Time to break glass

Statement from Tegbar

Tegbar has noticed the recent talk of armed struggle and whether or not Kinijt should seek such alternative. It is a question posed on Ethiopian Review, with various interesting responses including one that appears on ethiomedia. So, should armed struggle be an option, or should it leave the table? … Continue reading >>

  1. i cannot believe what i am reading…armed struggle!
what am i saying, never mind, I had to remind myself that most of your readers and contributors are all talk but if they were not i would be worried that such a measure would be seen as the alternative. You forget you are trying to fight the very fighters who, truth be told, emancipated us from oh, yes, the Derg!
In time all things will make themselves known, a little more rope and Meles will hang HIMSELF, as they all do!

  2. The very first idea of Kinijit is to avoid blood shade and to win dictators by fighting them based on peace full struggle.

We have been witnessed that in the election two years ago. Some can choose alternative method of struggle but not Kinijit. The main question now is do we have the same momentum like two years ago? I would like to have answer for this question.

  3. I do not think we have the luxury of time to debate over whether peaceful or armed struggle is better for Ethiopia while we are massacred under the ruthless mafia group Woyane. It is a matter of saving the country and the society from destruction. No peace while woyne is on power, it is like a snake coiled on our head, No choice other than killing the killers!

  4. I agree with you guys. TPLF offices had been in business transfering dollar and other curency to Ethiopia. They were the money changers all over the world. So what has changed now?

  5. Yes, we as Ethiopians have suffered tremendously in the hands of the TPLF thugs. Mellesse and his criminals have to go. However, we should also plan and prepare for the day after. We have to prepare now to avoid fragmentation and domination by external forces and enemies. We don’t want this to be as they say “keditu wede mattu” i.e. from bad to worst.

I say this because we Ethiopians have been manipulated by our enemies in the past. It seems our enemies take us for naïves and fools. Issaias Afework was and will continue to be our country’s enemy. He was the main architect behind the demise of as he un-shamefully still says the “Ethiopian Empire”. He was born and brought up in hate anything Ethiopian. He started his rebellion by claiming that Eritrea is Arab. He then proceeded with undermining Ethiopia and Ethiopians. He fought our country for thirty years. He claimed he has given Ethiopia and Ethiopians home work for the next one hundred years. He created the fake independence of a province whose population elected to be part of the Ethiopian empire freely and by majority vote in the fifties. He created, developed, armed, and supported TPLF first and now the OLF, ONLF, and a host of others. Even now he is setting up ethnic based “freedom fighters” to fight TPLF. These EPLF supported ethnic groups are still fighting to “liberate themselves from their country”. Isayas is still dreaming and bent on fighting to dismantle the none-existing “Ethiopian Empire”.

Yes, bringing down TPLF at any cost necessary should be considered as an option. However, any type of direct or indirect support, control, and guidance of EPLF is tantamount to national suicide and treason. Isayas will never be satisfied until Ethiopia is no more. His enmity to Ethiopia is beyond anyone’s comprehension. He still divides the so call EPLF supported “Ethiopian Fronts” into ethnic groups. His intelligence agency organizes them to function separately based on their ethnicity. Seeing what is coming from the EPLF communication will tell us his modus oprandi. Every Ethiopian defecting to Eritrea is immediately identified and separated by his ethnicity. United Ethiopia is anathema for Isayas.

  6. I wonder when people talk about the peaceful struggle for a grave problem we are in as a country. Please, is there anyone who can help me understand a peaceful struggle in a country where the government is controlling the the media houses? It is terrible even to comperehend that a country that got it’s first tellephone connection in 1889 has only one TV Station (controlled by the government). Peaceful struggle works in a country where there is a flow of information. If the people cannot speak what they feel and get the kind of information they want then what choice do we have as a nation?

At times we are forced to make a tough decisions so as to overcome all our challengs and attain our objectives. I think it is a high time for us to make that hard dicisions as we are left with no options.

May God bless Ethiopia and guied its true leaders on what to do in a situation like this.

    God bless.

    Hab.

  7. It is not time for the Ethiopians to go to armed struggle. The ones who are running it must refrain from supporting it. The local situations have been changed so much; I believe we must start from the people themselves who are going to sustain any armed struggle if it is started. Any party who could claim he can run a war with out the population is absolutely wrong. The people in Ethiopia are destitute and economically penniless and they could not even feed themselves. There is hunger, disease and HIV/ADIS sweeping the country. How can someone could raise a strong army amid such a national catastrophes? I wonder if we start another civil war we might be readying a nation that have been sickly on a bed to just kill her off or speed up her death.

In addition I am very much worried that we should not fight each other at this time because supper powers from Europe, Asia and America are eying Africa to recolonise us. Ethiopians should be able to defend for the whole country and the continent of Africa as we had been doing it for a very long time. I could see the Chinese are coming and Indians are following the leads from Asia; American have been in the continent for a very long time and they have been intensifying their presence in the continent since the second world war. Since the American had won the cold war in 1985 they have been readying to conquer the whole world and build an empire as the Romans had done in history. The American right wing scholars have been advocating that and the republican party seems to endorse it. The weakest place to start the American empire expansion would be Africa. In particular it must be Ethiopia. Since Roosevelt and Haile Sellassie shook hands on battle ship in Alexandria Egypt in 1947, Americans have been systematically building their grips of the continent of Africa. Their special venue has been the OAU that had located its office in the capital city of Ethiopia.

Now when the Russians had gone to counter balance the American hegemony for the continent; if we fight with each other let alone defending the continent we may not be able to defend for our poor nation.

Ethiopians failed so many times to see the biggest conspiracy that comes with a civil war in our country. It is like you stab your body and bleed yourself and they hyenas watching you and advise you how to bleed to death and when you are dead they will take your body
and eat it up and take over your family and animals and use it for the coming years. Personally I have seen that within the last three decades happening in Ethiopia and through out the continent of Africa. The supper powers whether they are from the east or the west encouraged us to create civil wars and supported us to kill each other when we bleed to death ourselves and the nation to death they come in and take over the country. Their goals are to get their free hands on our markets and raw materials for the profit of their countries. Russian did that to Mengistu and Americans are going to do that with Melese Zenawi.
The coming of Chinese will be an additional complication just replacing the Russian. I hate civil wars and whether we like it or not we have to take a side between the east and the west and fight proxy wars for china or America. That should not be. Both are not good choices for the government or the opposition groups. They keep their nations tranquil and we buy their arms and murder each other!
Why do we need to lose brilliant young men and women? Why do we need to scarify young intellectuals to the civil wars again? we had had enough; we had bled enough; we had lost enough and we cannot afford anymore. What do you think we had anymore to lose everything has been exhausted and the country had been left empty handed to surrender to foreign powers; we might had done that in 1991. Just think of the people of Wallo province who perished while Mengistu was pouring billions to support the civil war in Eritrea. See the Eritrean people who are sending money from their meager income to Eritrea and Isayas using it to run several wars in the Horn of Africa while the Eritrean citizens do not have enough to feed themselves. I do not get it people! My heart cries for my people of Horn of Africa! I am not sure if intellectuals from the Horn ever read Darwin theory where the British are celebrating his 200 birthday this month. He had done them good and he deserves a birth day bash. Doesn’t he?
