Ethiopian Review would like to thank the EriTV staff for not using the term “Ethiopian government” or “Ethiopian army.” They always use the correct term “Woyanne.” Indeed, Ethiopia has no national army and no legitimate government. The army under the Woyanne regime is a gang of mercenaries who terrorize, torment, murder, mayhem, rape and brutalize the people of Ethiopia and neighboring countries on the orders of Meles Zenawi and the TPLF junta. The sole purpose of the Woyanne army is to protect the Meles crime family from the people of Ethiopia. To call this army of baby killers and rapists an “Ethiopian army” is to dishonor the name Ethiopia. Ethiopians are not completely defenseless thanks to the freedom fighters of ONLF, OLF, as well as the EPPF (soon to reemerge from its internal crisis) who will jointly make up the future Ethiopian army. The Ethiopians who are fighting in Somalia and now may be heading to Eritrea are ethiopian forces. Please do not associate policy makers and soldiers. In Irak americans support the troops. However then invasion of Iraq is a gross miscalculation of the dummy Bush administration.
Prior to 1991 those soldiers who were fighting in Eritrea, Tigray and also SOmalis heading by SIad Barre were ethiopians forces. They were not Dergs.
SO for you to characterize Ethiopians troops as only “weyane” troops is wrong. You mentioned the EPPF. As far as the truth is concerned, there is no EPPF. I have not seen any concrete and tangeable actions from this grup. In fact this group has not gone away.
As to ONLF and OLF , ato Elias, they are not at all representing Ethiopia. ONLF and OLF separatist groups. Replacing EPRDF with the ONLF and OLF is the worst that can happen to a country. It will be the end of Ethiopia.
The best solution is to engage this ethiopian forces so that thy say no to the regime and protect Ethiopia. What we need is agressive public relation campaigns to isolate the defense forces from the regime.
I remember you posted three soldiers who deflected. They have said that many are upset by the regime. It is also these people you are calling weyanes and puting them in the same pot. I think it is wrong.
Soldiers who are fighting in Somalia, soldiers who are dragged on the street of Mogadishu ….are our Ethiopians brothers. Because their commander in chief Meles is wrong, we must not degrade them and take their death as good news.
So Ato ELias, I respectfull disagree very much with you characterization of the Ethiopian Defense force. Lumping the EDF together with policy makers is extending the life of the regime. If we want change in Ethiopia we have to bring the defense force on our side. Otherwise, trust me the ONLF and OLF will never bring solution. ONLF and OLF are gone if Shabia is gone.
All the intense activoties we see in Ogaden is planned and orchestrated by Shabia. The strength of ONLF does not do that. We know the ONLF for more than 15 years. As to the OLF, they control no land at all. (not even one kebebe). They mau have some soldiers in Eritrea. Their headquarter is in Eritrea. However, if Shabia is defeated they will gone as well. (with their radio station they broadcats from there)
The solution is for all oposition to start an intense public relation campaign to bring those good elements of the TPLF and the army on their side. WIth suich campaign, I camn guarantee you there will be peaceful transition to freedom and democracy. I sugegst for the ONLF and OLF also to adopt such policy and avoid their military confrintation with the regime. THEY CANNOT BRING SOLUTION BY FORCE.

What can I say – Let me say again you are my hero – courageous and visionary. Regardless of our past, Eritrea is the only potential friend that can provide a sanctuary as well as source of support for all anti- woyane forces. That is why generals, officers, non-commissioned officers and thousands of soldiers from the front lines are fleeing to Eritrea.
However, fleeing alone is not the answer – I hope this will be a wake up call especially for the NON-TIGRE portion of the Ethiopian Defence Forces (The Oromos, Amaras, Wolayitas, Gurages, Kambatas, Sidamas, Somalis, Agnuaks, etc) to turn their gun towards the real enemy the WOYANES and drive the WOYANE occupation force out of ETHIOPIA.
It is time for all credible ARMED AND NON-ARMED DEMOCRATIC FORCES (Kinijit, EPPF, UEDF, OLF, ONLF) OF ETHIOPIA to call upon there respective constituencies TO RISE UP AGAINST WOYANE tyranny!!
Although Shaebia trained and armed Woyane (TPLF) to destroy Ethiopia, conflict of interest has created a completely different dynamics. Now is the time for all Ethiopian Democratic Forces to rise up and coordinate with Shaebia forces and WIPE OUT WOYANE once and for all!

OLF and ONLF are and will continue to be a force to reckone with because they command a large support from there respective constituencies – that may not be to the liking of an offspring of a neftegna like “GK” who have dislike for anything Oromo or other oppressed peoples of Ethiopia. The Meles and Bereket gangs are enemies and not leaders of Ethiopia and their crimes against Somalia does not reflect the wishes of Ethiopians. Thus, it is necessary to present this fact. However equating the Ethiopian army with Meles is misguided.
Not including the specially trained Agazi militia that has been raised as Meles’ loyal guard dogs, the average Ethiopian army and police will not be a willing participant in crimes. That is why Meles disarmed the police in Addis and sent in his own Agazi forces to watch over the police and the army. Yes, the army is structured in a way where only woyanes call the shot. All senior positions in the army are occupied by woyanes most of whom are also Tigreans. Low ranking officers and soldiers have no choice but to follow orders. If they dare to say no to the invasion they will certainly face Meles’ killing squad waiting ready to mow them down with machineguns and tanks.
It is your and my brothers and sisters nephews and nieces who are in the army because that is the only place where they could earn a bread. If we have not created an alternative way for them to earn a living, can we judge them harshly for joing the army? Also, if we are not ready to consider all civilian government employees woyanes, it is hypocritical to call the soldiers woyanes.
How can we celebrate the killing of our own and their bodies being dragged on the street? Yes we should feel sorry for our Somali sisters and brothers who are beng killed in their own country. But we should also feel sorry for the young and old Ethiopians who were forced to join the army out of desperation and put their life at risk for something that they do not believe in.
Finally, tThe hope some have about this or that liberation front rescuing Ethiopia from Meles’ tyranny is a failure to learn from our recent past mistakes. How many of us had the same hope that woyane are on march to liberate Ethipia from another dictator? Where are we now? Supporting the people of Ogaden and others who are being persecuted by Woyanes is necessary. But I have difficulty to belive that an-ethnic based liberation force will liberate us all Ethiopians.
Shabia, as a political group, has never been nor will it ever be a champion of strong and free Ethiopia. Let us not fool ourselves with this the enemy of my enemy is my friend thinking. This enemy of our enemy also has its own plan for us not a good one for us.
