you.

  27. My last comment……wonder why a country so rich is history, culture, and significance is flailing so miserably? Look at the comments above……Ignorance and shame. People are fighting each other, pointing fingers, leaving disparaging comments each other’s character. What happened to uniting to fight a common cause? We should be attacking, protesting, discouraging government officials, no the common person. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let’s direct our anger to the right place, the current Ethiopian Government, not the individuals who are posting comments to this opinion piece.

  28. Wayane is smart enough to using churches, Christian and Muslims for divide and rule. The same happened in Church of Houston.Don’t argue rather search wolves among the sheep that serve Wayane!
