Oh Great i will be there
Lets help one another today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God Bless America
If Obama is ready to support HR2003 and at the same time to stop supporting aids to regime, especially if he start opposing the tplf regime led by meles. I would be ready to contribute whatever to support obama and elect him in the upcoming Washington dc metro area. Otherwise, I don’t even spend a minute and don’t even participate in the so called democrat’s candidate. From my experience neither the democrats nor the republican’s don’t care to build the right human rights and democracy in Ethiopia. I have spent so much money, time and materials in support of democrate candidates, bceause I used to think they can bring many solutions to our country by being against the tplf regime, however they are all the same so far to me. Instead they keep supporting the meles regime as long as they are much secured with their interests. Recently, I have decided that the main solutions to avoid this tplf terrorist group from Ethiopia are our selves. Thanks to Ato hailu, he has dragged our struggle back, but we are not giving up. They said you can ride the horse to water but you can’t drink the water to the horse. Therefore the kinijit struggle has brought a lot of accomplishments, however it has not finished i am very inspired by that and continue to struggle by any means either peacefully or with armed force until we get the freedom we want too. Finally, I would support and contribute to obama if he is ready to be a part of the solution to bring the right democracy to Ethiopia, otherwise forget it!!!
This is great idea.
This is an excellent idea. I hope Ethiopians in the area will warmly respond to it.
It is obvious that we have to support people with influence if we want them to come to our aid. Obama and people around him will certainly help us particularly if we come to his aid now.
Obama the next President!
Obama is the only person who can understand how bad ethnic based governance is. See what is going on in Kenya people are killing each other for nothing based on the so called ethnic differences. If he becomes the president of the United States, I’m sure that he will not support any kind politics (political groups) based on ethnicity in Africa. God Bless Ethiopia.
Go Obama
Let us work together to install a new order of HOPE and UNITY; Barack is an apostle of HOPE and UNITY, he says we can walk together irrespective of our background and believe. We need a man like this not only in America, but in the world.
HR-2003 is infront of us. Let’s now ask his position on HR-2003.
The precondition will be HR-2003. If he support it, I will support him by contributing money and volunteer to his campaign.
If he is not for HR-2003, I will not support him.
HR-2003 is good for Ethiopia and bad for dictator Meles.
Does Obama support HR2003? Our support for him should be a quid pro quo deal.
Fetenaw he is a co-sponsor on the Bill
any specific reason why we want support Obama ?
let us all support him big time-He will make us all proud.he is a man of integrity and president material.i love him and wish him the best!
I am very exiting to be a part of history!!! Since I am an Ethiopian American I am trying to help the Obama campaign by being a volunteer in his campaign HQ in the Southern California.
By being a volunteer I am getting a believable experience of what a campaign is, how the democratic process works in the USA….I don’t know about Africa. After an election how long would it take to know the winner in Africa (Ethiopia)???????????????? Months, weeks???? Africa hopless!
Kinjit is the way of life!!!
That is great to support a man with a purpose in this critical time of election as long as he is committed to vanguard the vulnerable people of Ethiopia who are currently been victims of the Tyrany Ethino centric government TPLF/EPRDF.
The best tool to overthrow this rejected government is by peaceful and armed struggle along with international restrictions like HR2003. So if Obama stands beside us on ratification of HR 2003 unlike his predesasors, I am 100% sure he could be able to secure a vote from concerned Ethiopians in USA.
Down with EPRDF/TPLF and their cadres.
Barack’s Kenyan father was a Luo. He was a victim of ethnic hegemoney by the Kikuyus, like we now have in Ethiopia by a minority . Barack understands the ugly face of ethnic or tribal politics based on his own father’s fate.
Here is an excrept from his book, Dreams from My Father”.
Here is how his half sister Auma Obama narrated the story to Barack about their father’s final days. The story also provides a stark background to the present tragic crisis facing Kenya following the rigged election:
“…by 1966 or 1967, the divisions in Kenya had become more serious. President Kenyatta was from the largest tribe, the Kikuyus. The Luos, the second largest tribe began to complain that Kikuyus are getting all the best jobs. The government was full of intrigue. The vice president, Odinga [the father of the current opposition leader, Raila], was a Luo, and he said the government was becoming corrupt. That, instead of serving those who had fought for independence, Kenyan politicians had taken the place of the white colonials, buying up business and land that should be redistributed to the people. Odinga tried to start his own party, but was placed under house arrest as a communist. Another popular Luo minister, Tom M’boya was killed by a Kikuyu gunman. Luos began to protest in the treets, and the government police cracked down. People were killed. All this created more suspicion between tribes.
“Most of the Old Man’s [reference to Barack’s father, Obama] just kept quite and learned to live with the situation. But the Old Man began to speak up. He would tell people that tribalism was going to ruin the country and that unqualifiedmen were taking the best jobs. His friends tried to warn him about saying such things in public, but he didn’t care. He always thought he knew what was best…..Word got back to Kenyatta that the Old Man was a troublemaker…. Kenyatta said to the Old Man that, because he could not keep his mouth shut, he would not work again until he had no shoes on his feet.
…Things became very bad for the Old Man. He was banished from the government-blacklisted. None of the ministries would give him work. When he went to foreign companies to look for a post, the companies were warned not to hire him. He began looking abroad and was hired to work for the African Development Bank in Addis Ababa, but before he could join them, the government revoked his pasport, and he couldn’t even leave Kenya……”
Fetenaw we call you a special interest group or lobbyist
Do you, my fellow Ethiopians, know that Barak Obama visited the 2006 Diredawa flood victims? See link below. He is, I am sure the candidate of who would have close look at what is happening in east Africa.

I am conservative Ethiopian and pro-life and who said we should vote always for Democrat? I would vote for Mike Huckbe who is a social conservative who cares for poor people and pro-life.
I love Obama but I am not sure if we have to support him at a national level. We do not want to put our stake in danger if Mrs Clinton got elected…..I would recommend supporting him at individual level. Do not assume the other side is always green…..
Yes, Obama will be an extraordinary role model for Blacks, Africans, Americans and the rest of the world.
I am not even a citizen; not even a green card holder.
When the 2005 Elections went awry in Ethiopia, I was sending like Abeshas to Senators in my State of Illinois to Barrack Obama and Dick Durbin and several Congressmen and Congresswomen. After a few weeks, I recieved a letter signed by Barrack expressing his deep concern about the post-electoral crisis in Ethiopia nad that he was working with the African caucus in Congress to imress upon the Department of State. I was kind of happy and just wandering what ever happened to the others. There is more …
I was stuck in immigration matters big time for years. I tried all possible legal avenues; nothing came up. I tried various democratic congressional reps and no body took me seriously; I was Abasha in Midwest, right! I contacted Barack Obama via internet; even didn,t go to his office ‘cos I was losing hope. Within few days his Senate office contacted me; followed up on my case and contacted the USCIS which is under Department of Homeland Security. They got to the bottom of my case; and my extremely complicated case was resolved.
So I support Obama based on his concern to the little man and the voiceless like myself. He and his office took the trouble to respond to a political nonity like myself. He did give me at least a psychological relief and hope to stay the course and follow through my case.
So, I ask you support Barack Obama. Those Abeshas who can vote, please act; stop making self defeating excuses, and conditions! It is not about you pride, or conditions,; it is about making the impossible to happen. Thanks. I am attaching the link to his web site below:

Why not Mrs. Clinton instead of Obama? Race? Gender? Color? Ethnicity? Religion?
I will vote for Barack Obama… although I DISAGREE with his Iraq policy, government sponsored health care, his pro-abortion stand, rolling back tax cuts, etc. I will vote for Obama because he is a black man. After what African Americans endured in arriving to America as slaves (the movie Amistad) and hundreds of years of unimaginable injustice committed against them, how can I, as a black man, vote against a black man who has come so close to achieving the highest level of success in this country, despite all the obstacles black people face everyday?
Dear Ethiopian American,
DLA Piper the lobbyist firm contributed to presidential candidate Senator Hilary Clinton $403,420.
Source: http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.asp?CID=N00000019&cycle=2008
DLA Piper tried to kill our HR-2003. We Ethiopians we must now support Senator Barak Obama. I have chance to read his program. His program is excellent for US and Ethiopia. We need stronger America and Ethiopia.
HR-2003 is good for Ethiopians and bad for dictators.
YES WE CAN !!! SUPPORT OBAMA !!!
Let us vot for self intrest, if united we can be strong voice to our voiceless people in our home land. Our unity wil be best opportunity for Ethiopia and its people.
I like Obama, He stands for UNITY.
Yes indeed we must support him!!!
It is about time we Ethiopian Americans get involved in our adopted country. America is our home away from home. Until things improve back in our mother land, and as far as we are here we can also give our two cents worth of help by participating in the democratic arena. With the likes of DLP piper leaking their chops and wanting more of the same, and seeing the ugly true colors of the Clintons, I for one would vote Republican than vote for her. Following the true democrats example the decent family that will not be bought by any highest bidder or friend, (the Kennedys) we should support Obama all the way and every where by any means for him to win the highest office in the world. So the fund raise should not be limited to Metro DC but include the entire USA.
