Tegbar League issues advisory to foreign companies and nationals in Ethiopia

Posted on

From: Tegbar League Central Executive Committee, Addis Ababa

Attn: All foreign companies operating in Ethiopia

Date: June 12, 2007

Re: Ethiopian millennium

Tegbar League-Ethiopia is calling on all foreign companies that are operating in Ethiopia to cease their operations in the country from August 20 until September 12, 2007, as preparation are underway for nationwide protests to demand the release of opposition leaders, journalists and all other political prisoners.

As you know well, the jailed opposition leaders are elected by the people of Ethiopia in a landslide victory in May 2005.

Following its defeat at the ballot box, the losing party, the Tigrean People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), carried out a massive crackdown in order to rule by force, disregarding the will of the people.

All major international organizations, the European Parliament, and the U.S. Congress have condemned the TPLF atrocities.

The opposition leaders made repeated calls for dialogue and all-inclusive talks to resolve the crisis peacefully. But the TPLF leaders refused, and instead threw all the opposition leaders, and tens of thousands of peaceful protesters in concentration camp-like jails.

After two years of appeals and calls for dialogue, we have ran out of options. We will not allow our elected leaders to languish and die in jail.

We therefore have decided to use the upcoming Ethiopian millennium to launch massive nationwide peaceful civil disobedience campaigns.

We will take extreme care to protect foreign nationals and companies. But knowing the past deeds of the TPLF regime, we are worried that they will attack foreigners and civilians and blame it on the opposition.

So we believe that it is a wise thing for us to issue this advisory in advance. The best thing for every foreign national to do is to stay away from the country during the days leading up to September 11, 2007.

  1. hi
How u gonna make a protest amidst of all those agazi brute forces? Don’t run for another bloodshed! Becarful no to put the yout in to fire agin. Because the nothing is backin the struggle of the youth. I advise u to stop such a foolish act. I am not happy to see a single boy losing his life or physical

  2. It is about time that someone is trying to do something before the murderous Woyane regime condemns our elected leaders to death as Meles’ Kangaroo court seems to be bent on doing. All freedom loving Ethiopians have to heed Tegbar League’s call and do whatever is required to stop the Fascist Woyane leadership from carrying out the threatened death sentences. The silence of the citizenry has to come to an end.

All Ethiopians who value their freedoms, must always remember that our imprisoned leaders our paying heavy sacrifices so that we can live freedom without fear. If we don’t stand up and say enough is enough now, history will never forgive us and we will never find true leaders who will stand up for our rights again.

  3. It is a very very important recommendations from Tegbar League. The public disobedience is a vital imortance.
It shall be intensified, at any cost.

    Long Live Ethiopia,
    KD

  4. I believe it is perfect decision. Ethiopians in the diaspora, let us help Tegbar at least by boycoting any service with Ethiopia. How about to establish an international committe for the same purpose. Let us act now. Let us unite ourselves now. Ethiopia is at the verge of disintegration. Let us stop woyanes from accomplishing their mission.
    Ethiopia will survive.

  5. So Kadu,do you have a better idea or you want the people just do noting when the tplf unelected tugs put their elected leadres in jail.think again. you leave in freedom or you may have to pay a price to be free. that is how our Ethiopian founding fathers and mothers keept our country free and indpendent from forigen evil enveders .

  6. You stuipid..you don’t know how to strugle.Do u want agiain to put the innocent into fire hidind your family secured. This will not help Ethiopia and its people. we had better follow a gradual negotiation.which goverment have u ever seen in africa toppled by protest. Please stop your stupid strategy.you had better fight slowly and peacefully..
peace to Ethiopia.Donot be emotional. It is their emotion that put them into the prison.

  7. The struggle against dictatorship and for democracy must go on at any cost. That has always been how the world came to be a better place of creativities, welfare and human wellbeing. Ah! don’t dare and don’t do it scarecrow is only good for the self serving dictators themselves for their highly conditioned loyal salves fore ever. If the brave American people did not dare to stand up against the then British feudalism and the all encompassing power of absolute monarchy, they would have still been poor and wretched tax payers. But by fighting and gaining their independence they achieved extraordinary creativities and mature developments in almost all fields of human activities. They paid the cost in the course of the struggle, but the spiritual and material rewards of democracy and freedom amounts to priceless multiple capitals.

  8. Please, let’s all stand together once again. Let’s not disagree on every little things we heard.
We all know that’there is no freedom with out sacrifice’ I hope you all remember Tewodros said.
“Give my librity or death” This is for weyane gangs.
Let them finish us on the street, instead of killing us legally at least let them kill us illigally. Hope you understand.
    thku.

  9. It is time to take action. Our patience is taken as fear. While our leaders langush in prison, we shouldn’t sit & watch like we watch a movie. They are sacrifiesing for our freedom & we should participate by reacting against weyane action by any meanse necessary. Apartid is not crushed only by using legal means. Economic sabotage against weyane interests should be considered. Makeing the planned millinium celebration risky to participate in is also legtimate political struggle.
    Bravo Tegbar! Lead-us!

  10. wow are you sure you can tell ppl back home what to do?
more power to you ER we wILL See.
peace loving ethiopians are ready more than ever to protect their peace bring it on.

  11. Selam Tegbar legue! where have you been? welcome back!!!! we need action, action and action even to defence ourselves. we have always been dying and there is no such thing as the worst more than this. I and my friends are ready to do what ever is needed to bring about justice….
    Woyaneeee will eventually burried…
    Mebratu

  12. Thanks, Tegbar League, to take the initiative. We need someone to coordinate. But you (we) have to device something to inform most of the people in Ethiopia. Woyane will block this and other websites. We have to get another alternative.
For being killed, there is no other way of achieving victory in the presence of big dictators like woyanes. We are ready, and we need only a good leader and coordinator.

Still today, they are telling us in public they are enemies of Ethiopia (Sibihat Nega

  13. Time to do something!

We encourage Tegbar to go ahead with its program but consult others specially of leading poltical organizations on its practicality.

This must involve every one of us. You know we don’t have all to be armed to fight the Woyannies. Those poltical groups who are in the armed struggle must come up with a Zone division or the may divide the country based on the old system of 14 provinces and intensify the armed struggle. Fighting to be done on a gurilla style away from the population. The target should be the Agazi force, TPLF memebers and higher government officials. Take a village at a time. The Kinijit youth wing must come up with a different tactics of struggle including an under ground publication of the attrocities, identification & isolation of local TPLF memebers with their photos and the list of their crimes. The general public must respond for every boycott call including the millennium celebration but it has to be conscious to know what it should be doing.

KIL must sit down immediately for a special emergency meeting and take a responsibility of organizing the struggle. We don’t really need a jet shuttle from one city to another to address diaspora community about the need what to do. Just concentrate on the strategy at the home front. Organize the Radio program to be efficient, create a legal division to register attrocities and inform the world about attrocities in Ethiopia with supporting documents and photos, find a way to reach memeber of the armed forces and an awareness program about their responsibility – they should know with out them Zenawi can not kill and destroy our country and make them aware they will be equally responsible for desroying the country. Assign a few vocal community leaders to organize a grand protest in Washington DC which we all must participate.

AFD must step in and initiate a military and diplomatic campaign. They should send an envoy to Eritrea,Djibouti, the Sudan, EU and ask the advise of Afework on a military help.

We have to have a different approach.

  14. Those of you who live in a comfotable life “so called Tegbar(opportunists)”. stop running another bloodshed.
No one will follow you bloody commond, while you having fun in North America cities with your family. Would you please go home and do it by your self.

My name is Seblework Tadesse. I was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and I am one of those CUDP members who had been arrested and detained by Meles Zenawi.
I was released after 19 months of suffering in Kaliti prison.

This blog is intended to provide a first hand account of the current situation inside Kaliti in particular and in Ethiopia in general. You are welcome
to ask me questions and provide me with your constructive comments.

After attending Primary and Secondary School, I joined Admas University College in Addis Ababa where graduated a Diploma in Marketing Management. I was
subsequently studying in a 4 year Degree Program and was a final year student looking forward to my degree in management at the same college before I was
arrested on the 10th of November 2005. Additionally, I have an advanced diploma in theology and a certificate in journalism.Beginning at a very young age,
I had been working for nearly a decade on social activities as a volunteer at Ethiopian Heritage Trust Association and as a leader of the youth club, coordinating
people to participate and create awareness of the values of our heritage. After my graduation I had been working at the African Printing Press as Marketing
    Department Head.

I am a very involved person and I have always been concerned about the current Ethiopian regime

  16. Kadu go and discuss with woyane if you want like Lidetu et al. Whether you like it or not Ethiopians are dying every minute. Our leader went to prison saying Ethiopian will leave his leader in prison and sleep at home. The pulic also told them not to enter the woyane parliament. Enough is enough. Ben your time is over. Tegbar please tegbar and Kinjit etc.

God bless Ethiopia. Ethiopia shall be Liberated.

  17. Aberra Birru Sam Array all what can we do from here in the states to hit Woyanne where it hurts. Can someone help organize something ?
    Their time has come
And Please ignore the likes of Kadu . The less reponse he gets the better. dont waste your time on poeple like that

btw: f you want to read the entirety of Seblework’s blog go to http://kaliti.blogspot.com/

  18. Minilik declared war against Yohannes to take back his palace. Haa haa haaa
The power struggle between shoa and Tigray kings has always been there. That is how you snatch power in Ethiopia. We the Southern are victims of the system. The Tigrayans have always been suspicious of Shoan, ever since Menilik the second systematically
got rid of Yohannes IV so it has always been like that… The Lion of Judah domination ended when Haileselassie Died, Dergue killed more neftegna than anyone else. To day wayane are trying to use us against cud. Cud are also trying to use us against wayane. Both for their own good. The northern rulers of Ethiopia always looks to their stomachs only. No more Solomonian dynasty rule us any more. It is our turn now.ABYSINAS WERE THE ROOT PROBLEM OF ETHIOPIA FOR LAST 150+17 YEARS.

  19. Thank you, tegbar! It is a perfect timing. We ethiopians in the diaspora must help tegbar in finincial and technical issues. Innocent ethiopians are dying every minute any way. ‘yefasika beg aderegun ende?’ We must stand up for our people. Tegbar need to have a good plan on how to inform the people of ethiopia and how to lead the movment; you need to consult experts. Kaldeferese ayteram! Freedom to ethiopia!!

  20. I am tired of a bunch of hodam-diaspora forming a group like “Tegbar League” and trying to dictate the Ethipian youth to fight for their unfulfield dreams. History has shown those who don’t learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat it…
Fidel Castro is just a few miles away from Florida, still at large, no amount of sanction or embargo has deterred him, only the poor Cubans suffer more… the same would be with Meles and the Ethiopian poor…that is, if your dream of boycotting even materialized.
Anyone, whatever your political outlook or inclination is, that plans for any or all kind of economic sanction against our mother land, is nothing but a traitor, who has brought his politican ambitious before the Ethiopian peole.
Hunger strike, boycotting this and that, candle light vigil… desperate acts have all failed.
The best way to approach the issue at hand is only through a national dialogue… emotions, rhetorics,… as has been witnessed whenever the Ethiopian government sends delegates to discuss with the diaspora has not benefitted the opposition but closed the opportunity of voicing your concerns.

  21. Hi all it’s cruel just to ignor what’s going in Ethiopia we become a living deads unable to save our people from the brutal wrath of TPLF dictatorship,AFD co-ordenated Tegbar league and all in unison have to start what ever possble,we know TPLF for the last 16 years how they are shameless anti Ethiopian greedy traitors and now the inhuman “gulity” verdict let start the fire we are 70million people we know we shall win the battle, under TPLF forget democrcy, let’s save Ethiopia !!

  22. hi !!
their is more attacks about the decesion of tegbar .
It shows that TPLF cadres are working infront of their
    PC more hours.
We have to know that their is a group of woyane cadres that works day and night to attack this kind of strugle. If any body have got different kind of movement pls let’s see.
We have to ignore what they say
go tegbar go gooo we are with you

  23. Tegbar has nothing to do. The army is vigillant enough to engulf them within minutetes as it did in hours in Somalia, the land they do not know.

Yewushet korkoro atinifu. All poor youth have now became aware that the diaspora 1% are gambling on the youth’s life.

If you want to struggle, come to Ethiopia.

American and England national has nothing to do for Ethiopia. We want to live peacefully.

  24. Well i hope there wont be no MOTHER crying over her son’s dead body like we saw in 2005 u ppl need to know that we are dealing with a cold blooded killers who have no respect for human life, i dont see any effect of having this protest in a nation where the government has tons of ammunition and guns verses the regular people who are not armed. The protests in 2005 were peacefull too remember? but what happen to the people who wanna voice thier disagrement with the civic manner? huh? didnt they get a bullet in thier head? come on now u ppl need to think twice before the same genocide happens again.lets not be a fool twice for these trigger happy morons.

  25. Dear Addis where ever you are , may the Alimghty God bless you ,your comment is the best of all that I read in resolving the current poltical situation!! let’s begin to discuss and create a forum with Govrnement and Party officials. oppostion Parties should work hard in this regard!! please move on!!creating animosity and rebellion will not take as any where!! I am pretty much sure , the likes of Elias will not like this idea!! it is my hope that someday they will come to their orginal sense , look on the situation from the diffirent angle!! party and government officials this call is for you too!! lets forgive and try to make peace and reconcillation in this millinium , beleive me Heaven will reward us!! and our country will be beneifited from this !! God bless

  26. Most of you want some kind of action. I have to suggest here you all need to go to start the fighting in Ethiopia. You should learn by now no more giving orders. The only choice left for you at this time is to take action by yourself.

  27. Shell, Mobil, ZTE(the biggest China tele Co operating in Ethio), CRBC(the biggest China construction Co operating in Ethio), Ericsson, DHL, International Red Cross, Norwegian Aid, Irish Aid, if possible MIDROC and etc to cease operation for two weeks according to a call from Tegbar League. Ha Ha Ha…oppositions are getting more idiot than ever.

Those of you who think that the Tegar League`s idea as briliant and practical, are real low life people.

  28. Kudos for the prisioners in kaliti who are paying the altimate scarifies for thier country from day one.Even though they are behind bars that doesnt mean they are forgotten, all the good work they have done is enlighting the Ethiopian ppl where ever they are day by day.May GOD give them strength to keep the going and may this be the down fall of MEles and his puppets.

  29. URGENT AND IMPORTANT. On the TEGBAR LEAGUE’s ADVISORY above to all foreign companies and foreign nationals residing in Ethiopia, PLEASE CORRECT THE DATES YOU HAVE PUBLISHED. I think you meant to say from AUGUST 20 TO SEPTEMBER 12. You have instead written Sept.2 on your Advisory, which is ten days before the Millenium.

I think Tegbar League Ethiopia should advise the State Department also, as they seem to be the ones encouraging the TPLF to continue with its violence and murderous activities.

  30. YES IT IS TIME TO DO SOMETHING. IT IS TIME TO MAKE OUR OWN HISTORY.

I think 77milion people should be able to do something about a few group of people that are treating us with indignity.

AS THEY SAY ONCE YOU MAKE A DECISION THE UNIVERSE WILL MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. I don

  31. we will never sleep until we get it done. it just a matter of time, it will be done. they trashed the Ethiopian people vote they are trying to divide the country with ethnicity diversification.they are onerous to the country and cancer to the people.please don’t forget now even the derge regime is gone, that is another part of history.probably they think they are on the top of their game, and we know that it is a sacrifice.may god bless ethiopia. long live tegebar.

  32. You know what we have to do? I think these idiot TPLF maggots should be panished to the extreme whatever we can do to them. As well as their muscle head Dedebit followers starting today should be isolated. Until they become weak and frail we have to hit them hard at home and abroad. You know these mentally disabled group of people have no shame they will not back up from doing a shameful thing if they think it will help them to stay on power. Think back how Meles called VOA radio using another name calling himself Abebe who does that kind of bone head thing unless he or she is from Dedebit. Anyway I personally I will not use anything related with Dedebit people like Akusum Restaurant, Ethiopian airlines etc. Actually I was thinking to go to Ethiopia now I am being honest to you I will not go soon if I go for emergency I will not use their Airlines I will use another airlines I will not help them these idiots in order to kill people with the money I gave, or help any Dedebit until they sho me they are a thinking human being again. I hope they go away or leave us soon to join Eritrea their master I don’t think Eritreans will want a mindless slave, I know Eritreans will not be foolish again by taking them or helping these mad dog Dedebits but let us ask the Eritreans to say that they will take them then after these headaches left us to join Eritrea then the Eritreans can tell them they were just kidding them. Then Sebihat Nega will get diarrhea and die.

  33. Dear All,

I expect this civil disobedience will work for the down fall of the EPRDF regime.Presently, the countries economy is really going down though the government is saying the opposite. The people is facing a very challenging problem to get daily meal.I do not understand what the government is saying the country’s economy is growing fast. But it is not true.Except few people, majority of Ethiopians do not support what is going on in the country. As the result the economy is deteriorating time to time.In other words the people’s disobedience started since the time of 2005 election.I am sure this will continue until the EPRDF government respond to the people’s question. Among these to release the CUD leaders without any precondition.

  34. hi gobez,
Please understand my concern from the point of unwanted sacrifies like what we have seen before. atleast two hundreds died last time, the question is what happend next? The struggle to put the Meles regim by civil disobedience failed and it seemed that woyane managed to control everything, then what continued was unthinkiable, mass arrest and torture and more killings. Those young Ethiopians who sacrified their life for democracy and freedom are forgotten and everybody is now busy of how to survive the current economic problem. therefore their sacrifices was in vain. It does not matter whether it is a street protest or civil disobedience, woyane will knock every door and take the young people to ziway agin: more torture and killings, FOR NOTHING!!!! A STRUGGLE IS A STRUGGLE IT SHOULD NEVER STOP AFTER SOME PAID HEAVY SACRIFIES. MY POINT IS TEGEBAR SHOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT, MUST AN OUTLINE OF NON STOP STRUGGLE TO MAKE THE WOYANE COME TO THE TABLE. IT SHOULD NOT BE ONE DAY PROTEST OR DISOBDENCE. TEGBEA LEAGUE MUST KNOW WHAT IT IS DOING. SIMPLE: TAKE TIME AND DEVICE SYSTEMATIC APPROACH AT MINIUM CASUALITIES, AGAIN IT SHOULD BE NON-STOP.

LET THE ALMIGHTY GOD BE WITH US AND ABOVE ALL GIVE US LOVE AND COURAGE.

  35. I don’t think ,you have got some jobless guys to die.
you make us peaceless before but now here in addis ,
peoples are talking about the weakness of the opposition.the great “kinijit” dismanteled into kinijit of kality,of international,of temesgen,of
    shaleka,of andargachew (tegibar league ???),of hamisso,of parliament group ( comicochu),of lidetu…
so on so fourth …. but now you call peoples lay on
some jobless guys and to pay 50 birr each.this
EPRP ‘s strategy doesn’t work now in addis .don’t waste your time.when you (andargachew) were in addis ,what you saw here and what we have in addis now is completely different .I know ,those who can’t come to ethiopia due to political asyllum, shortage of money ,and so many reasons ,please don’t disturb our celebration.
we always celebrate meskerem 1 whether woyane is here or not ;our families are dying or exist let alone the
poor CUD leaders are in jail.I can assure you if you ask them now all about the 1997 election, they will tell you they missed an ample opportunity and make a mistake.by the way ,do you heared what says to the ” kangaroo ” court,it is our constitution right!which
constitution ?shame non you .siak ayamir.

  36. Dear all “God Bless Ethiopia”

Let’s the recent South Africa, after 400 years of blood bath and severe struggle. Even now, whenever their is a request that the government gives a deaf ear, they stand for a nationwide strike like one man.

What a cursed mind do we have not to unite and stand together at least for a common freedom for ourselves. What ever time the struggle takes, it must start somewhere sometime. I feel it is time to start it now. There should always be a coordinating body. Otherwise, the final time of Woyane (their arogancy) is very near; but needs some one to push it aside and implement a clear democratic way of administration.

Pray for our country and our people even those of you who are living abroad.

God Bless our country and people.
