Berhanu Nega to make major announcement

Addis Ababa Mayor-Elect Dr Berhanu Nega and colleagues are preparing to make a major announcement next Wednesday in Washington DC, about their future political move. They have scheduled a press conference at the Ethiopian Television Network’s studio on May 14 at 4:00 PM. All Ethiopian and other media are invited to the press conference.

According to sources close to Dr Berhanu, the group will announce the formation of a new political movement that will aim to bring about an end to the Woyanne bloody regime in collaboration with other Ethiopian organizations, including those that are waging armed struggle.

The press conference will be aired live via Ethiopian Review Radio Network, Ethiopian Current Affair Discussion Forum, and other media.

VOA, DW, EriTV, Addis Dimts and other radio programs are also expected to air the press conference to their audience in Ethiopia.

  3. I always thought Dr. Berihanu is very intelligent and reasonable! I hope G7M (Ginbot 7 Movement) will galvanize the cooperation of all Liberation Fronts and Democratic Forces to get rid of the fascist Weyane and build national self-determination with multinational democracy in the region called Ethiopia in particular and in Horn Africa in general!!!

Despite the endless name calling by Woyane cadres and egotistical political clowns who have failed to produce anything, you risen above all that and have become a shining fellow countryman.

Berhanu nega had already discussion with the newly formed united front in north ethiopia and trying to revive AFD…watch berhanu nega doing the magic!! by the way, andargachew tsigie has already visited the arbognoch and other fighters in the field via asmara! soon after the wednsday announcemnt Berhanu negea will also travel to eritrean to strengthen the relationship between eritrea and fighting forces on the ground.

    Ethiopia Zare (ዓርብ ሚያዝያ 30 ቀን 2000 ዓ.ም. May 09, 2008)፦ በቅርቡ ከቅንጅት ለአንድነትና ለዲሞክራሲ ፓርቲም ሆነ አሁን እንደአዲስ ከተቋቋመው አንድነት ለዲሞክራሲና ለፍትህ ፓርቲ ራሳቸውን ያገለሉት ዶ/ር ብርሃኑ ነጋና አጋሮቻቸው ግንቦት ሰባት ንቅናቄ በሚል ስያሜ አዲስ የፖለቲካ ድርጅት አቋቁመው በመጭው ሳምንት ግንቦት 6 ቀን 2000 ዓ.ም. ለህዝብ ይፋ ሊያደርጉ መሆኑን ታማኝ ምንጮቻችን ገለጹ።

    ግንቦት ስድስት ቀን የሚሰጠው ይፋ መግለጫ በአሜሪካን አገር በሚገኘው በኢትዮጵያ የቴሌቭዥን ኔትወርክ (ETN) ጣቢያ ሲሆን፣ የተለያዩ ሚዲያዎችን በመጥራት በሚደረገው ጋዜጣዊ መግለጫ ዶ/ር ብርሃኑን ጨምሮ የድርጅቱ መስራቾች እንደሚገኙ ተጠቁሟል። በፕሮግራሙ ላይ የአሜሪካ ድምጽ፣ የጀርመን ሬዲዮ፣ የፓልቶክ ክፍሎች፣ ዌብ ሳይቶችና ሌሎች የተለያዩ ሚዲያዎች መጋበዛቸውን ለማወቅ ችለናል።

    የግንቦት 7 ንቅናቄ መመሥረትን በማስመልከት በሚዘጋጀው ጋዜጣዊ መግለጫ ላይ፤ የግንቦት 7 ንቅናቄ አካል የሆኑ የድረ-ገፅ፣ የሬዲዮ እና የቴሌቪዥን ጣቢያዎቻቸውን ይፋ እንደሚያደርጉ ምንጮቻችን ገልጸዋል፡፡ድርጅቱን፣ ራዲዮ ጣቢያውና የድረ-ገጹም ስያሜ ከታሪካዊው ግንቦት 7 ቀን ጋር ተያያዥነት እንዳለው የጠቆሙት ምንጮቻችን ሙሉ ስያሜውን ግንቦት 6 ቀን በሚሰጡት መግለጫ ይፋ ያደርጋሉ ተብሎ ይጠበቃል።

    እነ ዶ/ር ብርሃኑ ነጋ በመግለጫቸው ላይ በዝርዝር ያቀርቡታል ከተባለው ከንቅናቄው የፖለቲካ ግቦች መካከል ነው በማለት ምንጮች የጠቆሙት የመንግሥትን ሥልጣን ለመያዝ ሳይሆን በኢትዮጵያ ፖለቲካ ያገባኛል የሚሉ ሁሉም ኃይሎች ጋር በመተባበር በሕዝብ ፍላጎትና ውሳኔ የሚገዛ ሰላማዊ፣ ሕጋዊና ዴሞክራሲያዊ የሆነ የፖለቲካ ሥልጣን አያያዝ ሂደት በኢትዮጵያ ለማስጀመር መሆኑን ይገልጻል።

    በመጪው ረቡዕ ግንቦት 6 በይፋ መመሥረቱን የሚያስታውቀው የግንቦት 7 ንቅናቄን የትግል ስልትና መርሆዎች አስመልክቶ ምንጮቻችን እንደጠቆሙት፤ ንቅናቄው ቀኖናዊ በሆነ መንገድ የሚከተለው የትግል ስልት አለመኖሩን ጠቁመው፣ የትግል ስልቱ የኢትዮጵያን ተጨባጭና የተለየ ሁኔታ ግምት ውስጥ በማስገባት ሁለገብ የሆነ የትግል ሥልት በተግባር ላይ በማዋል የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ በምርጫ 97 የተጎናጸፈውን የሞራል የበላይነት እንዲከበር ለማድረግ ቆርጠው መነሳታቸውን በጽሁፍ ማስፈራቸው ታውቋል።

    በተጨማሪም በቅርብ ጊዜ በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ ተሞክሮ የነበረውን ሠላማዊ የትግል ሥልት ጠንካራና ደካማ ጎኖችን በመገምገም መስተካከል ያለበትን አስተካክሎ እንደ አስፈላጊነቱ በሥራ እንደሚያውል ይገልፃል። ንቅናቄው ከዚህ ጋር በተያያዘ፤ ሠላማዊ ትግል ሲባል በሥልጣን ላይ ያሉት ገዢዎች ሠላማዊ ነው ብለው እንዳሻቸው የሚደነግጉት ነው ባሉት አፋኝ ሕግ የሚገዛ እንደማይሆን ማስፈራቸውን ምንጮቻችን የገለጹ ሲሆን፣ በአንፃሩ ሕገወጥ የሆኑ ሕጎችን፣ ደንቦችን፣ መመሪያዎችን በቂ ዝግጅት በተደረገበት የሕዝባዊ ሠላማዊ እንቢተኝነት በመጣስ የሚከናወን መሆኑን ይጠቁማል።

    ታማኝ ምንጮቻችን ንቅናቄው ከሌሎች መሰል የፖለቲካ ኃይላት ጋር ለሚያደርገው ትብብር የሚገለገልባቸው መሠረታዊ እሴቶችን በተመለከተ እንደገለጹት፣ የግንቦት 7 ንቅናቄ በቅድሚያ ማናቸውም በአገሪቱ ፖለቲካ ያገባኛል የሚሉ ኃይሎች፣ በሥልጣን ላይ ያለው መንግሥታዊ አገዛዝ ጨምሮ የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ በዜግነት እንጂ በተገዢነት መኖርን የማይቀበል መሆኑን ተረድተው፣ የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ በዜግነቱም የሚገቡትን መብቶች ተከብረውለት ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ ለሚፈጠረው የሕዝብ ምስፍናን ላረጋገጠ መንግሥታዊ ሥርዓት ሁሉም በጋራ እንዲሠራ የሚጠይቅ መሆኑን ያመለክታል።

    ከዚሁ በመቀጠል ንቅናቄው የፖለቲካ ኃይሎች ትብብር ዋና ዓላማ ሥልጣን ያለውን መንግሥት ወደ ድርድር እንዲመጣ ወይም ከሥልጣን እንዲወርድ ብቻ ሳይሆን በቦታው ዲሞክራሲያዊ መንግሥታዊ አስተዳደር በኢትዮጵያ ለመተካት እስከሆነ ድረስ፣ የፖለቲካ ኃይሎች ትብብር አባላት በሙሉ በጋራ የሚስማሙባቸውን የማይጣሱና የማይገሰጹ የትብብሩ የፖለቲካ እሴቶች በቅድሚያ መቀመጥ እንዳለባቸው በመግለጫቸው ለማተት መዘጋጀታቸው ታውቋል።

    እነዚህ የፖለቲካ እሴቶች የኢትዮጵያን ሉዓላዊ አንድነት መቀበል፣ የፖለቲካ ሥልጣን፣ በአገር አቀፍ ይሁን ከዚያ በታች በሚገኙ አስተዳደራዊ አሐዶች ውስጥ የሚያዘው ዜጎች በእኩልነት በሚሰጡት የአንድ ሰው አንድ ድምፅ ሥርዓት መሆኑን ማመን፣ የትብብሩ የትግል ዓላማ ሥልጣን ለመያዝ ሳይሆን ሥልጣን በሕዝብ ፈቃድ የሚያዝበትን ነፃና ዴሞክራሲያዊ ሁኔታ ለማመቻቸት መሆኑን የተጠቆመ ሲሆን፤ በንቅናቄው የተጠቀሱትን መሠረታዊ እሴቶች ከተቀበሉ ማናቸውም ዓይነት ተመሳሳይ የፖለቲካ፣ የኢኮኖሚና የማኅበራዊ ፖሊሲዎች ካሏቸው፣ የራሳቸውም የሆኑ አደረጃጀቶችን የሚጠቀሙና የትግል ሥልት የሚከተሉ የፖለቲካና ፖለቲካዊ ካልሆኑ ቡድኖች ጋር በትብብር ለመሥራት ፈቃደኛ መሆኑን የምንጮቻችን ዘገባ ያስረዳል።

  17. Good morning everyone. Everybody is excited I guess. I dont know what the anouncement will be all about, but if it is about getting rid of the famous recist and arogant leaders and putting them where they belong-in the history book, it will be fantastic. Lets wait and see on wednsday. If so, every body should contribute his/her share in putting sons who shame their mother out of sight. If Dr. Berhanu is some one sent from God to save the shamed mother, well, we can say- VIVA Dr.!

    We have been hearing about these so called ‘fighting forces’ in the north for eons and I believe there were a lot of notable personalities visiting these forces including Solomon Tekalign and Demes Belete. However, as much as we hear about these forces (ginbar) and the brave Ethiopians visiting them, we never hear anything about their exploits like attacks on the enemy, or what they are doing out there in Eritrea or nearby.

    Frankly, when people talk about these forces (ginbar), I have the image of former Russian cosmonauts, sitting out there in space for months at stretch, doing nothing except perhaps measure each other’s heartbeat from time to time. My question is, if there are armed forces trained and visit worthy, why haven’t they been fighting Woyanie till now? Are they waiting for their new name, if they are going to be called ‘Ye Ginbot 7 Hailoch’ that is? Please forgive my ignorance but, to me these forces look and sound more like a magnet for visitors than a fighting outfit.

  22. This reminds me about Moses (Muse) of the bible who led Jews to Fredom and then reclaim their promised land.

    I am hoping that these brave citzens would have the oportunity to taste the fredom they fought, unlike Muse who died before he saw all he wished to see all his life.

    Like Muse, Berhanu and Co. are promised that longivity and a wonderful place in History.

  23. Please do not make things ridiclously philosophical….GENBAR etc…..what is that…Ethiopians are under a tyrant regime that has weapons up to its ASSSSSS.Including Tanks, Missiles, planes…….What is a big a deal about protecting and fighting the with Missiles…

    There should not be philosphy on how to remove the PARASITES in power…they shold be removed using pesticides…..you got it…that is how parasites disappear….

  24. if eritrean opposition groups who were founders of the jebha and eritrean independence initiators like the kilefa’s, mohammods, salhi’s could gather in the ehart of ethiopia and not the ethiopian opposition groups in Asmara? if meles could host 15 parties and 500 delegation of eritrean former fighters , why not ethiopian opposition groups make Asmara their headquarter? why would the ethiopian opposition be affarid the shabia lebel from number one shabia himself meles zenawi? Ethiopians we need to think long hard before opposing the fact that Asmara is naturaly ally to unseat the vampire in Addis! I am glad Berhanu nega and Andargachew are far sighted enough to endorse this notion and embrace the support from eritrea!!

  25. Am ready to support and participate in the fight which effectively avoids woyane of any sort. I think we have so many ways of doing it. It is good to do it in an organised manner, we should know that there is a strong urge to defend our selves from kitregnoch.
    End to the suffering of Ethiopian! We will rebuild our country afresh and strongly! To do that we have to scarify.

  26. Now I see a glimps of hope in the light at the other end of the tunnel, which for some years and months, specially after may 2005 election had been fading away. We ethiopians could be easlity mobilized for good couse very easily. I addition to our seferings, our land is being given away to countries, whom we, as a people have never heard, if there was a problem. It is simply given away as some exchange. Expect even much more damage to our country if the life of woyane continous. We will fight for our freedom!!! Bravo Dr!!

    You have to understand that it is not easy for new organizations to deliver perhaps what you and I expect – total victory over the Weyane and peaceful and harmonious relathionship with Eritrea. They need time to get experience and mature so to speak. But, when the Ethiopian Diaspora is so divided and somewhat incohessive, it is really difficult for those fighters to get the undivided attention and support they deserve. But, many Ethiopians would rather talk, talk and talk and of course blame Shaebia for any and evry problem the country faces. That has to stop and the Ethiopian arbegnoch need to be supported and the natural relationship with Eritrea must be restored. Unless those things are done, as a minimum, our wish of living in peace and tranquility will remain just that – wish!

The well known east africa terrorist group from tegeray[TPLF] is not wqell organized and not strong enough to resist the ethiopia’s people struggle against terrorism in ethiopia. but TPLF has been using our weakest side . our division on ethnice line. that helps for our common enemies. our common enemies all the tegeray’s terrorists should be punished accordingly their crime aganist our innocent people and our poor country.   29. Let’s not let our affectionate attitude towards Dr. Berhanu block us from reading his book carefully, objectively and thoroughly. Indeed, , Dr. Berhanu was asked NO QUESTION AT ALL (that was based on his book) during his appearances in meetings in various cities in the USA). To careful readers, however, his book reveals that:
    1) During election 1997, he did not have sufficient understanding of the nature and tactics of the EPRDF. Well, even a soccer team (let alone a national opposition party) may not win if it does not know its opponent’s tactics, techniques and overall game style.

    2) Dr. Berhanu’s opposition to the EPRDF has, in my opinion, lacked the intensity of that of ordinary Ethiopians. His sole criticism of the EPRDF has been that it is not democratic. Indeed the EPRDF is not democratic at all, but being accused SOLELY for lack of democracy (as almost all previous governments of Ethiopia may be) can only please the EPRDF. Rarely has Dr. Berhanu addressed such specifically EPRDF sins as the loss of Assab, the division of Ethiopia along ethnic lines, the expulsion of University professors and other employees due to their ethnicity or perceived opposition to the EPRDF and the suffering of Professor Asrat Woldeyes.

    Dr. Berhanu can benefit Ethiopia by enhancing his understanding of both the EPRDF’s nature and strategy and the frustration of ordinary Ethiopians BEFORE he leads any opposition, peaceful or armed.

  32. I have a great respect to Dr. Berhanu. He tried through peaceful means and paid a lot of sacrifies to his mother land and his peaple. I think he is right,and the restoration of Ethiopians pride and unite canbe also achived through “Blood and Iron.”

  36. I am not the least bit surprised Dr Berhanu has stepped up to the plate. He has the courage and conviction to see this through. At this juncture in time we need to open up to the resources thats are available to us in order to be successful in unseating the regime in our country Ethiopia. Weyane only can be removed by force. Our neighbours who are willing to help in this blessed en devour are in this fight along side us. Dr Berhanu has to be diplomatic in his approach.. but nonetheless has to approach…..Asmara!

    The fight is only beginning but there is now light at the end of the tunnel.
