Additional 14,000 Woyanne troops arrive in Somalia

Posted on

(Press TV) Thousands of Somali citizens flee their homes as more than 14,000 Ethiopian Woyanne soldiers have entered the East African nation’s territories.

Over 9,000 of the troops with armored vehicles are heading to the Capital, Mogadishu after crossing the border, a PressTV correspondent reported on Monday.

There are grave concerns about heavy clashes between Ethiopians Woyannes and the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) fighters in the area between Afgoye (less than 250 Km away from the Capital) and Mogadishu where thousands of displaced people are living in refugee camps.

Warning leaflets have been distributed in the camps, urging the people to leave the place as clashes may erupt any time.

It is also reported that over 5,000 other Ethiopian Soldiers have reached near Belet Weyne town, the Hiiraan regional capital in central Somalia.

The citizens of the region are also fleeing their homes to save their lives because of a highly volatile situation.

  1. Imitating the “surge” but nothing can defeat the national liberation UPSURGE!

History moving two steps forwards but some times one step backwards with that ultimate shining torch that will never be extinguished.

  2. The US economy is now at its worst and this is mainly due to the unncessary war in Iraqe. Same thing is happening in Ethiopia. As you all know, the cost of living in Ethiopia is soaring. And yet the tax payer’s money is unncessarly spent in Somalia. Woyanie is spending tax payer’s money to fight against our innocent brothers in Somalia.

  3. OKKKKKKKKkkk…everybody had being saying, “even Tigry didn’t spare from weyane assault”, now after nearly 2 years of blood shed in Somalia can the Tigry people say, “enough is enough. . . no more of our troops to Somalia be it 1 soldier or 14,000”.. or they are still silent until the dooms day. People this Somalia thing was created by Meles and Frazer and this madness MUST be stopped because the only people and region that is suffering are people. Ms. Frazer will be unemployed soon and collect her fat retirement check while enjoying her pork chop in her back yard!

  4. USA has more than 140,000 troops and very sophisticated weapons in Iraq, and still unable to defeat the insurgency. weyane do not need more troops, they just need more thinking.
if they start thinking, which i do not think they do right now, there will be no troops in Somalia at all. they suppose to learn from Iraq. just get out Meles BADO RAS.

  5. It don’t matter wayene T.P.L.F.’s “Additional 14,000 troops arrive in Somalia” even if T.P.L.F. sends additional 100,000 Plus troops in Somalia. Why? because its not how much troops or MIG-29 fighter they have! The KEY Things here is “You have to win the heart of the people” with out it everything is Zero!! We saw that in the past about Mass troops and MIG fighter it did not let to stay in Power for Marxist ruler Mengistu Haile Mariam. The same thing with T.P.L.F. You have no supporter in Somalia just get out of there!! Somalia isn’t like Ethiopia like 17 years ago… like you will get ” Well come with an open arms” the Ethio people sicken tired of “Derge” that’s how it was its wasn’t about winning of war at that time. Now 17 years later what did T.P.L.F. Learn from this? NOTHING! But I believe T.P.L.F. didn’t see that..they though they are a war heros LoooL. Other ways T.P.L.F would not dare to enter in Somalia after what happend to the USA In Somalia years ago.
Unfortunately in the process the poor Ethio guys are dying there for the things they don’t even belive in just to make a living and to support their family’s so sad…

  6. What sad news for the people of Ethiopia and Somalia?
We don’t even know how many Ethiopian soldiers lost their lives for a proxy war that doesn’t concern them whatsoever? If only the “AGAZI” dies it was understandable because they needed the war to stay in power with their brutal leader, but we know there are lots of poor soldiers who are forced to kill their fellow brother Somalis. This perpetration is done in the name of “war on international terrorism”.
While we know any form of terrorism is dangerous and we have to resist it worldwide, we shouldn’t allow a known terrorist group who slaughters his own people continue to murder a once sovereign but now sadly enough a “failed state” neighboring country. Why should we add insult to the Somalis’ people’s bad wounds? Why don’t we leave Somalia alone to solve its own problem? Why not Somalis decide their fate by themselves and the World may only support them to take the right step? Is “fighting terrorists” by the use of another, but may be “legal terrorist groups” acceptable?
    Why is the world silent?
It has been announced that over 9 million people are at the brink of starvation in Ethiopia. We have heard also about the inflation rate and difficult life of fellow Ethiopians. Then why is the resources of a country which sadly enough is in misery be spent to perpetrate another crime in the name of Ethiopia? Something has badly gone wrong here!
I think every Somali and every Ethiopian has to condemn this criminal act and refrain from going to another war.
In fact the whole world has to condemn this act!
    Sad, sad story for Somalia!
    Sad, sad story for Ethiopia!
Sad, sad story for all human kind!

  7. To Andinet,

I smell emotional, awful and narrow thinking in your written words, unlike animals, Human being is endowed a very sophisticated reasoning tool (Brain).

But I think yours is inverted one a little similar like donkey with big ayes and ears. “Protect yours add others”……. consider the plight faced by the Ogadenise, Oromos, Gambellas, Sidamos etc…..and ethnic cleansing operations in our own country rather than diverting the internal political unrest!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. i think its sad that people’s words are not heard these day. somali and Ethiopia citizens who all want the fighting to stop have no say in this! this is very sad and heart breaking to know that people that suppose to protect us, are the same ones playing this proxy war of USA. they’ve been used to kill their own people. The president of somalia and Ethiopia have no respect for their own people. they should be brought to justice and hunged along with Bush and Brown. we should take the evil out of somalia n Ethiopia. if that means going against our own leaders, so beat it! but the fact remains that innocent people are been killing in Somalia whilst more 9m Ethiopians are dying of starvation. we need better learders, a one that can bring Somalia and Ethiopia close as allies, not enemies. a one that has interest in the people of East Africa. and we need it now. how long would it take before these greedy power hungary learders realise their actions have gone too far?

  9. foreign mecerenarry melese is following the feet steps of his boss bush. bush sent 20,000 USA’s soldiers in iraq, but they can not win the war. the spirit of Iraq’s liberation front. melese is doing the same thing. but The tegere’s narrow minded intellectuals who are supporting the invasion will not win the war. they will be taken to international court at the end of the day for their genocide.

  10. Woyane is scratching parts that do not itch. The result? More wounds to itself. I am sad because my Ethiopians and Somalian brothers are dying for no apparent reason. Woyane’s blunder will only lead to the destruction of both states and to a sense of animosity between the two nations. However, the people of Ethiopia and Somalia, who are by large far-sighted and more sensible than a bunch of Woyane gangs, realize that this is a war by Woyane about nothing but just to buy more time on the hot seat. We have not seen it working elsewhere and it will not work for Woyane, too!!!

  11. hi brother and sisters ethiopians

Somalia: 5 Ethiopian soldiers killed in Mogadishu roadside bomb
    9 Apr 9, 2008 – 8:22:34 PM

MOGADISHU, Somalia Apr 9 (Garowe Online) – An Ethiopian army truck driving through the Somali capital on Wednesday hit a landmine, killing at least five soldiers on board and wounding others, witnesses said.

The remotely-detonated explosion completely destroyed the army truck and sent plumes of smoke into the air.

Ethiopian army reinforcements rushed to the area and pulled the wrecked truck from the scene of the explosion.

No suspects were arrested for the roadside bombing, but security sources believe it is the work of insurgents aiming to topple the country’s Ethiopian-backed interim government.

In a separate attack, African Union peacekeepers from Burundi were the target of a roadside explosion that hit their vehicle, wounding an unconfirmed number of soldiers on board.

At least two Somali civilians were wounded by the blast, our correspondent reported.

A day earlier, AU peacekeepers from Burundi were the target of a suicide car bombing that killed one peacekeeper and wounded six civilians.

Somalia’s capital has known little but near-daily shootouts, roadside bombings and assassinations since Ethiopian troops helped oust Islamist rulers from Mogadishu in early 2007.

The Islamists have regrouped since and are believed responsible for a relentless wave of guerrilla attacks that has virtually crippled the weak interim government and its foreign military backers.
