Ground breaking ceremony held for 1.5 billion Birr hotel

In a city where over 100,000 children sleep in the street (watch this video), Woyanne business partners (the vampires) plan to build $200 million hotel as reported below by the Woyanne-controlled Ethiopian News Agency (ENA)

(ENA) – A ground breaking ceremony was held on Saturday for a 1.5 billion Birr five star hotel due to be constructed adjacent to the African Union Commission (AUC) headquarter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The current AU Chairperson, Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, Ethiopian Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi, the outgoing AU Commission Chairperson Prof. Alpha Omar Konare and Sheik Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi laid the cornerstone.

The Ethiopian government earlier granted 120,000 square meters of land to the AU for the construction of buildings of various facilities and future expansion of the AUC.

Some 25,000 square meters of this land is allocated for the construction of the top of the range 5 star hotel

The hotel, whose construction is expected to be finalized by the year 2010, will cater for the ever-increasing conference clientèle as well as for Heads of State and Government.

  1. Dear elias, according to weyane those kids on the street are considered enemies. They shouldn’t be there in the first place. They gave bad name to the regime so they should be taken to dedessa and put them there in the name of “newtegnoch” “adegegna bozenewoch” “cud supporters” etc.

    shame on weyane!!!

  2. Wake up………another venue for blood thirsty African leaders!! Probably few hundred jobs and those goes to the few affiliated to Woyane and the thugs. No change for the poor and less fortunate.

  3. ቀላል ነው እኮ

አሳ ከምትሰጠ ው ማጥመ ድ አስተምረው ማለት ይህ ነው

Instead of giving a bread to the poor on the street, it is much better to give him a job ! where he can have a family which he can feed.

  4. I cant help noticing a very dangerous mis conception on the people that commented above me, and i have a responsibility to correct ur wrongness. By any standard the hotel industry is one of the least employing per capital invested compared with other industries. Look how huge the investment cost for this hotel is, 1,5 billion, but guess wht,it will be amazingly huge if this hotel creates 150 jobs. However if these much money were invested in agriculture or a manufacturing plant it can easily employee more than a thousand ethiopian.
Plus it seems you guys completely forget the fact that these days u need to be a member of TPLF or speak TIGRIGNA toget job. Anyway there is no reason to dance, cos the would be vacancies are already filled by TIGRAYS. that is the way it is.

  5. The owner of the hotel is Sheik Mohammed and the finance for the hotel is coming directly from his investment abroad. AU or Ethiopia is not spending a single cent on this hotel. It is just named after AU. That is all. The Sheik has employed more than 80,000 people all over the country trying to minimise unemployment which is throwing people on the street.

  6. Belay, The thing is the money came from AU, the only thing the ethiopia governmnet did is
-provide the land for 100 years lease
-and put it on a bidding, and Midroc is taking the construction. So now you are saying noone is allowed to decide on what they want. Do you think the ethiopian governmnet should have said “Invest it on Agriculture for the Africa Union (AU)” come on please

  7. It is an unfortunate situation that so many of our people are suffering and the few opportunistic pigs get to do whatever they want. It is very sad that the government spends this much money for a Hotel and not care about the people. Shame on woyanee!

  8. Please let us not be critical for whatever is doing in our country. The sole owner of the hotel is the Sheik so what is your problem? It seems that you don’t want anything good to our country. Why do you have a poor mentality? Please grow up!!!!!!

  9. All people:

Why don`t u use your common sense. AU is a very poor organization. It did`t even afforded to construct it`s head office not alone a luxurious hotel.

The money is the Sheik`s money. He has also promised to construct chain of hotels all over the country for the 50th anniversary of AU.

  10. Listen folkes:

I hope I will make sense out of what I have to say-

What about to those people living in the provinces?
Why is it that everbody wants to open business in Addis?
Hotels,Hotels and hotels and all of them in Addis. Who are they trying to please and help? I mean the Meles gang and the Sheik. Their own people? or the ferenji’s and those who come to prostitute with our Ethiopian sisters. Out of poverty and hopelessness and all because of the current unelected, wild and uncivilized regime.

The EPDRF mentality amazes me and how rotten they are, is what you all see, hear and read. Hager lemawared yetefeteru gudoch egzer bemin/lemin azezebin?

The oppositions and the so called politicians also take the major blame. Particularly those who stole the public fund in the name of Kinijit!

Sadly, our people still go when they are called for gathering and contribute money when asked. How much is too much and how long is too long? When do we say enough for these “yeken jiboch”? Be-Ethiopia sim demachinin yemimetut eske meche neaw? Meche neaw kezih telkasha bahiriy yeminiwetaw?

    Endezih eko alnebernim!
