Distribute the food stored in Tigray region

EDITOR’S NOTE: There is a food shortage in the south, the most fertile region of Ethiopia, because most of the food that is produced there is shipped to the northern region of Tigray and stored in grain silos and food warehouses. As a result, food prices in Tigray are up to 50% less than in other regions of the country. For example, how is it possible that there is food shortage in Wolaita, a region with some of the most fertile lands in Ethiopia, and at the same time we do not hear about food shortages or price hikes in Tigray, a dry region? So instead of begging for money, the Red Cross may want to ask the Meles regime to distribute the stored food in Tigray.

Red Cross seeks $1.7 million for food aid in Ethiopia

(DPA) — Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Geneva – An appeal for 1.7 million dollars to provide emergency food aid to around 40,000 Ethiopians was launched Friday by the Red Cross.

A series of poor rains resulting in under-nourished cattle had sent livestock prices plummeting.

At the same time, inflation had soared and cereal prices rocketed by more than a fifth two years running, the Geneva-based International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) said.

“Thousands of people may face starvation in the coming months in the worst-case scenario but the situation is already critical for some 40,000 people,” IFRC’s food security officer in the region Kiflemariam Amdemariam said.

The money would provide food aid for severely-affected people in the Wolaita, Sidama, Moyale and Bale areas south of Addis Ababa for four months until the October harvest.

Further north, the Ethiopian Red Cross had also been distributing millions of litres of water and purification tablets in emergency drought preparedness programmes in East Harage and Afar.

  1. The heading “Distribute the food stored in Tigray region” is wrong. What you need to say is to call for the dismisal of the leaders of the southern people and even call for their removal for they have sold out the interest of the people they were supposed to represent and are not responsible and accountable to their regions. Woyane did what it has to do to its constituient, but the others failed their people. It is this type of failure of such irresponsible so call leaders that need to be exposed, this is the logic that will erode EPRDF and widen the conflict between the leaders and the oppressed people into conflict.

We need a pro-active logic and not a reactive logic which assumes only woyane/melese are responsible and the rest are not!

  2. You are really nonsense to call Tigray as a dry region. Are you telling us that a resource is something green. Is it not the stone (cement) a resource. Just give us only 10 years and we will show you what a resource mean? We are educating our people, we would have strategically important factories, we would have our own army, we would have the desired outlet to … what have you.(for that matter, you can’t do anything. Armed struggle is much easier for us to win than peaceful struggle).
It seems that elias is eager to see 10 independent states in Ethiopia which would not be difficult to achieve after 10 years.

  3. The woyannie Tigraians are begging the money from the West, so that the Woyannies can sell the stored grains in its Tigrai silos in hard currency and make more money transporting it using its own tracks by charging the West at current international grain price.
You may remember where the real Ethiopian gold ended up and where the steel plated gold was discovered. The game is the same. The Woyannie slogan is “tigrai esktlema: ethiopia tdma”. What about the border with Sudan? let part of quara and Armacheho land go, so that Tigrai can keep the welqait-Humera land.

  4. Lidetu:

If stone was a resource, the world will be wallowing with wealth and no one needs to show up to work every morning. Stone is something that we throw away at snakes my friend. I don’t want you to consider this posting as a put down to our fair state of Tigray (is Tigray a state, a Kilil or just plain home of the brave golden race?).

I have to admit that for the last 17 years, the hard working (please read as: looting & stealing) sons and daughters of Tigray have been hard at work to make their fair state the beacon of East African prosperity. They have managed to dismantle all manners of infrastructure (including but not limited to, water pumps, generators, tractors, whole factories and industries) from all corners of Ethiopia and ship it to Tigray to make sure that the golden race gets a lion’s share of the slice. Their admirable work ethics and ingenuity has been priceless. Their attempt at self sufficiency especially in the area of staple food agriculture and production has been a resounding success I am told. Their research with the common cactus plant as a food substitute is one of the wonders of these modern days. Tourists to Tigray say, a wrap of cactus-burritos washed down with a cold glass of cactus juice is, an experience that one will never forgets till to one’s dying days.

The part that I don’t understand is, what are grain silos doing in Tigray? As you mentioned above, our stony province is a dry desert, devoid of any fertile soil and not fit for crops or plantation, save the anecdotal cactus. Looks to me the brave sons of Tigray are, as usual moving grains from the fertile parts of Ethiopia and hoarding it in Tigray, so that their people could have variety in their food; it turns out man can’t live on cactus only.

Do you have a copy of that 10 year TDP (Tigray Development Plan)? I am sure it is bound to be a page turner for anyone who loves Tigray and hates Ethiopia.

  5. it is not far from the truth.the ppl who are elected in the south dont care or sold out to tplf.south is known for its fertility.because of the allocation of resoures, the north has not seen any shortage of food since tplf is in power.it seems that we are under colonization.the colonizers have everything but the colonized is living in hell.tplf is doing what they promised to their suppoter.they are ruling the rest of the country under the barell of a gun.tplf knows that if there is an election ,they gona lose.that is why ethiopia wont see fair election as long as tplf is in power.tigray is now an army garssion.they know that ethiopian ppl are run out of patient .the only option left is tplf knows.that is why they are buying every kind of weapan and stocking tigry with food for the next war.
the surprise thing is the oppostion parties participate for election.it is clear that they goona lose.they dont have a gut to say no to tplf kind of election.the sad thing is every ethiopian put their fate on them .do not elias .he is reporting what is out there ,not his dream.

  6. Elias,

Do not add fuel on a fire. Such a fuel is a good diriving force for weyane. After all the people knows much more than you about the evil nature of weyane.

  7. DRY is your MONKEY ass!

SO desperate and feeling hopeless you try to bring an old and outdated rhetoric TIGRAY is dry (less Ethiopian) but WELAYTA is fertile and green hence, real Ethiopian. HODAM AMARA ! The old hadam Amaras used to say, ye HARARA senga, ye SHENO kibe, yeWELEGA kibe, Yegojam TEFF, yeDOEZE … bla bla They never valued the people but their natural resources, NefteNA HULU. Thanks tO WEYANE they are relegated to the dust-bin of History never to revive.

REGARDING Tigray, the Mother of WeYANEs, Alula, Hayelom, and most importantly Genius MELES…being dry so be it ! So are Israel,Egypt and Nevada. To be civilized and rich you don’t have to live in a jungle like a monkey. That is probably the best place for Sub-human maggot creatures like you.

Apart from wait and SEE TIGRAY in 10 years. Doma Ras ye deha lij.

    I LOVE MELES !

    VIVA WEYANE !

  8. To guest:

accusing “southern leaders” is the same as supporting Woyane in terms of ideology. The Killil apartheid System is set up in such a way that if a problem arises in one kilil, only that kilil has to suffer. Therefore accusing the so called “Wolayita leaders” is the same as saying this system does work.

It would have been good if it worked but it does not. To give you an example, if you accuse the Addis Ababa adminstrators of neglecting their duty, it would be illogical since 90% or more of them are unelected by the people. Holding them responsible or praising them for anything is like deluding oneself into thinking there is any legitimate system in the nation.

Whether what you said is out of ignorance or penny-wise-pound-foolish Woyane propoganda, what Elias said is true! the culprit is the Tigray Mafia.

  9. you are such a thick and sick commentator. What do you base your assessment on when you say food prices are 50% less in Tigray ? And what the heck do you mean when you ask the daft question of ‘how come we don’t hear of price hikes in Tigray ?’ what have you done to answer the sick stupid question you are asking before you can jump to your utterly dumb conclusion of ‘it’s all plenty in Tigray’.

You work for the maverick Shabia gang master. So no wonder nothing sensible comes of your filthy mind. Banda !!!!!!

  10. hey guys, u all push the tigray ppl as far as to hate the other ethnics, especially the amharas. You also push the tigray ppl as far as to support meles dearly, of course we do. you are loosers.

It’s sad and immoral of u to call tigray is dry. isn’t tigray part of ethiopia? well, if not, rot to hell under the colonisation of tigray…….shame on u……

    and, the news says this:

The money would provide food aid for severely-affected people in the Wolaita, Sidama, Moyale and Bale areas south of Addis Ababa for four months until the October harvest.

Further north, the Ethiopian Red Cross had also been distributing millions of litres of water and purification tablets in emergency drought preparedness programmes in East Harage and Afar

Not even mention a single thing about tigray.

Long live meles, no tigray is going to support or feel sympathy for u. we r mobilising tigrayan ppl to support meles forever.

    yechenekachuh zeregnoch alqashoch……kkkkkkk

  11. Millions of Ethiopians are quite aware of what the robbers are stealing from the rest of the blessed regions of Ethiopia and shipped it to the hanve-not Tigray.

From time immemorial, these people have been sinful and secretive and have always been complaining about God that he made them devoid of a wonderful harvest and refused them to hear. The more they steal from the rest of the blessed regions of Ethiopia, the more cursed they are.

Yes, it is true: When these robbers came into Ethiopia, they had nothing but a lot guns and bullets to loot and murder Ethiopians. You, woyanaetplf supporters, foolish talk will get you into a lot of trouble; looting the wealth and grains of Ethiopia is like setting a trap to destroy yourself.

Whatever edible things you steal from the rest of Ethiopia shall melt your mouth.

  12. Ayie Ethiopia, firde gamdilwa Hagare,

Sinde na Teff amirachu bado hudu kere,

    Dingay lay tewoldo, qatiffo, zerfo,

    Yelijochishin demi metto

    segwan belto atintuwan agniko,

    Aye imiye Etopia,

    yegadelesh bella.

    Aye Ethiopia,
    aye idille bisuwa..

  13. Gobeze,
Calm down, boy. Are still thinking with your dedebit thinking?

There is no Tigry without Ethiopia and there is no Ethiopia without Tigry. Few woyanes after dedebit don’t represent Tigry. You are really stupid associating Alula and others with Criminal woyanes.

As far as Tigry concern, there are more than 9 Ethnic groups living there. Namelly: Tigris, Amharas, Afars, Agews, Oromos, tatars, Irobs, Kunamas, Tigres and others, too. Half of the woyane with gun created Tigry territory belongs not as you think the way woyane do but to other Ethnic groups. Shabia is demanding Badme after more than hundred years agreement referring words. While Woyane used force and crimes against humanity including ethnic cleansing to take vast land from all sides don’t belong to them in order to create a fake so called Tigry state since 1991. The Ethiopian 14 regions/provinces are known by UN since 1945. So, any territory taken from other regions of Ethiopia by force to Tigry is illegal and against the UN charter. So, when the time comes, all issues will be settled according to the UN recognition to our regions.

The only fertile land Tigry has today is the land taken by force from wollo and Gonder since 1991. I admit you have plenty stones. that is why you have a cement factory, too. Yet, the price of the cement is reached to the sky. Because with woyane even the stone which is their wealth is become too expensive to Ethiopians. You bastard, you are forcing Ethiopians to import cement while the country has a large amount of stone wealth all over the country. Shame and it is a crime against the nation.

What I tell you is that you are not representing the God loving and generous Ethiopians living in Tigry. You are a Banda and woyane cadre killed many innocent lives and know is abandoned by woyane. You are a blood trusty woyane will no have a better future at all.

  14. I am just telling my experience 5 years back while I was working as Resident Engineer for one of the biggest project in different parts of Tigrai Kilil(kilte awlalo, shire endessellasie,Korem,Adua and Axum). That was the time I have trully recognised TPLF is really a racist regime who stand only for the narrow interest its own tribe.

I am very sorry to say that two of the projects(complex silos)which had cost about 3.25 billion birr was almost waste of money. In addition to that TPLF gang leaders again budgeted another 5 billion birr projects of the same kind which I know that it is now under construction. The development is good, but it should not be at the expense of innocent and poor Ethiopian in other parts of the country. Moreover those huge cost were unnecessary. The group is really a curse to Ethiopian people.

    Shame to tplf

  15. Wayane time is over. They are now using their last life line my fellow Ethiopian. We have to be one and united especially to this time; no more wayane old bambozling. They knew it, we know it, even their supporter did that. Lets keep fighting them by all meanse. This is our time.

  16. The ambitious Meles Seitanawi wants Tigray to be an independent country, and when that happens, Meles will be crowned as king of Tigray; therefore, he has to store, not food alone in Tigray but also gold, land, soil, camel, cows, and everything that is found important in the rest of the country must be stored and kept secretly in Tigray. If the food collected so far is not enough to feed the destitute Tigrians, then Meles must order the people of Tigray not to destroy the locusts but to collect them for food. What else one can do in an arid and cursed land – the land of the mendicant Agame?

  17. Tigray region is very dry compared to other regions in Ethiopia. That’s just a fact. You guys need to stop insulting those who dare speak against or critisize any actions favorizing Tigray region. The weyannes are a bunch of thieves.

  18. Hi Haters. Make no mistakes. The only force that can dismantle woyane is its own internal problem i.e. division among tigrians. Thats what the history tells us. The more you reveal your hating against the people of Tigray, the more the people gets unity among itself. Including the banda kinijits from Tigray (such as Abraha Belai and Getachew Reda) would be in a position to revisit their thoughts. This would in turn lengthen the reign of EPRDF by additional 20 years. Consequently, most of you would not see Ethiopia while you are alive. Your dead body might only go to Ethiopia.

    Surafel

I am neither a supporter of woyane nor a politician. But when I read something that disregards the people of my locality (Tigray) it makes me sick. Mistake number one in politians is to associate a certain people with a political party. The people of Tigray had been there before TPLF and it would certainly be there after TPLF. A political party comes at one point and goes at another point. But the people is always there to live with other Ethiopians. A wise politician does not cultivate enemy but converts ‘enemy’ into friend.

  19. Dear Editor,

I’ve never posted any comments on this page earlier. But as the more I read these comments the more itching they became. Thus, I am compelled to put some of my thoughts for you to consider.

Let’s come back to our senses guys. One cannot talk of a united Ethiopia and chant the slogan of hatred at the same time. If we objectively look into the history of Ethiopia there have always been inequities in Ethiopia – be it during Menelik II, Hailesellassie II, or Dergue. Meles’ case is no exception. One regime comes and favours a certain group and another comes and it will have its own darlings. Unfortunately, all of these favouritism were ethnic based. Sad! Ethiopia has never been lucky in this regard I would say. Ain’t you not tired about this [mal]practice yet? But I don’t think we are going to solve it the way we are handling it. Thus, the reason for me to sit down drop a line or two.

We had great history but trailing behind by every single objective measure. We have [considerable] resources, but still have people starving to death. We have become a typical example of famine in all credible scientific literature. We have dragged our identity down to a cheap brand, if we have any brand after all. And, the paradox is that we are still talking about this divisive and dishonest politics. Shame on us! And we think we can kick the well founded establishments of Meles while we couldn’t establish ourselves. Let’s wake up fellow Ethiopians!!!

I don’t know of an Ethiopia without Tigray. It is only the hatred propaganda that Meles and his co. has sawn on us that echoes in our thoughts. I don’t think we can possibly solve the current impasse back home while we are the victims of the same mental state – “ethnicity/racism” – that Meles has created within us.

Believe me Meles will continue his favouritism so long as he is there. We are not going to solve this by insulting the honoured people of Tigray. We can only solve this problem by demonstrating that there is a bigger cake [even for the people of Tigray] which is enough for all of us if we unite. Luckily all of the states [the ‘kilils’ to use the current language] have their own unique resources. If we put all of them together, we can end up having an even bigger cake. It is this abundance mentality that can take us out of this quagmire. Sadly, our leaders could never get out of the scarcity mind set. That is probably why they reduce themselves down to favouring just a certain [small] village while they have the privilege of governing the entire country of 80 million people.

Any person who thinks of a viable political platform in present Ethiopia needs the will of all of the people, including the people of Tigray. They have an equal role to play to move the mounts in Addis. But if we keep on chanting the hatred slogan, we will have an uphill battle to win the will of the coveted people of Tigray. Well! That will only extend the tenure of fear mongers in Addis. Don’t forget they were willing to reduce the honoured people of Ethiopia to go into inter-ham-we like genocide of Rwanda.

Dear fellow Ethiopians, let’s get out of the box in which Meles and co. is pushing to bar us in.

    Long live Ethiopia.

  20. Hi Elias,
What do you expect to get out such divisive talk? This is just FALSE. And the only beneficiary of such racial tone is Woyanne.
Let’s stand together and Topple down our comment Armagedeon.

  21. Dear Gobeze I very shame on you. you said yedihalij. Who are you afterall. Are you a son of rock feller? Doma ras is yous sutable name. please try to think like a human rather than A donkey or a dog.
