Ethiopia’s major opposition party prepares for nationwide civil disobedience

In the wake of guilty verdict against its top leaders, Ethiopia’s major party, the coalition for Unity & Democracy Party (Kinijit), issued a statement today asking the people of Ethiopia to prepare for massive nationwide civil disobedience against the ruling Tigray People’s Liberation Front (Woyanne) during the upcoming Ethiopian millennium.

The statement said that Kinijit and other pro-democracy groups had appealed for peace and reconciliation, but the Woyanne regime took that as a sign of weakness.

The Woyanne brutal regime has dashed the people’s hope for peace, democracy and development, according to Kinijit.

Kinijit’s International Leadership, the main representative body of Kinijit’s top leaders who are currently in Qaliti prison, said in its statement that it is time for the people of Ethiopia to help Woyanne come out of its arrogance.

The statement explained that a detailed plan of the civil disobedience campaign will be announced soon, and that the campaign will involve all sectors of the Ethiopian society. In the mean time, the Kinijit asks the people of Ethiopia to make the necessary preparations.

According to ER sources, the Alliance for Freedom & Democracy (AFD), of which Kinijit is one of the five member organizations, will take center stage in coordinating the said opposition activities. A statement is expected to be issued by AFD shortly.

  1. It is about time!!!! Our voices need to be heard in a loud way. our leaders from kaliti have tried but no one has listened. When the world sees that the Ethiopian people do not support Meles they will take action against him in different ways. But we the people have to do the ground work.

  2. Yes, you are asking Ethiopians living in Ethiopia under the TPLF evil and disastrous mercenary policy to confront the enemy.

    What about those foolish Diasporas that are accepting the invitation and looking forward to celebrate with the Ethiopian haters (TPLF)? I hope oppositions, tegbar and individuals will conduct active approach in order to change the minds of these bastard Diasporas that are ready to celebrate the Ethiopian people cry, death and suffering with the people enemies (TPLF). These foreign mercenaries(TPLF) are using the millennium to camouflage their crimes which is to destroy the country.

    Diaspora needs to be bold against those animals types of so called Diasporas that are intentionally or without knowledge serving the woyane bandits. Those who are ready to go to Ethiopia to celebrate millennium with TPLF must be condemned, stopped, isolated and regarded as the people enemy by Diasporas and back home.

  4. Have you witnessed what woyane did/still is doing in Somalia/Mogadishu? They care for nothing. They have no human soul. They are more than ready and capable of doing the worst possible against Addis Ababa and the Ethiopia people, too. They have no understanding, feeling of belonging as their own the city and institutions. They are looking reason to destroy the city.

    Public disobedience without harsh and determine force against them, supporters and their interest all over the country, will serve only woyane.   9. Yes, It is the right time for AFD to have an impact. This is also the time when the gov is weakened and desparate. Keep all ethiopians informed of the message we expect from AFD to rally behind you. Be sure that most of the people in Ethipoia are pro AFD and ready to support and cooperate.

  11. After the Woyanes are gone there will still be Tigray and Tigrayans. And, I don’t think it’s to Ethiopia and Ethiopian’s advantage to associate the people of Tigray with the brutal bandits in power. The Woyanes do not represent Tigrayans,just as they don’t represent Ethiopians. They are clinging on to power not because they are supported by the people of Ethiopia or Tigray. They are in power because they have partnered with foreign governments who are providing them with the financial, diplomatic, and military support in exchange for distablising the entire region to secure unabated access to the human and material resources. The bandits, true to their nature have continued to loot Ethiopian resources and fattening their accounts abroad. They know their days are numbered and don’t care about what happens to the people of Tigray once their reign of terror comes to an enevitable end. Let’s all remember that the people of Tigray are the victims just as the rest of Ethiopians.

  15. I guess, this kind of action need to be well thought and planned. Otherwise it actually can help TPLF (Woyanie) as we saw it in the past.

    TPLF (Woyanie) is in its all time weak position now and the military knows that. It looks like the opposition has hearts and minds of the military as well. However, their needs to be some work done in the militart to organize those who doesn’t like the way things going with TPLF leaders and use these militarty members to stand with the people and make them ready to fight against the hard core TPLF supporters in the militart. This can assure success.

    Otherwise, this can be just another failing action of the oppotion. I hope there are some smart people in the opposition leadership to think this very simple but crucial point.

  17. Sammy’s caution to the effect that this kind of action needs to be well planned is good. Discretely working with the army and involving them in the process of building democracy and fighting parochial medieval tyranny is very important.

    On the other hand, past struggles though did not get rid of the tyranical medieval dictatorship in one go, did however achieve a lot of other things.

    The very fact that poor people rose up and engaged the over armed and overfed system gangs and gained battle experiences is already huge achievement.Breaking the myth and the artificial invinsibility piece by piece is good. The sacrifises and tragic casualtis are/were highly regretable prices being paid for gaining freedom and improving life for all. Struggle is not winning the first battle and turning it in to the first war victory and take state power for an easy down town ride.

    Every single action is a learning laboratory and pushes the struggle a step forwards. Some of the tasks of the leadership may be unification, coordination, creation of sustainability, motivation, material, immaterial, intelligence, logistics, etc. supplies and pointing fingers at the direction of lights at the end of the dark tunnel.

    Folks: As an old wise saying states, “You may be disappointed if you fail; but you are doomed if you don’t try.” In addition,no action is another failing action.

    For example, Thomas Edison who invented the electric light bulb was told as a child at age 7 that he is incapable learning anything. Before inventing the electirc light bulb, Edison tried and experimented over 200 times.

    When the invention finally succeeded, a young juornalist approached Edison asking him as to how it felt for him to fail over 200 times. ” I never failed even a single time. The invention just happened to be a 200 step process to have the final working standard light bulb,” was his response. Because of a man who trusts in himself and his dreams and long chaines of sacrifices against all odds, we currently have enjoy light all over the world.

    What if Edison would have believed the few idiotic learned men and women who analysed him at age 7 and concluded that he is incapable of learning, and went out to become an illitrate street boy? I guess the world might have still been in darkness.

  19. It is true this is the time to bring change and cut TPLF’s air tube. But let OLF and Ogaden liberation front etc. as well as any ethnocentric tribal chief of the 21st century front leaders and their bone headed followers should learn from Meles and his evil TPLF 16 years crime how much the Ethiopian people are tired of this kind of 17th century backward game. Every tribal chief must work hard to support himself as well as his own family if he can not earn enough income to support his family as well as himself he must abstain from sex, I know these tribal chiefs do not know how to use condom so I can not suggest them to use it because if I tell them to use condom they might put in their bloody hand and do sex or they might use as stocking for their wives. So their wives should use bearth control or the muscle headed Tribal chiefs must be castrated in order to have a small family at the same time these chifs should reduce their eating habit instead of using the poor people of their tribe members as a means of income for their survival. You know Meles use to be the poorest man when he was in the desert of sudan but he used poor Tigreans as means of income in sudan and after he came to power he has still the fear of getting hungry because as everybody knows this guy does not have any kind of skill to support himself and his fat and ugly family look for how long he stayed in a bloody politics but he still does not get right and he will never get it because he is an idiot person. he can not be a farmer because neither he does have power nor he is strong enough to dig the ground to cultivate the land neither he can be a merchant because he does not know how to count from 1 to 100 as his own Italian Banda father told for everyone when he was asked by someone if his evil child Meles has stolen the Ethiopian peoples’ money then Meles’s father said his son Meles does not even know the difference between 10 Birr and 100 Ethiopian Birr. So if this idiot person does not know the difference between 10 and 100 bir how does he knows the economic grows of the country. conserning his political skill forget it he will be the last politician after dead political personalities, because he has know conscious nor the right judgement, for instance he thought he will win Badme and he was kicked his naked bottom from behind by his Master Esayas. They are guilty beyond any doubt,they deserve it(The verdict);though it doesnot bring back the lives of innocent peoples who died during the 1997 kinijit chaos.Justice is well served,it is a good lesson for the rest of kinijit banda gangesters and their likes;the government of Ethiopia has no patience where the peace and security of the people is concerned.

These venomous gangsters(majirat mechiwoch) have, time and again, made it clear they are never standing for Ethiopia but others, who consider and tell them are, their following dogs. But ER and others who think of mobilizing Ethiopians for this just cause, I would like to bring to your attention that any content on internet can not be for everyone here as it is only the minor proportion of the population having access to. So better is to try with unguided mass media(radio broadcast..), that anyone can get the call to respond to effect. Sorry for my view, as the broadcasting cost is too much that many may have thought about but could not make it, due to its repulsive cost. However, it is only by this way one can convey this vital call to the mass. So please try this.

  25. People have the right to say whatever they want. Whenever they oppose us we must not take it personal and try to defend ourselves by talkiing nonsense.
    What I am trying to say is let people talk their mind but the best thing is what the majority supported must be accepted by the minority.
    If that does not happen we cannot achieve anything.
    So kindly ask you to read what everybody says but do not go ballestic when you do not get what you want to listen.
    The millinium is for the Woyane and its cronnies and not for the people of Ethiopia.The people of Ethiopia must unite to get their leaders out of the Woyane jail.Those who support that idea must work together.
