Zenawi attacks World Bank at Africa symposium in Japan

EDITOR’S NOTE: It is not new for Meles to bite the hands that feed him. We have seen what he did to Eritreans after they helped him come to power. Without the money he is currently getting from the World Bank, this tin-pot dictator cannot survive one week. But it is good to see that he is attacking the World Bank — an organization that is a major source of Africa’s misery.

Ethiopia’s tribal dictator Meles Zenawi on Tuesday denounced economic policies imposed on African countries in the 1980s by the World Bank and charged that they rather delayed the continent’s development.

“Economic liberalization policies were a failure and delayed Africa’s development. These choices neglected investments in infrastructure, education and training,” he said in the Japanese city of Yokohama during an international symposium on Africa’s development organized by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Zenawi urged African countries to conduct “more pragmatic policies” to accelerate their economic growth by investing in infrastructure to ensure their sustainable development.

“There is no sustainable economic growth without reliable and performing infrastructure. Over the past few years, African countries have been achieving economic growth, but the inadequacy of infrastructure is likely to ruin their efforts,” the Ethiopian Prime Minister said.

“Our partners are exerting pressure on us, but they do not leave us room for man oeuvre to enable us to design and work for our own development.”

Zenawi hailed Japan’s support to Africa, urging the continent to build on its economic model.

“In Ethiopia, we built on Asia’s economic experience in general,” he said before a large audience made up of African and Asian delegates who are in Japan to attend the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on Africa’s Development.

The views of the Ethiopian dictator are shared by the other organizers of the symposium, namely the former president of Mozambique, Joaquim Chissano, the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Ronald Kaberuka, the head of state of Tanzania and current chairman of the African Union (AU), Kikwete Jakaya Mrisho, and JICA Director, Mrs Sadako Ogata.

Mrs Ogata deplored the lack of investment in the field of infrastructure, saying JICA had not sufficiently taken into account the importance of infrastructure in development policies.

The four organizers of the symposium stressed the importance of the private sect or, as it must play a major role in economic development in Africa.

“Economic growth should not be reduced to mere figures. It must be felt by the population,” the former Mozambican president added.

The President of the AfDB, Kaberuka, said African countries must clearly define their economic policy and work by order of priority.

“There is need to reform the bureaucracy to modernize it and make it more competent,” he said.

“We cannot do everything at the same time. We must move in stages,” Kaberuka said, advocating a reform of the bureaucracy to modernize it in a bid to make it mo r e competent.

  1. At the moment he can afford to attack anybody he wants too because he well protected by the huge skirt of Dr. Frazer from the state department; however, most of his day today mumbo-jumbo is to show the blind and deaf Ethiopians that their boss is Meles and see what how he talks walks to foreigners, including the ferengis. Then ETV will broadcast his such mumbo-jumbo to all Ethiopians as to who the boss is. In my opinion what he is telling the world is look at me I might be midget and ugly but I still can talk like because I’m Bush’s slave!

  2. What an amazing lecture of dictator Zenawi. after 18-19 years as a presedent of a great country- what was his achievement and legacy. Hunger, high inflation, ethnic tension, war with neihbouring countries, shrinking of the size of the country – what an example.
Ethiopia is thrown 50years back from where it was.
No place for Meles policy neither in Africa nor in Ethiopia

  3. Now here is something new, the biggest world bank slave in Africa criticizing his master, as everything he says and does this task was given to him by his masters. The world bank doesn’t want to be criticized by president Isayas Afewerki because as far back as 1994 the world bank gangsters wanted to bully Eritrea into slavery and Eritrea said no but no thanks we will be masters of our destiny. That is when they decided this little country will have to know who is boss and have been trying every trick in the book to destroy Eritrea’s self reliant strategy because there is nothing like proving this tool of economic slavery tool named the world bank is the wrong medicine for Africa.

If that criticism came from Eritrea it would have some weight and credibility but coming from the biggest recepient of their “largesse” it loses weight. Making Melles say those words will make them look good and him look bad because everyone knows who the sick child of the “donor nations” is. Make that news broadcast by their news outlets with the “right spin” then they win. The gullible Africans will buy the spin and they come out winners. One good reason to get rid of this dictator so the Ethiopian people can regain their dignity once and for all.

  4. I have never seen a damn stupid guy like meles, just being a leader for 18 years it self should’ve been more than going to school. However, he has never learn since he is always concentrate on how to cheat his own tplf party, the Ethiopian people and the westerns using falsified fabricated lies and to stay blindly in power. If he had a sense of humor he would’ve leant a lot for the past 18 years so that he might would’ve been a little better of thinking. May be a monkey can start thinking as a human being if it was given the chance to live with human beings for 18 years. So, meles is as damn as some animals that can’t be able to think as human beings. Meles is only and only relying on false and poor propaganda supported by some racist Tigrian supporters that has no place for nothing except hate of other ethnic groups and some other ethnic groups support that are only dying for their belly. But, the fact is that it is not true that Meles has still in power just because his tplf party is strong, instead we are the one who always fail to keep our unity and keep giving more time to Meles and his gangster tplf party to ruin our country. If we keep focus how to bring our unity by minimizing our minor difference that is going to bring the end of tplf era. Finally, I would not be surperised if meles bites the person who feeds him, since he always want to hear false complement, with out any complain. I think meles next step is to send the agazi army on to world bank, inorder to silent them.

  5. For grade 12 +1, his mouth is open 24 hours, 7 days beyond his
credentials. For Liberation front leader he aint bad. Thug and pig, was being showered by world bank for last 18 years, where he extracted over 200 billions of free money for crime family.

Now, he want to over throw world bank leaders and rob everything World bank, you deserve to be slaped by killer TYRANT you armed against the freedom seeking wills of THE ETHIOPIAN PEOPLE. I predict Frazer will be on his next list to bitch slaped. Go midget meles, make fun of all nieve, foolish ferenjis who have been dumping their money in your personal accounts, they’re are useless, foolish SOB’S.

KEEP telling them, how ferenjis are stupid and their money can be taken from their vaults by intimidating them. What is 200 billion anyways, its nothing for ferenjis who have everything.

We got the most embarassing midget, beligearant as a badger, unsurpassed theif, can intimidate those who resuscitated his criminal regime in power for last 18 years.

    whewoo !!!!!!!!!

  6. I wonder many Ethiopians are obsessed with land. Our people are dying because of mismanagment of resources and endless civil wars. We don’t love each other, but some try to oppress the others at any cost. And that is why we remain one of the poorest nations in world. Guys lets wake up and think our destiny logically.
Regarding Mellez he is out of touch with the reality in which he is living. Killing and cheating are his professions. He can he do any yhing else? Surely no. Even staying 18 years in power is corrupt enough for any sensible leader.

  7. ER,
I know now that for whom you represent…SHAIBIA…GO HELL
We Ethiopians will do great without you, BUT with all brothers and sisters in AFRICA…including our Eritrean cousins

  8. This is a joke. He is chocking to death the only proven method of getting out of poverty—democracy. Africa will never prosper, no matter how much foreign aid is pumped into the continent, until dictatorship is eradicated. Gathering these butchers and corrupt dictators in Japan is laughing at the misery of the messes on the continent.
Developed nations, if you have any regards for the suffuring of humanity on that continent, stop supporting these dictators in the name of foreign aid. Whether you give aid or not people are still starving to death. You only feed and breed more dictators. Shame on you.

  9. Elias,
You said it brother: “[World bank is] an organization that is a major source of Africa’s misery”. But it didn’t have to be that way if any of monkey heads that gather in Addis whould think for the benefit of the continent rather than their bellies!

  10. I am glad the PM is exposing the evils of the policies of the World Bank(world gang). Yes the PM is their excutioner and yes he is their justifier. But regardless of his propaganda of growth that he feed us he is here openly talking about failures.
    I thank him for that.
I dare the PM speaks to Ethiopians, say in the parliament, about the failure of his bosses in the west.I dare him!

  11. Does the criminal dictator by the name Meles Zenawi have ears to listen to the former Mozambican president who said “Economic growth should not be reduced to mere figures. It must be felt by the population” at the same meeting? What about WOYANE Cadres and donkeys like abamela of civility room preaching what is not there every time they pick up mic? What about those irresponsible individuals who are turnning their blind eyes and deaf ears to all the attrocities committed by Woyane against our sisters and brothers? They have been echoing empty pile of words that “among the non oil producing countries, Ethiopia is the only country achieving two digit development”. Shame on Woyanes and their cadres!!!!!Shame on World Bank, the wrong fictious data producer!!!!!!!!Just with less than half a year after Woyane and World Bank were beating the false drum of development, the reality is coming by blaming each other and here we go, moore than 9 million of our people have nothing to eat!!!!!!!Woyanes and their puppets are once again begging in the name of our people. How come the development you Woyanes were talking is not felt by our people? instead people have been crying by the sky rocketing price of almost everything in Ethiopia.
Woyane and all colaborators should be brought to the court of law. For all the high crimes they committed, such as:
    * Historical revisionism
    * Installing puppet government and becoming agents of enemies and those who render only lip service to democracy
    * Killing thousands and orchestrating violence
    * Messing up economic, social and welfare policies
    * Betray and dismember our country
    * For the role played to make Ethiopia land locked
    * Selling Ethiopia’s territory
    WHAT NOT MANY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DEATH TO WOYANE AND THEIR PUPPETS!!!!!!!!!!!

    LONG LIVE ETHIOPIA!!!!!!!!!!!!

    We will prevail!!!!

  12. Elias, I think Meles has the caliber to express his thoughts. In your comment you still refer to Eritrea. What are you up to? Does that mean you still believe Shabia was powerful? I don’t expect you mean that way. If otherwise, that is really shame to expect from someone who claims to be Ethiopian.

  13. Elias

What an unmistakable Shabia agent you are ! So your problem is Meles’ betrayal ( if in deed he has ) of Eritrea ??!!
You know what I recognised you long long time ago. I swear to God , you should expect no future in the post TPLF era. You are not just an Eritrean burning over the loss of your parasitic status in our country, but you are also a Shabia foot soldier camouflaging to be a freedom fighter among freedom loving Ethiopians. Make no mistake , we will not let a Shabia back into the Woyanne free Ethiopia of tomorrow. It’s the civic duty of us all Ethiopians to spot the agents of our enemies of which you are undoubtedly one.

By the way , I am also Elias…real name.

From the across the pond…as they say over in the States.

  14. It seems Meles has reached the end of his despotic growth spurt. Dictator Suharto has done the same in 1998. Following criticism of IMF and its tentacles CIA, which supported his bloody coup for many decades, Suharto committed amateurish political suicide. The monstrous Asian dictator became public enemy of USA and was immediately deposed. So I sense the end of the “chosen” African dictator and murderer, Meles, is in sight!

  15. Meles came to power in part because of shabya and especially eritreans who were living in ethiopia. Meles thanked them by kicking out of ethiopia all eritreans and ethiopians of eritrean origin. Now it’s turn to WORLD bank. Real opportunist.

  16. To the Elias-wannabe: What the heck are you talking about? No seriously, are you a certified moron? Or just a stupid time-waster? Dear Elias (The real one), you’re an intelligent person and a source of pride for the Ethiopian people. Thanks for your efforts and please keep up the good work. Pease just ignore these weyanne morons, because that’s all that they are: morons.

  17. Dear Fellow Ethiopians,

We have kept the tyrant Meles in power for too long to destroy our Motherland and appear in world forums to embarass us. Let us walk the talk in order to stem the atrocities and betrayals of dictator Meles.

  18. I used to see Ethiopian used to intrtain even admired meles speech and way of answering questions comes to him. They used to call him “mels bekise”.knowing that meles continue playing the same game. But this time Ethiopians have nothing to lough about,His tactic doesn’t work anymore.Ethiopian teritorial integrity has been comromised.the economic situation is worsening day by day.Ethiopia is becoming again a symbol where ppl hungry, imprisoned and scared of having different opinions. What ever meles pretend hard to look like pro-ethiopia,the fact in the ground shows otherwise. So enough is enough!Ethiopians are tired of blah blah!Time to go meles and cronies!

    thanks elias!
    Victory for Ginbot seven!
    Victory for Ethiopa!
